Seriously.... Why Isn't Pita Ten Licensed?

Seriously?

Can anyone from the R1 industry shed some light onto why Pita Ten hasn't been licensed yet? Here's what I have heard:

- Pita Ten, the anime, is licensed but the R1 "company" that has the license will not come forward. No explanation given as to why they remain in the shadows (Mr. Smith?).

- It's too expensive. Nobody will license Pita Ten, the anime, for the R1 region because of the cost. The original Japanese licensor just wants to much damn money.

- It's too old. No really. That's what I've heard. Silly, but yet it floats around like the sweet smelling puck in a stadium toilet.

- It sucks and not worth the license it's printed on. Compared to the manga, that is.

So. Anyone? Anyone have a clue? Anyone know the real cost to license this show (seriously)? DLW? Shawne? Anyone from the R1 companies know A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G-?

I want this licensed too, but I don't expect it to ever be announced at this rate.

Sync point has it and it wont be worked on till I'm gonna be an Angel is finished.

Also costs too much money to dub the entire series so you need to buy more of the Galaxy Angel books and stuff to fund em /images/graemlins/happy.gif

I did that and they denied have the license. Do they still post here?

Sadly due to the fact there are series with <insert problem here> that remain unlicensed yet other series with supposedly the same exact problem get licensed. It's hard to tell what the real truth with Pitaten is. I still cling to hope it will be licensed because of past licensed while at the same time not holding my breath due to the doom and gloom market...

I've always thought of Pita Ten as a show that should have been licensed yet, for whatever reason, slipped through the cracks. Typically, when that happens, the show's future in R1 ain't bright.

It's unfortunate, of course. I'd purchase Pita Ten in a heartbeat.

John over at Anime Nation once commented (in his "Ask John" column) that they had looked into licensing it a few years ago and that the license was just prohibitively expensive for any American licensor. The suggestion being that while the show may do relatively well in R1, it would never do well enough to recoup its licensing fees (not to mention production costs...).

The show doesn't really exist!
