A FFVII remake on the Wii would be stupid. It's a menu-based RPG. Having the Wiimote would add literally... nothing to the game. The PS3 would... well, you all saw the tech demo.
Whoever said they have to use the Wii Remote? Nintendo didn't. And anyway, what's the Classic Controller for but to play classic games? Or, for that matter, the Wavebird? All I'm saying is, I wouldn't mind if they did make it for Wii instead of PS3.

Heh, I was forgetting about God of War's US release date. Hevenly Sword hasn't been confirmed for anything, though: ebgames has it down as June, for instance.

"New job: Dark Knight, New character: Bathier from FF12. Not just a guest character, follows Ramza in the story."
Dangit all, now this is really tempting me to get a PSP just so I can try this. FFT is one of my all-time favorites.
The talk of the FFI+II remakes bugs me a bit, though. Will Square Enix finally show some love to the Seiken Densetsu games, particularly the SNES ones, some of the best games ever? :(

I get the feeling that the performance of the recent rash of Mana games (released or announced) will influence this quite a bit. If they sell, Square'll take a more serious look at the Seiken Densetsu games from back in the day.
I still haven't got 'round to picking up Children of Mana. Just hasn't been a priority, with FF5 in the GBm and FF6 close on the horizon, plus having to save up for a PSP now that it's getting one of the awesomest games of the past 10 years.

Honestly I can't say, but somehow I don't think they'd announce remakes of Secret of Mana and ______ of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 3) as part of a way to celebrate the anniversary of Final Fantasy. :D In any case I need to double check something here.
Ah okay so 06/08/91 as the release date for the first game in Japan. That means Mana's 15th anniversary was last year. Wait maybe that explains the surge of new Mana games like Children, Dawn, etc. Also yeah there is the point that Mana was born from FF with the first game being called Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden.

I'll be holding my breath.... It seems to me that Squeenix pretty much WANTED to make bad mana games one after another just to piss off the mana fans. There really hasn't been a good mana game since the first SNES one..... the one before that being Final Fantasy Adventure aka Seiken Densetsu 1.

Indeed. I love SD3. It is stronger in gameplay than Secret of Mana in my opinion. Bosses in SoM became a joke when you know how to rapid-fire spells over and over again. Weapon and spell levelling tended to be a bit tedious for me too.

I really hope that Square's not just focusing on releasing stuff in time for a game's anniversary... I just want to see Square's good games getting rereleased... we've seen enough of Final Fantasy I and II and we definitely don't need Square attempting to make new IP's since... well, they've failed utterly in this last gen.

In terms of Seiken Densetsu 3, I've really only played as Angela. I still need to play through Carlie and Reisz. Actually due to certain reasons I also have to replay Angela. I can say this much. SD3 seemed a lot harder than Secret of Mana.
Also to be honest I actually enjoy some of the later Mana games. Although I will admit I'm having a lot of trouble getting into Sword of Mana compared to past Mana games. However I found Legend of Mana to be rather nice although it did have it share of flaws. Children of Mana is kind of fun in that pick up and play short bursts way.
Finally some are going to hate me for saying this, but I'm going to have to say it. Now look I love Secret of Mana. It was an enjoyable game for its time. The tune for the second to last boss who I consider the main boss was wicked cool. Yes interestingly enough the final boss and the main boss of a game can in fact be different from each other. They're not always the same person.
However I've had it with one thing. Which is what I see as the blatant "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah it's not a clone of Secret of Mana" cries in the video game world. I'm not saying you've done it EB, but I've seen enough of it at places like GameFAQs that I've just about had it over the years.
I'd welcome a remake/port of Secret of Mana it's long over due. Even more so for Seiken Densetsu 3 so it can finally be released here. As well as gain its ______ of Mana game. However in general the Mana fanbase needs to move on.

I'd love to see that on the box.
Dear God, I want that to happen. Not that I have a fondness for the game..but..

If FF7 gets remade on Xbox 360 the reaction will depend on the person. Some FF7 fans will already own a 360 anyway. Some will be motivated to buy a 360 because of it. Then there will be some that will obviously throw a fit about it. Then again at GameFAQs I've seen some gripe in general about certain games being for the 360 in the past. Oh yeah speaking of the whole Final Fantasy Anniversary thing according to this article (http://psp.ign.com/articles/755/755976p1.html) from IGN the PSP versions of FF1 and FF2 are not the end of it. I'll quote the important part for people.
Disappointed that Square Enix's big Final Fantasy 20 year bash resulted in a couple of PSP updates? It turns out that this is just the first of what could be numerous projects. In an interview with Famitsu, Square Enix executive producer Shinji Hashimoto told readers to turn back beyond April for more surprises.
Now granted it could just turn out to be nothing more than "We're making PSP ports of other Final Fantasy games as well", but at least this means that there is hope. Hope for a more special celebration of the series. Because FF deserves better.

Yeah, but you're asking a company to bet a couple billion yen on putting out that one game that sells the systems. It's a safer bet to spend the money on a sure thing. Sony's sold twice the consoles in well under half the time, and Nintendo twice as many as Sony. I bet Wada-san's very aware of that.

This was announced a while back, but since Kotaku have done a feature on it, it's a nice place to link to.
Anyway, the DS is getting it's own figure skating game (http://kotaku.com/gaming/ds/hooray-a-ds-figure-skating-game-229169.php) (which ominously enough is released on my birthday...).
So, who else is gonna be all over this once it's released?
With all the talk of the SE anniversary announcement and the remake on PSP, the real news item of importance got buried :p
I'm seriously considering the figure skating game, but I've been bitten by a few low-budget US games lately (I'm ashamed to admit which ones, they were novelty games from Ubisoft which erased my saves twice each, plus I just lost my Harvest Moon DS save >_<;). This one kind of reminds me of those ones in appearance and sorta content. On the other hand, when am I ever going to get a figure skating game again?
And I'll be laughing until the next Final Fantasy announcement from SE. I don't have a PSP, but people already played those games two or so years ago on GBA. I would love to see a Chrono-themed announcement, because as well as FFVII would do, there has been far too much FF lately.

Yeah but look at Blue Dragon. Obviously it's nowhere near as big as FFVII but it has been the most successful 360 game in Japan so far and it performed mediocre at best. Plus, reports from Japan have been that stores there are seeing a lot of returns of the 360 + Blue Dragon bundle so people have been buying the 360, yes, but returning it once Blue Dragon was finished.

developers need not worry about console sales, that's a fanboy's job. They can distribute a game in any country regardless of poor sales of their own. While some developers see the gaming world to be larger than just Japan or just UK or just US, developers who decide to stick to one console will be financially left in the dust. They won't last more than another generation.

Okay now that sounds really sad. I have a feeling we'll see other 360 titles such as Trusty Bell get the same err treatment. Although it's going to be funny if the same people who bought a 360 just for one game to return the whole will end up doing is multiple times. Naaaaaaaaaaah.
Also I wonder if in the case of some games the Japanese company will be hoping for the game to do well in America as opposed to Japan. Since the user base for the Xbox 360 is much larger in the U.S. Perhaps titles such as Blue Dragon will be hoping that a good portion of those 360 fans like Japanese style RPGs. Or at least in the style that Blue Dragon is. Same for say Trusty Bell which is coming out here as Eternal Sonota. Granted this may be a whacked theory, but ah well.

Well Blue Dragon is one of the game that was developed primarily for the Japanese market and it hasn't done very well.
It's kinda funny to see MS's desperation in Japan. First we got Senko no Ronde which only the most hardcore shmup fans would have bought a 360 for, then Blue Dragon which did average but was a breakaway hit in terms of Japanese sales of other 360 games, then recently they've been pushing the 360 as a "mature" console with Cero Z (The US equivalent would be M and the UK 15/18) rated games such as Oneechanbara Vortex, Dead Rising and Gears of War and now we have iDOLM@STER, a successful arcade game, released next week.
At the end of the day, Japan just isn't going to care about Microsoft for the simple fact that they are a US company and the games aren't there. It's admirable that MS are at least trying (as it's seeing a load of great Japanese exclusive/Japanese developed games being released) but they're never going to get the market share of Sony and Nintendo.
Which is why the whole notion of console wars and who is the "winner" is really irrelevant this generation. You could say Nintendo have "won" in Japan looking a phenomenal DS sales and strong Wii sales, you could say that Sony are winning as they have/will get the games the Japanese care about, or you could say MS have won in a way as the 360 is already much more popular than the Xbox ever was in Japan.

Wow, that's actually a lot better than I was expecting. There's clearly no doubt as to which version of FF I and II will be the definitive one once this is out.

That's a negative, Hondo. The developer in question played the console-exclusive game for three generations in particular (NES, SNES, PSX) and came out of it just fine. And my argument was, Square's biggest market isn't the States, it's Japan. They do what's best for Enix Square Japan before they worry about Square Enix USA. Putting an huge title exclusively on Xbox 360 is not what's best for Enix Square Japan — but doing it for either PS3 or Wii will work out for them just fine.
That's the whole difference between the way things work in Japan and how they go in the States. Sure, we're basically platform-agnostic over here. Japan's a different story.

All I'm saying is, I wouldn't mind if they did make it for Wii instead of PS3.
As much as I love the Wii, I have to say that I'd mind considerably. Beyond the new controls introduced by the Wii, there isn't much that the Wii could bring to an update for FFVII. Would it be better graphicly than the PS1 original? Yes. But it would still be lagging behind the times graphicly, because that's not what the Wii is there for. For a FFVII rerelease, I basicly want it to play the same way it used to, and have the most modern shiniest graphics that can be placed on my TV screen.
Discounting VC games, I don't really care to play any non-Nintendo game on the Wii that does not adequately and creatively make use of the contollers. For anything else I'd much rather play it on 360 or PS3.

There is an improvement in the graphics but I'm going to subscribe to the "who cares" camp. We've had too many remakes of FFI&II. If Square Enix wants to remake a game pick something else. I know a lot of people here are talking about an FFVII remake. Sure, I'd probably be very tempted to pick that up. But even better? A Chrono Trigger remake. :)

But even better? A Chrono Trigger remake. :)
Although I did burn myself out on the game it would be interesting to see. In my case I'd desire a remake of one of Square-Enix's games that failed to come out here. As a remake would be a second chance for the game to be released in some form.
Thus why out of all the choices mentioned so far, I think Seiken Densetsu 3 err ______ of Mana would be the most appealing. No screw that I want Romancing SaGa 3. I want Tatyana Lasaiev in English with voice now or else I'll continue to hold Chocobos hostage.

While I can't argue with either of these (though I wonder what RSG2 did to make Yuzu want to skip it), I'd like to see more of the Front Mission games make the jump to modern hardware. I enjoyed Front Mission 3, even though its graphics were way too advanced for the Playstation and, therefore, caused frame rates to drop into the teens or less. I played it on CVGS before Sony bought and killed it, and the increased power of the Mac G3 helped keep it going smoothly and look pretty sharp in so doing.
Still, I want Final Fantasy VII-2 more than any of those. Small problem: It doesn't exist.

(though I wonder what RSG2 did to make Yuzu want to skip it)
It's not that I'm skipping the title. It's more that I'm giving Romancing SaGa 3 higher priority. After all I was mentioning a single title as opposed to making a full list. A larger list would include Romancing SaGa 2. It would also include other titles as well.
As for why the priority? Well I haven't really played RS2 that much. I'm still waiting for certain things to happen. Where as I have played RS3 quite a bit. Also RS3 has Tatyana Lasaiev who happens to be one of my favorite girls in the SaGa series. To the point I don't play the pure evil Mikhail quest since you can't have her in the party. Thus of course I'm giving RS3 priority. It is my destiny.

I'll believe it when I actually see it on a shelf, but THQ are saying "honest, really" and have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. pegged for a March 22 release (March 23 in Europe).
In case you've forgotten the game's premise (and who can blame you), you play some guy who runs around Chernobyl fighting mutants, bad guys and weird environmental effects. It looked awesome back in 2004, but while the setting still sounds interesting, as do the claims of a "living world", I can't help but feel the developers bit off more than they could chew and that this thing's going to disappoint.

While it's great the graphics are being improved on, in a way, I kind of wish Nintendo would still reelase it for the GC as well for those that were looking forward to it instead of only announcing it just for an excuse for the system to get some attention at E3 '06 (probably). :P
Here's something else (http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=25327953&part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6164529) you might want for your Wii: Yet another beefed-up strap! Now, I've been taking batting practice for close to a month and have yet to even have the Wii Remote slip in my hands; what the fuck are people doing that's breaking the straps?

They let go of the remote? I don't know. My first generation straps are still fine. However, I do have 4 2nd generation straps, 2 of which I'm using on my Wiimotes, just for the hell of it.
I need to figure out a use for my old straps. My DS Lite has the strap from my original DS on it. I'm thinking about doing something completely nerdy like attaching my keychain with my work keys to one of the straps.

I erred in including my old DS strap when I traded it in toward buying the DS Lite, but I still have my Mario Kart strap! It's utterly useless for DS play, but it's awesome enough that I had to hold on to it. And I think that's fair, seeing as how Nintendo only gave me a paper sleeve for the Mario Kart DS card and booklet. It would have cost them like $2 extra to put it in a keepcase!

Where'd you hear about MK64 being next week? It's coming to Japan next Tuesday but I don't think it will be on the US VC for a few weeks after that...

It's in the press release, which is from NOA so I assume they are talking about US.
Also, next week will see the addition of an all-time favorite, Mario Kart 64.

One title that is missing from that list is Mario Party 8, which seems to have been delayed (http://gonintendo.com/?p=12113) to "Q2".

Hmm. N64 games cost 1000 Wii points. I have 1000 Wii points. LET'SA GOOOOOO!!!

Strange, seems NoA are giving release dates now, unless it's just because this is such a high profile release.
The NoJ VC page is updated on Sunday/Monday to reveal what is coming to the VC that Tuesday, plus there's a message on the VC frontpage whereas NoA and NoE just leave you guessing until the games are actually released.

The only really interesting thing in the launch line up (ignoring stuff already/nearly out in the US/Japan) is flOw, I guess, since that's had its release date shuffled around quite a bit.

Enter the next in the range of why-didn't-I-think-of-that-before DS games - Kokorogauruou Mirei Aquarium DS which is an "aquarium simulator" where you have to clean your tank and feed your fish.
There are 2 versions - typical (regular fish) and exotic (more, well, exotic stuff like penguins and whales. You can also trade fish with others with the game.
Does it go without saying that yes, chances are fairly high I'll be buying this? :nervous: (watches as Chacrana and ADC groan as once again I am suckered by the weird DS games :D )

I'm past groaning. I'm firmly into the "head shaking" territory now. My limit for bizarre concepts is the stock market genre... which actually looks pretty cool.
Johnny, you just go have fun with your Fishémon. Be careful, though: If any of them develop lightning powers … well, then you'll really need to clean that tank!

Count me in on getting that aquarium sim game if it gets released over here. I actually think it could do pretty well if it was marketed as part of the Touch Generations lineup as it looks very nice and doesn't require as much work as Nintendogs for example.

While I'm still disgusted by Johnny's intention to buy that aquarium sim, I am happy about the DS Lite. Not only are the screens much, much brighter, but the color in the games themselves is infinitely better. It's ridiculous how big of a difference this makes. I'm also like 10 hours into Final Fantasy V Advance now... still a great game. I'm also really surprised by how much story there is after being told "there's not much story." Sure, it's not going to steal the title of best story from something like FFX or FFVIII, but it's definitely sufficient to keep you interested.

Agreed. I was convinced that it would be a good idea to buy a DS Lite so was one of the people that actually got to a store early on DS Lite launch day to buy one (like it mattered - no one else was there). It has made a HUGE difference. As compared to my original DS, I play games at least three times more on it because games look better and are easier to see.
It's also far less of a strain on the eyes so I can play longer. With the original DS I'd play maybe an hour a day at most because the strain would be too much. Now I can play for hours and hours, though I still take a break every 30 minutes to an hour so I won't kill my vision more than I have from gaming over the years. It really sucks that my vision has degraded just from eye strain. :sigh:

I've got a good number of RPGs to play through on the GBA and the DS so yeah, I'm definitely going to be getting my money's worth from this system. And I realized that I've played maybe 5 hours of FFV today after getting the DS Lite... it's so clear and easy to see that I can't help but play it.
The truly incredible thing about the DS Lite is how quickly it sells though. There were literally 4 DS Lites that sold within 5 minutes at the store I went to (one of those four was mine.) It was really weird... anyway, glad I've got it since this is easily the best portable gaming hardware I've ever seen.

Yay for Cha! Yes, the DS Lite screens are awesome and very easy on the eyes. (Where are the DS ero-games, already?) On the other hand, yikes on the 'best story' bit. I'd put 6, 7, T, and 9 above either of those. 4, too, probably. Maybe X-2 as well.

We already established several times that you're wrong though :P
Point is though that 5's story isn't really all that bad at all. And I'm enjoying the hell out of the gameplay.

And I'm glad of it. Even a geriatric moron confused 99-year-old should be able to find goodness in FF5.
Am I the only one that likes Nintendo having a wide variety of games? I can see how one might raise an eyebrow with this latest game, but obviously it's working. While FPS's, RPG's, and even RTS is fun most of the time, now and then it's nice to have a game like the aquarium or stock market game to do something else. Obviously Nintendo has seemed to of struck a nerve when it comes to quirky games.

18. Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3, Sega)
19. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, Nintendo)

So, as much as they've been complaining about it, seems those crazy Japanese can't resist the pull of DQ even if it is a departure from the norm (I expect to be in the same position once it gets closer to release) :D
Lost Odyssey seems to be the next big thing for Japanese 360 owners and I reckon it could do even better than Blue Dragon.
And lookie, there's VF5 creeping up the charts as the release date gets closer and closer...

Yeah, it's a couple weeks old mind, but there was quite a big advertising push over there recently for the game.
It's not a stereotypical "Japanese" game but that's not to say it doesn't have its niche there. Besides, this is Famitsu which is generally targetted towards a more hardcore audience who are likely to be more accepting of Western games (the same way cult Japanese games have a US/Europe niche market).

Maybe so, but when I look at the gap between the two Dragon Quests in the list it does make me wonder. I guess there are various theories one could make up regarding why IX is so much more desirable than Swords. Not that I can say either way myself, but still it is noticeable to me for some reason.

It might have something to do with the whole 'NDS' thing. Rumor has it that Mr Wada has a key to the Japanese mint which he received in exchange for providing the Imperial Family and Prime Minster with Final Fantasy III Edition DS Lites.

Some shmup news, good and bad, for those who haven't heard. Firstly, the bad news - the PS2 version of Cave shooter Ketsui has been cancelled due to technical issues. Apparently the games 5th stage "demands more RAM than is available on the PS2's hardware".
Pity really as the game was looking pretty great (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=K&game_id=12723). Dreamcast port time?
Also, in some good Cave related news, their new shooter has been revealed as Muchi Muchi Pork! Haven't seen any pics or vids of this yet.

According to Go Nintendo (http://gonintendo.com/?p=12443) the patent for Makai Toushi SaGa has been renewed. What this will lead to is anyone's guess. Port, Remake, or just a simple case of Square Enix wanting to keep the patent? All I can say is this.
If they're going to remake the game and just givie it mostly a new paint job then they should also include the other two GB SaGas along with it as package deal. It would have a lot more impact that way.
I guess there are a lot of changes I'd want. Change the battle perspective so I can see the party actually do stuff in battle. Have it so the races are actually better balanced in the first game. Make it so if I have four characters of the same race and sex they can look different. Even different hair color would be fine. In fact they should also introduce mechs to the first game. It can't be that much of a stretch given that some of the enemies are machines and such.
Hmm still hopefully they won't become port/remake happy with the first SaGa the way they are with the first FF. While I'd like to see a new version of the first SaGa, I'm more interested in a new version of Romancing SaGa 2 and Romancing SaGa 3. Or heck a new SaGa in general.

I would like to have a collection of the three SaGas from back in the day just as much as you, and I wouldn't mind a GBA-FF1,2 kind of remaster if that were the way it had to be. I do think that Square wouldn't go to the trouble of renewing the (patent? I'd thought it would be the copyright. Strange …) unless they actually meant to do something with it. I doubt anybody else means to rip them off of a few 15-plus-year-old games. It's not as if it's Chrono Trigger, after all (which did have two different 3D port projects by fans, both of which were shut down by Square's legal team).
Only thing is, I can't find sales data to determine it either way, but do the SaGas sell well enough to warrant brand new ports/remasters of all of them? When I went to Gamestop and purchased Romancing SaGa, I asked for it at the counter and the girl's like, "Really?" I don't think they'd sold one unit. I bet the only chance that the first three games have of success, even in a collection, is to retain the "Final Fantasy Legend" brand as part of the title — say, Origins of SaGa: The Final Fantasy Legends. Yes, it's cheesy; yes, it's not exactly accurate; but also yes, FF sells.
And where are my Dragon Quests I–VI? Grr! Square Enix needs to get on the ball here. DS-ify them, PSP-ify them, do whatever needs to be done, but let's have a little DQ solidarity!

SaGa is one of those series that do better in Japan that does in the U.S. So the possibility of SaGa remakes are there. Assuming Square Enix is taking a break from forcing companies to create new systems just because there isn't enough systems to port FF1 and FF2 too. :P
However whether or not it will come to the U.S. is a different matter. Sadly I think the only SaGa would do well here if they betrayed the series. I can see it now. All characters will have 99LP. Enemies will apologize if they damage you. You will be dropped exactly where you need to be. I could go on, but you get the idea.
Still I'd imagine a higher chance of Dragon Quest remakes/ports since that series is more popular in Japan than SaGa or even FF. Then again maybe DQ is so popular remakes would be considered heresy because the first versions are beyond perfect to fandom. :D Sorry, I'm just being silly.

In other news, Nintendo, in an effort to retain its vise-like grip on the handhelds market, announced the Nintendo SiiD to replace the DS, including widescreen LCDs, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR for Wii connectivity; to ship in Red Mage Red, White Mage White, Blue Mage Blue, and Black Mage Black. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime announced the new handheld to great fanfare, but the applause abated somewhat when he announced that the first launch title would be Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls. One fan had to be restrained, however, after trying to twirl a large foam sword, but he could not be stopped from spinning around and throwing his hands in the air like he just didn't care.

Video and info here (http://www.siliconera.com/index.php/2007/01/26/watch-its-an-aquarium-in-your-ds/)
Man, I love the DS. What are the odds of this coming out here as Fishez? I'll probably import it anyway, because this is just way too awesome.

Wow, you'd think they'd have figured out they couldn't do it before now. I was in Japan when Ketsui hit the arcades, so that must have been late 2002/early 2003.

And where are my Dragon Quests I–VI? Grr! Square Enix needs to get on the ball here. DS-ify them, PSP-ify them, do whatever needs to be done, but let's have a little DQ solidarity!
Amen to that. Forget Final Fantasy getting all the love, gimme Dragon Quest I-VII remastered and on DS/PSP/PS3.

PS2. There's a fucking gorgeous boxset with the game and soundtracks etc but it's like £80.
I did spend more than that on the iMAS LE but considering I already own and have played to death Outrun 2006 on PS2 already, I held off on this one.

I kinda sorta see the Wii as an impluse buy right now though. I mean, there's Zelda, Trauma Center, and a game that lets you wag around a remote like you're a superstar. Cute novelty. But then you look at the release calendar... Super Paper Mario in April... maybe something in the Summer, but probably not. It's honestly not a smart purchase unless you have other systems already. So yes, I can see it being described as an impulse buy simply because most people aren't really thinking about the future when they buy the system since there's really not much on it for the forseeable future. At least the PS3 has a release schedule rather than some asshole at Nintendo saying "oh, but we just gave you a new game a couple months ago, you greedy bastards."
Bah humbug.

That is the one thing about Nintendo that gets on my nerves. They tend to release their games a little too slow. Of course, you don't want them to rush most of them all out at once either. But at least you'd think we'd hear something new on SSBB at this point besides Fox being playable a couple months back. There is of course third-party support as well (Sonic and the Secret Rings this month). Well, in Japan there is Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn next month and in a situation like this makes me wish I got a Japanese Wii. Even though I wouldn't understand the story, I'd have fun just playing it. Though I should probably hold on getting a JP Wii until new colors arrive. This way I can tell them apart. :sd: :P

Actually, that's the problem -- you take the incompetance of third party developers on the Gamecube (since there were very few good games that weren't produced by Nintendo) and then you amplify it since there's a completely new controller. That's 360 degrees of fucking up for third parties to work with now. So basically, there's just Nintendo... and there's nothing coming out domestically for months at a time. I kinda want to buy Fire Emblem on the Japanese Wii... but I won't since I know it'll probably come out here in December along with the 4 other potentially good games scheduled for this year.

I can't comment much on the Gamecube aspect. Since I need to actually play more games from the system. Watch as I continue to focus on PS2 games both in terms of buying and playing. Still I do have to wonder what the most major problem with the new controller is going to be in terms of at least some third party companies screwing up.
Will it be on the actual control angle? Where some third party companies don't take the time to make games with good or at least decent control. Or will it be the crutch angle? Where some companies will decide just because you have to swing the remote ten times to save that means their game is uber-innovative. Or the forced angle? Where some companies will take what was better off left as a normal control scheme and force something fancy just to say they did.
I know I'm probably being overly worried about a controller for a system I don't own yet. However even to this day I still have mixed feelings about it. Also given the type of games I play, I'm not sure how many will really benefit from the whole Wiimote thing. Especially the turn-based ones.

Lift them up and look at the instructions on the bottom. If it's English it's the US one, if it's Japanese it's the Japanese one :P
Aside from that there's no difference, although one (the JP one I think) seems to sit lower in the stand.

Remember Doki Doki Majou Saiban on the DS? Y'know, the "touching loli witch" game? (*clue (http://darkdiamond.net/web-notes/ecchi-game-on-my-ds/)*).
Anyway, despite the fact that 99.9% of teh intarweb were convinced this was an explicit, XXX game featuring lots of loli sex, unfortunately it isn't. It's a lot more tame than that with no sex whatsoever.
But! Come back! According to this site (http://flamewaradvance.blogspot.com/2007/02/and-so-it-begins.html), Hizashi no Naka is cumming coming to the DS. A bit of googling suggests that this is a PC flash game released sometime last year. From what I can tell, this is not an official DS release (if it's even legit) but a homebrew game.
Anyone know anything more about the game? I'm not even going to try and deny interest. Everyone knows me by now :D :virgin: But for those of you acting all smug and pretending that you don't care, I found this on a forum discussing the game. It's something of a walkthrough:
day1
first u find the lil gurl sleeping. you then move her rite leg over to spread her pussy. then u play with it. finally u jackoff on her leg. (this feels weird 4 me 2 type but it was fun 2 do. Embarassed
day2
u hike up her skirt and then spred her legs. you can play with her pussy again but all u need to do is pull her panties aside. jackoff on her again and you are done.
day3 is kinda triky. if u dont do it rite u mite not b able 2 keep her from waking up. first off no playing w/ her. there is alot u need 2 do 2 her. first hike up her cloths. spread her legs. then play w/ her button 4 awhile. doing it 2 much will wake her up, and moving onto the next step could wake her up. once u think u've done it enough, move her panties aside. if u did it rite, she will b leaking. a lil sinema and ur ready 2 get going. once that is done, u need to push her legs 2gether, then remove her panties. spread her legs, and jackoff against her pussy. she will moan and make cute lil noises in her sleep. wen u erupt on her she wakes up with the cutest look on her face. then all is easy from there. day 4 and 5 she lets u do watever u want.

Anyway, word on the street (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6165172.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6165172) is that EA are bringing My Sims to Wii and DS, and that they're working on a portable version of Wil Wright's new evolutionary game Spore which sounds sort of interesting. Now the game I'm looking forward to MOST is coming to PSP. Hot damn. I hope they don't take long getting it out. The funny thing is I doubt I will even touch the 3-d version, but I'll play the hell out of old-school Rondo and SOTN.

I'm actually interested in seeing Mist myself seeing how she aged after three years. There's also this scan (http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/new3.jpg) (a couple weeks old though) with Lucino, Geoffrey, and Erincia, who also appear to return. I'm hoping for more new characters though. Don't want to see too many old people and no, I don't mean it in that kind of way. Well, at least new characters that relate to the previous ones. Like Micaiah (who I'm hoping is in SSBB) being Sothe's non-blood related sister. I mean, Laura doesn't look too bad there. :P

For now I'd just assume a straight port of the PS version. Although if they said something along the lines of "It will include Nocturne in the Moonlight", I'd be more confident of it having Saturn stuff. Hmm I wonder "Castlevania Symphon of the Nocturne in the Moonlight Night" Naaaaaaaaaah.
Wait this just in. Konami has issued a statement. They were going to consider including the Saturn extras and such. However because forum user Chacranajxy stated that there will be no better news this year. Konami has decided it would be futile to bother. Several PSP owners blame him for ruining everything. :>

Pssh... I think it was 1Up or Gamespot that had an article stating that Iga wanted to add some new stuff to Symphony of the Night for this version. He also said things along the lines of "I won't dumb down the difficulty" and "I'll make sure to keep the game appealing for diehard fans" when discussing the voice acting and translation. Maybe that means teh Japanese AND English? Iga clearly wants to go all out on this one. By the way guys, it's coming out 9/15/07.
Oh, the 1UPShow has a big segment on this simply orgasmic compilation as well.
Still feels like a dream.
Edit: Oh yeah, no pansy-ass anime-style portraits for Richter and Maria here -- Ayami Kojima, the artist who brought that gothic style to the character designs for SOTN -- is going to be doing the art for the remake. Again, perfection.

Like Micaiah (who I'm hoping is in SSBB) being Sothe's non-blood related sister. I mean, Laura doesn't look too bad there. :P
So wait does that means the name of the girl with silver (I think) hair shown early on is Micaiah? Well in general I would like to know her name. Because she is rather pretty. As for how many old characters should be in this? I have the logical system of the following. My favorites should appear and the rest should be left out. Wait that would probably be the system several would use.

Chacrana take note - Senko no Ronde may be getting a Western release going by Amazon (http://www.amazon.ca/Senko-No-Rondo-X-Box-360/dp/B000MTF05Y/) and CD Universe (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/games/pid/7375716/a/Senko+no+Rondo.htm).

IMO Senko is a system seller, especially if you like shmups, "different" fighters or uuique games.
I personally haven't tried it online but I hear it makes the game even better.
Oh and more good news for those interested - apparently Square Enix's Project Sylpheed is being publsihed by MS in US as well.

That is her name romanized according to this (http://www.eternalemblem.net/new5.jpg). Or you could be literal and call her "Mikaya". I rather do like it and I hope NOA doesn't choose to change it. Grrrrrrr!

Gamespot's got an interview with Iga up... so the important stuff that's more definite than before:
- Iga didn't like the Saturn version (with good reason.) The Saturn content will probably not show up, but he's not totally against throwing that in there along with the extra stuff he does come up with.
- Japanese voice overs will be there.
- he plans to give SOTN widescreen without stretching out the sprites... he plans to add borders and have a true widescreen feature.
- Iga wears a stupid cowboy hat.

Of course, to anyone with sense and good taste, announcements like a Castlevania PSP collection and Senko no Ronde coming to the US are great but those two and Project Sylpheed are like 90% of what would be on your gaming wishlist, right?
That's a pretty fucking great thing to have all those knocked off your most wanted list in the space of a few days.

I think the only annoucement I still want is something like "oh, we've got a DS version of Chrono Trigger coming out. Please look forward to it." If I heard that, I'd be like "Hell fucking yes I'll look forward to it." And even then, the PS1 version isn't bad on an emulator so between the seemingly improved load times there and the cinematics, I'm fine with what I have. The Castlevania thing is clearly where it was at.
Oh, and Konami supposedly has a big announcement on Monday. Let's hope it's not MGS4 going to the 360 -- I want Zone of the Enders 3 or something new... y'know, something that'd actually surprise people.

Can't remember if I or anyone else posted this before, but the first Wii modchip (http://www.wiikey.cn/) is available soon.
Unfortunately it allows pirated games but it allows import Wii and Gamecube games to be booted.
TBH though, considering Wii's are hard to get hold of right now, I can't see many people handing over their console to get this fitted. It would also probably be more cost effective (once supplies are up again and import sites calm down) to buy an additional Japanese Wii.

Yeah, just read this. The way it's worded suggets it's not MGS 4 on 360 (it's not a new franchise and it's not returning).
Since it's nice to guess, my predictions/pipedreams:
Contra next-gen coming to PS3 and 360 and/or Contra PSP comp sometime this year
Track and Field Wii!
Leathal Enforcers Wii!
Bishi Bashi Wii!
New Midnight Run in the vein of Initial D
Poy Poy 3 announcement and/or Poy Poy PSP comp
Gradius VI coming to PS3 this year
Hopefully some Pro Evo PS3 info including online Master League

I'm kinda anti-mod chip so I won't be getting that. If I want to import I'd rather have a Japanese Wii. I don't see this modchip being able to get around the Virtual Console "region blocking" and if I had a Japanese Wii I could also get Japanese VC games.

Gundam Musou actually looks pretty cool. Maybe it'll be the first great Gundam game ever? Wishful thinking I guess....
#1 was highly surprising.
#1 was highly surprising.
Sarcasm, I trust. There's no way that game isn't #1 in Japan. Having said that, at this time my #1 is FF6A, which won't be anywhere in Sacramento until tomorrow at the earliest because this town rims. And that'll probably only be at Gamestop, where they charge $35 because they're 'tards, while Worst Buy and TRU are slow on the uptake but will sell it for $30 once it arrives.
Makes it a good thing I'm having more fun in FF3DS.
Projecting out from there, though, yeah, I really do want to see DQ9 and DQS once they're ready to roll, but I think my long-term #1 is probably FF13. Or maybe Super Paper Mario. That game'll be awesome enough for my purposes.

Some new on online play for Virtua Tennis 3 on the 360:
The most realistic tennis game just got better!
SEGA today announced that Virtua Tennis 3 on the Xbox 360 will, for the first time in franchise history, allow players to compete with gamers around the world in Ranked and Player Modes for top scores on the Leaderboard on the Xbox Live. Virtua Tennis 3 will also support stunning 1080p graphics and a brand new VT:TV live spectator mode when the game launches.
For the first time, Xbox 360 gamers can experience high-definition 1080p graphics on their console with Virtua Tennis 3. With the highest digital video standard enabled on the Xbox 360, each of the 20 tennis pros featured in Virtua Tennis 3 appear even more realistic, while the court environments deliver a newfound richness in colour and texture. The increased levels of detail can be picked out in the spectators and backgrounds, and despite the increased number of pixels on screen, the smooth gameplay mechanics and movements of the players are just as fluid as ever.
The online gameplay for Virtua Tennis 3 consist of a number of features set to make the most of the Xbox Live network. Players can take part in Ranked or Friendly modes, and enter Exhibition games or Tournaments in both singles and doubles matches across the Live network. The all new VT:TV real-time spectator mode allows players to view their friends or other top-ranked players compete in tournaments, adding an all new strategy in sizing up the next opponent.
Virtua Tennis 3 on Xbox 360 is definitely the next generation of tennis commented Matt Woodley, Creative Director of SEGA. Were striving to create games which not only have great gameplay but also can make the very most of the Xbox 360s amazing technology.
Were thrilled to be able to say that Virtua Tennis 3 will be coming to Xbox 360, showcasing an online experience with Xbox Live that you wont find on any other systems and spectacular 1080p graphics, said George Peckham, general manager, global third party publishing for the Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft. Fun and easy to pick up and play, Sega is hitting another ace with Virtua Tennis 3.
Virtua Tennis 3 is slated for release in March 2007 on the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, and PSP system.

Probably because they'd have to pay for the online servers themselves, with no income since it'd be free.
Start-up costs aside, I don't think that the online fee for the 360 is THAT bad, really. Its not that expensive, and ultimately its just a handful of MMORPGs which require any extra spending (which would probably be true of the same games on PS3).
Actually, I'm considering getting a Gold account just to get access to the online-only auditions on iMAS. Once I've done all the special auditions, it'd give me a few more with a value (slightly) over 500000 fans to go for :sd:

Even if you don't get Gold, its worth it for the Silver to be able to download demos and movies, browse the iMAS league tables (oh, and I think it updates in-demand image ratings based on current player trends, which makes things a little more interesting) and a few other things. Aussie 360 with 120 GB hdd, and HDMI (http://www.gamersreports.com/news/4966/120gig-black-xbox360-with-hdmi-official/)
Just yesterday our inside source gave us a tip that Microsoft Australia has told a store named Myer to prepare the store for a Black 360 with a 120GB hard drive in April. Well day 2 of product knowledge today (Brisbane, Australia) featured Microsoft themselves and it's now 100% official that the Black 360, (with black controller), 120gb hard drive and HDMI is due out in Australia for $749 AU in April. They will try to push this forward to late March to deter buyers from the March 23 PS3 launch. Hopefully we see this good news sometime in Europe and USA. Should you take it as a grain of salt or not, whats your thoughts?
Also of note from Kotaku on the subject: (http://kotaku.com/gaming/360/rumour-australia-gets-black-120gb-360-in-march-234868.php)
this morning that Australia was to see a new version of the 360 in March to help combat the launch of the PS3. Sound ridiculous? Perhaps, but calls to Myer department stores across the country have actually backed this up, with Myer staff letting me know that over the past week Microsoft reps have been over for tea, biscuits and a demonstration of the new units.
I can only assume, if true, this would also be with the new 65nm chips. I'm not worried about the HDMI, and I'm really not too concerned about a 120 GB drive yet, but I AM curious about the 65 nm chips, and if/when this might result in the chips coming to the current premium box.
So how long before this makes its way over here? Gonna be a lot of ticked off US 360 buyers if they release this in the US and kill off the core model. This is one of the reasons why I told myself that I wouldn't buy a next gen console until all of this shook out. It still is kind of funny though to see the 360 have to put out another version. It's selling well, I don't see why they would do it. Maybe they're spooked by the PS3.

Just in case anyone cares at this point, Nintendo Wii's Japan site has updated two new Fire Emblem: GoD commercials. 1 (http://wii.com/jp/movies/wii-cm-soft21/) 2 (http://wii.com/jp/movies/fire-emblem-movie1/).
Looks like Devdan and Caclill are back. Two more returning characters I can care less for. Though they could be better this time. Overall I did like the double attack animation there, and I noticed the FMVs have subtitles (hey, maybe NOA is planning on a duel language option, but I wouldn't get my hopes up). I wouldn't be surprised if we see more returning characters in the end, but I would like to see some new faces. Then again, this game is supposed to be 44 chapters, so they could make room. :P

Ah 44 chapters sounds like a decent amount for Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn. Then again there is also the matter of how long each chapter is. Still in terms of the Path of Radiance characters that will be appearing in Goddess of Dawn, I think in the long run the extent of each person's role will vary. Some will be highly important to the story while others will play minor supporting roles at best.

Burnout Dominator feature (http://www.gamebrink.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13527). This is gonna be great. Loads of new stuff too. Anyone else getting this?
Phil Harrison confirms Locoroco 2 and a downloadable PS3 game based on those famous rubber ducks :D :
Q: What are you playing on other platforms?
A: There's enough on PS3 and PSP to keep me entertained. I played Loco Roco's next version on the way here. Actually, I'm also playing this. (He shows off a downloadable PS3 game called Super Rub a Dub, with rubber ducks in a bath.)
Also spotted at the conference Phil was speaking at was this pic (http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/8513/ps3pscardlol1810927xd1.jpg) which shows Playstation cards will be available at some point, hopefully opening up the Japanese store for purchasing stuff by non-Japanese :)
fl0w is also coming to the PS Store on the 22nd Feb, priced at $9.99. Video here (http://www.siliconera.com/index.php/2007/02/08/fl0ws-final-trailer-almost-on-the-ps3/)

Awesome. How they pull it off on the DS, though, I have no idea. Still, I'll pick it up for Wii, most likely.

I'd get that, too. Only thing is, if Guitar Hero is already nearly twice as much $$$ as the normal games, how much would Drum Hero be? Yikes, brother.

In my Drum Hero for the Wii, if you forgo the need for a bass pedal, you'd just need to develop motion-sensing drum sticks. No actual kit required. Hell, maybe even the remote and nunchuck could swing it, although the feel of drum sticks would rock. So cost wouldn't be too bad, unless two motion-sensing sticks break the bank for some reason.
Then the camera would just be in 1st person perspective behind the kit, looking out into the crowd and you would "hit" your "stick" on the right "drum". Then you could do different music which would require different types of kits. Start simple with the 3-piece than progress to the stage-dropping monster metal show kit. :D
Gah. You'd have to do something for the bass, gotta get in the rhythm.

Not a big fan of those characters either. Those trailers were cool though. Based on the (mock?)coverart of the game, I'd say Sothe is the new Lord. Unless they decide to make the girl (Rikaya or something?) the new Lord.
I think I need to start looking into this game more. Even if I can't play it yet on my Wii (when it comes out in Japan, I mean) I still might just buy it...

OK, everyone with a US 360 buy Blue Dragon when it comes out! According to The Magicbox,
Mistwalker mentioned that the company's plan for Blue Dragon 2 will depend on the sales of Blue Dragon 1 in US, and they think it may be possible to develop a NDS version of the game.
BD 2 and a DS version? make it happen! :D
WipEout on PS3 is to use the Motorstorm engine and will be out some time in 07.
Ratchet & Clank PS3 to be revealed next month.
Bandai Namco has postponed the release date of the PS3 fighting game Tekken 6 in US in 2008, which means the game may hit Japan by the end of this year the earliest.
Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories for PlayStation 2, the game will be released in US on March 6, 2007; and in Europe on March 9, 2007.
Latest Famitsu scores:

An unconfirmed rumour says another Space Channel 5 game is in development.
I task you with confirming this rumour! CONFIRM IT! NOW! … Right. You can probably tell that there's at least one sale in this venture. :nervous:
In a recent interview from C-Net, Square Enix's Yoichi Wada mentioned that the company will increasingly release remakes for the current platforms (PS2, NDS, PSP), such as the Final Fantasy series, due to demands and profits.
That's interesting. It suggests that the remasters are generating significant revenue for the company (like movies, games are considered successful if your revenue equals twice your production cost — pay $10M, make $20M), and that's tremendous considering the dramatic increase in development expense on the Generation 7 consoles absent Wii. It also suggests, as we're all talking about in the FF Thread, that those old games just rock the hizz-ouse. It further suggests that Generation 7 consoles are not considered appropriate destinations for the remasters.
What it doesn't suggest, however, is when they'll pull their thumbs out and get FF7 on the DS in the original 2D. ;)

Heh that would certainly be interesting to see. Either way I'm fine with the idea of remaking some games. So long as they actually vary the remakes a bit more. Even just remaking FF7 would be a huge improvement because it would be a sign of progress. Also there is still the most important remake. A remake of Seiken Densetsu 3 and have it come out here. I'm tired of wondering what the _______ of Mana name will be. Come on Square Enix don't leave people speculating.
I'm afraid you miswrote.
Also there is still the most important remake. A remake of Chrono Trigger and have it come out here.
Better. But why you're worried about it coming out here when S-E's current policy is to bring everything out here is beyond me. ;)
That said, I sure wouldn't mind a little collection of Sword, Secret, and <whatever> of Mana hitting the DS. But I still have to pick up Children, so I can be patient.

Ah, but the key here is we at least know the English name of Chrono Trigger. Where as the english name of Seiken Densetsu 3 remains a mystery. We have a better idea what the english name of Romancing SaGa 3 would be. Sure it could get a subtitle like Romancing SaGa did with Minstrel Song. However most likely that subtitle would be dropped.
But why you're worried about it coming out here when S-E's current policy is to bring everything out here is beyond me. ;)
In all seriousness while I do worry about the less popular games/series, I'm pretty confident I won't have to worry about Chrono Trigger. About the only thing stopping a remake from being released here is the need for the remake to be released in Japan first.

At the Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny board at Gamefaqs someone linked to this video (http://gamevideos.com/video/id/9170). Yes I know what it says, but the actual video is clearly from Atelier Iris: Grand Phantasm. It's also in English. Plus it was posted February 09 2007.
Make of that what you will. It may not be 100% confirmation the game is coming out here, but it gives an increased amount of hope. Since I liked the previous Atelier Iris games well enough, I'll probably want to get this one as well.

Another new DC game coming? Two new shmups have been announced - Exzeal, the sequel to Trizeal, which is most likely running on Naomi hardware and therefore easily DC portable, and another mobile game, Shooting: Technical Skills Test, which is apparently a port of the Shooting Ginokentei omake game included on the PS2 Trizeal port.
Only problem with a DC port of Exzeal is that Sega have announced they are stopping production of GD-ROMS which, amongst other things, means no more DC games (other than CD based ones) and no more NAOMI games :(

Actually I'm sure they're older than that. The index page makes it clear the pink haired girl has a chest. Granted it's not a huge chest, but it's still there. So more likely they're around 13 years old at least. Then again for all I know, they could be really early bloomers.... After all it's not like I can read Japanese. The score for Higurashi really astonished me, particularly given its sooooooo not the kind of game that ever reviews well in Famitsu. It must be seriously good stuff.
That said, there's nothing reviewed this week I'm particularly interested in, and I rarely trust Famitsu scores these days anyhoo.
Yeah, well Johnny's trying to sell us on something that's completely detestable. He might as well be going door to door and saying (In a durty Russian accent while holding a pint of Stolichnaya Vodka and a stogey) "I have this girl. She is... a bit young, but I am willing to sell." That money's just going to suffice his addiction to vodka, games, and whatever the hell else he's into and not telling us about.
Let's see here. Johnny's been a Russian loli-slave trader, a trafficker in import games in Roaring Twenties Chicago, an addict to who knows what — all by our hands. What else? And he is, by his own admission, a perv for private high school girls. How glad is he that OTF is hidden from the public? He'd have a nice stone room on the Isle of Wight and a manacle attached to an iron ball and striped pajamas with a kepi and three days' stubble if anybody from Her Majesty's Government found their way in here.
Poor little leprechaun. (I'm sure we all agree that there's no other way he could afford all the games he buys. Except, maybe, for Russian loli-slave trading.)

See what happens when you leave AOD to go to sleep? :D
I suppose now isn't the best time to mention that before I went to sleep last night I was playing that "Hey! Let's date and generally look in a pervy manner at 12-14 y/o Japanese chicks" PSP UMD game I was asking people if they could order, is it? :sd: :P
But anyway, yes, that's what I was thinking myself! I go to sleep, come home from work today to find out I'm being accused of, and called, pretty much everything! :sd:
FWIW, for me the figure skating game is appealing because of the way it uses the touch screen. The ages of the girls honestly had nothing to do with it O.O
And yeah, as ADC said, I'm fucking glad this and the OT forum ain't public. I dread to think of all the stuff I've said/admitted etc over the years :sd:

In addition, the site has a listing for Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, introducing the possibility that Capcom's Super Nintendo side-scroller could be the first downloadable game to land on all three platforms. A Capcom representative had not returned GameSpot's request for comment as of press time.

Apparently according to this story (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/764/764934p1.html) there are some downloads for Blue Dragon. Essentially there is the option to play the game in higher difficulty levels as well as new game+ of sorts. Ie carry over all your old stats and such. Thus if you thought the game was too easy or maybe too hard there you go.
Also there is apparently a remake of Hoshigami (http://www.siliconera.com/index.php/2007/02/15/hoshigami-running-blue-earth-remix-is-real/) coming out for the DS.

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada reveal the company's business strategy, in 2006/2007 the company will focus on game development for Nintendo DS, one of which is Dragon Quest IX. The reason is that the current hardware are different in prices and functions, they need to examine each hardware and find correct timing to publisher software. Wada thinks the next-gen market will grow, like the PS3, so development focus will eventually be strengthened to these systems.

Good news and good news, methinks. I don't know if it's possible to make the Primes especially good, but I kind of held out hope that the Wii Remote would at least make them more easily playable. More development time will hopefully result in a better game.

That may be a safe guess, since they pretty much have to put a massive amount of effort into the graphics to put it on PS3 (or X360 but that seems much less likely) but they good go with pretty much what its been at if they put it on Wii. But they've been putting out a decent number of handheld games as well.

That's it exactly. It's not going to PS2 plus there have been plenty of PSP and DS Tales games recently. 360 is out for sure which leaves the Wii and PS3. I'd say Tales PS3 will come next year with the Wii one by the end of 07.

I have the game but haven't played it in a while but this is what I can remember: There are basically 3 parts - a quick one-off match, a tournament and a story mode/RPG thing where you have to go around as Sena and interact with various characters from the series. Basically unless you read Japanese you're gonna be lost with the story mode. Which is no great loss really as it doesn't look to be all that interesting.
The actual matches themselves are great and require no knowledge of Japanese to play. From what I can remember, you need to tap the screen to catch one of your QBs passes, tap marks on the screen to make it past the opposition defense and do other touch screen related stuff :sd:
So yeah, if you like the manga/anime then go for it.
On a related note, the upcoming Wii game looks like it'll be a laugh.

Go for Phoenix Wright: JFA if you don't already have it as the JP version has completely English text.
The other stuff on the main sale page for the DS worth a look IMO is Starfox, Contact, the new Wario game and Winning Eleven.
If you go here (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-14-71-ib-49-en.html) however, there's more reduced stuff.

Ok, so I wanted more than just Eyeshield.
PW:JFA is a game I will definetley get later on, I'm stuck (for the 5 billionth time) in the first game.
For the GBA, I noticed the first 2 Starfi games were heavily discounted. I heard Starfi mentioned here before, so how are the first 2 games for the GBA? I care mostly about fun factor/ability to understand/enjoy.
