In Summary:
While none of my male friends seem to even register Trinity Blood's existence but the women are completely wrapped up in it, I continue to find it an enjoyable show. The stories being told aren't exactly big pieces and they've stuck to mostly standalone pieces but apparently the big manga/novel stories aren't all that long either. The smaller stories are well told though and there is something very appealing in the atmosphere and designs of the show. There may be some general Gonzo cliché's to be found, but otherwise it all plays well. I've had this disc playing maybe five or six times in the background while working on upgrading the forums recently and each episode had many scenes in both languages that were able to pull me away from what I was doing. It's definitely worth checking out for a number of reasons.

I found myself (a little) bored after the end of this disc. Not of the show itself really, and I did like the new characters introduced (particularly Leon, heh) but I just kind of wondered what happened in four episodes that I could take away in the larger picture. My answer turned out to be: It was pretty. :nervous:
Seriously I do love looking at this show - talk about a visual feast - but I wanted more story here after the first disc. Silent Noise was the best episode on this disc, not just because it kind of made a tie to the previous one, but in atmosphere and whatnot. Also, it was the first in several episodes where Abel went all bad-ass! I'd missed that tremendously in the previous eps.

If you're catching Adult Swim at all, you know it picks up real quick. DVD wise, the next disc will give you everything you are looking for and more. The show really picks up steam starting with Silent Noise and keeps building on it from there on out. I'm only current on AS airings, know nothing of the manga and novels. As a viewer of what I've seen, the very beginning takes time and a little effort to get past the beauty and wait patiently for the story to start going nuts... To me, I love it, though the first few episodes had me slightly confused on what was going on... Looking back, I feel it was part of the journey and I appreciate it more for doing that and building momentum along slowly until the full swing starts. Sword Dancer is my fav episode next to Silent Noise in the early part of the series...

I enjoyed Sword Dancer too, outside the fact that it was utterly predictable. I think most of all I just want people who appear to die stay dead. :nervous:
I forgot to mention that I also got a huge kick out of Never Land because of the Peter Pan reference. Even though I said I got a little bored by the disc didn't mean I didn't like stuff about it at all. I found something cool about all the episodes, I just want to love them.
I am not watching on Adult Swim, so .... looks like I'll have to hold out for the next disc. I've actually followed the manga a little, but I'd watch the show regardless because it's sooooo pretty. I'm not actually worried, though... it's rare for me to not like something at all if I took the trouble to buy it, picky gal that I am. :neko:

Yeah I realized after posting, some of the things I wrote didn't sound right... sorry about that... :) I know what you mean by wanting to love them, beyond just finding something cool with each episode. I was the same with Trigun and Blue Gender, where I thought spiffy, good things about each but where is the big picture and the main hook... When it came around it was a helluva ride... TB happens to be my fav show right now, and I get a bit passionate sometimes with shows I like. Sorry about any confusion, I just love finding people to chat with. I finally found a community, an anime community I can be comfy with and feel part of.

The first volume told me that this is definitely my kind of show. I really, really liked what I saw and I'm confident that I'll love this disc as well. I'm glad I waited to pick up this volume since Vol. 3 is right around the corner now...

My main issue with Trinity Blood so far is that the episodes are fairly random in nature. I know there is plot and these episodes are important to them. I've seen enough anime to recognize the setups. However, it still feels almost slice of life rather than an action or adventure show. I see 8 or so almost unconnected episodes where characters revolve around the main character and sweep in and out of his life. There is little continuity to tie the episodes togther. Even a show like Planetes which was similar in the begining had the cast together most of the time.
As pretty as the show is, I'm left wondering what the point is. Even at the end of the last episode of the second disc, I dont feel anything. Yes, it was a fun episode and a good one. But I'm left wondering what the point of the series is. 8 episodes is about a quarter of the show and about all we have established is that there are 2 Superpowers, there is a fly in the ointment, and we have vampires. Pretty as the show is, I'm left wondering where the plot is.
I do think this seems like a series that would have worked better for me if I had been able to marathon it. I'm sure my interest would be kept better by simply being able to watch it all. I'm enjoying it, and its a fun series. But there isnt that grab and hold that I get from others.

Based on what I've seen, this is a show better served marathon style. That's an honest opinion of how best to watch this show. :)

Part of the nature of it is that there are a number of short stories being adapted and some longer ones as well, so it doesn't have a very linear overall feel. Knowing its source helps in understanding the format.

i JUST got LE Vol #2 today and i have a question on opening scene the second episode on the disc "Sword Dancer".
In the opening scene toward the end right before the title appears, am I seeing a dead priest in middle of a pillar?
It's the opening scene where church members are killed by vampires.
The time mark is from 25:50 to 25.55. On the left side of the screen, I noticed 4 black figures on the left, one white in the middle, and one last white figure on the top right corner as the scene pans out.
I noticed that the very last figure on the left is lying dead but he is lying in FRONT of the pillar which makes it look like he is floating in the air. It sorta makes it look like an optical illusion.
I thought it was funny. Did anyone else notice it?
