What a piece of crap.
Not a surprise for the Superman legacy of video games. My fear started the minute I saw the EA logo. Then I saw it clearly labeled as "The Videogame." Ugh. Controls aren't too bad but awkward. figuring out what to do when and were is pointless. It's like it's designed to be bad.
It's a real shame after coming away from playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance. If I were EA, I'd be ashamed to release this demo. But EA knows no shame.

I'm fairly confident that this is the most negative thing you've ever written... and for some reason, I was rolling on the floor laughing over it.

Well, the difference between Marvel Ultimate Alliance and this is Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a standalone game. Thus, it has MUCH higher chances of being good. Superman Returns is based off of the movie. In my experience, most based off of movie games are crap.

It can be played without that. I'm not even talking storywise. Just in playability, it completely blows.

Heh. I hate EA. They are the epitome of what's wrong with videogames as a business. Some really needs to make "EA: The Videogame" so I can go on a rampage in their office and lob off some body parts.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. They push it out to get sales from the people who liked the movie and the gameplay usually isn't so hot for one reason or another.

The last time I was in EB, they had Nacho Libre the video game. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif
Yeah, licensed games based on movies have a long history of being crap. Hell, I remember Superman on the Atari 2600. It was one of the worst 2600 games, down there with E.T. (probably the most famous crappy game based on a movie).
There might be a few exceptions. I kept hearing that the Riddick game for the Xbox was actually better than the Riddick movie (not that hard, I guess).

It's kind of annoying that even if someone has a legitimate complaint about EA, it's dismissed as mindless bashing... EA is, moreso than any company, completely devoid of talent.

I've known quite a few people who've gone to work for EA and have left EA. To put it simply, EA work's ethics are near slave-driven and they tend to usually be in "crunch time" for a good portion of a project. Usually once a deadline is set, they work till they literally drop. If it is a franchise, I think they just try to get the minimum effort into the project just to get it out. When it comes to their sports games, they usually have previous years to rely on building on top of another project (which is why Madden is still playable).
If it was not for Madden, and Will Wright's games (the Sims and everything else he developed before EA took over Maxis), EA would not be the same company today.

What a shame that they still can't make a decent Superman game. I thought Justice League Heroes was kind of fun (although not as good as X-Men Legends or Marvel Ultimate Alliance) but that wasn't EA (and they did just kinda take the XML and MUA fighting system).
There have been a lot of really fun comic based games lately and it's such a shame that no true Superman game is on that list.

So does it achieve the same level of legendary suckiness as "Superman 64?"

I'll assume it doesn't but I should go download it to make sure.

Yup it was but then it was more based off Riddick the character then the actual movie. It was set way before even Pitch Black and was set in the prison where Riddick got to be the way his is with this eyes and all.

Yeah, the only thing EA really has going for it is army of two. The comic book games should stay with companies that can do a regular game right (see: Not EA)
It was fun to fly and hover like I saw in the movie, but other than that it was a mess. Plus not being able to go underwater, blah. Fighting was a mess, "rescuing" useless people was a mess since a new threat popped up before you got to finish. And some of the flight controls werea mess. Pretty much what I was expecting.
EA + Shame: Does not compute. They frigging charged for CODES for a game...CODE!!?!
