View Full Version : The ultimate ending to a harem anime.

I was thinking, and perhaps there is one way I would watch another seemingly standard harem anime. It has your usual set up of 8 big-breasted, teenaged girls and one undeveloped loli chasing around the same boy. The boy of course is constantly running away, deathly afraid of them. Add in your standard hokey, magical b-plot or whatever and continue this girl on boy sexual harassment for 26 to 54 episodes. Everyone will continue watching of course becuase there's some slim possibility he might "choose" one of the girls. Finally the highly anticipated last episode of the show is aired, and the main boy suddenly declares, "Sorry girls, I'm gay." And that is the end of it. Roll the credits.

What do you think?

Also you could perhaps add this ending to any harem anime that is yet to have a "conclusion," which is probalby all of them.

hehe in theory that would be great but in practice I can't even begin to imagine how many items I would throw across the room if I saw it.

hahaha, are u serious? that would be friggin hilarious!

definitely new but, not sure a creator would do that. once the H-core otaku watch the fansubs and angrily rant on their various blogs and forums, not too sure it will do that well in R1 land. hey, it could work in Japan but, not too sure people want their harem anime ending with a gay guy, that is funny tho /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

I could only come up with an adult euphamism for how much that would suck. It would be like having a chick blow you for 3 hours only to never get to finish. I think I'd kill someone.

That's about as realistic as most harem anime.

Why not just end it as it should? It's a harem anime, so the guy should just realise he's lucky and have a sex orgy involving every girl in the harem. The girls are then well satisfied with his virility and stay with him for life. Wish fulfillment for all male anime otaku completed.

Nah! the ultimate ending for a harem anime already happened, in Tenchi GXP. Seina married all the girls.

I only watched one episode of GXP. I didn't even watch the rest of the disc. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Heh the "I'm gay" ending would mainly just confirm the theories that several have as each harem anime comes up and the guy hesitates to ravage the girls.

The story would end there, because at that point the male lead would suddenly find himself smothered to death as all the girls jump on him at the same time in a desperate attempt to convert him back.

Personally I watch harem shows because often the secondary characters make it all worthwhile. Girls Bravo does come to mind here.

Have to agree with other posters that that would be a pretty funny ending. But it would be more convincing if the male lead were not some wishy washy loser as they inevitably are. If the male lead were a handsome rugged type, one who you would suspect to be able to choose a girl, then the playing against type might work even better.

And yeah, like others have said, I would also be pissed at the show's creators for jerking me around for 26 episodes, only to end like that. But at least it would be an original ending.

Heh. I like cute girls; the more the merrier, and I like comedy. Harem anime is great fun the first few times, but (at least in practice) its a very narrowly defined subgenre and its limitations start to show pretty quickly. I mean, why is the hero almost always a milquetoast? What's wrong with these girls that they all swarm around him? Etc. etc.

Which anyway, Otaru is most likely to eventually end up with Lorelei the way things are developing.

I think that at least some times, it's not so much that the girls WANT to be around him, but are more or less there for other reasons, be it at an all girls school, an all-girls dorm, a remote all-girl planet, an all-girl spaceship crew, all goddess shrine, etc.

There are times where the only reason the girls are around are that they are pursuing the guy, and they don't actually live with him.

Then, there is the story where all the girls have the misfortune of being around the guy, and none of them want to be anywhere around him... Well, almost none of them.

While there are a lot of anime that would qualify as harem, to some extent, there is actually quite a bit of variety in both the situations, and the characters.

Examples:

Ranma
Urusei Yatsura
Ah! Megamisama
Anything by Ken Akamatsu
