I thought I saw a thread here a while ago on this same subject. I looked for it, but can't find it. Feel free to point me in the direction needed if it's been very recently discussed...

What are the Macross series in order of story chronology?

There's a sale at TRSI on Manga Entertainment and I was thinking about picking up some of the Macross titles they have. I've never watched Macross before and the only thing I know about it is that it had a big influence on Robotech.

Someone want to be so kind as to explain the chronological order of them to me and if one series/movie is related to the other in story or just in name only?

Thanks

here's the correct chronology:

http://macross.anime.net/story/chronology

The canon Macross-series from Mangle Entertainment is Macross Plus, a direct sequel that's set in year-2040, about 28-years after the events from both Macross-TV and Macross-DYRL.

The other Macross-series from Mangle is Macross-II, and is not a true sequel. It's a parallel-universe adaptation similar to the Alternate-Universe (AU) series in the Gundam-franchise.

Macross Plus is great. Good story, good music(Information High rocks) and good mech combat.
