What names of anime characters do you like? Is there a particular name of a character in a show that you remember more or it stands out more than the other name in the show?

Some of the names that get stuck in my head include Yayoi, Sokimoto, Fujiko, Ashram, and Sakaki, to name a few.

Miyuki Kobayakawa
Natsumi Tsujimoto
Sousuke Sagara
Usagi Tsukino
Saeko Nogami
Madoka Ayukawa
Hikaru Hiyama
Kyosuke Kasuga
Char Aznable
Anthy Himemiya
Kyoko Otonashi
Rei Ayanami

It's not from an anime, but the main characters of the manga Menkui have really cool names, Kotori and Akaiwa.

"Akaiwa" has stuck with me, and if I were to register for any site now, that's usually what I would use.

Speaking of FLCL, I always thought that Mamimi was a fun name /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

For some reason I took a liking to Shinohara. This was largely due to Miho Shinohara from Fancy Lala, but it also carried over to Wakaba Shinohara from Utena.

Jiyu Nanohana (Jubei-chan) is another fun name. I also like Mayuko, but this is primarily due to Mayuko Chigasaki from NieA_7 being just about my alltime favorite character in all the anime I've seen.

I also like the names of all of the Haibane from Haibane Renmei: Rakka, Reki, Nemu, Hikari, and Kuu.

My cat's name is Luna. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif As in, you guessed it, the one from Sailor Moon. My Luna's a tuxedo though, not all-black.

"Freddie", "Gorilla" and "Hokuto's Lackey" all from Cromartie High School.

Akito- because not only is it from Nadesico and Kodacha, spelled backwards it spells a famous swordsman.

I named my cat Mikoto. I also will be giving my daughter, if any, a japanese name. I'm thinking Sakura, Rei or Yuna

Kana!

That charmingly boisterous Chinese tomboy from Haibane Renmei, of course.

I like the name because it has a nice aesthetic and because it leads to some fun puns (such as katakana, etc.).

And as President and Charter Member of the Kana Fanboi Association (KFA), who else could I possibly name? ^/images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif^

I usually like a name when it's associated with a character I've come to like. The one that stands out for me is:

IchigoÂ*Morino from Please Teacher/Twins

She pops into my head every time I have a strawberry shortcake, and I get this weird compulsion to snicker.

For some reason I really love the name Nagisa, even though the only Nagisa I know of (from Iczer 1) doesn't do much for me.

Nagisa! *shiver!*

I've really only liked one name in all my years of anime watching. When I say like, I mean a name that I wouldn't mind being called myself.

Treize Khushrenada - Great character, with a name to match. A little hard to spell, but something about it has always made me like it.

I am quite fond of the name "Lacita Toelle Ur <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>Laputa</span>"; mostly for the way it is revealed /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Yukino Miyazawa (His and Her Circumstances) stands out for me for some reason. Don't know why, but Arima's "Ms. Miyazawa!" just sticks in my head.

I have a couple...

Aya and Maya
Ayu and Mayu

Talyn

Rei Ayanami
Ayato Kamina

are the two that I always remember no matter what. If we weren't naming our cats for the cast of George R.R. Martins series of books "A Song of ice & fire" (sorry for the splug) I'd easily change the two cats names to the names above... lol

Right now, when it comes to anime names that I like, the two names that seems to pop up a lot in my head unconsciously are Chiyo and Nodoka.

EDIT: Another name that I seem to say unconsciously recently: Mika.

I like it how it's always his whole name, it sounds uber neat. Same for Quatre Rebara Winner. Damn I used to know how to spell it. :nervous:

Fakir - Heh, saying this one in my mind is always fun for some reason
Sawanoguchi Sae - Of course these are my favorite character, but I like their names too. MUC character names have the alliteration going which is neat.

I have a 12 year old Maine Coon named Neko (with a long E sound), and a 4 year named Yuki, who is pure white.

When I first met my wife (ex-wife) she was confused about a quote that contained a name (Miranda) in a signature of mine, and it led us to like the name for a daughter. While I have long abandoned that name, I have a fondness of names that start with a "M", and feel that it should be suitable for shortening to avoid kids picking on the girl in school. I've taken a liking to the name Madoka, and would probably name a daughter that, if given the chance.

Ah! The "Great Miyazawa". I sometimes call my cat "Yukino" after Yukino Miyazawa, although it's not her specifically her name. Names with "yuki" as their base are interesting to me, like Miyuki, Oyuki, Yukino, Yuki, etc.

I also like names that would sounds like names that the '60s hippies gave their children, like Maho, Ichigo, Rei... I'm drawing a blank for more examples at the moment. They just sound nice in Japanese, and while have a fairly straight forward meaning, are not really obvious to people that don't understand Japanese.

Of course, while many of the names I like are gender neutral, my bias is towards using the cuter ones as girls names, and like them because they they were given to some pretty interesting anime girls.

The first name that comes to mind is:

Shot Weapon - from Aura Battler Dunbine

Dunbine has a bunch of crazy names that's for sure.

On a more serious note, I also like:

Sylia Stingray - it just flows so well
Ciela Lapana - also of Dunbine
Youko Nakajima - it sounds so... ordered
Plakia Lexshue
Katsumi Liqueur
Milia Falyna Jenius
Spike Spiegel

These aren't representative of anime as a whole, but I like:

Blood War (pronounced "Bulutto Wor!"
Madness Bunji (pronounced "Madonessu Boonji.")
Big Daddy (pronounced "Biggu Datty!" Often yelled.)
Bob Poundmax (pronounced "Bobbu POUND-o-mackusu.")

Err... slightly more typical names though:

Jin -- it just sounds cool
Gatsu -- also sounds cool
Arucard/Alucard -- the coolest sounding of all.

Yeah heh. I've always liked him as a character because of the respect he commands. A great leader, has a decent head on his shoulders and so on. If I had to pick someone else, I've always liked Kaname Chidori's name. Something about it rolls off the tounge.

They all have great names. Very Star Wars-ish: vaguely familiar but also alien sounding.

Watching Kanon makes me want to name a cat Nikuman ( ) or Piro :nervous:

At one point a few years ago I think I would have named my next child Dita, Jura or Meia. Right now I'm liking the name Motoko; something about the way it sounds I guess.

I know if I ever get a hamster she'll be a Kurumi, and a cat will either be Tama, or Tamami.

As for names for people, Kuriko Kazetsubaki has a nice feel to it, as does Nodoka Miyazaki

Ditto. In those games you play where you come up with names for your future children, Amelia has always been one of my planned names. If I ever have daughters, the oldest will be named Colleen, the middle Amelia. Though I had selected Amelia as a name long before I heard of Amelia wil Tesla Saillune. ;) Granted, if I get my wish and have my little Amelia, she'll be doomed to wear pink and white costumes for Halloween and I'll probably teach her mini Justice speeches just to terrify everyone. :neko:

Another name that I absolutely love is Higurashi Kagome's from Inuyasha. I love the way her name is said in Japanese and the rhyme associated with her name is also all sorts of love:

Kagome, Kagome
When does the bird inside the cage come out?
At dawn and at evening.
Who is in front of the back,
When a crane and a turtle slipped and fell?

And yes, Kagome is also a name I've considered for any future daughter. It might be from anime, but I just find that it's really pretty.
