This game gave me a special and a very unique playing experience. I almost feel bad for not getting it until Saturday (it's been out for a year?!). Was originally going to rent it, at a friend's recommendation, but I noticed the Greatest Hits logo and went and bought it instead.

I finished it this morning at a little over 16 hours clocked. I really loved discovering strategies for each colossus, and I loved how there's various ways of going at them on your own.

Right now I tried some of the Time Trials (I've done the first six).

The ending was... WOW. I don't know how to explain how I felt watching it.

Yeah, SOTC was a fantastic game. Definitely not something that'll appeal to the masses of ADD-riddled kids out there though since it does require a bit of patience to get anywhere. But for those who get it, it's just... incredible. Few games feel so majestic and well designed. I cannot wait to see what the dev. team is able to do with the PS3.

Same here, Team Ico is my favorite SCEJ team and I really do want to play their next game whenever it comes out. You just know its going to be mind-blowing to say the least.

Now I just have to wait three years to get a PS3 like I did the PS2.

I have patience. ;)

Speaking of Team Ico.

What's the relationship between the game Ico and Shadow of the Colossus?

I heard Shadow is the prequel.
Is Ico worth looking for (evidentally, finding a new copy is rare)?

I'd say it is, although in the UK it got re-released earlier this year when SotC was released, it's not that rare in the UK as far as I'm aware

highlight for spoiler

I think the creator officially announced that shadows was indeed a prequel, but left it open for us to interpet. It was obvious that the first horned child was Wanda. But how did the other children come to be? Did his descendants leave the island (if so who did child Wanda mate with, by the time he was old enough she was just old. Some think that Dormin's spirit branched off as it did before across the globe and eventually lied dormant (hehe, dormin, dormant) and awakened in each horned child over time.

By the way The new spoiler system sucks

Shadow of the Colossus is absolutely fucking incredible. And that's all that needs to be said on the issue.

Seriously, for me it was one of those games where you just know when playing it that it is very, very special and as much an experience as a game.

FWIW I thought it was much better than Ico.

It also had a better soundtrack. I'm playing Ico for the first time (not currently but it's what is in my ps2) and I like it, but it's obviously not as eventful as SoTC. I don't like having to bat at shadows for about ten minutes, but I do find figuring out the puzzles. but then I'm worried about another batch of shadow people screwing with me and ma' lady.

Ive been looking into getting this game after I read the reviews and saw screenshots it totally seems like my type of game. The reason I havent got it though is Ive never played Ico, and just like the reason I havent picked up Shadow Hearts 2, Im worried it will ruin my overall enjoyment of what could be a great game just because my prior knowledge of the previous games is missing. Would this happen or is the cross referencing (in both SOTC and Shadow Hearts 2) minimal to the point it doesnt matter or is it a big deal?

Doesn't really matter I played Shadows before Ico, and if anything you'll be spoiled by shadows, since it's really much more eventful than ico. Ico is fun though, but rather quiet. Shadows is pretty quiet but it's nice going to and fro to your next opponent, but can get rather dull after a while. Also each game, while very stylized, looks at best like shiny poop. The best looking things in Shadows is the Horse and the Collossi. In Ico it's similar. It's still a beautiful game somehow.

Both Ico and SotC are awsome gaming experiences, I played though Ico first at a friends house took me three days of constant playing. Both games almost boarder on spiritual experiences I got so attached to Yorda in Ico while playing.

Colossus is about the same, I felt a hint of sorrow after felling each colossus mixed with the satisfaction of actually felling them. I'd love to get all excited about it here and spoiler bits but I wont, both games really is worth the play through.

The time trials (added after completeing SotC) are a nice bonus, as is hard mode but in some ways take away from the magnificence of it all, it's just not right to fell such a mighty beast so quickly. I've done #7 the lizard one that spits gas in less than 90 seconds.

As for the relation of both games Ico/SotC they kind of work as a loop, the creator says SotC is a prequel to Ico but it also works as a sequel if you read into the images a little. I have my theories :)

I usually refer to SotC as the game that's "all boss battles". Definitely cool but I can't help but hope they make an even cooler version for the PS3.

They look as if they are both part of the same world. Colossus might be a prequel--the ending sort of implies it is, but it's a fairly vague connection. Neither game "spoils" the other in any way. Both games are pretty awesome.

Ico manages to spoil itself through it's own gameplay. And when I say spoil, I mean "completely wreck."

Can you clear up something for us? Is the boy at the end of Shadow of the Colossus supposed to be from the original ICO? And is Shadow of the Colossus a prequel to ICO?
I didn’t intend the boy to be the same as in ICO. Yes, users have thought that Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to ICO, and that’s my idea as well. I wanted to make it so the imagination is up to the user.

Ico is a rare find, do they even sell it new retail ? I got it used and it didn't have a manual, had to find it on the internet.

Yeah, I couldn't find a retailer selling a new copy.
