Girls Team Series Championships: Draft Closed!!

Now for those coaches that didn't competite in the BOS you will have five picks to cover four archetype pools. But there are six possible archetypes and two of them will be dropped after all the coaches have drafted. So think carefully when drafting your picks.

Mature, Tomboy, Inhuman, Wallflower, Angelic, & Devilish are the six possible archetypes pools so keep that in mind when drafting.

<font color="red">Warning! Warning! These will only be guidelines and coaches (and voters) may take them as they will.</font>

Mature: Referring to either chronological or mental maturity of this female. This archetype can either be older then the typical anime character or acts much older then her years.

Tomboy: A girl who behaves according to the stereotypical gender role of a boy. Usually this includes appearance of hair and clothing, but not always.

Inhuman: Whether in mind, body, or spirit this girl is not quite human. Aliens, demon, beast, or artificial are all examples. This archetype can also include those that act without compunction or human feeling.

Wallflower: Shy girls with a low self esteem are typical of this archetype. They tend not participate in activities at a social event because of fear or unpopularity.

Angelic: A girl that is known for their sweet nature and kindness toward others. Willing to sacrifice her own well being to help others and is consider the epitome of goodness.

Devilish: A girl whose shows great cunning or wickedness in getting what they want. Especially delights in teasing and provoking others around them.

yeah, I need a little clarification on how much time we have. I'm all set with my first pick, obviously, but I'm also here at work and at some moments I may not be able to make it back to the computer. If I'm understanding correctly, if it's my turn next, I have 24 hours to respond.

From what I read in the other thread, the timer doesn't even start until 12:01 AM PST, regardless of how many people start early. So whoever's turn it is when 12:01 am rolls around gets 24 hours regardless.

Yes it means that draft picks can come at any time, so when the 12:01am PST deadline comes up the draft clock will offically start. No matter who is up to draft they will likely have a little more then 24 hours to actually make a pick. Hope that makes everything clear as mud.

Oh and can you pin the other highlight show thread as it will have the team standings and other info. I'm not really worried about the drafting thread staying afloat.

I always seem to end up toward the ends of the snake in every game that I've been in so far. Both the Fall 2005 and Spring 2006 VA Drafts, I was at the ends of the snake (16/16 - Fall 2005, 1/16 - Spring 2006). That is IF it comes over. There are some out there saying that this is a "niche" title and that it won't appeal to all fans. I can see why they would say that, but technically ALL anime is "niche." Hopefully the YouTube and forum-community will persuade an R1 company to "take a chance" on this one. ;D

While I'm a really big Misato fan, she wasn't on my pick list, as I was going a different way, and was sure that the obvious picks would go early.

I'd say Belle has the edge but Fruits Basket's dominance in the Boys Tournament (wins for Ayame and Momiji, final round for Shigure and Yuki and Kyo's 'victory' in the mascot competition) suggests Tohru has to be a favourite as well.

And of course, the two SOS girls - and what do you think the odds the third won't join them sooner than later either? Haruhi was my devil pick so grr, but I knew she'd go quick...Misato however was an awesome pick I never even thought of for mature...

Anyway, the early start suggests already some good competition so let's see how the rest pans out. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

You know, you don't have to specify what category you are picking them for, even though with Sakaki it might be a stretch. She could fit another category or two, you might as well as keep them guessing...

I'm wondering if the people who will have two picks close to each other will think of it as an advantage or a disadvantage. I do like having some space between picks to see what others are doing/picking, but maybe that is just me. Oh, and solid picking so far, Faye and Ryuunoske were pretty high on my list too. Ryu was so obvious she was definitely the first one I thought of when I looked at the tomboy category. Now whether she will be popular enough, that will be the question...

I'm hoping Inhuman stays around after the cut, just because it would be interesting to see who people pick for the category. It seems to have more potential for variety then the other categories.

She sort of fits the description, but I'm not sure that anyone that understood who she was would really call her a wallflower. I didn't think she was really shy, or fearful, but rather the other students pushed her away. She isn't interested in sports, and everyone kept thinking that she should be in the sports clubs, rather than in the other things. She is definitely intimidatingly tall for a Japanese schoolgirl. It took Chiyo-chan to get the others to accept her...

But, she is definitely not confident in her tallness, although completely confident in her athletic and academic abilities...

That said, I think that she would fit well into a couple other categories as well, and Sakaki is certainly very popular.

While there have been a lot of heavy hitters drafted in the first round, the second and third picks overall going to characters from a series that hasn't found someone to license it in R1 yet is a big surprise. While Haruhi does have its loyal camp of fans, I see drafting these two so early as being a bit risky since they have to wait about 25-30 picks before picking again and have some stronger picks get swallowed up by other teams. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif But then, they may have been thinking that another team might try to snatch them late in the first round or early in the second round and they wanted these characters badly enough that they had to pull the trigger right away. /images/graemlins/knowital.gif

The unlicensed characters will be very interesting to watch as the show is getting a lot of buzz around here. Just wonder if that will translate into points. I know it worked in the Moe Tourney but I don't remember if it worked in the AD or BOS?

Well that is one of the marked differance from both the GTSC and BOS to the Anime Draft. Both of these games aren't as position senstive as the Anime Draft. Each coach will decide where to send their players and draft to lightly covered archetypes. Right now the Tomboy and Angelic seem to be the focus. Plus you don't need to win all the pools just do well and get at least a few into the finals.

Yeah, you guys have it easy. Last two weeks, I've been on the midnight to 2am "maintenance" shift, while still expected to work 8am to 6pm. And, I'm salary, so they just get a free slave.

If my cable modem hadn't died last night, I would have still been working when my pick came up... At least I got a early night, at 2am...

Sorry I'm late guys - I'm gonna apologise now because as I'm from England, it's I think 6 hours difference between the US and the Uk, plus I too have a dreaded 8 hr shift job - albeit in the mornings, but it's for the Uk Government (more specifically - the Inland Revenue - I investgate fraud...nuff said) so if I've delayed things I apologise, but not even I'm willing to get on my PC at 5am to make my pick...

She's my favourite anime heroine first of all, and if it comes up, she's my angelic pick. Well time for me to post again, after begin gone to work for awhile I had to update all the files and rosters. Oh Tomcat if I could get that neko Rei I would use it if you would like.

Anyhoo I think the drafting is going just fine. You have to remember the BOS only had 12 teams while the GTSC has 16 so yes it is a little slower.

Well it looks like all the major competitors in the Mature archetype that I immediately thought of have been drafted. It could be a real battle if they all get sent there. Of course there are many more good ones I thought of later are still out there. In reallity if just two show in the finals the other finalists can do well with the independant votes as Dark Mousey did in the Bishonen Battle of the Sohma Family Feud. Even better is that these pool finals will have four way battle royale instead of the three way like the BOS.

Oh and remember these late round picks can be just as important as the early picks as they could just end up facing them.

Damn this thread is getting huge and we haven't gotten to the half way point yet. Well when it gets to around 180 or so I will copy the draft board and be set to make a new thread.

Thanks. I have my choices for mature, inhuman and tomboy out of the way. I will probably use my other two choices on wallflower and angelic, since I have several girls in mind for both categories.

There's only one girl I'm thinking of that has occasional "devilish" tendencies but I don't think the character's overall personality would fit. Other than her I really can't think of any really devilish females that I like.

Back from my birthday bash, and some really good picks (including one picked by friend/rival TnAdct1 in Fujiko who was going to be my next pick...I'll get you...:P) - Of the ones I'm fearful the most include Melfina (very versatile), Lust (FMA and is a good pick for mature, inhuman and devilish), Kisa (Furuba is near untouchable at times and Kisa is a perfect wallflower) and of course Fujiko.

Hopefully by Sunday night maybe it will come close to the end of the 4th round and to the end of the draft - my head is hurting from the overthinking...

That is one reason why I didn't pick her until the later rounds: while mentally she's more mature than most girls her age (and a few girls in high school homeroom /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif ), the fact that I didn't know what people would be thinking about when it came to the "mature" category caused me to question whether or not I should choose her (especially since I kinda consider Nodoka to be slightly more "angelic" (the other archetype I had in mind for Chiyo) than her, although Chiyo is still my favorite anime girl).

Wow, a lot of action for the 4th round -maybe getting my vote(s) in for tonight might not be as far a stretch as I thought...

Of the recent picks, the one I really liked was Kasumi Tendo - mature and angelic - she could be a real surprise - actually, at least two characters from Ranma would be excellent as tomboy and a couple as devilish - there a lot of Takahashi's work that could be used well here.

I've not seen the anime yet, but have been following the manga... I could see a couple fits for her... Mature, maybe devilish... Being an otaku, she might be a wallflower, but given that she is into cosplay, I don't think so... Probably mature is the best bet...
