Should Dirty Pair go yuri?

But what would you think about Kei and Yuri hooking up in a future anime? It could be the Original DP, Flash, or maybe some new incarnation. They definitley skirted with this before, and personally I think they make an extremely cute couple who I ship pretty hard. I got pissed when it seemed lik Kei was going to hook up with that guy in Project Eden (yes, I'm that much of a nerd). They do bicker a lot at times, but maybe they could transfer that over to being a bickering couple. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

But in general I just want to see more of them so I hope a new anime gets produced at some point either way, and I hope the original tv series finally gets released over here more than anything. But what are your thoughts on this thread's subject?

Of course Dirty Pair should go yuri. It would be an awesome show if it did. Other than just the action, we could watch it for the romance between the two leads.

I'm entirely with you on wanting to see more Dirty Pair material, whether it be new stuff or just have the TV series brought over. Both seem unlikely, and I've had to get my DP fix lately from the Adam Warren ameri-manga stuff (which, I have to admit, I like his style).

But I digress; both Kei and Yuri are rather boy-crazy, and I don't really see this being a possibility, even if I'd like to see it. Perhaps with some new material and a sort of series "restart", similar to what they did with the Burn-Up franchise (i.e. Scramble, which sucked BTW), they could let some artistic license take the helm.

There's a Cream Lemon episode that does a fantastic Dirty Pair parody. The episode was titled "Star Trap". IIRC it had both a yuri sex scene and a second sex scene which had the Kei-like character turning into a guy.

Nahhh. Normally, I'm all over yuri (and Yuri, too), but the Pair have such a history of guy chasing that it just doesn't seem credible to hook them up. And there's never really been a hint of that sort of romantic tension between them.

I don't think thats really true at all. There has been subtext before. Like in Flight 005 Conspiracy I belive theres a scene where Yuri pinches Kei's butt and she appears to like it. Then theres the Affair of the Nolandia which I felt was pretty suggestive. In Flash theres also the scene where Kei starts rubbing Yuri's shoulders, and then gets embarassed after she gets carried away with it. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Naw. The sexual tension between them makes the series more enjoyable. Making it yuri would just make it annoying. Then you'd have all the "relationship" drama bullshit to deal with.

You do have a good point. The tension does keep me entertained. Perhaps they could have them hooking up as the conclusion to the end of an anime, as oposed to them being in a relationship the whole time. Seeing them in a relationship could be entertaining though, but yeah there would definitely need to be much effort into forming a new status quo that doesn't jump the shark.

Related note, what would people think of a DP Flash movie?

hey, I dig retro stuff (just check my avatar) but going back to the DP Flash Character designs wouldn't be prudent, just get some hot shot current character designer and the ppl who had done DP before to collaborate and make a new project.

She does, but only with much reluctance (DPF 2, episode 4).

I'm a fan of Dirty Pair, but I can't see it. Fortunately, we have Studio Katsudon's (Johji Manabe) doujinshi for that, along with the American-produced "doujinshi" Nostagia.

The idea would ruin a couple plot constants in the show. The idea of them getting distracted by boys would not be there. The teasing they do about boys would not be there. They sometimes have a discussion about a topic and you really know they are talking about other things in a sexual innuendo and that would be lost. They also have a professional distance between the two that would interfere with their duty if they had a love interest in each other. It would just be a whole new anime.

You could base a show on dirty Pair like characters but have them in a Yuri situation.
