This would be a Memory Lane / "Promote a good series" thread. It's been awhile since I've seen Patlabor, and I was just curious what everyone's favorite episodes are. I've probably forgotten a ton of good ones, but the ones that still stand out are:

* The one where the whale showed up in Tokyo Harbor.
* "The Destruction of Special Vehicles Unit Section 2"
* The one where Goto and Nagumo were caught out in a typhoon.
* The whole Gryphon arc.

My favorites:

1. SV2's Longest Day Part 1 (original OAVs)
2. Rondo in the Snow (P-Series OAVs)
3. Trap of Christmas Eve (TV series)
4. Shudder of Christmas Eve (TV series)
5. This is SV2 (TV series)

Some of the names I wrote above might not be consistent with what CPM used. I'm just translating loosely from the R2 discs I have.

My all time favorite episode has to be the one where they are looking for a suspect in a bath-house, from the New Files OVA set.

Completely pointless but very funny.

My favorites are:

Episode 14, "You Win", in which the SV2 gets drunk episode spoiler
and where we learn that Noa has incredible tolerance for alcohol for her size.

Episode 37, "Safety on Sales", in which the SV2 do their best to impress an insurance company rep. This episode made me laugh harder than any other in the series.

Yes, that's the one that came to mind first for this.

And there are a number more, but I can't remember them all right now. Need to marathon this series again.

Hmm. I haven't seen the entire series, and not any of it in a long while, but there was one where they all went on a retreat somewhere. It was a somewhat humorous episode, but I forget the title.

Teh Destruction of SVU2 it tops for me. Which is odd because it does not feature Kanuka, who is pretty much essential for me in Patlabor. But...that was too funny for some reason.

The alligator episode was pretty good too.

In the end though, while the plot arcs and episodes were very good, the memorable ones to me were almost always filler episodes. Full of comedy, light, and fluffy, those always made me just smile and be happy.

I liked the Gryphon arc too along with it's resolution in New Files. If I had to pick a single episode it would be "A Voice" (TV series, episode 27) in which the SV2 does some training in an abandoned mansion that turns out to be haunted. We also get to see a new side to the normally level-headed Takeo Kumagami which was priceless IMO.

That was one I was about to mention too.I also like the Destruction of SV2 episode, and the episodes where you get under the skin of various characters, Like Ota's afternoon, and Our Karuizawa. The ending episode in the New Files, All Quiet at the SVs is very, very well done.

Been a while since I saw it but I remember an episode where an Ultraman labor took on the Griffon and lost. Cracked up everybody who was at that anime meet.

I liked that episode...especially since the crew is talented enough to be able to throw the censor dots around.
