Hey everyone this is my first post. My question is which English publisher has the most manga that is uncensored, and keeps all volumes of that series uncensored?

Another question is about gacha gacha. I noticed that the first several volumes were rated OT but then they were rated M. Is there just nudity in the later part, or was it in the whole series, but just edited out in the first volumes?

My last question is about the slayers manga. Is that edited?

Thanks a lot, and I look forward to participating the Anime on DVD forums!

Gacha Gacha from Del Ray starts a new story with new characters after volume 5 wrapped up the original story. It also has more nudity (and nipples, apparently), so they retitled volumes 6+ as "Gacha Gacha The Next Revolution" and slapped a M rating on it to appease the stores that don't like ratings to change mid-series.

As for most unedited volumes, that's hard to say for sure.

By sheer quantity it would be Tokyopop or Viz. Even though Viz is censoring a lot of volumes and titles lately, they do have a lot of titles in their catalog that didn't get edited. Tokyopop has done less editing and their catalog is pretty big as well.

As for companies that haven't edited any of their titles and have stated they are against censoring their titles, Del Ray, Seven Seas, and Dr. Master are the leaders in that regard. Del Ray did have issues with Air Gear vol 1 and some story edits (that will be fixed in a second printing) and of course Del Ray almost censored Negima before they changed course.

You forget Go Comi, DramaQueen, and Broccoli.

I don't think DMP has ever censored a book, either, have they?

Viz just publishes the most, period. They also censor the most of all the publishers out there, so I'd regard them as the most "unsafe" publisher to buy from as long as a series is ongoing and not finished. You never know when they'll start cutting things up in the middle of a series. The only safe titles from Viz are the ones that we already know isn't censored and where all the volumes are out.

I just listed the three companies that I know have made direct statements that they won't censor their manga titles.

Have those three also stated this directly?

Given DramaQueen's about us (http://www.onedramaqueen.com/content/aboutus.php) page, I think it's safe to say they won't edit. If you're not happy, they'll give you your money back. (I'd like to see anyone else say that.) Plus, with some of their books released, if they were going to edit, they would have done so already... as some are quite graphic...

DQ and Go Comi, for certain. Which is why I included them. I thought Broccoli had as well, though I can't point to reference at this moment. I'm sure someone can, though.

I can't speak for other publishers, but Go! Comi's policy is never to censor anything, ever. We only publish titles we are behind 100%. Our company was founded by creators and writers (including David Wise, TMNT) so we consider the original intent of creators to be sacred.

This is like a smaller company vs bigger company argument almost.

I think most companies now, if they feel like they have to edit, they don't license it. Unless it's some huge thing like Tenjo Tenge or Naruto that they earn oodles off it with cuts. But then that goes back to the whole , who has more money/connections thing...
