Who's Your Favorite Akamatsu Girl

So I finished reading Negima volume 11 the other day, and watched volume 2 of the anime not too long before that. I was kind of wondering what everyone's top 5 or so favorite Ken Akamatsu characters were. At first I was thinking Negima characters only, but then I decided to widen the poll to include Love Hina on the off chance that the non-lolis in it may be more popular. Me personally, I think I may have to go with a tie between Evangeline A. K. McDowell and Fei Ku as my favorite characters. Second Place, Mutsumi Otohime and Setsuna Sakurazaki. Honorable Mention, Zazie Rainyday, Kanako Urashima and whatever character happens to be caught clad in only Sexy Lingerie in that particular volume. /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif

It's still Mutsumi Otohime for me. Asakura and Haruna (Paru) from Negima get honorable mentions from me. Hope they more character development soon. Oh, and Yue's cool too.

Without a doubt: Student number 30, Satsuki Yotsuba. Sweetness without excessive shyness. I also love her way of speaking.

My favorite from Love Hina is Mutsumi Otohime, from AI Love You, I like Forty, and Silvia Maruyama is my favorite Mao-chan girl.

Shinobu Maehara and Nodoka Miyazaki for me. Another favourite would be Chisame Hasegawa aka Chiu, her antics just put a smile to my face. On a side note does anybody know why Del Ray changed her idol name to Chu? The name on her homepage from vol.2 clearly says Chiu.

Gotta go with Setsuna. Not only am I weak to warrior girls, <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>lesbians, and wings</span>; but just as that little subplot was being played out in the manga a friend introduced me to that fanfic abomination known as <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>wingfic</span>, of which Akamatsu's Setsuna provides a textbook example.

When it comes to the works of Ken Akamatsu, my favorite is rather obvious if you've read some of my posts: Nodoka.

As for other girls, I also like Nodoka's fellow library trio members (Yue and Haruna) in Negima while when it comes to Love Hina, I like Kaolla and Shinobu.

Yue and Chisame for me from Negima, though I really enjoy Asuna a lot as well. From Love Hina, my favourite is probably Motoko - her development in the manga is a personal favourite thing for me...

• Saati (AI Love You) — you can kind of tell that Akamatsu was still figuring the whole business out, and she was the most appealing of a sort of limited cast.
• Motoko (Love Hina) — best character growth overall, and she started off in the lead for me; besides, she was /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif in the evening dress. Um.
• Misora-chan (Mao-chan) — because I said so. I don't even know, myself, but I guess she just suited me? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?
• Konoka (Negima!) — she's the one pure ray of sunshine in the series (and it's pretty bright overall, so she really stands out); with everything else being a little bit warped, that purity becomes very funny. (Honorable mention to Sat-chan and Chizu-ne.)

Of the bunch, I like Motoko the best, then Konoka.

Never like any of the girls from Love Hina but for Negima It would be Nodika and Yue first off both like books and as I have read a LOT of books over the years I have kinred feeling for them. After them it would be Chisame, she can not loosen up with out putting on a new persona and Natsumi because she has a complex about the way she looks(freckles). As for number five&lt; I will have to think about who she is.

While I would have been greatly pissed if Love Hina had ended any other way (manga way, not BS anime non-ending), I actually think I like Motoko the best. She is really rough in the beginning, and a man hater, but by the end of the series, she became one of the most feminine of the characters, and one of the cutest. Plus, you have to love a girl that carries a katana.

And Yuu Asakawa! What an awesome voice, she can do cute and also tough, and can sing well also.

Yeah, definitely Motoko.

There are two many girls in Negima to really pick one. Probably Asakura, Kaede, or one that had the compactio with the previous magister.

Akamatsu seems to clone his characters quite often. /images/graemlins/happy.gif You're probably right too, but like I said I haven't seen Negima so I can't say. The original is usually best though. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

My favourite Akamatsu character is Yue Ayase from Negima. She's intelligent, level headed and always the first to figure things out (something that has gotten Negi and crew through more than one battle). Some of my other favourites include Asuna Kagurazaka, Evangeline A.K. McDowell, Setsuna Sakurazaki and Shinobu Maehara.

Mutsumi Otohime from Love Hina and as a consequence, her clone, Chizuru Naba from Negima.

Kitsune from Love Hina and as a consequence, her clone, Kasumi Asakura from Negima.

I also like Mana Tatsumiya (despite/in spite of her actions in the latest volume--there is something so refreshing about someone so mercenary).... I just realized that anyone that Chamo has called "Anego" is on my list (I feel that should bother me for some reason...).

Mana Tatsumiya, hands down. She kicks an insane amount of arse. And you gotta love a femme who can dress all slinky like that, and carry a pair of pistols in gartered holsters in the firearm equivalent of hammerspace. ^_^

While there Akamatsu girls I like, I can say without a doubt Naru is not one of them. Okay granted at first I liked her, but as she showed her true form I quickly grew to hate. She's a major reason it's hard to rewatch Love Hina in general.

Ah, Naru isn't that bad. She is just really frustrating because of her uncertainty about her feelings and stuff. If you remove that, she's actually a pretty nice person.

I think she was also much better in the manga, but didn't really loose her signature punch.

For me, the crappy writing and divergence from the manga is what makes if very hard for me to watch the anime again. The Christmas one isn't too bad, but from about 1/2 through the TV to the end of all animated... It just gets way off track.

It IS supposed to be Chiu, part of the lyrics for her image song are even "C-H-I-U" (in English). If Del Rey has been spelling it as "Chu", then it's another mistake that they haven't noticed yet.

In the original Japanese manga, while the order is "Ku(u) Fei" her given name and what most of her classmates call her is Ku. Fei is her family name.

I have to go with Shinobu from Love Hina as well. She was my favorite of all the Love Hina girls and I haven't seen that much of Akamatsu's other girls to have an opinion on them.

Mine would be Makie Sasaki-Of Negima, followed closely by Nodoka and Yue of Negima as well as Motoko from Love Hina.
