Is this in the December issue? I haven't read it yet, and it's at home.... ***edit*** never mind, noticed this is NewType Japan, still very awesome*** I generally like most of Bones work, so that was a nice surprise. Thank you kindly for the post. :)

They both look interesting by the pictures. Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on them.

Darker than Black should be worth watching judging by the staff involved.

No idea, we'll probably find out more in the coming months.

I would be surprised if Yoko kanno is scoring Kisdam - ENGAGE planet, due to having worked with Shoji Kawamori on other projects in the past.

Not a lot of information to whet the appetite so far. When they provide character sketches like that I wish they'd offer bigger ones, or some nice concept art.... something to get you excited.

And the talking cat is a major turn off.

The talking cat reminds me of the one from Sabrina the Teenage Witch(the live action one). The designs look decent, and it's Bones, so I'll give it a chance hehe. I won't write off a show before it airs, especially if it's from a storied studio.

Darker than BLACK

How much more black can you possibly get?

The answer is none. None more black.

If you're an A/V geek the term feels more familiar as blacker than black. :)

Aw. I happen to like talking cats. This one looks a bit sinister as well. Kitties need love too

Two MIX?!?!?! ... Delta?

I love Two Mix, going as far as picking up all of their albums. Ever since I was "grandfathered in" with Gundam Wing, I've really liked their music from White Reflection, Rhythm Generation, and so on. I'm psyched about this.

"Superpowered Spy Horror"?

Does this reek of desperation for creativity to anyone else?

Kissdum could be good, I will watch it for Shoji's new designs intially and see how it fares once the novetly of those has worn off.

Kiss Dum is apparently airing on April 5th. I took a look at the newly opened site and the character designs look nice. There seems to be more female characters (http://www.kissdum.com/chara.html) than male ones though. With that said I personally like "Kyouka Iburi" :virgin: . Although I'm not sure if "Shu Nanao" is a guy or a girl. The chest looks a little suspicious, but who knows.

Darker than BLACK trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gc0zSN_D34&NR)

I'm rather fond of Studio Bones, particularly with their work on Ouran, Scrapped Princess, and RahXephon, and the premise of the series sounds like it has potential, so I'll give this one a try when it airs.

I'm intrigued to here that Two Mix (Delta?) will be working on it since I liked their songs in Wing and a number of others I listened to that had no relation to Wing.

Is Kanno doing the music for Black? If so I'm watching it heh. As for Kiss Dum and Two Mix Delta, I assume that it's the same Two Mix from Gundam Wing and other albums. I'm a huge Two Mix fan with their CD's, so as soon as I saw a pretty good looking show with their music, I jumped on board. Black and Kiss Dum look really good from the production artwork and the trailers, so I'm going to be spoiled this season :P

The trailer makes the series look really noirish, but I guess a series with a title like "Darker than Black", that should have been obvious from the beginning.

I'm assuming that Two Mix Delta is partly the same one that did Gundam Wing. I'm guessing the Delta was added at some point to signify that they weren't quite the same anymore (probably lost and added a member or three).

Two Mix was(or I hope still is) two people. You have Minami Takayama who does the vocals and composes and Shiina Nagano who plays the keyboard and has duties as the lyricist. Minami is an accomplished voice actress so I guess something could of happened. As far as I know it's the same two people but with a different name maybe signifying a new album. They've been around for 12 years or so I hope they didn't break up.

From checking the Japanese wiki of the group it looks like "Delta" is a anniversary project of sorts and that they're collaborating with someone. CDJapan says that it's basically them coming back after being dormant for a few years. So it looks like that there is no need to worry as this is the same Two Mix that we've been listening to since 95 and Gundam Wing

:)

Dang, that actually does look good.
As if there weren't enough new anime to check out...best new season in years.
Doesn't quite manage to remove the whiff of generic from the concept, but the range of designs and the quality of the fight scenes look a little more ambitious.
Hoping it doesn't turn out like Cowboy Bebop, where everything was so well done that I really wanted to like it, but the horrid, predictable plots really soured the experience. (Apparently I'm the only one who noticed...)

Do you happen to know anything about Two Mix's new name Andrew? I only ask because you seem to be up to date on these sort of things. Black looks pretty good but I can see how it could fall into a predictable "monster/thing of the week" show. Still though it looks like it has high production values so I'm going to check it out. The song used in the trailer really reminded me of Bebop though. Kanno must like using Jazz when it comes to cityscapes.

That's probably why I ended up on the random tangent, yes.

I pretty much only pay attention to music I like, which basically all involves real instruments. Two Mix amused me for a while eight years ago, but I lost interest quickly and haven't kept up.

Ah. I really haven't heard anything from Two Mix since 1999 or 2000. I was made a fan of them from Wing and kind of swept them under the rug until now. Still though it's good to have them back. As for Kanno I hope she brings her usual stable of vocalists for Black. Shes spoiled me with Origa, Steve Conte and others

I burned out on her a while back as well, but the ending to Gits:sac 1 is really good. Wish she'd do more straightforward rock like that.

Wow. This reads exactly like my experiences with them.

I jumped on the Two-Mix flying bandwagon, during the mid to late-90s, during my Gundam Wing Fascination™ period. Well, more like the fascination with its music (Kou Otani!). I still have three Two-Mix CDs I bought from Kinokuniya that I haven't spun in...oh, NINE YEARS! That's how much "out of love" I am with Two-Mix.

Was browsing ANS and found this to be very, very interesting regarding Kiss Dum:

3-13-07 (1:19AM EDT)---- Kissdum: Engage Planet - Production Dry Run Before Macross?
It's looking as if animation studio Satelight's Kissdum: Engage Planet TV anime coming up for an April debut in Japan will test out alot of the key production concepts that will go into their future Macross revival project. Macross mechanical designer Shouji Kawamori has comeup with several new Macross like fighter planes for the series. Satelight will be taking those and transitioning them into 3DCG models for the work. Writers and character designers will likewise be busy supplying content for a story involving pilots, support personel, lots of young pretty girls and love triangles. Look for alot of the staff to transition over to the Macross from this one with their hard earned production experience on a very similarly themed show.

I should really make a Kissdum thread, but oh well..

The main page has been updated to include the opening (http://www.kissdum.com/index2.html) by Two Mix Delta. I like the song(well I'm a Two Mix fan) but I wish we'd get a trailer.

There's one linked on the Kissdum website; for the Japanese impaired, it's the link towards the bottom of the page by the 07.03.24 number (then click the "click to play" button on the right). Alternatively, someone filmed it at TAF and it's thus on Youtube.

Satelight's got this and Kami-chama Karin airing in April; hopefully Karin will have better animation than their last shoujo effort, the two Angeliques.

Ah, just found it on Youtube, thanks Blu. The trailer looks nice and interesting. The theme reminds me a lot of "White Reflection" though. The only thing that I'm worried about is how the 3D mecha will "blend in". Still I'm really looking forward to this show.

Darker than Black looks pretty good.
The first episode didn't completely sell me, but it does feel more adult, and the production values have me coming back next week.

Kanno was doing the music but I wasn't impressed. It was only one episode but I'm really hoping that she brings her A game for DTB. Although it seems to be a common theme this season in that a shows music is really average or not even used for most of the episode.
