To be frank, it looks pretty fun. I'd love to play it, but I'm a bit confuzzled about how to play import games on PS2 without having to resort to a mod chip. I got my PS2 when it was first coming out, it's the big fat one. What kind of boot disk would I need for it?

The game is awful. Seriously, it plays even worse than the PSP games. I'd only recommend it for ZHiME uber-fans who find the cost of the LE version worth it for the posters.

I kinda do want it regardless. Setting that aside, what kind of boot disk would I need for it? And I am an uber My-Otome fan ^^

Swap Magic (http://www.swapmagic3.com/) is your friend.

HD Loader. Google it. A friend of mind in town swears by it.

Now, with Swap Magic do I need any other applications or is just the latest release good enough by itself to play import games?

HD Loader is a mod chip. Do I need any to do anything for my system with it?

You'll need the slide card too which comes with the swap magic disks. Take the front panel (where the PS logo is) off the front of your PS2, boot up swap magic, insert slide card, pull put tray, insert import, close tray with slide card and press X.

HDLoader is NOT a mod chip. It's a program you put on your memory card. Since you have a fat PS2, you can put a 120Gig hard drive in it and put your games on that. Although it doesn't work for PSOne games. I guess you checked the first link that showed up. Anyways...

Do the slide cards come with the swap disk? And front panel? Will that damage the system?

Yeah, it comes with the disks. No damage to the console (the front panel clicks back in place).
Using the slide card will probably eventually do damage to the disk drive over time if you aren't gentle/slow with it, but I've had mine for a few years with absolutely no problems and 95% of the PS2 games I play are imports (in other words, I use it a lot).

Disk drive? As in Hard Disk Drive? Well....how much will this cost, and which version should I get?

No, disk drive as in the motor that opens/closes the disk tray.
It cost me about £10 from eBay. I think version 3.6 is the latest one.

I'd seriously recommend skipping the Otome game. Seriously. Its unplayable.

Melty Blood pwns, though.
