Well I just look at the trailer? (http://www.ytv.co.jp/kekkaishi/) here. It looks pretty neat and the music isn't half bad.
I don't really know reborn main webpage, but the trailer is on youtube, and though Reborn is cute sounding.. tsuna sounds too much like a girl. Although the ending song will be by one of the guys from w-ind, er...forgot.
Thoughts? I'm amused.. though the animation for this can be better.
It also makes me wonder why some things get an anime and some things don't. I never read Full Swing but I assume it's a lot longer running than Reborn, Kekkashi and Buso Renkin.. but never got an anime. Too much baseball anime maybe? Who knows.
P.S I did a search, and didn't really find anything, so sorry if it is redundant.
It looks interesting heh. The concept is unique in that the hitman is a baby, which should provide all sorts of comedy hijinks.
I've read a bit of the manga and have a friend who loves this series so I've been interested in it for some time. It doesn't look like anything that's ground breaking but it does look like a fun series to me so I'm going to give it a go. (I also need to start hunting down the first English manga volume for it since I believe it comes out soon if it hasn't already.)
And I'm sure if you wait long enough almost every Shounen Jump series will be made into an anime with the way things are going. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Kekkaishi looks good. It's one of my favorite manga series right now so I'm looking forward to seeing the anime version. The trailer looks like they stay pretty faithful to the core story and key events of the series.

Mr. Full swing was never anything like as popular as Kekkaishi and Reborn.
Busou Renkin was less popular in polls, but sold better in trades...but everyone was still quite surprised to see it animated.

I watch almost everything, of course I'll be watching both (I know nothing really about either of them, Jump shows aren't usually my thing, but I'll give them both a go anyway) /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Definitely going to give Kekkaishi a try. I'm following the manga and enjoy it a great deal. Nothing special in the beginning, but gets constantly better till levels of greatness are reached. And somehow the characterization of the male lead and his motives clicks really well with me. Here's hoping for an entertaining manga-to-anime transition.
As for Reborn, haven't seen or read anything about it. Will try it for a few episodes out of curiosity reasons.

That's probably Kekkashi since I'm pretty sure Reborn begins airing tomorrow.

Finally managed to get hold of the third episode of Kekkaishi (no signs of the first two anywhere.)
Looks to me like they put their A staff on this; very well animated.

The first 2 episodes might be considered a special. I had a chance to see the "special", thinking it would be behind the scenes stuff, seiyuu interviews and what not, but it was actually the first 2 eps back to back. I enjoyed it as I suspected I would. I've been meaning to pick up the manga sometime considering the strong following it has in the manga forum. My local Borders never has the first vol. /images/graemlins/sad.gif

the first 2 episodes looked ok to me, and though i understood next to nothing that was spoken i know the jist of it from reading the manga.
One thing that was slightly out for me was tokine's grandma the minute she spoke i laughed myself silly. To hear the voice of luffy's seiyuu coming out of that lil' old lady was hilarious. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
i'm sure i'll get used to it though...probably.
just wish it was translated. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

Well then, I'm 3 episodes in now and very pleased so far. The animation holds up and from the ep4 preview it seems it'll stay that way next time as well. Ep3 now also has the official opening animation and even though I'm not all that crazy about the song, they complement each other well, so thumbs up.
I'm a bit saddened, that there's next to no buzz around this one, since in my own estimation, it's one of the better offerings this season. From the manga I know that the story will develop nicely, the characters are fun and the technical aspects are quite good so far. Here's hoping that more people will at least give it a try.

I watched the first four episodes of Kekkaishi the other day, and I was really impressed with the production values. And at least on the episodes I've seen, it's unusually consistent for a series I assume will be longer than a standard season. I'm also really digging the way they've diverged in the ordering of events from the manga, as I think it builds up better tension this way, giving more backstory before getting into some of the lighter fare.
I'm not so hot on the OP theme, but I'm really liking the BGM, so I think whenever an OST for the series gets released, I'm gonna have to pick it up. I can't wait to see if this continues to progress at such a high level.

That's cool. I haven't had the chance to watch Kekkaishi yet, but I love the manga and I'm looking forward to seeing the anime eventually hit R1...

Anyone still following it? Episode 15 aired last monday, covering the manga up to the end of volume 4. I'm having great fun following it, as the manga to anime transition was well done overall. Maybe it's because it's still early in the run, but it has managed a pretty decent level of quality with just an occasional drop every few episodes. I'm liking the anime version a bit more than the manga so far, because the well cast voices really add something to the whole experience (with maybe one exception), as does seeing the nifty kekkai justsu in motion. Overall, I think it's one of the better shounen manga adaptions I've seen for quite some time and look forward to the not yet covered manga material that's still to come.

I'm following it as well. Just finished watching episode 15. I've been wondering what happened to their mother. Maybe they said it already and I just missed it. Is she part of Urakai (sp?) as well??
[edit] If by chance, the answer to that question plays into the overall story and is a spoiler, don't bother.

As of manga volume 15, that question has not been answered.

Yes, I am following the series. Up to Episode 15 too. It's been a nice ride so far. The first few episodes were laying down the setting/background via mostly monster-of-the-week episodes and it's quite methodical and deliberate in the little things they give away for us to pick this all. Episode 11 onwards, it's starting to show more background.
Oh.. how would I love to have a spirit dog like Madarao.

I like how Karasumori's mysterious background gets built upon throughout the story and more questions arise as we go along.

You're not the only one. Madarao and Hakubi both amuse me to no end. Best sidekicks ever. My favourite quote from ep 15 would be Hakubi's: "Well, rather than a big brother, I'd like a big sister. ;)". :D

So I just watched kekkaishi 1 and 2. I'm still working on epi 3 of reborn. I'm so slow...
anyway, I really liked the production values of Kekkaishi, it seemed really nice, and a bit better than reborn I think. The voices are better as well, although I was jarred a bit expecting the little boy voice coming out of the 14 year old.
