for anyone interested, I watched this show the other night and it had enough interesting charms to get me to at least wait for ep-2. Charms like the character designs being attractive and the series sporting quite a few ecchi-level fanservice.

The premise is kinda like I, My, Me Strawberry Eggs, with a more generic twist to it. Since I'm not much of a fan of the Strawberry Eggs premise, I'm still a little guarded on this Koishiteru-series. It's like they're really targeting the yuri-crowd with it. Silly japanese, I say. /images/graemlins/relief.gif

It's a game by Hobibox, and if you've seen the stuff that J-list brings over from them, you'd know that they're more known for making straight porn games than ones that have a story. I'm kind of surprised they actually went the regular anime route instead of making a hentai really.

Even though she's been my favorite singer/voice actress for years now, I've never heard that name before. I know her real name is å*€æ±Ÿç”±å*� (Horie Yoshiko), but I believe she's used 由衣 (Yui) since she started voice acting (I know it says å*€æ±Ÿç”±è¡£ (Horie Yui) as her name on Voice Fantasia for the Sega Saturn, which I believe was her first voice acting role).

Looking at the cast page on that page you linked to, I also see "å*€æ±Ÿç”±è¡£" (Horie Yui), though you mentioned you're seeing this "Yocoromo" name, so I'm wondering if that's not the result of a translation program being weird. What do you use to translate the webpages? I know Babelfish will translate her name to "Reason Robe"....

Yeah, you're right. My translation plugin [Atlas] is creating the weirdness. It also translates å*€æ±Ÿç”±è¡£ on other pages (http://www.pixnet.net/thumbnails.php?album=391469) as Yocoromo Horie. I don't know enough kanji to understand how it comes up with that, but the syllable count for the two names wouldn't seem to match. Who knows? /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif

One reading of the kanji ç”± is "yo", and one reading of the kanji è¡£ is "koromo". I think it is probably the translation program being weird and misreading "Yui".

Yeah, I liked the third episode. The "challenge" from here to the end seems to be in gaining acceptance from the other girls as the house of cards eventually crumbles. (In other words, will the other girls accept him the way Shion did when they find out?) We'll see what happens.

In other news, I was a bit surprised to see that this show seems to be getting the D.C.S.S. R2 DVD release pattern. The first DVD (http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000IOM556/) contains the first 4 episodes for 9240 Yen; since the show's only 12 episodes long, I guess that means only 3 DVDs for the show. Kind of rare when almost all the other 12-13 episode shows are 6/7 discs in R2.

Yes. I was a little doubtful about that - by the way, I have no idea if it's her specifically, I recognised the voice but only in an 'I know that voice' manner - because although the acting is fine, you can tell it's a she. The characters are too old for a girl's voice to work as a boy - but if they used a guy's voice it would probably be hard to get one that could come off enough like a girl /images/graemlins/happy.gif Bit of a dilemma there.

Not that Yui Horie isn't wonderful, she is. (I say that without being able to recognise her voice, as noted, but that's true of all voice actors. /images/graemlins/happy.gif)

Skywise got me to watch this and I don't think it's creepy at all for the reason he quoted (that 'she' is hot). The only bits that did seem a little creepy are the blatant otaku-fanservice parts (particularly the scene in ep 2 where they're playing with 'her' fake breasts).

Overall it's kind of fun, the characters are cute, and I guess it is good language practice to watch raw (even though I keep having to pause and rewind to check words in my dictionary*), so I'll probably watch future episodes.

It does sort of seem likely to head in a Strawberry Panicky shallowness tangent, though (but probably with less drama along the way). I liked that series too (probably more than this one, at a guess) but I kind of wish people would make anime shows in order to tell quality stories about interesting characters, rather than in order to satisfy a specific fetish/desire on behalf of fans. And that those quality stories would also feature cross-dressing characters in all-girl schools. :&gt; (Whoops! Here comes Phoenix Wright! CONTRADICTION!)

Who can say? Since it probably depends on how people feel about the term Uguuu in the lovely girl who made it famous. Along side how they feel about err well traps, cross dressers or whatever term you want to use.

Up to Ep. 5 and loving what I'm seeing. Yes, it's heavily cliched, but it works for some strange reason. Unlike other yuri shows this year, this one doesn't pile on the melodrama and keeps things light and fun.

Ah so I finally have seen Ichiko in action. She's like a divine spirit of awesomeness. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif In other words I just finished 4-5. The series definitely benefits from her presence. It also helps that she's extremely cute too.

Well, that was a nice ending :)

Overall I thought the show was decent, obviously in a guilty pleasure sort of way. At least it settled for excessive cuteness rather than having all the characters all over each other all the time (yes, I'm still comparing it to Strawberry Panic). :) And it was actually a lot less harem-y than it might have been, partly because he was rather passive about it. I still wanted it to be Shion rather than Takako, but I didn't care enough about the show for that to seriously bother me. :)

I just finished both episodes recently myself. All I can say is Takako is really starting to grow on me. In fact she's a good contender for the best of the girls in my view. Not to say I hate the other girls as I do like them, but something about Takako...

I finally saw the last eps to this series and I'm actually glad that Mizuho ended up with Takako since I really liked her throughout the series. Ah yes, the tsundere type wins. I am wondering about what the 13th episode is going to be about. If I'm not mistaken, ep 13 will be included on Vol. 4 of the R2 release

To add to this, I just got my Amazon JP order in today which included Kanon Vol. 1 and Otome wa Boku Vol. 1. Otoboku Vol. 1 is pretty nice with the goodies included.

Just got my order from Amazon Japan today of Kanon and Otoboku Vol. 4. Otoboku Vol. 4 includes the extra Episode 13 titled, "Tsunderella". Just watched it this morning and it was quite random, but hilarious.
