View Full Version : So What Are You Playing At the Moment?

We have a gaming sub-forum and the news/views/reviews has its own thread, so how about we bring back the original question from many many many iterations ago! So folks, what are you playing?
For me, right now it is Kingdom Hearts II. I started Thanksgiving Day and have already logged over 23 hours (and am apparently about half way through since it is revisit worlds times). I was worried because I'd seen some negative remarks about the game, but I'm absolutely loving it, even while having never played Chain of Memories (read a summary of it on Wikipedia to catch up).
I just broke 100 hours in Final Fantasy XII this morning. I've taken down about 25 Marks so far and, if I ever pull my thumb out, I'm just about ready to finish the game.

I'm taking a little break due to school. I still play Sims 2 on occasions. Can't wait to start FFXII.

Replaying Snaker Eater since I bought Substitance. I never tire of calling Paramedic to get info how "x" food tastes. ^^
Oh, and Pop'n. Got my Pop'n controller and having fun with it! Loud as hell, but great fun!
Final Fantasy XII and Suikoden V. I should've finished Suik a long time ago but lost the desire to play games again for a while. While starting FFXII I had the urge to pick up Suik again for no good reason and now I'm slowly toggling back and forth between the two. Not really playing either very much at the moment though.

Nothing too serious at the moment. I'm waffling around between Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero 2, Trauma Center (DS), Trauma Center (Wii), and Wii Sports. I need to find something to seriously play, preferably an RPG. I'm getting that RPG itch.

Need for Speed: Carbon
And on the PC
Guild Wars: Factions
Star Wars Galaxies
Babylon 5 - I've Found Her
Wing Commander Prophecy
Wing Commander - The Kilrathi Saga
I vary it up every now and then. ;)

Well I'm playing FarCry and Civ IV on the PC. I'm trying to start a marathon run of all the Resident Evil games on the Cube along with finishing Killer7. I'm racing in Grand Turismo 4 and about to finish FFX on the PS2. O, and I'm starting to play Guild Wars again! I haven't played anything on my GBA lately, although last game I played was Sigma Star Saga, which it too needs to be finished.

Digital Devil Saga.
I'm not too found of the cheesy guitar airs, as I don't like corny RPGs, but nonetheless this is a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Definitely one of this generation's absolute best role-playing games. Worth checking out for the fans.
And Cash Guns Chaos on PS3. A modern-day hommage to Smash TV. I really love the trash punk music. One of the funniest games I've played all year. If you have a PS3 you should download the demo. Easy to pick up and play at any time and it's incredibly tense and funny.
Yes it has a rating of 4.7 on Gamerankings, however it's received just one review from GameSpot, and I basically disagree vehemently with everything the reviewer says. :P

Final Fantasy XII -- Logged 31 hours into the game since picking it up on release day... yeah, that's not a lot, but I haven't had a ton of time to spend gaming lately. I planned on having it done by the time that Zelda comes out for the Cube, but it's not looking likely.

At home:
Medieval 2 - Total War: Conquering Europe and the Middle East for fun and profit. As the Pope. Thank you, unlocking mod. :D
Warhammer 40k - Dark Crusade: A bit of MP over the LAN every now and then.
On the go:
Final Fantasy 3 (DS): It's the first DS game I've bought, and it's a traditional RPG to boot.
SRW Original Generation 2 (GBA): I miss my replay data from the Japanese cart. Makes the first game look pathetic. Plus, Alfimi. :)

Daaaaamn. :) I'm at about 28 hours and it doesn't feel like I've done much. ^_^;; But I'm absolutely loving the game.
In addition to Final Fantasy 12, I've been playing Wii Sports, Excite Truck, and Zelda: Twilight Princess on and off... inbetween Final Fantasy, surprisingly. ^^;

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. 34...ish hours in (but uh, I like to waste time wandering around leveling up, so.), 1/4 through Ajna, so nearly finished. Still love it, am going to cry when I finish it sometime next weekend and have to wait until January to play DDS2 D:
Been looking at a bunch of different games, because it's been a long time since I gamed much (it's entirely Kingdom Hearts' fault, which I finally gave in and played over the summer. And then I was hooked on games again, ack.) and I haven't played most of the "classics", so.

Still playing World of Warcraft (my shaman is level 54 now) of course, my cousin and I beat Gears of War two days ago too, and I'm still trudging through Mega Man ZX (2nd boss beaten so far) as well as poking around in Elite Beat Agents for some quick rounds.

Shadow of the Colossus.
Having fun with Time Attack challenges, and going to try out Hard mode in a few days.
Still juggling Shadow Hearts, Shadow Hearts II and Shadow Hearts: From the New World (New World being the most frequented right now).
I need to hook my GameCube back up and get back to finishing Baten Kaitos.

Currently, I'm playing through Rainbow Six Vegas and am having quite a blast with it; recently beat Gears of War (it was fun playing on insane with a friend...made it much easier to beat! Now if only I could find that last COG tag ). Feel like renting something to break the monotony of everything, but right now, I don't think there's much for me to rent, either!

My friend gave me her extra Game Cube over Thanksgiving break, so I bought Lego Star Wars I and Super Smash Brothers Melee.
My boyfriend also lent me the Mario Kart Double Dash for the GC, but I haven't gotten the chance to try it yet.
Lego Star Wars is fuuuuuuuuuun.... :neko: I haven't even finished playing through Phantom Menace, but I'll definetly be picking up the sequil eventually (probably once it hits Player's Choice).

Most of my gaming time currently goes to Final Fantasy XII Finished! Which means currently, I'm not playing much of anything. Real life stuff is going to keep it that way for a little while at least.
Other games I'm actively playing:
Ouendan! Finished!
Nintendogs
Meteos I'll pick this up occasionally, but I'm not actively playing it
Final Fantasy III not actually playing, will re-start later
Final Fantasy X-2 (completionist 2nd playthrough - stuck at floor 80-something in the Via Infinito) kicked Trema's ass and then finished the game :D
City of Heroes
Games I'm still in the middle of and would like to finish, but haven't picked up in a while:
Dragon Quest VIII
Disgaea
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (on GC)
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
Final Fantasy IX (completionist 2nd playthrough)
... to say nothing of my backlog of games I want to play but haven't even started :nervous:

I'm currently still working on Wild Arms: Alter Code F. I'm currently in the shrine (I think) dedicated to Lucadia after using the Dragon Scale. Not sure if that is the exact place I need to be, but given that the previous part was like "Talk to a bunch of people and hope something happens", I'll take what I can get.
As a side thing I'm going through Hawke's quest in Romancing SaGa as he was my second play through and need of the most improvement. As I've already replayed Aisha's quest the first play through. Plus I can test something for someone. Just watch as someone gives the answer before I even reach that point...
Beyond that nothing else will be decided until after I finish/drop Wild Arms: Alter Code F. I have various ideas, but nothing is set in stone. It's a case of "This is from a loved series so I must play now" vs "This is new (relative to when it was gotten) and thus I may as well play it" vs "I've put this game off for way too long". If that makes any sense.

I generally play only one game at a time, and *usually* finish one before starting another. This is just because most of the games I play are RPGs and when I play I like to really get into them. Sometimes I'll have a 2nd game going on my gameboy but more often than not I'll only play it when I'm not playing other games at home..
So.. anyway... I'm currently playing FFXII. I suspect come Dec 11, I might have a hard time sticking to the one-game rule because I'll then (hopefully) have Zelda to contend with! :D :frog:
I suppose technically, I'm still playing a Wild Arms game (in the final area, even!) - I need to get back to it eventually...and maybe someday..someday I'll finish Chain of Memories properly.

I am currently playing Titan Quest (PC). I'm in Act 3 (China). My ATI 850x hates this game. As soon as I start playing it, I hear my fan revving up. Yesterday, the game crashed on me after an hour of play. I'll have to reduce the graphic setting to make it playable.
Once I'm done with TQ, I'm going to put more than 3 hours into Zelda (Wii).

There, short and simple. I want to get back to Trauma Center (DS) but that Final Sin is a bitch. :P

DOA4 & F.E.A.R. on 360.
When my new PC is running I'll be trying Quake 4 & a load of Sims 2 on it.
"Singles" on my current PC ;)
Recently finished Gears of War and Call of Duty 3 on the X360. Since then I've playing through Call of Duty 2 on my PC.
I really should dig out my PSP and bring it with me on my daily train ride. Also been thinking of getting "Ace Combat X" for it but I've got a few other PSP games I need to finish first (Syphon Filter, Pursuit Force and others).

I'm trying to finish La Pucelle Tactics. I'd started it quite a long time ago, but got distracted and never finished it. I love the Disgaea/Phantom Brave/Makai Kingdom series, but after playing the newer ones in the series, it's hard to go back to an early one like this.
I'm still making my way through FF IX. I'm not a quitter like ADC. :P

I'm working on Final Fantasy XII, and I've got about 35 hours in so far. I'm currently debating whether I want to take another shot at Bergan or if I want to backtrack to level and get some cash for better equipment.

Wild Arms: Alter Code F (PS2)
Super Monkey Ball: Bannanna Blitz (Wii)
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis (DS)
Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion (PSP)
I haven't played Wild Arms since my sister took the PS2, so I went out a bought a used one yesterday. Haven't hooked it up yet though.
Monkey Ball is great. I love most of the music (soundtrack please!) and enjoy the harder stages. The only thing I could do without is the boss battles. The first few were okay, but they get annoying as the game goes on. The hit detection on their weak spots gets poorer and poorer IMO.
I've decided to stop going for the gold in Mario vs. DK 2. I got gold all the way up to stage four, but from now on, just passing will be enough. My backlog is too great. I'll save gold medals for replays.
I have mixed feelings about LoH. It looks great. The story isn't too special, but I realize this is a remake of an older game. I like what I've heard of the soundtrack (Falcom!) but leveling up is tedious when you only get 2 exp. per battle (sometimes.) So I'm still early in the game, and it really isn't a priority.
I'm not even counting Castlevania 2 or SaGa 2 (FFL2) which I don't play frequently at all.

RE1? Also, did you play the remake or the original game?
Anyways, I personally think the rest of the main series is great. Resident Evil 2 is still one of my all-time favorites because of the characters and great storytelling. Resident Evil 3 has the best villain. Code Veronica has the freaky twins. Resident Evil 0 has the great tag-team/item dropping system. And Resident Evil 4 is just plain scary.

Just got a Game Boy Player, so I was hunting for a new GBA game and ended up grabbing Zone of the Enders: Fist of Mars (for a measley $3).
Played for a few hours and WOW! It's a tremendously talky strategy RPG with a dense-as-a-neutron-star Sci-fi story, and anime inspired 2D graphics.
Perfectly tailored to my tastes, in other words. :)

Okay that was hectic. After facing Lady Harken for the first time and getting done with the Lucadia Shrine, I end up doing the following. First it's a long trip on the ocean with constant battles. Then when I nearly reach my destination which is fallen sanctuary I discover I need the other ride. To get the other ride, I end up filling up the encounter gauge and hope I can avoid just enough battles to reach it. I finally get the ride and realize it still can't reach the area.
At least I'm able to visit Court Seim again, but I have a strange feeling that I probably did all that earlier then I should have. Then again it did open up a new location. I also learned that Jane is at the Barrier Shelter or at least was there. So it still won't be a total loss. Okay so apparently Jane is not at the shelter unless I'm over looking something. Also darn it the forgotten house which should hopefully have the Ocarina is on the same area, I'm having trouble reaching..
In any case during the part with Lucadia and Lady Harken for some reason the text would go from a crawl to going by really fast. Especially the second time I did the battle since I wanted to be sure to use a Gella Card, I left the system running and came down to notice the animation advanced, but not the text. Okay this is rather strange and I'm hoping that's a rare instance because speed text is better for replays not first time plays.
Edit: Well let's just say that apparently the long trip I took was worth it. Yeah I found the forgotten house and got the Ocarina. I'll leave it at that for now.

I was in same position; that's where I started. (I think you're talking about the original game, GC version; it's the one that starts off in a mansion, and features things like rabid dogs and the like. Uh does that narrow it down enough? I hope so.)
I played a couple others but now I don't remember which :( I enjoyed them but didn't find them as compelling as the first, perhaps because I was used to the gameplay and the stupid technical limitations (characters that control like tanks not people, etc) got on my nerves. Also I think it's better before the game reveals (only a spoiler for anyone who's never played any RE game) the technological base behind everything. Although the labs etc are creepy, I prefer when you still think they're zombies etc., or else when it just isn't clear yet. RE4 did a good job in getting back a little way toward that.
You definitely need to make Resident Evil 4 an absolute priority. It is head and shoulders above the others and is definitely the game of whichever year it came out, in my book. The graphics is also incredible for GameCube and really adds to the atmosphere. (There's a PS2 version with some extra content, but the GC one looks slightly better.) I kind of wish they'd gone slightly less far toward the FPS end but in total it is still awesome.
BUT. If you really like the series, don't play RE4 yet - you'd never want to go back. You should be able to pick up the next in the series cheap. Once you've played that, when you're tiring of the formula, jump to RE4.
(God damn I need some more Resident Evil. Capcom, hurry up with the Wii-remake!)
As for what I'm playing at the moment: Phoenix Wright 2. I only play it when I go to bed, so it's responsible for losing me an hour's sleep each night. Excellent game. I've just started the fourth case. The third one took me like 8 hours to play (that includes screwing up quite a lot) so there may be a while to go...
I have also nearly finished Touch Detective (so-so game except for its awesome funny/cute/cool characters; worth playing overall, but not anything like as good as PW) but I got stuck on the final case there. I'll get that out again and finish it off quickly after I beat PW2. Actually, I should probably make an effort to ebay both of them (along with the other DS games I finished) in time for Christmas :)

That would be the remake.
It's hard to go back and play the others after playing RE4...the tank controls actually work in 4, considering the camera always follows you. Trying to go back and play with the tank controls with a fixed camera is kind of disorienting. :nervous:

I kind of understand what you mean about the controls; the initial setup was completely unplayable for me, and I stopped playing the game for months after dying to the first zombie about 5 times. When I went back and tried it again recently, I found the alternate comtrol sets in the options and option 'c' worked pretty well for me.

Honestly, that was my favorite part about the Resident Evil storyline and the main reason I got into it so deeply. I loved the history of Umbrella and how everything was developed. Honestly, that's the reason why I still haven't really played RE4 - knowing that's not there makes me want to play something else. I'll get around to it eventually but I've had RE4 for PS2 since its release (never played the Gamecube version) and barely touched it.

• Final Fantasy V Advance
• Final Fantasy VIII
If I were to add Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles to the mix, I'd have an FF going on every console I own. That's yikes.

Finished playing Rainbow Six Vegas. Great game; plenty of intense gunfights. Just prepare to die plenty of times. :D
Finished playing a quickie game of Gears of War on co-op casual. Hey, I needed the achievements for Dom! :P On top of that, finally found all 30 of those damn COG tags! :nervous:
Now I'm...not playing much. Maybe I'll just go back and play Vegas on Realistic. Most of the achievements are for online gaming. Go figure. ;)

Heh I finally got a new party member. Mariel who is rather cute and the type of person I totally approve of being a party member. It's just too bad the game is taking the pure evil route of starting her at level 1. Thus I'm leveling her up and of course gaining a bit of money on the side. As to what level I'm on decided. I guess it will come around the point where the next level seems to take forever.
Also I've been playing the game for nearly/over 61 hours. I wonder how much of that time is because of leaving the system running, how much is due to actual playtime, and on that note how much is due to me screwing up multiple times on certain puzzles. I'm not sure I want to know the answer.

Oh I'm juggling several games at the moment.
For the Gamecube: Tales of Symphonia - haven't touched this one in a while though.
For the PS2: Genesis Collection - just sampled some games.
For the GBA SP: Summon Knight - will get back to soon.
For the GB Micro: FF V - actively playing this, the sharp screen and buttons are a pleasure to use, although the shoulder buttons could be designed a little better. For those wanting to play GBA games, the Micro is fantastic. After playing a long session on the Micro, switching to the DS immediately afterwards makes the DS screen and unit feel huge.
For the DS Lite: Touch Detective and SWR:OG1 - Got back to Touch Detective last night and this morning. SWR:OG1 is on temp hold while I play FF V.

Scratch FF 12. I've beaten that game.
What was your game time? Can you beat 106 hours? And more importantly, how'd you like it? I don't know how much replay value FF12 has, compared to some of the others in the series (6, 7, T, especially), but I enjoyed it a great deal.

Only playing two games at the moment:
Final Fantasy 12
Guitar Hero 2
I'm a bit over 40 hrs into FF12 and haven't gone to Archades yet. I'm just having too much fun going after marks and fighting around.
I'm currently attempting to 5 star every song on Medium, the non Bonus songs right now. Only Hangar 18 is left with a 3 star rating, a handful (Monkey Wrench, Who Was In My Room, Madhouse, Carry Me Home, Instituionalized, and a few more - there's an underlying theme there) still have 4 stars.
My brother got Elite Beat Agents last week so I'll eventually try it but right now I'm sticking to 2 games, though I left Call of Duty 2 unbeaten before getting FF12 so I got that to play as well.

Okay so I'll admit to checking the FAQs on occasion. Still it seems I'm nearly done with the game, but I want to make sure I can use Jane in the final party and stuff like that. For it my destiny to use her in the party. Although I am kind of bitter that I couldn't use Mariel longer.
Although apparently there is some super secret character that falls under the realm of "It's so hard to get him that if you get him then you don't need him". So I'm not sure if I'll bother. I guess it depends on who it is. I could always just go for Jane, beat the game, and then try for the guy later.
Edit: I now have Jane and Emma thus all is right in the world. Or it will be if I start having Emma download a bunch of skills. Perhaps I should do that before tacking the final area.

Well I ended up receiving all but one of my Japanese Wii games as well as the conosle and the one that I tried out first is the one I've been playing all day - Odoru: Made in Wario (Warioware Smooth Moves).
Seriously, this game is amazing. The DS version took the mini-game format and added the stylus, which was great but the Wii version is so much better.
I'm sure everyone has seen videos and stuff but there's a lot of variation in the games and how you hold the remote.
You will look like an idiot (holding the remote at your nose or above your head anyone?), you will have an aching arm but you will have a huge grin on your face!
Little touches like using the speaker on the remote well or having your Mii in some of the games just makes it even better.
When this arrives in the US or Europe or wherever you are, if you own a Wii you need to buy this. It's as simple as that! :D

Oh, he's not that tough... or is he? He did hand me my butt the first time I ran into his recruiting battle. I think I beat him handily once I was leveled into the mid 50s to 60 range, though. It's useful to have a full roster of backup characters, but I don't use him much. Finding out what he's been up to when you run into him is fun.

I haven't attempted to get him yet or made any progress beyond recruiting Jane and Emma. However I did find out who the guy is. Thus I think I'll recruit him just for the heck of it. As for how hard/easy he'll be for me, I guess I'll find out eventually. Either way I should get back to playing either later today or tomorrow hopefully.

Heh, heh, uh, you all are talking about Zed right? Yep, he's my favorite comic-relief villian and all around character in general ^^. I just love his goofiness.
He's also suprisingly useful if you build up his skills a bit.
Ah, also, I think it was Cecillia that has a move that makes beating him easy-ish. One of his strongest moves is actually counted as a physical attack and it can be bounced back with one of her spells.

Well I take time off from gaming during the quarter so that I'm not distracted from homework, but lessee... the list is thus:
Kingdom Hearts II
Shin Megami Tensei: DDS 1. I'm nearly finished with this one and have DDS 2 waiting for me.
Xenosaga III.
Okami: Absolutely love this game. It's the only game I've bought in the last year that everyone in the house plays. Let the gaming gods bring me more games like this when I finally get a ps3!
FFXII: I just barely started this. It was purchased as a birthday gift for my husband, but I had to see how cool it was. I was right, it was a great birthday gift :-)

I just started Shining Force III Scenario 2. It's pretty awesome - I finally get to see the background behind a number of events from the first game, the story continues, and the combat scenes got a major graphical upgrade to boot. Hooray.
I decided to pick up Fire Emblem for Gamecube now that it's only 20 bones. Really enjoying it so far and find it easier to get into than many tactical RPGs. It feels like something halfway in between the heavy TRPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle. A pretty enjoyable middleground. If somebody will remind me, this is the game where if any of your characters are reduced to 0 HP they PERMANENTLY die, right? No second chances whatsoever?

No second chances. Plan your moves carefully, and don't tempt fate with hit rates and critical odds. You'll get used to the necessary caution before too long, but there is definitely a learning curve.

Finished SRW Original Generation 2 for the second time. Really not sure if I want to do Ex-Hard mode or not.

I think it should be mentioned that while some do die, others just get removed from the battle party and thus are demoted to NPC status. In any case I learned to be balanced, I'd try to keep some alive, but accept the occasional death. Of course since it was a rental and I was new to the series, I didn't have the time or experience to repeatedly try each battle. In fact I had literally completed the game and was watching the ending just as it was time to return it.

Well now that I finally have him in the party, I think I'll do just that. However before hand I'll visit Mariel and see if she has any new items to harvest. Okay so not much to be honest, but ah I can check back later. Ouch building up his skills is quite pricey.
So let's see the main thing left besides beating building up the guy a bit in terms of his skills and defeating the final boss would probably be to get the remaining volumes of that Witch story. I have volumes 1-4 and Last. Either way it's back to the guy killing, Emma downloading, and Jane stealing for a bit.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Apparently where the Ing went after Samus destroyed Dark Aether)
Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (Movie villains are fun. Except for Meta Cooler. He's a cheap-ass :anger: )
Wii Sports (Gaaah, why do I suck so bad at bowling? )
PS2

Got it. I haven't had any trouble so far, but it's annoying that some weaker characters can take only a single hit before they're on death's door and it really cripples my strategy style having to shield them so much. I also seem to have awful luck with level ups with characters often getting almost nothing for stat increases. It tempts me to just unload all that bonus XP and "level engineer" them (reset until I get a levelup that doesn't suck). The weaker ones really need that HP and DEF point.

Odoru: Made in Wario and Pangya have been keeping me busy as far as Japanese Wii games are concerned, with Excite Truck and GT Pro Series being the US Wii games I'm playing.
As I've said elsewhere, Wario really is must-own stuff and everyone with a Wii should buy this when it's out in the US/Europe next year.
Pangya is cool but the swing meter is very sensitive and it's hard to get to grips with, so if you're thinking of picking it up when it gets it's US release next week, prepare to dedicate some time to it before you get the hang of it.
I've finished all of the races on the normal setting in Excite Truck, but those S ranks are calling me. Great pick up and play game.
Also really loving GT Pro. The wheel peripheral works really well and doesn't feel like a cheap gimmick.
I think I mentioned before that it's pretty much Auto Modellista in terms of graphics and gameplay but it plays really well and has some great/cheesy digitised Eurobeat music
Got my PS3 online recently and played Ridge Racer 7 for a bit last night. On the 14 player races, it jumps all over the place and is pretty unplayable, but with 5-8 or so people it works fine.
Had some great races last night which started with me and some random Japanese dude and ended up with me, a US guy, a Chinese guy and 3 or 4 Japanese. I won all but 1 race too :D
Downloaded the Motorstorm demo too and am very impressed. Can't wait until it gets its Japanese release next week :)
Stunning graphically too and that's just on a SD TV. I would love to see this in HD.
Aside from those games, I still have FFXII, FFIII, Jump Ultimate Stars and others yet to even start.
I mentioned before I maxed out my CC recently and so have had to cancel some preorders (Sonic PS3, Oanechan/Earth Defence Force 360, Naruto DS and a couple others) but couldn't cancel Castlevania: PoR or MGS: Portable Ops which should be with me soon.
Also had the JPN Blue Dragon ship today and am looking forward to receiving that.
I assume most regulars here are playing their Wii's lately as this forum seems pretty sparse of late :P
I know my internet time has been a fraction of what it usually is since my Wii's arrive.

While there are obviously still side things to consider doing later the main goal is more or less achieved. In short yes I finally beat Wild Arms: Alter Code F. Thus that makes three Wild Arms games completed so far. Alter Code F, 2nd Ignition, and 4th Detonator.
In any case the ending was rather nice over all. I kind of like how it would switch to anime style on occasion. Which was kind of fitting given the anime style opening when you load a save. Plus if part of the ending was effected by whether or not I recruited the optional members then I'm glad to have gotten all three. I did make use out of them.
Speaking of the optional characters, the fact that Jane is playable in this version helps a lot. I loved using her whenever I could. She's probably my favorite character and I like the battle theme that came up during times you were controlling her more directly.
Over all I don't consider Wild Arms: Alter Code F to be amazing or anything like that. However over time my opinion on the game did improve. Thus rather than consider to be bleh, I can at least consider to be decent. Which is still a pretty good improvement all things considered.
Now that I've completed the game, I'll probably go back to the replay of Hawke's quest in Romancing SaGa. While I'm working on that, I'll also be taking the time to decide what to seriously play next and dedicate myself to. Hopefully I'll have decided by the time I'm done.

I guess I can make a small update.
In Zelda: TP, just got two mirror fragments in one day. The Snowpeak Ruins was a fun level due to the Yeti being a fun character. The Temple of Time (yeah, it's a dungeon this time) was surprisingly easy. Backtracking was a bit of a pain, but simple. Right now I'm going through the traditional trade quest. And this question may sound silly, but is there a Mario cameo in this one?

No gaming for me since my stuff's at home... Ima play a good chunk of Final Fantasy XII tomorrow night though since I'll be able to use my PS2 once again. I know I'm pretty much at the end of the game.

Got round to starting Trauma Centre Wii tonight and have racked up 2 hours of playtime so far (not bad considering I've only been in the house for 3).
Loving it even more than the DS version for sure. It just feels even more like you are a part of the action.
The new Naomi Weaver story is a nice touch too - particularly enjoyed piecing together the broken bone.
Another thing I'm loving is the story. I played the DS game in Japanese and even though I had a brief understanding of it (and have read/heard most of it in English since), it's very immersive.
I still love the depressed girl in the first GUILT case though. She just needs a hug
Anyway, yeah, loving this a lot. Zelda ain't arrived yet and I haven't had a chance to start Red Steel but this is definitely my favourite US launch title so far.

So yeah I definitely went back to playing Romancing SaGa for now. I'm making progress in making an improved save for Hawke. The party is more or less formed. Hawke, Sif, Diana, and Guella Ha. The main issue is getting Frielei. The sooner I win a certain battle the sooner I can get her. Other wise I have to wait until near the end of the game.
Originally I was planning to get Silver for this play through, but then I realized there is no point to replaying the quests over time if I use the same exact party each time. Besides I already changed it a bit for Aisha. Still since I am changing who gets used in each quest a bit, I can always use Silver again in a later party. Chances of that happening are extremely higher because Silver is divine.
In any case the main thing I'm deciding between is Tales of the Abyss, Final Fantasy XII. Xenosaga 2, and Valkyrie Profile. Given my fandom, I'm leaning towards the former two. However the latter two have the "We're older so play us first" factor. All I'll figure it out eventually, I just hope I don't think of too many other choices.
Suwako Moriya
12-12-2006, 04:35 PM
All right then I'm done with the replay of Hawke's save in Romancing SaGa and have established the new end game save to be used when/if I decide to replay a quest in the future. Yay for getting better jewel rewards each play through.
In any case I can no longer delay the choice of what to play next. Thus my decision is made. After the usual break, I'll be starting on Tales of the Abyss itself. Actually if you want me to be honest, I was planning to start on the game much earlier. The thing is I felt obligated to work on some of the older stuff first.
However I can't keep delaying playing a Tales game. It's not good for my health. I think I said too much with that one statement. In any case I can always work on one of the other games after I finish/drop Tales of the Abyss.

Okay so while I'm taking the usual break period before starting the next RPG, I decided to mess around with Megaman X collection. In any case I'm done with MMX and on MMX2. Not sure how far I'll get before I decide the break period is over. Until then I'm going through them in order. Still all I can say is playing the first stage I chose of MMX2 (Crystal Snail) refreshed me on the stingy nature of some of the games in the Megaman series in general and not just X. Sheesh at the rate things were going I'd probably have to kill a billion enemies before I got a single energy pellet.
Edit: For the record the general plan is to start on Tales of the Abyss on say Monday. Perhaps a bit earlier or a bit later depending on how I feel.

I just finished playing Zelda Ocarina of Time for the FIRST TIME. Yes, it took me THAT LONG to start playing it.
It took me approximately two weeks to beat without a guide.
It really was ground-breaking for its time, I can tell since I did grow up during the SNES/N64 days and I never saw anything quite like this game.
Now that I've finished Zelda, I've moved on to the original Metal Gear Solid sie I feel like I owe it to myself to play the classic games I ended up missing out on when I was younger.
After MGS is Final Fantasy VII of course, another classic game I never played.
FFs 3, 5, and 8 are now on hold because of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. The DS is having a charge while I'm here, and then it's back to the second-half paintings. I'm trying to get 100-percent exploration on all the maps and have found that Holy Lightning is very useful in uncovering hidden rooms.

Right, I'll do an update.
Main game I'm playing at the minute is Red Steel on Wii. Loving it a lot so far to be honest. Not finding it as shit/subpar as most are making it out to be.
I'm around 35% in and some of the sword fights are becoming frustrating but it's nothing too serious IMO.
I need to get my fucking DS switched on ASAP too because I have Jump Ultimate Stars and Castlevania: PoR still sealed and waiting to be played. My excuse is I'm too knackered this week so the weekend will be my chance to get them started.
Also don't know whether to wait til Red Steel is finished before starting Necro Nesia. Although Zelda and Elebits are somewhere in the postal system so when they come I expect to be playing nothing else.
Chacrana didn't believe me (most people probably won't) but I really am cutting back on the amount of games I buy until my CC bill is down a little. Should be the end of February or so thankfully. Oh well, at least I'll be able to buy all the stuff I held off on then in one go :nervous:

I cannot mofckin' wait until tomorrow. I'll be home around 11:30 AM and then I have to decide what to do first. Options are:
1) Pick up Metal Slug Anthology from Gamestop (have it preordered)
2) Finish Final Fantasy XII
3) Start Zelda
4) Start Gears of War
Do you know what that's like? It's like fuckin' Heaven.
Dude, fucking start GoW NOW!

Well, I'm going to try playing Metroid Prime instead. Yeah, I finished it years ago, but I wanna see how it looks with the component cables and in progressive scan.
After experiencing a few minutes of the awesomeness that is Metroid Prime, I guess I don't have a choice but to go directly into Gears of War... probably a better idea since that game is shorter. I can probably knock that bitch out in a day.
For the record, it usually takes about one swing for me to knock a bitch out, but GoW has tenacity like a motherfucker.

Okay I just beat Zelda: TW after like a month since launch. Okay I haven't had much time to play it, been distracted with other things. And for those that are playing the GC version and already up to the halfway point (I'm guessing your up to Arbeter's Grounds or Snowpeak Mansion) all I can say is, "DAMN! You guys are fast!" Overall if I were to give it a ten point score, I'd say it's less than a 10, but more than an 8.8. ;) I found it better than Wind Waker (which is still enjoyable), but I liked the N64 Zelda titles more (even Majora's Mask).
Out of all the Zelda games, the worst one IMO is Zelda II: Link's Adventure for the NES. I don't care if it's "Old Skool" which seems to be an excuse for making old games "cool" from most gamers. And let's not get the cd-i titles involved.
The only problem is now is that I don't have any other game to play for the Wii at the moment...until Wario Ware: Smooth Moves comes out. I guess I could finally try that Wii sports that came with it. Besides, I kind of want to go back to watching anime.
As for games to play on the train or anywhere else on the go, I just picked up Kirby's Squeak Squad and Castlemania: Ports of Ruins or something or whatever. Haven't started either of them yet, but I do intend to soon. :P
Yep, I'm up to the ZOMG Twilight Princess Spoilers swanky Snowpeak Mansion with the cannons. I really like this place as it's a great change of pace from the normal, dungeon, dungeon, dungeon, lunch, dungeon, dungeon.

Is it really necessary to say ZOMG in every single post you make?
Not really. I tend to do it when I have a over the top thing to say. I think I used it in the moe post over in GA. I'll use ZOMG for that. You obviously noticed it before reading or avoiding the spoiler, so it does its job.

How did you like OoT? It's my favorite game, and I'm always curious to see other people's thoughts aobut it.

Heh. Funny, I seem to be doing the same thing. I played both FF7 and MGS for the first time this year, and in general I'm trying to catch up on all the awesome games I missed out on due to never getting a PS1 or PS2 until recently. I also still haven't played OoT - although I do have it waiting to be played eventually, since I got the version of Wind Waker that came with it on a second disc.
I just finished Kingdom Hearts (another of the aforementioned games-I-missed-out-on) and I'm now only a few hours into Final Fantasy IX.

Played a little more than an hour of Gears of War... really good so far. I'm getting used to the way the cover system works and the combat is really fun so far. One of the very few US developed games that feels well polished. Definitely happy with it so far.
Metal Slug Anthology -- played a bit of MS1, MSX, and MS6. I've played the shit out of MS1 and MSX in the arcades so I know how these compare and... Overall, it's definitely worth the $40, and even though the hitflashes are gone from the games, the removal of slowdown seems to outweigh that disadvantage. While it's not the game's fault, I really wish there was a decent control option though... the classic controller doesn't work and the Gamecube controller is complete shit for games like this. Oh well.
Someday, a company will release a competant first party controller. I have no idea when that'll be, but it'll be a fantastic day.

Tales of the Abyss, PS2. About twenty hours in, IIRC. Tear has to be my favorite character so far, followed by Jade and Anise.
SRW Alpha 3, PS2. Playing on Ex-Hard (pfft), with 4x replay data, thanks to my brother and I bashing through it over the year and a half or so it's been out. I still love it, but just not nearly as much since I've been spoiled by the English versions of Original Generation 1 & 2.
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, DS. Finally, a DS game other than FF3! Yeah, I'm kind of picky - most of the stylus-based games don't interest me, so I don't have much on the DS. This game's worth it, though, and came with the pack of goodies. About 2 1/2 hours in.

I've been playing CPoR now for about 12 hours (there's actually quite a lot to do in this game), and I'm over 900 percent on the maps (I think 1000 percent is perfect). It's still a blast.

Boxart (http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/9128/elebitsnp5.jpg)
Official Site (http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/Elebits/index.html)
Ordered over 2 weeks ago, I finally got Elebits in the post today and have been playing it all morning (just noticed that it was out in the US last week. I thought it was next week - anyone else playing this?)
For those that haven't been following it, the game basically involves hunting down Elebits by opening doors/cupboards, over turning cups and boxes, smashing glasses and bottles and so on. The greeny/blue ones fill up your electricity meter and the yellow and red ones increase the power of your gun - the more powerful the gun is, the more big and heavy objects you can move in your search for the Elebits.
That's just the basics though as there are certain restrictions placed on some levels such as not being allowed to smash a certain number of vases, trying to keep the noise down and so on.
Aiming and shooting is performed using the remote and movement is done using the nunchuk.
The controls are very simple and take no time to get used to.
The early stages are easy, with plenty of time and no restrictions on you meaning you can get used to moving objects and finding the best places where Elebits usually hide etc.
I'm up to the 6th stage after two hours play and it's quite tough, but it never gets frustrating as as long as you take your time and be careful not to break too much/make too much noise etc, you'll be fine.
The best comparison I can think of is one part Pikmin, one part Katamari Damacy and one part FPS.
Really though, there's nothing like Elebits out there and it's definitely one of the best Wii launch titles.

I finally got Elebits in the post today and have been playing it all morning.
Make that playing it all day. Got around 5 hours or so in with this today and have to say, it's better than my early impressions.
Now that I've played more, I've experienced boss battles amongst other things, which are great and change up the gameplay from the same things over and over.
Although I was surprised at how quickly I picked up the controls (took about 10 minutes, something I've noticed with every Wii game I've played so far - for me anyway it's taken me very little time to get accustomed to the controls and it's a little weird how second nature the remote + nunchuk now feels), I was even more taken aback at how quickly everything "clicks" and you get a routine down for doing things fast/accurately with little effort.
I've read there's 29 or 30 stages and I've done 20 or so, so I'm thinking another 3 or 4 hours should do it which would make a total or 8 or 9 hours which doesn't seem too bad.
Like Katamari though, there's a ton to collect and view so it will last long after the mains story mode is complete.
I also got a chance to start Kamen Rider Kabuto on the PS2 tonight. Probably something very few here are aware of, but it's based on the TV series of the same name. All in all it plays a lot better than most anime/live-action tie-ins and feels more or less like playing an episode of the series. Very immersive, down to the rendered intro from the series.
One other thing I thought some people would be interested in is the PSone PSP downloads from the Playstation Store. I bought Cool Borders last night from the HK store (works out at ~£3 from the US store and ~£2 from the HK store which is obviously very, very reasonable) and the whole thing is implemented really well. It's a very smooth process from purchase to download to PSP and the emulation is excellent too. There is also the option to change the screen size and there is a manul scan included with each game download as well (wasn't this supposed to happen with Virtual Console downloads?).
The only drawback I can see at the minute is that, if you're anything thing like me, you'll want to download as many games as possible (not a lot there at the minute but Crash Bandicoot, Resi Directors Cut, Tekken 2, Jumping Flash and Silent Bomber for £2-£3? Yes please!) and so I'm gonna need to buy quite a few more memory sticks.
Each game is around 200-300Mb at the minute, with Crash being the biggest at 600 or so, which means you're looking at around 2-4 games per 1Gb memory stick.
Anyway, not sure where to go after Elebits. Jump Ultimate Stars, Castlevania: PoR, FF III, FF XII and Necro Nesia all still remain unopened but I got Blue Dragon today and am thinking I might dive into it later tonight (3 DVDs so it could take a while :nervous:).

Regarding the game downloads, couldn't you simply just move the game files to the computer for larger storage as in HDD or even archiving to CD/DVD. Even if the game files are tied to your console unique ID#, you can always put them back to the memory stick if you want to play that game again. That way you wouldn't have to buy another memory stick everytime you filled up one with games. Or is the Sony DRM so restrictive that you can't even do that?

Well I finally started on Tales of the Abyss. I haven't gotten that far yet. I was mainly establishing a save since I was using the computer while play. Of course by establish I mean make some progress and reach my first town. Thus I don't have much of opinion on the game yet. Actually I would have played a bit longer, but I'd rather not divide my attention between both the computer and the game. Especially given the type of battle system that Tales has. Either way I'm hoping to make progress over time, I'll see how things go.

I beat Final Fantasy XII yesterday and now I started playing Disgaea 2 again so I can try to finish it up before Christmas. I've just been leveling up some of my characters since Adell is my only decent character. He is about 10 levels higher than my next strongest character. I also need to go back and beat Okami.

Finished Gears of War just now... awesome game. Really, really well put together and it avoids the one problem that plagues most shooters -- boring combat. The fighting in this game was always fun and varied enough so that it stayed interesting for the entire game. This is basically the game to own if you have a 360.
Next up, I'm thinkin' it's Zelda time.

Yep, plus it gets better next month with the release of Lost Planet (which I think will be even better than Gears). I have the US SE preordered but might cancel that and go with the Japanese version as it's out in 4 days and can be played in English (but there doesn't appear to be a SE). Hmm. I'm getting the SE for Lost Planet myself... I'm generally a sucker for bonus discs.
What I've been doing other than GoW though is trying out some Gamecube games on the Wii to see how they look with component cables... the difference is absolutely huge compared to what I got with composite. Resident Evil looks perfect, Smash Bros. looks a hell of a lot better... everything's just so damn pretty now.
Anyway, I really hope that Zelda lives up to my expectations.

My biggest complaint and all of my friends who were playing this game is the lack of a classic controller support. I am not too fond of the games 'experimental' controls with the Wii-mote. I would have liked to have an option to hit a button to throw a bomb instead of having to flick the damn remote every time. SNK really dropped the bomb on that part, but the rest of the game is really solid.

Picked this one up myself today, and while I haven't found a control scheme I completely like yet, the game is friggin insane! I've just been playing on continuous mode to get through all the missions, and damn, I suck!! :D I think my first time through the first game I used like 50 continues. Well... I think you're struggling to shoot diagonally because you can't :sd: . The only way you can shoot diagonally is with the machine gun, and even then, you have to shoot upwards and then stop aiming up while still firing... that's the only way to shoot diagonally. Well, either that or use a vehicle.

On a related note, Contra Spirits is coming to the Japanese Wii VC tomorrow or next week and could/should hit the US sometime early next year.
Well! That was fun. I didn't get Charlotte's last quest done, but I did complete the Nest of Evil and, therefore, explored all 1000 percent of the maps. Just got my 360 last week and on of the seven games I got was Enchant Arms. Its the first JRPG I've gotten since Grandia II and Evolution for the Dreamcast. Well I guess you can count Shenmue II as well but these type of RPGs are far and few between on the Xbox that I forget sometimes. I know real gamers get all the systems but I'm on a budget and only run with one system at a time.
Anyhoo finally started in and was on it for hours going through the story. Now I already know its average at best but its still fun.

Heh that one of the interesting moments of the game. In any case at another forum people were discussing the idiocy of the game not having a hard quick save. Which means if you die, you have to do an entire dungeon again.
One person brought up an interesting idea. Which is this. You go through a dungeon as much as you can. You collect the treasures and such. Then after that you backtrack through the dungeon and save outside.
Now the problem is this can be tedious. Also you'd have to guess when to backtrack. However the benefit is by doing so you've saved with the treasures already collected, you've gained some experience and so forth.
Then when you go through the dungeon again you can bypass the treasure hunting and such. You can just go straight for the boss. Possibly fighting some battles to gain more levels.
In any case if/when I can finally get around to playing the game, I'll probably just gain one or two levels on occasion to be on the safe side and worry about the higher amount of leveling when I know it's time for the final area.

I'm playing Bully right now. I had my doubts about it since I hate GTA, but this game is really fun. You can skip class, but it's good to go to get extra skills. Missions are fun and the controls work well compared to GTA. Plus picking up girls is a nice bonus. <3 Art class. ^_^

After a (slightly) dry period of 3 or 4 days where nothing new arrived, I have received/started playing loads of new stuff.
First off, got round to starting Zelda Twilight Princess. Fantastically good. I'm a Zelda fan, don't get me wrong, but I've never been hardcore into the series. I loved Wind Waker (aside from those sailing bits) but this is just so much better. It's one of those games where you know what you're getting before you play and it just feels so right.
The control is great, especially the combat IMO. The traditional Zelda sounds coming from the remote speaker is a nice touch (although they seem very loud at night when it's quiet!) and I'm loving the soundtrack.
Aside from that, I got MGS Portable Ops and Parappa on PSP, Need for Speed Carbon on the 360 and Motorstorm on PS3. I've posted my Motorstorm impressions in the separate thread so I'll talk about NFS and Parappa as I haven't started MGS yet.
I had to buy Parappa as, even though I own the PSone game and this is more or less a direct port, I love the game so much!
As I said, this is more or less the same game but you can download remixed versions of the music online and stick them on your memory stick but I haven't tried that yet.
Enjoying NFS too. Feels a bit too The Fast and the Furious for me with the story, but gameplay-wise it's a great little racer.

Yup, Bully is a fantastic game. I enjoyed the girl kissing element too, although I will admit that grabbing the younger girls asses was pretty irresistable :D

My D3 Publisher 360 games arrived to day, and both are pretty good fun. I've probably put more time into Onechanbara VorteX than EDF3 thus far - it really is ridiculously gratuitous in every way possible, but its soo much fun just chopping zombies to pieces and watching the blood splatter and run down the screen :neko:

Ah cool, someone has them both. I'll likely pick up EDF3 first and I'm kinda hesitant on Oneechanbara. The second PS2 game is decent enough, but as seems to be the case in most of the Simple Series games, the difficulty takes a huge leap at certain points.
Is the system/gameplay the same as the PS2 versions?

I've not played any of the previous games, so I can't really compare. I think this one does add a few new things - some stages allow you to switch characters in the middle of battle, theres a gauge which causes you to go insane if it fills (constant health loss, but you get an insane power boost) and the alternate costumes are done via a "dress up" screen where you get to choose the individual components of your costume. Other than that I think its probably just a case of things being far more polished - aside from looking far better, there are some FMVs of reasonable quality scattered here and there, a new character armed soley with guns, a moterbike based stage and the game is supposedly something like 3-4 times the size in terms of the number of stages.

I'm still going through Kingdom Hearts II. Over 33 hours of game play now. I've cleared out most of the lands, with Halloween Town and the Pride Lands being taken care of last night. I think I have Aquatica, Twilight Town, and Tron's world left before I can hit the last worlds and go towards the end of the game. :)
All the Ivalice Alliance talk over the past few days sent me racing for the GBm, whence I began a new journey into Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Crack in the vein, dude. :tired: Played for a couple of hours until the SELECT and START lights came on. Then I popped it into Slot-2 while the GBm charged.

I'm thinking of giving Sword of Mana another try soon. Most likely sometime in the next few days if I don't ultimately change my mind. See if maybe this time I'm in the right mood to play the game. At the very least it wil give something to do portable wise while I concentrate on Tales of the Abyss console wise.

Okay I decided to give Sword of Mana another go and this time I made some actual progress. Mainly because I actually explored the dungeon and got a new weapon that could actually kill that thing. Of course then I find later on a Salamander I got access to would allow me to destroy another thing to move forward. Hmm I'm starting to see pattern here, find weapon or mana spirit to move forward...
Also after all this time, I've finally started playing Final Fantasy 3 DS. So far it's looking to definitely be more interesting than original. I've got the four mains together and I'm currently leveling up to level 7 as a decent base level. Once I can access job classes, I'll start on the classic ideal. Which is to try and make sure each person is a different class.
Edit: Granted level 7 may be pushing it, but I'm not really focusing that well on the game since I'm using the computer so leveling up a bit is the most logical thing to do. I just have to peek on occasion.

Yeah I've noticed that anytime you've been online at the same time as me, you've been playing Marvel.
As for Lair, I wouldn't be in any rush. The game is currently only something like 30% complete so it could be a while before it's out :nervous:
Ive been playing some of my chrimbo pressies, in between watching tv and eaating.
Played a bit of Rayman Raving Rabbids, which is just plain insane. Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, which is pretty good and Call of Duty 3, which made me come over a bit ill somehow.

I just finished Castlevania:PoR last night only with 877.2% of the maps completed. Fun game overall, but it's kind of sad they removed the stylus puzzles from DoS.
And now I've just started Kirby SS. A little easy so far, but I know I'll have fun looking for the treasures and some of the new abilities are great. Especially Ninja and Metal Kirby. It's also great that Angel Kirby is back from AM. :P

Yeah I know but it's kinda conflicting/worrying how it's so early in production but no where near complete (even if it looks amazing this early) and apparently out in a couple of months.
We had a mad fest of SSX Tricky on Christmas Eve, along with some Tetris Worlds (because I only have one DS and cannot, therefore, have multi-player Tetris DS) for flavor. I really hope they bring back the crazies for SSX Blur instead of the stupid create-a-boarder bullshit they had for SSX On Tour. They're an huge part of the draw of that series. I'm not just saying that because I'm a Kaori fanboy, either (though that's certainly true).

Only playing two games at the moment:
Final Fantasy 12
Guitar Hero 2
An update on these two:
Nearly 80 hrs into FF12. Got 4 hunts left, currently in the stupid Pharos of Ridorana dungeon, which is starting to really get on my nerves. This is the most time I've put into a game (I think), having a lot of fun playing it and all but the story is not as interesting as it could be. Maybe it's because I'm doing a lot b/w story events that I forget what's happening, but it's not drawing me in big time.
Only got 5 songs (Carry Me Home, Psychobilly Freakout, Insitutionalized, Hangar 18, Freebird) left to get 5 stars on Medium in GH2! Probably will get back into this after beating FF12.

Got Phoenix Wright for Christmas, so finally I have seen how awesome it is XP
I've been playing Pokemon Diamond on and off since the Japanese release. At the moment I'm basically on an extended level grinding mission since I can just barely beat the Elite Four, and the champion just kills me straight away. Maybe one of these days I'll actually beat it - and with no intention of trying to "catch 'em all" or really engage in competitive play, that will be it for me. My game clock is already at 50 hours, which is quite long enough XD I'm really glad I got it though, I'd forgotten just how fun and addictive Pokemon can be.
I'm also playing Final Fantasy IX, which I enjoyed greatly for the first two discs. Unfortunately, there were a couple of days that I couldn't play it which coincided with what I felt was a disproportionately long stretch of story-without-much-game at the beginning of disc 3, so my enthusiasm for it has waned a bit. Hopefully I'll get back into it when I get time to play it properly again.

Y'know, my enthusiasm for FF9 only waned when it was disproportionate toward gameplay; I thought the story was smashing. There were some stretches, though, when you were going around the world trying to find the next stage and it got a bit tedious. Didn't help that there were a lot of places on the world map which were very brown and ugly. Seemed at times that the Mist Continent was the only place in the world with trees and grass.

So far I love both the story and the gameplay... I just think the balance has been a bit off in the last few hours that I played.
My favourite thing about it, really, is the characters. So many amusing little scenes of their banter, etc... and unlike VIII, where side characters like Watts and Zone get completely forgotten about, IX keeps bringing everyone back through (a) ATE scenes and (b) a story that's actually constructed well enough to do that.

Super Mario 64 - Wii Virtual Console
Still plodding through Zelda Wii, but this weekend I took a break to play this game. I never owned a 64, but I did play it a bit with friends. After grabbing a couple stars, I got pretty hooked. The game has definitely aged graphically, but man, that game play is a blast. I love the open air environments and going back to complete the little side-quests to get more stars. The boss battles felt so familiar after playing Zelda for a while; the more things change the more they stay the same.
I'll go back to Zelda to finish that off, but then I'll come back to this during the Wii game drought until March 07. Hopefully a couple more 64 VC games will show up (besides Kart), and I may check out Military Madness and Alien Crush (I'm a fan of Giger and pinball :nervous:) on the VC as well.

I forget which boss is the level 3 boss....but that whole game is pretty frustrating...the only thing that kept me going was Alicia and the magic spells in the game... Wait until you get Tornado and Meteor. The effects on those 2 spells are damn amazing.

Elebits I knew I was going to buy since it was one of the few games I played at E3 2006. So far, I'm really liking the game. It helps that the main character's name is the same as my real name ;)

Well, I'm currently on disc 2 on Blue Dragon.
SOME SPOILERS FOR THE GAME BELOW, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I now have all 5 of my characters and the game is getting gradually harder. The story is pretty interesting but doesn't feel as 'epic' as Final Fantasy so far. It's interesting enough to keep me playing tough, however.
GAMEPLAY SPOILERS BELOW.
So far, I'm really liking the battle system. I like how you can see all of your enemies on the field so you can pick and choose your enemies. Not only that, but you can select to fight them all at the same time, or just one at a time. You also get skills that you can equip when you're walking on the 'field' map so that you can have an advantage. For instance, there's a skill called 'Stealth' and if that's equipped, the enemies are less likely to notice you so that you can almost always get a back attack on them.
The game system is pretty interesting as well. Basically, each character has a shadow monster that you can level up. They start off with the catagories 'Sword', 'Black' and 'White'. You basically can choose to level up one catagoryl at a time. As you level up, you gain new skills that you can equip on your characters. It's pretty like an alternate job system, in my opinion. But anywho, on to the catagories. Sword is basically like your Warrior. Black is like Black Mage. White is like White Mage. Monk is well, like a Monk. Power is your debuff spells. Barrier is your buff spells. Asassin is like a thief. Armor is for defensive skills. Combination is for extra slots for you characters whether it's equip slots or your skill slots.
One of the things that I didn't really like is how you don't really have weapons or armor to equip. Instead, each character has a slot for a Ring, Necklace, Bracelet and Jewlery(I think these are it but I know there's only 4). First one adds Attack, second adds Defense, third adds Magic Attack and fourth adds Magic Defense. I really wished these were actual weapons and armor that you equip, but I guess this works for me as well.
The graphics for this game is definately next-gen(why are we still calling it this when it's out already I have no idea...but oh well) and looks very clean. As mentioned in previews, there are some noticeable slowdown in the game, but nothing too distracting(to me at least). Load times are decent and very fast for battles. I usually don't prefer Akira Toriyama's art, but it works pretty well in this game.
The sound and music is your standard Uematsu stuff. There are these English voices that really annoyed me during the beginning of the game, but I've gotten used to it over time. Also, the boss music....what is up with this Japanese rock song that plays during these battles? I got a pretty good chuckle when I first heard this song. Although after a couple of bosses, you pretty much go 'oh shit' when you heard this song, so I guess in the end it does its job.
That's pretty much it for now... if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me and I'll try to answer them. :)

Started MGS Portable Ops last night and have put in a good few hours today. Takes a little while to get into the controls but this is a worthy "proper" MGS game and another must-own PSP title.
It doesn't feel like it's just a PS2 game shoehorned onto the PSP either as the mission structure is very portable-friendly with most missions taking only a few minutes to finish. Similarly, cut scenes are done like the recent comic and aren't as long and dialogue heavy as those seen in the PS/PS2 games.
It's also nice that it's not just another similar MGS game as the team element really adds another dimension to the usual gameplay.
I've also been playing Zelda TP a lot as well as Tekken DR HD on the PS3. Really needs an aracde stick though so when the VF5 one is released I plan on playing this a lot more. Two arcade perfect fighters within a couple of months of each other. Very nice.

Really appreciate you typing that. I've got a basic idea of how the game plays and so on but those just reinforce what I already knew and expanded on some things I was unsure about.
Not sure how good your Japanese is but are there many problem areas where I'll be completely stuck? I know I'll have to resort to FAQs at some stage but from what I've heard, once you get the battle system and menus sorted, it's fairly easy to get into and play through.

Yeah, that's a good one.
If you're interested, there's an excellent run of this at the Speed Demos Archive here. (http://speeddemosarchive.com/Mario64.html#SS100p) It's a single segment, all 120 stars.
Gave Wii Sports a spin last night, and I had a blast with the boxing game. I decided not to get any other games until I have a component cable, but it's okay because that boxing business is too much fun! On a side note, I can totally see how Street Fighter would work on the Wii, and I think it would be very easy and fun to play, having all the special moves mapped to motions of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
It got even better when I went back, read the manual, and learned how to turn that damn'd remote's speaker down. That thing's loud! I also shut off the vibration function to see if, maybe, I could squeeze more than 30 hours out of a pair of AAs.
Then I figured to try it out as a Cube and chose Mario Kart for the task. Again, I failed to read the manual and wondered if there were some incompatibility between the Wii and the Wavebird, and it turns out that there is! But only if you have it plugged into controller port 4 and you're retarded enough to think it's port 1. Once I realized that the ports are right-to-left on the Wii, everything worked perfectly. Nintendo did a very good job on the backward compatibility, and yes, the manual does make a point of noting the reversed port order. (Side note #2: Mario Kart is rather tough when you have one hand on the controller and the other in the shape of an L on your forehead.)
I don't have my Friend Code yet because my house was made in 1961 and has construction materials which deaden wireless signals, so even though my Wii is within 50 feet of my AirPort Extreme base, they may as well have miles between them. I'm looking into the potential for signal-boosters or the kind, but I may have to get a second wireless base and put it halfway. Ick. I've been thinking to do so anyway, as my PowerBook can't pick up the AirPort in my bedroom, either. I'd sort of hoped that the Wii, not encased in aluminium (which also deadens wireless signals a bit), would be able to pick up the signal.

You read the fucking manual, that's how. :P (I had a friend in college who didn't read manuals, either, so he was pretty lost when he bought his PS2 and couldn't figure out how he'd locked out games rated T and M.) No, when the Wii starts up and gets to the channels menu, you press the Home button on the Wii Remote and it brings up a Wii Remote Options screen! Not the most easily noticeable use of such a button, but there you are. From there you can set the speaker volume and vibration functions. I turned the speaker down to one bar, which is plenty loud for my purposes. I imagine that I'd even get some battery savings if I just turned the speaker off, but hearing the sound effects is still neat enough that I don't want to go that far.
I'm doing the research today and hopefully getting the wireless business figured out by tomorrow or the next day. My Mii doesn't look all that excited in the middle of an empty room. :nervous:

Final Fantasy XII, thanks to Santa. I'm only a couple hours into it, not long enough to actually have a party, although I took down the second Mark thinking I probably was supposed to have some support for it. So pretty.... but what kind of a society requries licenses for wearing clothing???? Also, who is running around checking that you're appropriately licensed, anyway? Or is my character, a street thief and general layabout, somehow such a goody-two-shoes that he won't wear that helmet even when he's alone in the middle of the desert, being chased by wolves?
Yeah, I know it's all gameplay mechanics, but these questions come to mind nevertheless.

I am seriously starting to see why people hate Sword of Mana. The AI of the computer controlled helper is some of the worst I've seen. It's like the only purpose of the other guy is to hide in a corner and cheer on the bad guys trying to kill me. It's just ****ing stupid. I had to go through a bunch of scenes while waiting for a chance to save and then died while searching for a save point all because Mr.Happy decided to hold out poms poms.
This is so frustrating. I have not beat any of the three yet, but I can say Tales of the Abyss and Final Fantasy 3 DS are far superior to Sword of Mana. Heck the original version of FF3 with the terrible job balance is superior.
It's too bad about the secondary character in Sword of Mana because the rest of the game is pretty nice. I guess I'll just have to increase how much I level up since apparently I have to do the work of two people. Yeah so I'm angry and bitter.
Edit: I asked my brother about it and it seems he didn't have much of a problem with the helper. In any case I think the main problem is the helper keeps getting stuck. So maybe if I have the main walk slooooooooooowly as possible, the secondary will catch up.

Got myself the Devil May Cry boxset, and I'm finishing up a playthrough of the first game that I started back in 2003, when I'd borrowed a friend's copy. Up to the last fight with Nightmare now. Good game; not sure if I'll bother with DMC2 or just skip right to (the by all reports vastly superior) DMC3:SE.
Also, almost done Shining Force III S2. It rules.

Yesterday I finally managed to squeeze some FF 12 since 3 weeks ago. I'm just about to continue the story instead of sidetracking all over the world, lol. Played some Wii Sports with my gf also, its soo funny.
On a positive note, I managed to pick up the last Wii component cables at the Nintendo store yesterday ::does happy dance:: Now I can play Zelda in 480p!!

Still working my way through Kingdom Hearts II. Defeated another of the 3-4 final bosses (the dude that turns you into cards and dice). Decided then was a good point to go back and finished up some other worlds.
Discovered that to get the "extended" ending in regular mode, you have to complete all the worlds, the mini-games, etc. I think I missed some treasure chests as Roxas in Twilight Town, which would make it impossible to finish that world, right? I also can not find one chest in Land of the Dragons...I'm at the spot it is supposed to be at, but there is no chest.
Is the extended ending worth restarting 40 hours in? I really don't want to have to restart...I have a backlog of games that just keeps growing. :(

I don't think it is (by extended you mean the extra clip at the end?), you can always watch it on Youtube, that's what I did. It's not worth the time and effort trying to complete that stupid journal (the clip is cool and all but not worth wasting 40 hrs of playing).

Cool...I think I'll do that too. Now I just have to figure out if I can get to a decent enough level to beat Sephiroth before I get totally fustrated and give up on it (I'm at level 50...so far most recs seem to be to be at level 85 to have a chance :sigh: )

Official Site (http://bleach.sega.jp/wii/)
Got this a couple of days before Christmas and as a result have only had the chance to open and start playing it tonight.
First impressions are pretty good. Graphically and gameplay wise it's pretty much just the Gamecube game with a cooler control scheme. The controls are:
Nunchuk: Move about (shake to build up power meter/enter Bankai mode)
C: Run
Z: Block
Remote: Move up/down, left/right or thrust towards screen to do different attacks.
A + Remote: Powerful attack
Z + Remote: Specials (Z + thrust in Bankai mode is Bankai Special)
The controls are very responsive, most importantly the attacks where in 9/10 cases it will do exactly as you tell it to with no problems.
The game has a nice fast pace to it as well and I can see it being very good in 2 player.
If you are familiar with pretty much any of the previous Bleach games you'll know what to expect - a Story Mode featuring new characters and unique story, Arcade Mode, Urahara Shop, Practice and so on.
I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth running out and buying a Japanese Wii for unless you're a diehard Bleach fan.
There will no doubt be at least 2 sequels and other Bleach games of a different genre on the Wii and, as the anime is on TV and DVD in the US, chances are one of the games will make it over at some point and it will probably be a sequel to this game which will feature more characters/features/better gameplay.
Plus, by the time that Wii Freeloader comes out, this will likely be a lot cheaper.
One thing you will miss out on if you don't buy from the first press is the DVD that came with preorders. Nothing too special really, just a few movie trailers/TV Spots and video footage of the previous Sega Bleach games.

Today has been good. Not only have I started and so far loved Bleach Wii, but I also decided to give one of my unopened RPGs a start.
Sorry Final Fantasy XII and III, your time will come later as I went with Blue Dragon.
I've played just over an hour of this and am enjoying it quite a bit so far.
Does absolutely nothing new but that's fine by me as I love my RPGs strictly old school. Anyone else with this sort of taste should love this as it's essentially 3 parts Dragon Quest, 2 parts Final Fantasy.
No random battles as you can see your enemies and pick and choose who and when you fight but there is plenty of opportunity for battle and levelling up as enemies appear by the bucket load.
The music is also to die for. For those that don't know, it's done by Nobuo Uematsu whose previous credits include all the Final Fantasies, Chrono Trigger and the two Kingdom Hearts games. Now I'm a big RPG fan but I'm not into them like some others here who could probably give a more up to date example but a lot of the music sounds like it could have come straight out of FF VII. That's not to say I haven't played an RPG since FF VII, but it's the RPG OST I've listened to the most and a lot sounds familiar here which is definitely a good thing.
I can see this one selling 360s in the US when it arrives, much the same as it has been doing in Japan.
If you can live with the old school feel and Toriyama art (I love both so this is perfect for me) then this should give a lot when it comes out.
I can't comment on some of the more detailed features such as magic and so on as I'm playing through in Japanese but Kaiyouske is also playing and seems to be more sane as he knows at least some Japanese so he's probably better placed to answer questions and stuff.

Wound up getting both GCN X-Men Legends games for Christmas as the only gaming related presents (This means it could be a LONG time until I come across a Wii sadly)
Pretty much just started up each game and made 2 saves after each intro stage to allow for a more streamlined experience down the line screwing around with different character builds, combos, solo char attemts, and so on. Each take up a pretty damn big chunk on a standard GCN mem card though...

I went to the movies tonight (not my local theater) and I'm browsing the arcade cabinets and what do I find? MARIO KART ARCADE GP BABY! First time playing this too and boy was it fun. Came in First every race as my favorite racer, Yoshi.
It's different from the console ones obviously. I'm sure you're aware that you can play as Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and that red ghost (Namco's involved, afterall). Also the items you get on the course are limited. For one you're only given a small selection randomly through the random item boxes. Some fun ones like the Blue Virus to make your opponent dizzy or a metal pie pan to chuck at someone.
Another note: To continue onto the next race in Grand Prix mode, you have to insert two more tokens (four to start) to continue. Even if you come in first. It may differ depending on the cabinet. It's nice that it's less to continue, but it's...ridiculous. Hell I raced against my sister ( I feel sorry for her that she came in last and almost got past the other two AI racers in the race) and it didn't even give the option to continue. That I think...sucks. But then again all arcade games are rips.
I know this game is over a year old, but this was my first time playing it and finding one for that matter. Anyone else here find one and play it?

Yeah, my Gameworks picked Mario Kart Arcade GP a while back, and I remember jumping on that game. The very short round I played was fun...then I found out I would have to pop another 20 credits (about $2) to play another round that would last maybe 2 minutes. Unfortunately, I told the game to get lost and have never touched it since. :tired:

I found a Mario Kart Arcade GP machine in Japan once. I decided it was (a) very overpriced for how little gameplay you get and (b) an inferior knock-off of the other Mario Kart games rather than a proper attempt at making a cool Mario Kart arcade game (like the people making it just knew that "well, Mario Kart is a racing game with items" and didn't bother getting the items right or providing a decent variety of them). As such I have never felt any inclination to play it again.

I've played it. It's a great RPG with some top-notch gameplay that makes you keep focused and keeps you on your toes. Plus the game has some really bitchin' boss fights that make you use your head.
The only downside is the story, but it's not too big of a downside anyways. Like the first Mario & Luigi RPG, the story is somewhat silly to down right dumb at points, but you should get a few giggles out of it by the time your done.
If I had to rate it I'd prolly give it a 9.2 out of 10. So, as you can see, I think pretty highly of it. If you find yourself enjoying it I'd say go right out and buy Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga for GBA. Superstar Saga is my fav GBA game hands down.

Eternal Sonata is the US title for Trusty Bell. I didn't put that down the first time because I wasn't sure if that was actually the title or if I made it up... it would be bad if I made it up and nobody knew what the hell I was talking about.
Also, Capcom supposedly has 7 Xbox 360 games that will be released in 2007. One is Lost Planet and the LE for Lost Planet is probably counted as another game. Other than that... I don't think anything's announced.

Zelda: Twilight Princess for the GCN. I gave up a few weeks ago on finding a copy, but since I was at the mall, I checked EB out. I was pleasently surprised they had a copy. Was tempted to get the strategy guide, but I didn't feel like spending the extra $22 on something I'm not going to look at often. Finaly got my sword after 90 minutes of play. ^^ A lot of menial tasks before you can start the real game.

I had a lot of fun with this game, too. I was slightly disappointed because I didn't like it nearly as much as I liked the GBA version, but it played in much the same way where there's a lot of good boss fights, the worlds all were pretty fun, and I even liked the puzzles that it made you solve with the babies. Some of the hammer/jump moves you get with the babies are also awesome.
The story is a bit of a downer, but not too much. I actually liked the story a lot in the first one, my only problem with this one was that it wasn't as funny. If the first game didn't exist, I would think this game was the absolute best, though ^_^

It's very, very good. The battle system is nice and simple and should keep you playing for literally hours at a time.
IMO it's one of the best DS games out there and if you love it you should definitely check out M&L Superstar Saga on the GBA as Partners in Time is a follow up to that game and plays more or less exactly the same.

Thats the point at which I started today, and the ending credits are rolling as I type this. Its a nice game and all, but I seriously hope the next Zelda game has a pretty huge overhaul - there just isn't the same excitement in it anymore. I mean, I've been through the same loop four or five or so times now, there just isn't any excitement in getting bombs or the hookshot now.
Anyway, its time to get back to FFXII, I guess.

That's nothing. I currently just got back into Pokemon Sapphire about a week ago after about at least a 1 or 2 year hiatus and at this time, the game clock says that I played for 462 hours and 32 minutes. I remember I played the original Blue version for about 255 hours, I think which was the max that it kept track of, so I don't really know how many hundreds more hours I wasted beyond that. Overall, it feels like I must have wasted at least a minimum of over a thousand hours on all of the games. Before I was just leveling up mindlessly for what seemed like no apparent reason and now with the latest installments, I spend an even further chunk of my time breeding pokemon with the right skills, stats and personalities, and also planting and growing berries. I'm still only on my 7th badge right now but I'll be moving on soon enough. And I'm going to want to start playing "Leaf Green" and "Emerald" soon as well... I definitely can't wait for the next installments to come along as well. It was probably an extremely unwise choice all those years ago of myself picking up that copy of "Pokemon Blue" with my gift money. I consider myself more of an anime fan than a gamer, but I think Pokemon may be the one game series that some might say I'm unhealthily obsessed with. I think I really need to get a life.

I just don't have the attention span to play any game for that long. Furthermore, most of the optional stuff in RPGs (like the stuff you describe about breeding just the right Pokemon) just doesn't interest me at all... I tend to feel it's optional for a reason.
As of now I've beaten the Elite Four and the champion in Diamond (though I looked at a guide for info about the champion's Pokemon; it was either that or spend even more hours on random level grinding, although now I kind of regret it).
At some point I might come back to it and at least try to fill up my Shinou Dex, but for the time being I'd probably rather start playing a different Pokemon game if anything (like Ruby, which I only got about 10 hours into). But I still have FF9 and Phoenix Wright to continue with, so that will probably be a while off too.

Wii Sports - Well, on a slight break...my right arm is now killing me! :D
Metal Slug Anthology - Had to rent it...I'm a big MS fan. The controls take a little getting used to, but I'm finding the Nunchuck and Wii-Remote combination to fit me better (I could use the GC controller, but I digress). I'm starting to get used to it overall...if I could stop accidentally crouching or aiming up, we'd be in business! :P
Assault Heroes - Yeah, finally got some Marketplace points, and decided to buy this bad boy. Sure, it's nothing original, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. Now I just need to use the other 800 and buy Doom. :sd:
Guitar Hero 2 - I'll probably be playing for a while to come. Just beat Hard last night...now to either move to Expert, or move backwards and do Easy/Medium (so I can buy those other guitars.). :tired:

You can also work on 5-starring all of the songs in each difficulty. That unlocks a special guitar that you can buy in the shop.
I still think it's too bad that you can't choose to play rhythm or bass for career mode. I love playing rhythm and bass guitar. Somehow I enjoy it a lot more than lead. :D
Wii Sports - Well, on a slight break...my right arm is now killing me! :D
Word. I've been taking batting practice the past few days and my left arm is almost useless (I tend to take my top hand off after contact, so I keep the Wii Remote strapped to my left, bottom hand). The worst was when, after a BP session, I tried a home run derby and couldn't hit a single dinger. Not that I'm much of a power hitter, anyway; my best is four taters in 10 swings.
I'll play some more Wii Sports after football this evening. That'll give my arms time to heal.

Happened to me too. Wii Sports is a lot more work than it looks!
I think I've come up with the perfect video game exercise. Play DDR to work out the legs, Wii Sports to work out the arms, and Guitar Hero to work out everything else... at least, for those who like to try to play like a real rock star so dance and jump around like a nut like I do. :D

Past few days I've been playing a bunch of Super Swing Golf for the Wii. Frequently frustrating, though I'm sort of starting to get the hang of it. Game has some really odd slowdown issues at times, particularly Wind Hill hole 14 where the computer seems to always insist on hitting to that little island near the windmills which just grinds the game to a halt for a minute. The game is darn addicting though, and so cute. I like the fantasy golf setting with the wacky clubs and cat ears and stuff more than the realistic golf games.
Also playing a bunch of Cooking Mama on the DS. I like this one very much. I pick it up every so often during a day and do a couple recipes.
My brother brought over Guitar Hero 2, so we've been playing some of that. I loved Frequency and Amplitude, and this one is good to, but hard. I'm still on medium difficulty mode. I kind of wish the buttons were a little smaller because I have trouble with the chords that make me stretch my fingers. I'm probably just not doing it right. Watching my brother just completely shred through expert mode is insane though. One of my favorite things is playing the bass line. Wish they'd give you the option to do that in one player mode.
I think I've come up with the perfect video game exercise. Play DDR to work out the legs, Wii Sports to work out the arms, and Guitar Hero to work out everything else... at least, for those who like to try to play like a real rock star so dance and jump around like a nut like I do. :D
Now I have to pick up Guitar Hero. I want to work out my everything else — I'd be jumping around like Mike McCready (Pearl Jam lead guitarist, looks like he's going to deck Eddie or Stone at least once per concert).

Past few days I've been playing a bunch of Super Swing Golf for the Wii. Frequently frustrating, though I'm sort of starting to get the hang of it.
That's what I'm finding too. The CPU difficulty seems to fluctuate completely. Sometimes your opponent will hit 3 OBs (and still magically win somehow) and other times they're nearly getting hold in ones every time.
I just want to unlock Kooh so I can dress her up dammit :(

Yeah, the computer keeps obliterating me even though I usually do a fairly good job of hitting near par on average, but even when I draw they seem to get so many more pang than I do. The unlockables keep pulling me back. Actually, I also think this game has one of the best unlockable game art galleries ever. So many pictures, and I haven't stared at a game's art gallery so much since Soul Calibur 2.

Caved in and added two more VC games to my list. Both US versions of Super Star Solider on the PCE and the original Zelda on the NES.
SSS is a nice little shmup. Never played it before so that's an added bonus.
Since I'm on the subject, what have other people bought from the VC?
Hopefully Tuesday (the day the Japanese one gets updated) will bring Mario Kart 64 as I really can't wait for that.
OT but it's just turned 2007 here 5 mins ago so Happy New Year and all that :P

Snagged Zelda, but that's it yet. I think I'm going to hold off on non-NES games until I get a Wii Classic; the best possible gaming experience does not include the awkward positioning of the control cross on the Gamecube controller. I do intend to pick up R-Type and, once it's out in the States, Mario Kart 64. Don't know what else, but I have misplaced the list of titles being prepared for Virtual Console.

Yeah that GC d-pad isn't the greatest, but it's not too bad really. I can live with it :P

This (http://www.meanmachinesmag.co.uk/wii/available_now.php) is a nice UK-based site which covers games on the PAL and US VC. That page I linked to is the currently available stuff and in the links at the top of the page you'll find the upcoming stuff. Nice to have reviews and pics as well.
Thanks for the link, which allows me to add the following to my purchase list:
• NES Dr Mario
• NES Gradius
• NES Kid Icarus
• NES Punch-Out!!
• SNES Super Mario RPG (yay!)
• SNES Super Metroid
• N64 Mario Kart 64
That's going to be too awesome. I've been jonesing for Mario RPG off and on these past three or four years.

After playing Zelda awhile, I came back to Bully. On the missions where you have to hit the transformer against those fucking nerds. I've gone through this game thinking it was pretty fun, but now it's gay. I got so pissed off after being knocked out for the 50th time that I threw my controller on the ground as hard as I could..now it's broken in several pieces. Good thing I have a spare. Gay mission. Fucking nerds. It's hard to aim with so little time. I'm not into precision shooting like this...

Is that the one where they're on the roof constantly shooting at you? If so, stay behind the rocks and when the shooter pauses to reload, get out quick and get a good shot or two in. it's hard because you have to aim accurately but just take it slowly.
It annoyed me too but it just takes patience.

Well, I finally beat this game today. All I have to say is that I'm pretty damn disappointed at this game. It could've been so much better. I've ran into some bugs that kept me from progressing the game, so that was pretty frustrating as well. The sword fighting is fun at first, but gets frustrating later. Graphics is pretty shitty as well. Especially when viewed on a 50" 720p TV. My god was it fugly. Elebits looked better, which was pretty sad. I really wanted to like this game, but the problems outweighed the fun in this game. I still recommend people play this game, but definitely rent it. I would give this game a C-.

I've been bouncing back and forth between Starfox Command for my DS, and Family Guy for my XBOX. I'll be moving back to NFS: Most Wanted here soon.

Little update.
I just beat Kirby Squeak Squad and while a fun platformer, it's a little easy. The final boss was easy and for some reason I had more trouble with the guy before him. There is a Time attack mode once you've beaten the game, but I think I'll move on. And to think the whole story was so Kirby could get his cake back. I know it's unfair to compare it with something I can't understand, but Stafi is better in story. Overall, it's fun, but it's not the best Kirby game out there.
As for what to play next, I dunno. I could finish up Castlevania PoR's Nest of Evil but those two creature enemies... :grr:. Or I could get back to Okami.
And for my Pokemon progress, I kind of give up in Pokemon Emerald's Battle Frontier. I can't complain because it is a challange. But it's annoying if you make one loss, you have to start all over. Granted the first couple rounds are easy, but it's annoying to go through again. Okay, I am complaining, but it's what makes us human. :P

I'm currently trying to play the new Zelda. I'm only about two and a half hours in though. I don't know why but I'm having a real hard time getting into it. Is there something wrong with me? I mean it's Zelda! I live for Zelda games, but something about this one isn't sitting right with me.
I don't really like the controls for one thing. Having to wave the remote around to attack just dosen't feel right to me. I just wish they would have set the regular attack to a button. I mean it just feels like unnesessary use of the remote sensor capabilities. I dunno, maybe I just need to get used to it, and give it somemore time.
The second thing that bugs me is, well, a bug. That blue bug that is always on the screen, and makes noise everytime you move the remote. I don't like him, but that's a minor complaint. The bug I can deal with.
And my last gripe with the game is I don't like how Link turns into a dog. This is actually my main problem with the game I think. I wanna play as Link in human form and use a sword. So, a question for those who have played this game: About how much of the game is spent in the dog form? 'Cause I really don't like it. Though maybe I'll get used to this too.
Anyways, that's what I think so far, and, despite my annoying bitching about the game here, I'm gonna keep on truckin' away in it. I just hope it grabs me soon and sucks me in like OoT and Wind Waker did.
