If this doesn't belong here then feel free to delete it, move it, stomp on it. I don't care just don't yell at me /images/graemlins/shy00000.gif I just thought that some of you may find these tours interesting and I really didn't know where else to post it on the forums. OK on with the post.

PopJapantravel.com has listed their Winter/Spring tours for 2007. They include a Samurai and Snow Tour, a Gothic Lolita Tour, a Yaoi tour, and an Ultimate Ninja tour.

I will be going on the Ultimate Ninja tour(watch me probably end up being the only female) myself if they get the required 30 people. I've never been to Japan(hell, I live in Virginia, and Florida is the farthest away I've ever been), but I think that for a first trip a structured tour is the right way to go. Then if I enjoy myself I can go back another time on my own.

Oh and if anyone is interested the Ninja tour is the only one that doesn't have the price listed yet, but it is supposed to me up before the end of the year. They are already taking reservations for it though.

It will be interesting to see if they get enough people for the Yaoi and Gothic Lolita tours. There were definitely enough fans of both at Otakon to fill the tours, but I don't know.

Oh and anyone that has been to Japan, please pop over and take a look at the tour and tell me if you think it will be a good starter tour for someone who has never been. Thanks

If going overseas, then sure, a tour like PopJapan would be a good starting point. Hell, they're going with Singapore Airlines - that's a very BIG plus in my book.

That said, if this is your first time abroad, perhaps you'd be better off with a more "generic" tour - not so anime/manga-focused. See more of Japan, get a good mix in there.

I don't know if the Ninja themed tour is really all that anime focused. It goes to the Ghibli Museum and thats really it for anime. I think it looks like a pretty nice tour: goes to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, which some sides trips to Nara and other places. All of these I went to on my first trip to Japan as well and I had a lot of fun (Todaiji Temple has got to be one of my favorite places in the country). I guess for me personally the emphasis on Ninjas goes a little overboard, but hey going to a Ninja festival could be a very interesting experience. If its your first time going to Japan, I think you'll have a lot of fun. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

The Pop Japan tours are a very nice way to get a taste of Japan. I took their spring tour the first time I went to Japan and it helped me get used to the country. My non-tour trips were much easier after that first one with the tour group.

For the tours that end in Tokyo, you might want to add 2-3 days extra at the end to explore Tokyo on your own. The people at PJT helped me arrange this.

As for that collection of trips, I'm tempted by the Ninja tour. And a little by the Gothic Lolita tour. /images/graemlins/happy.gif Don't think I'll be able to do either, sicne I'm planing on being back there for Cherry blossom season next year again. And the Yaoi/Bishonen tour at that time of the year isn't quite my style. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Very interesting...However, I enjoyed going to Japan by myself.

A few of us from our local anime club are thinking of going next year, but it's a toss-up between the Samurai & Snow or the Gothic & Lolita. I'm kinda disappointed that there's no Anime Fair tour next year, though.

Not thinking of going at the time, but I am curious of something. If you chose land-only then everything including hotel accomadations is included right? Also, it appears that it's 700 for air-trip, but you have to get yourself to Los Angeles by yourself or do they do it for you for an additional pay?

I don't know 1,650 seems a little steep although if you work in hotel and the safety of ebing with a group I guess it's okay. How much with the group are you though. Do they give you time to wander off for to buy something?

I was more so interested in the Gothic Lolita tour, but I peeked at the Yaoi tour out of mere curiousity and saw the vist to Swallowtail Butler Cafe anyone been there I had read about a similar one that had women attendants dressed as men. That would perhaps be more appropriate for the that kind of tour... or maybe not. lol

I can answer a couple of your questions.

1. Land only - everything that is listed is included but the airfare

2. You can either book your own flight to LA, or they will book it for you at an extra cost

You can go to ://www.popjapantravel.com/ (http://www.popjapantravel.com/) and click on the forum link. You can ask all your questions there.
