Just received an email that FUNi's Afro Samurai site is live and has the "first fight" available for viewing.

Not sure if I care for the character designs. Story has me a little intrigued, but this is one of those "must find out more first" shows for me.

Indeed, though I like the character designs myself. Plus the voice-cast sounds very promising to me :)

"War. War never changes."
Ron Perlman FTW! Jackson is cool too, and pretty much everything about this seems cool except for being released by Funimation, which is fairly uncool, but I might have to make an exception for this. We'll see.
(And an imaginary cookie to anyone who catches the above reference without Googling!)

Yeah, at the very least, getting some profile actors take part in this, makes the whole thing a little more interesting. I would have pegged Samual Jackson to wait for a full feature, not a limited series. His cool factor went up for me... Now, if the show actually is any good or not, we'll have to wait and see. I'm being fairly objective about the whole show with a wait and see approach. For now though, this show seems like it has some promise. :)

I'm wondering how much will it cost us. This is Hollywood talent involved in an anime production. :surprised:

According to AAAAnime (http://www.aaaanime.com/dvds.asp?view=item&code=FN07980), $39.98. ANN says it's five episodes, but I have no idea if they're all standard length.

Yeah I hear ya... 6 episodes, it just sounds like a glorified OVA with Hollywood voice talent. I just hope it pays off and can be something strong and cool. The concept is interesting and the clips look awesome. Can this show truly withstand the barrage of criticism from critics and the casual us audience that knows nothing of anime. Granted, this is Spike TV, a network for men. At the same time, not all men watch anime. We'll have to wait and see...
