I'm sure there is a thread here but my search engine isn't working and I've gone back a ton of pages. I'm leary to see this since there is only 8 volumes of manga out so far if I remember correctly which means it will either run really short or go to filler too quickly. Hmmm, I guess I'll have to wait and see.

As much as I love D.Gray-Man I thought the move to animate it came too quickly honestly, since as you mentioned there isn't that much material to go on. But I'll probably watch it all anyway and hope that if it does go into filler it's at least decent filler that doesn't undo what's been extablished already for characters and the story like bad fillers tend to do.

Last I checked, there was about 10 volumes or more out. The current arc isn't completed but there's MORE than enough for a really good 26 episode series or even a 52 if it takes the right steps

Like others, I will watch it to see if it's any good. I'm vary of how they will end the show, as it could be either good or bad depending on what they choose to do.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this (aswell as the upcoming Death Note). Never got round to checking the manga out so hopefully the anime is decent.

I feel this is awesome news, I already can't wait for the Death Note anime but I also share your concerns about the possible filler.

I haven't read the manga yet because my order still hasn't been filled from Rightstuf. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

Nice stuff. I'm pleasantly surprised with the adaption. Art and animation are adequate and eye-pleasing. The bgm and sound effects were very fitting and well done and enhanced the dark, victorian atmosphere a great deal. The voice actors did also a good job. Allen sounds as I imagined him and the Millenium Earl is awesome. As for the OP and ED, I liked both of them and wont skip them for the time being, especially since some of the characters wont appear for quite some time and the OP cameos are all we'll get for now. Overall, if they can keep this quality level, this'll be a regular part of my upcoming season's viewing list.

I didn't know what it was either. As it is it looks interesting so far. Dark shows tend to have fugly character designs, but this one had anything but.

I really liked how they've adapted the manga for the anime so far. It seems weird they're skipping the next story, but I can only assume they're doing that so they can get to the rest of the main cast quicker and will introduce the information about Allen's past that you learn about in those chapters in later episodes.

I think the only complaint I have is that the shadows in the anime swallow up the action a little which bugs me a bit, but other than that I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of the series.

Really liked the first episode - was already considering picking up the manga, but the anime just might lead to me actually doing so. Very nice character designs and decent animation, and definitely seems like a series that could go some very interesting places with the set up.

It's interesting what you say about Allen's past being introduced at this point in the manga but not the anime, because when I watched Ep 1 (having never so much as laid eyes on the manga) I thought like it needed a little more explanation about who this kid was.

I'm enjoying this show quite a lot more than I thought I would. I was iffy on if I was even going to try it, but now that I did I'm glad.

When I first looked at the listings of what's scheduled, it said 13 episodes. After episode 4, I know that's impossible -- they've introduced a fraction of the characters in the OP and gone on one mission that they're sill working on, so it's clearly not a third over already.

Only 12 episodes worth of DVDs are solicited in Japan, but if you look at the picture on the left here (http://www.aniplex.co.jp/dgrayman/), it looks like 13 DVDs, and since 1-3 are 4 eps each I assume that will hold, making 52 eps.

So my question of course, is if that will be it? I assume nobody knows but... I recently swore to myself that I'd never watch a show longer than 52 episodes again (prefer nothing tops the 30's really) and I really don't want to get hooked on this show just to be hit with a license and a wait of years and years to see more, like I'm facing with Bleach and Naruto. I'd rather skip the show entirely and save myself the frustration of waiting. There's certainly plenty of other things to watch.

I do like it so far, and I'm impressed that an enemy is giving Allen so much trouble so early on (this evolved demon showed up at the end of 3 and is still going strong as I start episode 5). Lenalee in particular looks like she'll be right up my alley. The animation is pretty decent and the music works. But if this is going to run more than 52 eps (or god forbid 100+), I just want nothing to do with it -_-

It doesn't seem like the typical Shounen Jump fighting show that tends to go forever, but still, I want to be sure. I know its a Jump property but what I mean is, it's not... Naruto or Bleach or anything in that vein.

So if there's no more information than what I saw (3 dvds solicited at 4 eps each, and that image there that if accurate would conveniently imply exactly 52 episodes), then I'll just wait and see, but if anyone familiar with the manga or anything else has any ideas, let me know. Thanks.
