So details are starting to come out for calendars for next year. Alas, it looks like Kodansha will not be publishing a Twelve Kingdoms calendar for 2007. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif Also no Arina Tanemura calendar from Shueisha this year! (!!!) Definitely light on the shoujo so far this year. However, here's some information of what calendars have shown up so far (any and all omake info are based on my pitiful translation skills and should be regarded as tenative at best):

I'm *assuming* it's like those tear-off 365-day calendars only with 3 days instead of one.

Dammit! I want another big-ass Negima manga wall calendar! The one from 2005 is awesome and I figured there's be enough new cover illustrations that we'd get another one for 2007.

There's supposed to be at least one Shirow calendar coming this year entitled Works. It's supposed to be printed by Seishinsha and released in October, but I have yet to see it solicited. There is also supposed to be a Togi Hime 2 calendar from Kodansha, but this also has not been solicited. I'd consider them tentative until officially solicited.

It's a pity I stick to the anime calanders, since the Bleach manga one looks nice. I'm really tempted to just pick it up anyways, but I don't want to end up with three or more calanders this year. /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif

I'll probably pick up a Studio Ghibli calendar for 2007 and that will be it...though I am sad there wont be anything for Twelve Kingdoms, I almost bought one for 2006...

There should be more. Hell, the Comic Blade calendars aren't even up on Amazon.jp yet and none of the inevitable anime-style calendars have been solicited. I would assume that this is it from the publishers listed though. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Edit: Oh, and there are US ones I haven't goten around to putting up yet. Apparently the Juvenile Orion calendar Broccoli is putting out this year should have both Koge Donbo *and* Peach-Pit art. *drools*

*reads through Square-Enix list* No calender that peaks my interest and as sad as it seems 2007 will be yet another year for which Sqaure-Enix won't release a calender for ZOMBIE-LOAN...me wants the *handsome* Asou Shotetsu in calender/lickable poster format /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Also, according to Manga no Mori at least, it seems that fans of Masamune Shirow will get a calender by him this year. Seishina supposable announced it for 2006/10/20 (release date) as can be pre-ordered at Manga no Mori here (http://www.manganomori.com/cgi-bin/manganomori_SC/showroom/exp.cgi?mode=single&single_code=4878923253) (unless it won't be cancelled ^_~.

Bear in mind that tactics and Vassalord (new series from the Peacemaker Kurogane mangaka, angsty bishounen vampires) are hardly hardcore seinen titles.

But yeah, no 12K calendar sucks (although they've used pretty much all the artwork twice over now) in particular.

The one calandar I look forward to most every year.

Yotsubato! Himekuri 2007 Calandar.
Sale Date: 3/10/2007

Mangaoh (http://www.mangaoh.co.jp/php/data_product.php?i_prd_code=131325)

Like the Azumanga and previous Yotsubato! himekuri, it will start in April and go until the end of March 2008.

I don't see it up on Amazon.co.jp as of yet, I will update once I or someone else finds a link.

If you are near a Kinokuniya, they also stock them. (Or they did up in Seattle the past two years...) 3/2007 is quite a ways off but oh well.

I was able to take some shots of the Shueisha Bleach 2007 Calendar and added the images here (http://home.comcast.net/~marsh00/october.html), along with some other pictures I took today. What's good about this year's calendar is that there're preforations between the calendar date box and the actual images which makes it all the more easy to separate the two and display the images later.

I don't buy from jlist anymore. They just don't have their stuff together as a business. I did find it somewhere though and it better be worth it. I must be insane to spend 40 bucks on a bloody calendar after shipping charges. Here I thought I was stupid when I dropped 20 on last year's Jinki calendar (my first) and that was to qualify an order for free shipping.

Have any of you received any of the 2007 calendars yet?
I've received the Fate/Stay Night one. It's nice, but I can't share any pictures (no digital camera, no scanner, no photo hosting account).

What are you still waiting to be shipped?

I received my Bleach and Naruto calendars yesterday. The Naruto calendar is pretty nice, but feels pretty 'standard' overall (though I did get quite the shock seeing the updated Sasuke, seeing as how I haven't been keeping up with the manga), other than the nice, shiny metallic cover. The Bleach one, however, really impressed me. The individual sheets have a solid backing to them, rather than just being paper. They even have perforations separating the images from the calendar portions so that you can easily save the images to display later once you're done with the calendar.

Still waiting on the Fullmetal Alchemist calendar.

That's a nice touch, allowing you to easily remove the pages after the months are over. That's one thing I don't like about the anime calendars, that there are no perforations to easily remove them. I've had to get out a box cutter and slide a piece of cardboard underneath to try to carefully cut off a page in order to save it.

The F/SN calendar is nice, though the Jan-Feb image is a little too risque to display openly. There are two images of Saber: one fully clothed, and one, well, much less so. No visible parts (strategic placement of hands), but still not something that would be safe in front of people who know nothing of anime and would get the wrong idea.

only gripe is that the One Piece one used the same dumb metal strip like last yr, forcing you to tear each month off. i wish they'd used what Naruto and Bleach uses, so you just flip back each month. ah well, fantastic calendars, pics up soon

I got my Negima calendar a few days ago. Currently flattening it back out from shipping by stacking lots of books on top of it. This is the last time I pay 40 bucks for a calendar, ever. Not that it isn't a nice calendar, but 40 bucks for goodness sakes. You can have fandom or common sense but evidently never both. /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif

Just got mine this morning too.

Yeah, this has been a problem discussed before. You basically have to remove the top page to move on to the next one. It depends on what you want to do with the calendar pages: preserve or discard.

I want to keep them, so I usually use a box cutter to cut off the pages, wedging a piece of thin cardboard underneath the top sheet, so that I don't cut through the pages below.

If you don't want to kept the pages, then rip away.

bah, i hate these rip away calendars. i always mess up and end up destroying the ripped page so throw it away. such gorgeous artwork, all calendars should be like '07 Bleach and Naruto calendars. they are so easy to change sheets cuz of the binding, and they allow you to keep the entire calendar intact

*weeps at One Piece '06 calendar*

Hi, I just recieved and opened up the Kanon '07 calender and I feel stupid asking but anyway, how does it work. I noticed it has a little hook to hang on the wall but when yo fold on page over, it covers up. Do you rip the old page out?
:P

There IS a way to keep it intact. I do it every year.

This works for hanging calendars on a door. I haven't tried it on a wall. Take a length of ribbon and criss-cross the two ends at the top of the door and secure them to the TOP of the door with a thumbtack. Now take your calendar and put the back half of the pages through the ribbon. Now your calendar is suspended on the ribbon....like a coat hanger, only without the nasty hook in the way. (For extra stability, put last year's calendar over the ribbon and this year's calendar on top of last year's calendar.) When it comes time to turn the first page over, loop it back through the ribbon so it hangs down the back. You'll get that little loop effect of the first page, but it won't really interfere with your viewing the next page. If you do it loosely, there won't be any damage to your calendar that you can't flatten out at the end of the year. By the time you get to the back of the calendar, you can engineer things the opposite way to display those pages.

Try it. :catgirl:

Ugh.. I wish I found this thread earlier, I've heard about these tear calendars but had no idea how they worked till now. I must sound like a noob but I'm going to get the Trigun and Hellsing wall calendars, for work and home respectively. Haven't ordered them yet, but will in a couple weeks. Thanks, for the heads up on Jlist though, I was thinking about ordering there....

Thanks everyone. I'll be sure to give it a shot when I'm ready to hang up my calender next year. It feels a little early right now. :P

I really haven't found a calendar I like yet. The last couple years, the Shirow Masamune calendars have been really great, but next year's previews look less interesting to me, having included more male characters. I also had one last year that highlighted some girls from manga, although I didn't recognize any. This year, the Shirow MAsamune calendar served sole duty, but next year may have to be without.

Anyone have any suggestions for a work-friendly non series specific monthly wall calendar that features atteactive manga/anime girls? It has to be rated no more than PG-13, and fit on my cubicle wall.

And it's great that it's not a tear away calendar.

The two calendars I went for this year. Both are pretty high quality with a great choice in artwork used. For Suzuka there is a neat cel layer effect. Interestingly the Suzuka sample image show two girls in Santa costumes, but it's not in the actual calendar.

Cool. Mine came in also and I'm happy about it again. And it has another cute mini-calendar with Mokona and Modoki. The manga calendar has been ringbound for the last three years. (I think three years..maybe more.)

I also got my Kingdom Hearts comic calendar. Its a desk calendar that's a hardbound little book with a piece to set it up on for display. I don't have a camera to show pictures unfortunately. Seems to have mostly novel pictures and some new ones. Ranges from Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II, with one or two from the first Kingdom Hearts. I'll see if I can scan it in or something.

The book does seem more like a little planner as it has four pages for addresses and phone numbers in the back. Cute little calendar.

I just saw this there, a wall calendar for Yotsuba&:

I've just taken my Yotsuba&! tear away out of its wrapping (and by the way, what does himekuri literally mean?), and I've got the Fate/Stay Night school wall calendar up on the wall now (which makes 2 F/SN calendars, with the regular 2007 wall calendar up on another wall).

I ordered mine through Kinokuniya and haven't had a chance to get down to pick it up. More than likely going to just send a friend how owes me the favor to pick it up. I usually end up getting my calender in mid April anyway so I'm used to being a little behind. I'm left staring at the "Bakudan/bomb" image but that's okay. ^^;
