So, I come home and find a package. I haven't really had time to check out the DVD, but here's a pic of the Konoka figure (http://www.tenton.org/images/negimafig.jpg) (in her Kimono) that's included with the LE.

Heh, thanks for the help on who the character is. I'm terrible at remembering/ recognizing the Negima characters since I've not read any of the manga and have been watching the tv series only sporadically when I can convince the Hubby to stray away from the PS2. :blush:

Mine was purchased from the Z-Store through Funimation directly. I guess I should try contacting their customer service to find out which figure we were supposed to receive in the Volume 4 LE. :neko:

Disappointing, but not really surprised, given how the the only "second" Nodoka and Setsuna figurines that were released around the time the first DVD came out were the ones that came with a Japanese hobby magazine.

With word that there's no Nodoka figurine, I'm now wondering if I'll just skip volume 6 altogether (since I personally hated the way Xebec screwed up the second half of Negima, especially in the last few episodes).

BTW I got volume 4 today, and mine came with Konoka.

As long as everybody has the opportunity to get all of the figures in the end (those able to score the LE I mean), then it's all good to me. Which means, I'd like to see FUNi set up an exchange program if necessary for those who end up with duplicates due to this "packaging" issue.

Thanks for checking this out! But please don't "fix" it so that Konoka comes with Limited Edition 5, like the box seems to indicate. I think most people got that figure already, so I think the best idea is for Makie to go with LE 5, and for you to offer a sort of exchange program for those that got her with LE 4. I hope that makes sense.

Also, we want more of these figures to be released in the US! (Nodoka!) :)

Well the volume 4 box shows the Makie figure on the side, so I would assume it "should" have been her. I'm one who got Konoka with volume 4 though. I'm guessing volume 5's box has the Konoka figure on the side but obviously I can't check it just yet. :nervous:

Thanks for looking into this problem and coming up with a solution so quickly! I don't think anybody has any duplicates yet (I'll see how the next volume plays out), but it's really nice to know I have a recourse available in case. Just be sure to keep a good stock of Konoka and Makie on hand.

Oh yeah. In Japan, there have been at least one figurine released for all 31 of Negi's students and Negi himself (with figurines of Nekane and Anya coming out next year).

So as a way to fix the problem they are offering a free dvd.... which one who knows... I just know that I got these limited editions to collect all the figures and now I can't complete it. :( :(

Don't blame Funimation on this. Instead, blame the Japanese company that produces the Pactio cards, as Funimation was licensing problems with that company (one thing's for sure: Funi is well aware of the fans of the manga).

If you opt for a DVD are you required to send your duplicate back? Just curious. If all else fails I'll just take Konoka #2 to work (not a bad option what-so-ever). I'm just disappointed that we don't actually have an exchange program for the figures themselves. I mean, that was the whole POINT of buying the LE version was it not? :(

The only thing they ask me to do was choose a dvd and asked for a shipping address. But frist I had to send them a copy of the receipt I order the Limited Edition on.

If someone wants to swap, send me a PT. Otherwise I doubt I'll be going through any hassles with Funi, especially without an actual exchange. On the other hand, it does reinforce my decision not to go with LE's for Funimation's discs going forward. Especially considering this seems to be a relatively widespread issue.

Between the issues involved and how limited the LE's are, it is really getting to the point that it just isnt worth it to me. Thanks for the awesome boxes Funi, they are cool. But put me down for the regular edition discs after the box.

Probably because we should have gotten Makie last round. They probably got it "fixed" so that most volume 5's only had Konokas as intended. Such a sad panda.

Makes me wonder if we should have even brought this up in the first place. They mixed up volumes 2 and 3 just fine without anybody pointing it out, and nobody had duplicates there (of which I'm aware).

But they only imported a certain amount (likely in the same amounts), so either volume 5 has less LEs for sale, there's a bunch of Makies in a later run of them, or they ordered way too many Konokas and not enough Makies and started packing the Konokas in the volume 4s. :sd:

For what it's worth, that's my theory. They probably didn't order/receive enough Makie figures, so started packing in Konokas (which they had already for the next volume) so that people would at least get something. Then, they ordered more Konoka figures to make sure that volume 5 would be as it should be (either that or they had extras to begin with). The issue is really who made the call to ship bad product rather than delay to do it right, but that's hardly an uncommon business decision. If they wanted to make it right they could have ordered extras of both Makie and Konoka figures (Konoka for v5, Makie for the people who call), but giving away inventory is easier (again, hardly an uncommon business decision). Of course there could be a huge range of other circumstances we don't know about, so who knows... :sd: Moral of the story from my perspective is that they'll probably try harder to make sure this doesn't happen again; last thing they want is a reputation for poor quality control among the hardcore (most vocal) fans. Oh well...

Still waiting for my Vol 5 to arrive from RightStuf, but worried about getting the wrong figure.. Since I'm having problems locating vol 4 online and locally, might see if I can just purchase the Makie figure that was suppose to be in vol 4 (or Konoka for vol 5 if I get a mixed up copy)..

Konami made the Figumates and were just simply called "Figumate Negima". The Figumates we are getting in the LE are from sets 3 and 4 which are no longer being made :(

They are the same figures as you would get from Japan.
The figures themselves were relased as trading figures so you would not know which one you got till you open the package/box. Currently the latest is set #6

Actually, the latest Negima Figumate set is Negima!? series 1 (aka the figurine line for the SHAFT anime), although most of the figurines in this set are basically a re-color of some series 1 and 2 figurines with new arm parts (the only figurine that is noticeably different in this set is Nodoka). However, series 2 will probably be worth it for some Negima figurine collectors (although, unless the Pactio card that comes with it is one that interests me, I'm going to pass on that set due to fact that the Haruhi Suzumiya Figumates are going to come out the same month).

The Negima Figumate figures were sold in boxes of 10 (although you could buy them one at a time in many stores.

There were only 5 unique figures in the first set, but by set 6, there were 10 unique figures altogether. I think they decided to finish the class up and so added more unique figures for 5 & 6.

From a collector's standpoint, you could buy an unopened box of 10 and get all the regular characters, but starting with set 2, each set had 1 or 2 special figures that were randomly put into boxes. So you had to buy a lot of boxes blind if you wanted these special characters (or find a shop that had the figures available for sale in clear bags, but the secret/special characters usually had a premium price). On top of that, some figures were available elsewhere (like a Setsuna with wings that you had to buy a hobby magazine that included the figure). There were also some special sets made (such as the first set with the girls in swim suits and gym outfits instead of uniforms).

Just some of the special characters:

Eva in be black teddi (which amazingly is what Funimation got for their SE).
Eva in white teddi (I prefer the black teddi, myself)
Mana in a gun suit
Chiu the bunny girl
Young Negi

The base color does correspond to the volume/series the figures came from. The first set didn't have stands and had 'girly' arms that were spread out palm down (sets 2+ had hands that could grip).

The purple stands came with set 3 (which had the maid outfits for many of the figures), I believe. Pink was the hobby magazine figures.

Set 5 = Orange
Set 6 = Green

No, those are the right figures for the right volumes.

I lucked out and all my volumes came with the right figure. I don't know about other cities but the best buys in chicago seem to have quite a few LE's left. I have seen multiple vol's 2-5 at the best buys I frequent.

This is really annoying. Between the LE numbers and this, Funimation's being a bit of a letdown lately. I'm not sure it's worth tracking down LEs with this kind of problem going on.

If you purchased online, you can use something like CutePDF to create a PDF file of your online receipt. I'd send an email to that special email address to ping them. FUNi CS has been very good about responding to emails about Negima. Much better than my experience with PMs regarding Kiddy Grade cards. Most of my Kiddy Grade PMs, even the latest go-around, were never even read.

I sent them an e-mail and got no reply. A week later I sent another message. That one had a reply in 11 minutes. If I was trying to get a clear idea of Funi customer service based on my experience, I'm not sure which way it would go. Luckily, this is the only time I've ever had to deal with them. My only other Funi related problem (an original YYH box set with no actual DVDs in it, just the cases with slit plastic, stickers intact and the whole box shrink-wrapped) got dealt with by Rightstuf. One screwed up Negima LE vs. 130 other Funi disks with no major issues. Not a bad ratio really.

My Vols 5 and 6 arrived from Rightstuf Mackie in 5 and Cha Cha in 6. I already had Mackie from Vol 4 and I was really hoping for Nodoka in Vol 6. I hadn't seen anything about what figure was included when I ordered it. Funimations character selection really sucked. I had an extra Vol 4 (Family Video finally sent the correct one a couple months after I had given up on them and bought it at Best Buy. I went ahead and opened it tonight hoping it contained a Konoka but its a Mackie too :( My luck must really be bad to end up with 3 Mackies. I'll put the extra Vol 4 on ebay, I doubt opening the outer box will hurt the selling price, the buyer will atleast know what figure they're getting. Does anyone still have an extra Konoka?

I finally got around to putting Chachamaru together (from volume 6) and I don't have the purple base. I have the little thing for the feet, but not the actual base.

Has anybody else had that happen? It's not a big deal as she seems to stand pretty well on her own, but it's really disappointing to have yet another problem creep up with these LE's.....
