Xbox 360 - Games Discussion

***I have to say I'm not sure whether to post this in OT or in the gaming thread. I know there's talk of splitting the current games thread into RPG and there has been some discussion about what type of posts people feel belong where but I guess this can be moved into the general thread if needs be***

Now, with that out of the way, onto the main post.
Basically, although the PS3 and Wii are mere days away now, the Xbox 360 is the next-gen console that most people will own as it has been available for a year or so.
So, as a way of marking its first anniversary and also to help out anyone who ends up without a Wii and/or PS3 and needs some quality 360 gameage, I thought this would be an interesting post.
Basically, what 360 games do you own, what would you recommend and what are you looking forward to?

I used to own quite a few games, but now I am down to three:

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Gears of War
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter

If you couldn't tell, I could easily recommend all three. I'm just loving the hell out of Gears...it just feels so damn polished, I don't mind dying a few times here and there. /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif

As for what to look forward to, I don't really pay attention to the release schedule...I'd say Lost Planet is the next one on the lookout.

I own only Ridge Racer 6, Dead Rising, and Dead or Alive 4, but I recommend all of those... then again, you already have those.

A lot of 360 games are simply ones that I bought on the PC so including those, I'd recommend FEAR (awesome, even if you don't like FPSes), Oblivion, and Call of Duty 2 in that order. I'm looking forward to getting Gears of War, DOAX 2, Lost Planet, and the various RPGs that were announced. Stuff like Bioshock and Assassin's Creed look unbelievably cool as well, but those are again games I'll get on the PC.

I don't have DoA 4 yet /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif But yeah not sure if it's what you meant but it's not recommendations for me personally I'm looking for. Just being nosey as to what others own and are looking forward to really /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Shutokou Battle X
Bullet Witch
Senko no Ronde Rev X
Dead Rising
Ridge Racer 6
Saints Row
Tenchu: Shinobi Taisen

Gears of War should be with me in the next couple of days too.
I plan on ordering a load of cheap Asia version stuff from Playasia (DoA 4, Test Drive Unlimited, PGR 3, N3 etc) in the next couple of days.

If it makes you feel any better, my brother went down to EBGames to pick up his Gears preorder (along with ALOT of other people), and the Fed Ex driver dropped off every copy of the game at the local Best Buy by mistake. Afterwards, Best Buy refused to give them back. Every EB customer asked for a refund and went to Best Buy instead, except for my brother who is friends with the EB manager. According to his friend their store lost upwards of 30 thousand dollars because of it.

My Gears of War was one of the ones that was held up by Fed-Ex, so I'm going to get it after work. Tomorrow's a holiday so I get to play all day. I was dissapointed, I was going to get COD3, but That'll wait till all my extra bills are paid.

Recently I have been playing Splinter Cell:DA, while the single player isn't the "good old" SC experience, the multiplayer is great. While it removed the objectives of splinter cell it is pretty neat, Though hopefully they'll add more game modes later on, but ubi seems to have their hands full and are slow with those kinds of things.

Can't wait for gears of war, I downloaded a bunch of multiplayer HD vids on TXB and loaded them up on the 360, damn I love that new feature, though I just wish they open up one or two formats.

My upcoming game interests after Gears is first and Foremost Lost Planet, it's just so damn good looking and has those lovely Capcom Cutscenes. I'm glad Capcom is going multiplatform after they release their exclusives. I hope the publish some of their best of remakes or re-releases on the next gen consoles.

That's actually serious mail fraud, not to mention they made money off the wrongful receipt. Unless they have a totally dumb employee(s) to drop the responsibility on, EB games can make a ton of money suing Best buy.

Yeah Lost Planet will be amazing. I know there's a Japanese 360 pack with the game included being released in December but I kinda wish they'd release a SE of the game, if only for the OST. I leave the official site open and just have the "Lost Planet Theme" playing on loop a lot of the time just because it's so damn good.

As for Capcom on the 360, if, as is likely, LP gets the same sort of sales as Dead Rising then it may give Capcom incentive to do more 360-exclusive stuff. That's really my main concern this gen - I know most games will be different on the Wii, but I want the big hitters like Capcom, Namco, Sega etc etc doing 360 and PS3 exclusives and not just releasing everything on both. Sure, it would cost me more money buying more games, but would definitely be worth it for more quality games.

I only really got interested in getting a 360 the last few months or so. Especially since I can get a Premium 360 and a few games for the same as the low end PS3.

And I really want Dead Rising.

My current favorite X360 game, at least until my X360 suffered a meltdown last week, is "Splintercell - Double Agent". Once I get my X360 fixed I'll probably pick up "Call of Duty 3" and "Gears of War" too. I'd rather have CoD3 on the PC but it doesn't sound like they're going to make a PC version any time soon.

So did I as it happens. I got mine at the start of September. Senko no Ronde, Dead Rising and Saints Row appearing at around the same time was the straw that broke the camels back in my case.

It's been rumoured but I can't see it leaving the PS3. Maybe a couple of years down the line but I would imagine Sony have got it tied up as an exclusive for the foreseeable future.

I just can't see such an iconic PS game/hero going multi format. Yes, it's happened a lot over the past couple of years but Resi 5 has been confirmed as multi-format so why not DMC 4 yet?
Like I said, if it does make the jump it'll be a while yet.

But in the end software companies are not rivaling one another. No matter which console loses they all win, they are in the middle of this fight for games and they could care less. I see it as a high possibility given their stance on multiplatform and success and their results with the current gen.

I own:

-Dead Rising (coown with a friend)
-Bomberman: Act Zero

Bomberman is fun; plays just like all the old bomberman games. Sure, the cute factor is gone, but that doesn't hurt it. What does hurt it, however, is the need for multiple 360s to play multiplayer. There's no reason for that.

Games I plan to get eventually:

Condemmed: Criminal Origins
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Also looking forward to:

-Resident Evil 5 (Though not as much, after 4...)
-Viva Pinata (After having no idea about the game based on the trailers, I read about it on IGN and it seems very promising.)

A few titles I consider under the radar are.

<font color="green">Test Drive® Unlimited</font> - A rare racing title that very good in the single player mode. Add to the fact you can drive everywhere from the get go and it was sold for $39.99 to start. Its only behind PGR3 and Need For Speed: Most Wanted in my book.

<font color="green">Blazing Angels™: Squadrons of WWII</font> - I'm partial to aerial combat games and Crimson Skies is one of may faves. So this game was right up my alley with various missions and squad base gameplay. Add to it some of the funniest German and Japanese voice overs and you got a great little gem.

Anyone tried this besides me? Just last night, 3 Xbox 360 and 3 TVs. It was awesome!! 3 vs 3 was great, too bad they don't have free for all.

With it being the holiday season, and the flood of extra gaming posts from 2 new consoles coming out, I'm probably going to leave 1 thread per system open through X-mas. (Other mods may choose to veto this, it's on our table for discussion.) We're also discussing how to handle a permanent (for the UBB forums) expansion of the gaming thread also.
