In Summary:
Coyote Ragtime Show has an interesting title that's surely going to get discussion just from there but inside is a fun little pirate show with a standard but interesting cast of characters. With it being more of an ensemble show and one with a seemingly single plot to carry it through the twelve episode run, it looks to be a bit more defined in what it wants to do and won't have quite so many sidetracking stories. It's filled with big action moments, plenty of complexly designed heists that are improbably for anyone to actually implement and a number of attractive if somewhat empty character designs. The first four episodes do a solid job of laying out what the show wants to be and it does it very well. Though the characters may be a bit shallow overall, due to the number of them and the length of the series, they're a fun bunch to watch and I'm curious to see how well the entire gig plays out. With it taking place in the span of a week or so and there being a definite timeline for them to operate under, it has a quick pace and is quite fun to watch.

Good review. I'm told this show starts off with a bang, but then quiets down to almost a whisper of an ending. I'll probably give it a shot though just based on that first episode. What a finale!

The opening of this page I thought really covered how I thought they came up with the title of this show: http://www.therossman.com/rrr/anime/coyote_ragtime.html

How else do you explain "Coyote Ragtime Show"?

The only thing I find disappointing is that there's not enough of the Goth Loli Killer Android Squad (copyright Fencedude) and UFOtable should make a second series featuring them.... Heck it worked with Futakoi. :P

Aside from that, I agree with the review overall, and just enjoy the ride.

The best way to describe this show and Mister in general is FUN. More character development would have been nice but I'll live without it.
In answer to the poll, no, because I'll be buying it.

Sounds like something that ppl that enjoyed Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star would enjoy. ;)

About the poll, I'll see it when ADV puts in on a Newtype USA preview disc, Dial Up is so sad for streaming content, so my answer is No

Looks great, I really don't care what the others are saying about it. Its fun, I'm tired of all this recent cerebral nonsense, my brain needs a break and it looks like CRS is the perfect solution.

I will definitely be getting this

I'd push it more over to the Outlaw Star side of the equation. Still though, a fun little guilty pleasure.

There's much better mindless action shows.

Like Black Lagoon.

Which isn't out here in R1 land just yet (though it's listed with Geneon having the license at least).

I've heard nothing but bad about the show, and judging by how hard ADV is pushing it, I'm inclined to believe that. They never put this kind of marketing into shows that are actually good. I might give it a try if I can find a free download, just because I like the character designs, but it doesn't seem worth spending any actual money on based on word of mouth.

As for the poll - nope, I'm not going to be sampling it that way. Why? It's English only. Now if it had been a subtitled version, I would have tried it out.

Yeah, I really wish companies offering previews of this nature would provide proper samples for fans of both languages. A free preview of the dubbed version does nothing for me, and in no way gives me an accurate idea about whether I would actually want to buy a show. It's certainly nice for dub fans who get to check out shows and their dubs for free, but it is a shame that one segment of the fandom is continually neglected. But who knows, maybe there's extra licensing hoops to jump through and they just expect that sub fans will just download fansubs instead, making it not worth the effort. :shrugs:

Yes, of course I'll take advantage of the free episode. Turning down a legit freebie may be fine for some, but it's certainly not my perogative.

I consider it unfortunate but understandable with a web-based promo like this. Where dub-only really makes no sense is on sampler DVDs. Newtype discs often have no subbed version (at least for non-ADV shows), and I have a Media Blasters sampler disc containing a bunch of trailers and two full preview episodes, both dub-only. When companies do this, it means I have a fun new frisbee, because I simply won't watch -- and they've lost the opportunity to sell me on a show because of what seems a totally unnecessary omission.

Didn't work all that much better with my 3 Mbs DSL connection either. Saw three minutes, then had to wait two minutes for the buffer to catch up. And to top it off, it crashed Internet Explorer after only the first ten minutes so I never got to see the sisters or Mister.

As a result, I'm damned if I know, if it's good or bad. IGN is a lousy way to promo it!

It's a fun show.

Now, you've heard something good about it

Watched this between yesterday and today (Getting the entire series + Tin for $22 :) + tax :( was great). A fun Sci-Fi adventure with great character interaction and action sequences, recommended. :)

And the Goth Loli Killer Android Squad was fun too. :notworthy:

Lol, for a second there, I thought I'd gone through a time warp to last year.

Anyway, I wouldn't watch this show for free, personally.

I did say a few post above that it seemed like something that a fan of Cowboy Bebop and/or Outlaw Star would enjoy. I did like both of those series, so it's all gravy to me. ;)

That's a nice price there. I'll probably pick it up when it comes out as a thinpak or if I can find it for that cheap. :)

I smell spinoff potential.

But I won't hold my breath for it happening.

I want a Sisters Vs. Numbers battle royale OVA

(the Numbers would win, but it'd be awesome anyway)
