Just a Girl

Take this pink ribbon off my eyes
I’m exposed
And it’s no big surprise
Don’t you think I know
Exactly where I stand
This world is forcing me
To hold your hand

’cause I’m just a girl, oh little ol’ me
Well don’t let me out of your sight
Oh I’m just a girl, all pretty and petite
So don’t let me have any rights
Oh... I’ve had it up to here!

The moment that I step outside
So many reasons
For me to run and hide
I can’t do the little things I hold so dear
’cause it’s all those little things
That I fear

’cause I’m just a girl,
I’d rather not be
’cause they won’t let me drive
Late at night
Oh I’m just a girl,
Guess I’m some kind of freak
’cause they all sit and stare
With their eyes
Oh I’m just a girl,
Take a good look at me
Just your typical prototype
Oh... I’ve had it up to here!

Oh... am I making myself clear?
I’m just a girl
I’m just a girl in the world...
That’s all that you’ll let me be!

Oh I’m just a girl, living in captivity
Your rule of thumb
Makes me worry some
Woh I’m just a girl, what’s my destiny?
What I’ve succumbed to
Is making me numb
Oh I’m just a girl, my apologies
What I’ve become is so burdensome
Oh I’m just a girl, lucky me
Twiddle-dum there’s no comparison

Oh... I’ve had it up to!
Oh... I’ve had it up to!!
Oh oh oh oh oh ... I’ve had it up to here.

This round seems to have a good number of close battles so far, good, makes things more interesting.

I do apologize to ryuunosuke, I'd vote for her against almost anyone in this pool, but Ed is one of my all-time favorites. /images/graemlins/shy10000.gif Can't help that, I'm afraid.

I'm a bit surprised Anita has been so strong in her contests so far, I had her on my list of candidates, but I really didn't think she would be that good.

Mikoto Minagi, Mai-Hime vs. Mikura Suzuki, Mezzo Forte/DSA - Mikoto it is.

Riza Hawkeye, Fullmetal Alchemist vs. Haruka Shitou, Rahxephon - As much as I thought Haruka was a cool character, I never thought "tomboy" when I watched Rahxephon, so it's not enough to get a vote when I'm nto familiar with Riza. Pass.

Faye Valentine, Cowboy Bebop vs. Anita King, Read or Die TV - Almost the same problem here. Almost. Faye just barely registers enough to get a vote, I guess.

Utena Tenjou, Revolutionary Girl Utena vs. Meryl Strife, Trigun - I'm sure I'd be voting Utena in a heartbeat if I'd seen Utena (I hope to one day), but I haven't, so, pass.

Motoko Aoyama, Love Hina vs. Anna Heart, Kaleido Star - Hrm... different issue than with Haruka. Anna I don't care much about either way as a character, but she is sort of a tomboy. Or maybe she's just goofy. But again, since I haven't seen Love Hina, I have to pass.

Madoka Ayukawa, Kimagure Orange Road vs. Kino, Kino's Journey - Kino is love.

Casca, Berserk vs. Niea, Niea_7 - Is Caska good enough to vote though I Havent seen Niea? Hmmmm... oh sure why not? She's certainly tomboyish.

Ryuunosuke Fujinami, Urusei Yatsura vs. Ed (Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivursky IV), Cowboy Bebop - I don't like Ed, so, pass.

Not much of interest in this pool, again. Eh~

*******Mikoto Minagi, Mai-Hime
-----VS-----
Mikura Suzuki, Mezzo Forte/DSA*******

Mikoto for the same reasons as before - she looks more a tomboy whilst Mikura would have been better for mature. I still love Mikura more as a character though...

*******Riza Hawkeye, Fullmetal Alchemist
-----VS-----
Haruka Shitou, Rahxephon*******

Abstained due to not much interest in either.

*******Faye Valentine, Cowboy Bebop
-----VS-----
Anita King, Read or Die TV*******

Anita for the similar reasons as I voted for Mikoto. (Though this time I like the chibiko more...:P)

*******Utena Tenjou, Revolutionary Girl Utena
-----VS-----
Meryl Strife, Trigun*******

Utena easily.

*******Motoko Aoyama, Love Hina
-----VS-----
Anna Heart, Kaleido Star*******

Anna gets my vote mainly due to Motoko's change of look through the LH series.

*******Madoka Ayukawa, Kimagure Orange Road
-----VS-----
Kino, Kino's Journey*******

She's my character, but even if she wasn't, Kino is the other strong showing for me. Keep it up Kino!

*******Casca, Berserk
-----VS-----
Niea, Niea_7*******

Casca due to lack of Niea 7 for me...

*******Ryuunosuke Fujinami, Urusei Yatsura
-----VS-----
Ed (Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivursky IV), Cowboy Bebop*******

Ryunnosuke - Weird considering Cowboy Bebop is one of my fave series and I've voted against them twice...

Still some tight matches here. Haruka and Riza are tied. Motoko has a one vote lead over Anna Heart. Let's see some voting over here. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Surprisingly in the pool with the most tightest races the top four Anita King, Read or Die TV, Casca, Berserk, Kino, Kino's Journey, and Ed - Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivursky IV, Cowboy Bebop are all winning their contest rather handly. Only thing at stake is the order of the top four.

Unfortunely for the next three players Riza Hawkeye, Fullmetal Alchemist, Haruka Shitou, Rahxephon, and Motoko Aoyama, Love Hina are all in super tight races that can only drop further out of the race or knock them almost out of it. With Niea, Niea_7 already facing such a bleak future.

It is nice to see a strong showing for Utena Tenjou, Revolutionary Girl Utena our pink haired protangist that lost fairly badly in the first round. While still a longshot at this point to make the finals she is at least positioning herself for a run if an opening does happen.

Mikoto Minagi vs. Mikura Suzuki -- One, the first time I saw her concept art when the series was first being planned, I thought she was a guy. Two, she anything but a girly-girl. Three, I just love the way she swings her sword, but that's just my favoritism speaking there... and I never understood how Mikura was a tomboy. Yeah, she has a gun... but she's a total flirt, right?

Riza Hawkeye vs. Haruka Shitou -- I haven't seen Rahxephon, but I have to support my team nonetheless. Aim for the win, Hawkeye!

Faye Valentine vs. Anita King -- She's lazy, sloppy, rude, drinks milk straight from the carton, anything but girly... and doesn't really care cuz that's the way she likes it. Gotta love her. Plus, Faye's not really a tomboy, just a flirt with a gun.

Utena Tenjou vs. Meryl Strife -- It hurt to vote against her last time for Hawkeye's sake, but this time, my vote is with the pink-haired prince.

Motoko Aoyama vs. Anna Heart -- She can't pull off a maid outfit. At all. Win.

Madoka Ayukawa vs. Kino -- For the first reason Mikoto won this round for me... only x100.

Casca vs. Niea -- Abstained. Haven't seen either and have limited information ATM

Ryuunosuke vs. Ed -- She was practically born a tomboy. Win.

A few people have commented in the threads that Mikura doesn't seem like a Tomboy to them... I feel it necessary to explain my view a bit, or I'm not being fair to Mikura, she's had the most trouble in her matches so far.

Firstly, I guess I just saw her differently then some of you; between the somewhat unfeminine hair style & clothes, rude speech, and hyper aggresive attitude, she never stuck me as being very girly. Consider her profession too, which most girls wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, and I never really saw her as a flirt. To each their own, however.

Also, she was my last pick, and I was trying to cover Tomboy and Devilish at the same time. Maggie, Lum, and Tohru COULD have been used for other categories...but it would have been a stretch. I had Maggie listed as a (very) tentative Tomboy as well. I doubt she would have done very well in that Category though. I had gotten a little versatility when I was able to draft Spoor, but if Mature stayed in, I would have preferred her for that. I could have switched it around, it didn't occur to me until later that Mikura could also do Mature, but either one of them would have been my Devilish, depending on what categories were dropped. And there were a few potential category pairs that might have given me some real fits so far as who to place where. I was REAL happy Devilish went away, personally.

So if you are wondering why this or that character was put into which section, just remember there were some drafting considerations that probably affected quite a few people. It worked out for me pretty good I would say, but I probably should have drafted for a bit more versatility. I dodged a bullet, somewhat. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Riza and Haruka was a tight race, but out of nowhere, Haruka ripped off like 12 votes in a row and now holds a 10 votes lead. /images/graemlins/stunned0.gif

Well, last poll had a total of 87 votes, with her getting 44 and Faye getting 43, so there are still a lot of missing votes.

Oh, I know. The voting just seemed really dead the last day or so, but then a lot came in overnight. I'm interested to see how many more come in the rest of the day.

Nieas gettin herself together!!

With only 9 votes behind 2nd Place (or is it 3rd?) Casca, Niea could win it! After all, she came from behind to beat Ryuunsoke who is easily without a doubt the biggest tomboy here.
