I'm thinking about getting Viva Pinata after the semester's over. I've heard great things about it, sleeper hit at least. I'm wondering does anyone have this game, if so can they describe what they've been doing in it, how it is to them. I like simulation games and know this is less pokemon and more the sims with weird animals.

Me too. I've been reading that this is more addictive than Animal Crossing and I'm kinda scared of that fact as I wouldn't have the time to get the most out of it.
From what I can tell, it's about growing a garden so that certain Pinatas come to visit. Then they can mate, die, get sick and so on.

I dont know about the game, but theres two free episodes of the cartoon on Xbox Live Marketplace. Its pretty funny, in a "I know its for kids but im still laughing" kind of way.

The most recent 1up show demonstrated the draw. One of the editors that earlier said he didn't even consider it a game worth playing was saddened that one of his pinatas died in a war between two rival pinata species. It was hilarious because another guy was just laughing that he was describing it like it was a soap opera.

I have this game and it is a lot of fun. If you are considering buying it, go ahead and take the plunge. You will not be disappointed.

I've played it for about 15 hours and am totally addicted.

A friend linked a couple of tutorial vids on my forums and I've decided I need to buy this game. Just not sure when I'll get around to it - since I haven't had access to the TV in couple of weeks I might as well wait to buy it! ^_^; (Maybe I'll find it on sale again before the hubby gets bored with his games heh.)

Not yet, but when I buy a 360, Viva Pinata will be THE first title I get.

I don't have it yet but I think it looks like a lot of fun and will definitely be picking it up when it drops in price. $60 is WAY to much for any video game.

It's $50 at EB, and $45.82 at Amazon.

Bought it yesterday and played it until midnight and it is rather interesting. I'm still learning what everything can do and how to do it right. I've successfully Bred the worms, flies, sparrows, but I have a few more species that I have yet to mate or even get a house for. my area was upgraded and I can dig ponds which is cool. I just need another snake (I forget the names that's why I'm using standard animal names.) in the garden, and another snail. I have them as residents but they are alone. I also found out that smashing a pinata just makes them spawn outside as a non-resident.

My name is indigo0086, and I inbreed pinatas.

The joy I feel as I watch a newly grown child romance with it's parent is beyond words.

I do that, and sell the parents for a profit :>

Fudgehogs are a tasty 1000 CC when you sell em, and aside from the first time you romance them you can use candys for a 988 CC profit :)

I can't stand fudgehogs, they keep coming in my garden eating my pinatas, not even becoming residents.

They need to eat 2 whirms and 1 thistle in order to become resident and they need 4 whirms or 2 thistles before they even poke there head into your garden :)

Also once you have a breeding pair of Pinatas no more wild ones of that breed will appear, thankfully.

cool, I'm trying to get rid of my whirlms since I don't need them for anything anymore. It's just hard to get new pinatas in the garden when you a) have ones fighting to the death in there already, b) have not enough room to put new houses.

It's hard managing space + pinatas.

They normally fight because of weeds, so make sure to keep them out of your garden.

I just found out you can start a new garden without penalty or starting over from the beginning. Now time to attract a doenut. I think one of the pinata was keeping him out because I had all the requirements.

I was wondering do you know of a way to send a pinata from one of my garden's to another?

Cool, I saw that one at the store and it'se one of the better ones. I personally want a Teamxbox Faceplate.

I also found out how to send a pinata from one garden to another. Basically pack them from your garden and send it to yourself, load up another garden and unpack them.

Also do you know how long some of the pinata are kept for challenges. Two of mine haven't come back after challenges right away like they used to.

Er, mine have always came back pretty quickly, but i read on the xbox forums that some pinatas take longer to get back than others. I bet Cluckles would be pretty damn slow at coming back for example.

Well, I just got this game today, and holy fuck is it awesome. This game seriously kicks all sorts of ass.

I don't think I'm very good at it though. I've only been playing for a couple of hours, but new things keep showing up and stuff is eating other stuff all over the place. I have no idea whats going on half the time. It's chaos, but I love it.

I think I need to start over, and maybe read up on some shit and exert a little tact next time around. As all hell has broken loose in the garden I have going now.

The thing is wait until you get a full garden and your level is in the 30s and you have max space, then make another garden and do what you will with that. Then make another, and another. I've gotten pinatas in that I couldn't with the other two because of constant conflicts and such. plus you can send items to and from each garden by sending a box to yourself. Also if you see the beggar give him like 1100 CC and you'll really love it.

Well I picked this up last week (or was it two now?).

Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with it though I'm not getting much 360 time lately >< I've set up four different gardens so far - 2 to attract pinatas and 2 to "hold" them. Necessary, since you have only have 36 pinatas in a garden (I think that's the number anyway).

I'm working on taming the Sours, got 4 done. I think only one or two more are visiting right now so I should be good for awhile. Love the Tower of Sour ^_^

Something that came in handy - you don't need do do multiple "romances" to get the Master Romancer title. Just get 7 of that particular species in one garden. I find that so much easier than running through those mazes several times!
