Hello peoples,

I've just watched a hentai anime 'menage a twins' and the penny just dropped for me. I would like to know if the references in a variety of hentai anime where there is an incest situation, are edited to remove the reference from what might be too close a familial connection. I.e. a mother becoming a stepmother in a situation or a sister becoming a stepsister.

Are anime edited for the western audience to remove this?

And if so what has been edited?

I've seen some pretty heavy stuff from japan that would not be allowed here.
I've also seen the movie Taboo from the 1980's and that is allowed here.
So what is going on?

any info would be much appreciated.

Sometimes there's some license taken with the subtitles to disguise a character's age or relationship. Many shows that take place in high school for example will refer to the characters being in "college" in the subtitles, or being "nineteen" years old. F3 actually mocks the whole incest thing with on-screen text (in the original Japanese version) insisting that characters who claim to be aren't actually related; that's the only time I've seen it used for comedic effect.

Yeah, I always found the "junior college" students wearing high school and junior high school uniforms to be the funniest part of the whole thing. I don't know that any incest issues are ever changed. I think that it's mostly just ages, to conform to the anti child porn laws here before they made the (more) recent changes to the laws.
