This topic will contain SPOILERS for the entirety of the My~ZHiME TV Series and the first OVA.
The first episode of hte new Zwei OVA was released yesterday, and I just got a chance to watch it.
Taking place 1 year after the events of My~ZHiME TV, it starts with Arika and a number of other Meister's taking out a large asteroid that is threatening Earth. During this however, a mysterious "thing" falls to Earth.
Anyway, this episode was great. On the same level of awesome as the last few episodes of the TV series.
I hope they keep up this level.

I really missed this show.
The animation was kind of disappointing spotty for an OAV - it kind of fluctuated between being both better and worse than the TV series. The fact that there didn't seem to be any new music was kind of disappoiting as well. The most disappointing thing, however, is that the next episode isn't out for another three months!
On the positive side, everything else was great. I'm glad Irina actually got some screen time given how underused she was in ZHiME. I also like the fact that they made sure we understood that the villian this time is actually rather powerful by taking out three of the most powerful characters (though this does mean we won't be seeing much MIYU).
Hopefully they won't fall over themselves too much trying to cram in too many character reappearances and the like. Whilst I kind of hope we do see Midori, I hope the last episode doesn't do the ZHiME TV route of having another character turning up JUST IN TIME to save the day.
Oh, and Arika's chest seems to have undergone rather rapid expansion. The fanservicey chest wiggling seems rather out of place given her mannerisms and attitude /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif

Well, Arika is a growing girl and the OAV happens a year or two after the series, so it was bounced to happen. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I can't say I'm wowed by the first episode, but it does work in terms of introducing the story. Still I hope the OVA won't end up as nothing more than a "It's your turn to be owned" fest. Because well that would be rather boring. Although I can understand not wanting an easy enemy.
Still it's nice that the characters are older. Do I need to say why? Also I kind of like seeing Arika pull an Alyssa (again). Ah so Arika will have a base and super form it seems. Although the mixed outfit is still kind of strange, but then we did get lot of episodes of the pink only version.

Arika always looks best in the full blue outfit with her hair down... the pink or pink blue look sucks.
so we'll see more Nina and Sergey next year I guess... wonder how far they went :0
Alot of the more powerful Otomes are now out of the picture so hopefully it'll be more interesting.
Too bad those statues wont shatter into hundreds of pieces...

4 IIRC. Unfortunately we are getting them at three month intervals, though, so there's a looooooong wait for the next one.

It took about 10 minutes to sink in but I've finally realized: I'm watching original new content connected to my #4 all time favorite show. Holy shit this is awesome!. And holy shit to Arika too. That year was good to her <3 Sexy sexy Arika!
Now to go back to watching more...
Irina getting more screentime! ShizNat bathing suits! Mashiro being more mature! Mai, the Tragic Otome! Natsuki (Load Chrome Cartridge~)! Arika in awesome Sapphire mode (and jiggling =D it's totally not out of character -- it just means her anatomy is as bouncy as her personality!) Fights! Materialized Miss Maria! Surrogate Shinso! OPPAI BOIN DE TSUN, AHH~AANNNN~~!
Awesome episode. And we have an enemy that took out Miyu, Shizuru and Miss Maria like it was nothing. Definitely going to be fun to see where this goes. And I wonder what Nina is going to do? There's no way she's sitting this OVA out.
Unlike Digikerot, I thought the animation was quite good. Never struck me as off at all. I also had forgotten, or just didn't know, that Zwei was more than a one shot. So, 4 eps? Well, a year to watch 4 eps sucks, but still, this was awesome.
Three months for next episode though... Gah, this is why I HATE OVAS! But it's Otome, so I have to make an exception.

I have to admit I was chuckling throughout. And happily, two old favorites made their dramatic (re) -appearances--i.e., Tomoe & Nina. I know who I'm voting for! The vociferous fans of Haruka will no doubt be sniveling over her petrifaction.
Personally, I'm really disappointed with the emasculation (so-to-speak) of Arika. Hopefully, this won't last too long.
This iteration appears to be much more spoofilicious than the prior two. We'll have to wait and see if it continues to be so.

The whole terrorist sub-plot which took up most of the episode.

While I agree that this installment felt rather slow, I really enjoyed it. Haruka really had a chance to shine here and I loved Chie and her Delta Otome.
And Nao, <3 Even if she was only in it for the last few moments, it was more than enough to make me happy, :D
I just wonder how everything is going to get wrapped up in only two more episodes. There seems to be a lot of story left to tell.

Oh, three months is far too long to wait between episodes of this show, not to mention that the next episode is the last :cry:
Anyway, the keyword this time is probably boobs - or maybe that should be nipples? Yup, Sunrise take full advantage of being an OAV to produce something that Piano would probably approve of.
Well, for the first eight minutes anyway. I do have to feel sorry for poor Kazu-kun - not only are his attempts to make out with Akane constantly blocked, but he also suffers severe bloodloss, a pounding from his beloved and the most restrictive pair of undies I've seen in quite some time.
Much of the rest of the episode was Nao and Nina investigating the ruins of Fuuka Academy, making the service of the opening feel a little out-of-place. In any case, we all know how awesome Nao is, so it's all good stuff (also - Nao Materialise scene!). The Fumi-thing seems to be growing herself a kagutsuchi too...

This is the main reason I refuse to watch any more of this until the final episode has been well released. That way I can watch it as a whole instead of being bothered by the gaps between the episodes.

I can't read it, but I'll tell what I've heard.
That is My-HiME Destiny, a direct sequel (or not) of My-Hime. As far as I know, it's only a series of light novels or manga, but I've been hearing rumors of an anime series as well. That's all I can really "confirm".

Well, as far as "official" pictures of her go, that's the best I've seen. Probably should've said "most badass" rather than best....oh well. The only way you could top it is if you had the same picture, but with her holding Natsuki (who for some reason has had her clothes ripped to shreds) in her other arm.

You'll have to fight Yukino for her! Yukino's been taking lessons from Shizuru on how to get her woman. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Come to think of it I actually neglected to click on that link.
Let's see here we got Aoi, Yukino, Chie, Shizuru, Haruka, and wow Shiho. Well Shiho's certainly evidence of the girl's being older. Either way now I feel ashamed for not clicking the link earlier.

While it may not be in Octopus form the hair does indeed give her away. Granted if that was an animated gif and the hair was actually moving it would be easier to tell.

If you go by AoD Logic, the most obvious answer would be that if they were not cuffed, she would not be able to restrain herself from groping/molesting the other girls. That said, the series would end up being about her yuri sexing with a different girl each episode......the final boss being Shizuru of course. :sd: :virgin:
My fantasies aside, I wish there was some concrete evidence whether or not this is going to be animated or whatever. Although with Sunrise, it more than likely will be. Maybe there'll be news around the time when Xenoglossia ends.

I think it's more likely we'll hear something in conjunction with the end of ZHiME Zwei than the end of Xenoglossia - most of the actual HiME production staff aren't actually working on the later.
That said, whilst I'm sure we'll get another My-verse series, I'm not hedging my bets on exactly what we'll get at this point. I mean, there's another ZHiME-related manga running at the moment, isn't there? It seems just as likely that we'd get something based on that, or even something completely new altogether.

It is in fact LESS likely we'll get a manga adaption because the *HiME series have NEVER been adapted from manga. EVER.

I'm surprised its taken this long for the 'news' of My-HiME Destiny to pop up here. Anyway, according to rumors (http://anime.miao.us/archives/2007/05/16/1067/) it will be based on the novels.
Since its part of the HiME franchise, I'll watch it, but my expectations are low at this point. I'll be watching it for very superficial reasons (more the same characters and *hopefully* more ShizNat because I hear the novels kind of reduced that aspect) until it gives me reason to expect a decent story. "Destiny" brings back bad memories, Mai Otome was (IMO) better if I didn't think about it too much, and the rumors aren't giving me reasons to expect much. I would love for them to prove me wrong.
I wasn't a huge Otome fan, but I loved Hime like the rest of us. If we could get a direct sequel as it looks like Destiny is, then I'd be really happy. No more "alternate universe" BS, bring us back to the original show. I guess I really want to see how the characters have grown(Shizuru, Haruka, and so on) and whats gone on since the end of Hime.

Even though we know how it turns out, I'd like to see a prequel that shows Mashiro's story. I'm kind of apprehensive on any direct sequel to My-HiME, since they all lost their powers with the destruction of the HiME star. Or appeared to at least. Maybe the HiME star wasn't truly destroyed or something. In any case, I hope they find a good way to explain their powers coming back (or gaining new/different powers). I just worry that they'll come up with a really stupid explanation for it or that whatever new threat they come up with will be dumb and contrived.

Part of me is still convinced that Otome takes place in the future of HiME or at least is akin to an alternate future anyway. Granted that's something that people consider debatable, but that's another issue.

I've always suspected that, and the OVAs keep tossing more hints. Like the shape of the key that Nao used in this episode. I'm pretty sure it's just like the one Midori used to get into Miyu's room. The ruins Nao and Nina were in at times appeared to be the school (yeah, the one that was at the bottom of a lake near the end of the TV series). And so on. I keep wondering if they'll finally make a connection, but with only 1 OVA episode left... it can still be done, but it looks like it will probably remain just a bunch of little hints and teases.

Which would be teases. Little nudges and winks to their previous actions and personalities would be fine, but sticking the entire school in the bottom of a lake.... there is no reason to do that except to feed the notion that a direct connection exists. That's not "hey you'll get this if you watch HiME" because you STILL don't get why its there in Otome unless they actually connect the two series.

Honestly I think they're going to keep it partially vague just so they can laugh as we debate back and forth about it. With one side saying "They're connected" and the other side "It's just random references". In short they're being evil.

Regardless I'm already convinced enough by what I've seen. Plus I rather like the idea that Arika is a descendant of Alyssa Searrs. It's just totally awesome for me.

Actually, doing a bit of background reading, it looks like Destiny is another AU series. I mean, come to think of it, the fact that the uniforms are completely different and the fact that Shizuru and Haruka are even at the school given they'd graduated should have been a give-a-way. Apparently Midori actually is 17 this time around as well.

Since no-one has corrected this yet, I figure I probably should - that isn't Shiho. The Chie look-a-like with the two hairpins standing next to her in some of the images is new character Shion Tennouji. The girl with the twin-tails and the stupidly large breasts is the new heroine Mayo Kagura.

That's Shion rather than Chie there. Damn confusingly similar character designs, at least when the aren't shown from the front.

Since no-one has corrected this yet, I figure I probably should - that isn't Shiho. The Chie look-a-like with the two hairpins standing next to her in some of the images is new character Shion Tennouji. The girl with the twin-tails and the stupidly large breasts is the new heroine Mayo Kagura.
Darn it! I was tricked by the characters designs. :P (Yeah I know I should have gotten more information that just staring at images) Still Mayo does remind me in quite a few ways of Shiho. So having Mayo as the heroine will feel a bit strange. I wonder if that was intentional? Still the real fun comes with Shion the "Chie-impersonator". :sd:

Ah, so its another AU series. That makes me less apprehensive about it. I'm hoping the new main character will be more likeable than Arika was. The handcuff thing is really weird though.
Alls well for me sine they decided to bring Haruka back :> :>

Just wanted to post my belated thoughts on this OAVs series. I thought it was much better than the TV series for the following reasons:
(1)A remorseful Nina is more likable than a tsundere, angsty, Sergay-obsessed Nina.
(2)Arika and Mashiro make a better yuri couple than ShizNat.
(3)It has nipples! And we know that the Hime and Otome TV series would have been better with them.
(4)Better animation.
