So, we're at the middle of January and it's time to think about February releases. What have you got preordered or do you plan to pick up on release?
My list:
Crackdown (360)
Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3)
Cooking Mama: Minna to Issho ni Oryouri Taikai! (Wii)
Fatal Fury Battle Archives 2 (PS2)
Diddy Kong Racing (DS)
Bleach DS 2nd: Kokui Hirameku Chinkon Uta (DS)
SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters (DS)
Star Soldier (Best Version) (PSP)
Capcom Puzzle World (PSP)
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PSP)
Metal SLug Anthology (PSP) - assuming it's not delayed again
Trigger Heart Exelica LE (DC)
Maybe:
Fatal Inertia (PS3) - probably pick up at release but might wait a while
Naruto Shippuuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX (Wii) - definitely getting it at some point but possibly not on initial release
Simple 2000 Series Vol. 114: The Onna Oka Tsu Pichi Detective Story (PS2)
Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja (DS)

I don't think there is anything next month which really strikes me as worth buying, which is probably a good thing seeing as I intend to milk iMAS for all its worth. It may also be a nice, cheap month in which to pick up a PS3, though its a little tricky to find somewhere to get the US model I'd prefer.

I think all I'm getting for sure is Virtua Fighter 5, Cooking Mama and Metal Slug(PSP). I'm definitely gonna be looking into Crackdown, I'm just waiting to see some reviews of it first.
GBA
• Final Fantasy VI Advance
Wii
• Bust a Move Bash
• SSX Blur
• Wii Play + Wii Remote
I have Dawn of Mana written down as a Q1 release, but it doesn't have a specific date yet, so there you are.

I don't preorder anything except for certain cases, but of course, my planned course of action is:
Final Fantasy VI Advance (Most anticipated game of the month for me)
Ar Tonelico (I'm not positive on this... preordering this to get the bonus shit though)
Lunar Knights (Not sure on this either. Could be good.)
Metal Slug Anthology (PS2 - assuming it comes out in Feb. And assuming they fix the hitflashes. Not only will I be able to play the game now [decent controllers FTW], but I may be able to tell when I'm hitting bosses thanks to the hitflashes.)
Capcom Puzzle World (Assuming it comes out next month)
And because I like to pretend I'm a JP,
Bleach DS 2 (Almost definitely picking this one up... hopefully it'll leave me no reason to bother with the first game.)
Real Bout Fatal Fury Correction Two (Not a typo. A compilation so passionate that I shall once again walk up to people and yell "HEEY!! CMON CMON!?!?!")
Trigger Heart Excelica LE
I'd put VF5 down, but I'm waiting to actually get a PS3 before I buy that... that may be sooner than I initially thought though. Maybe March.

AR Tonelico for PS2.
I didn't pre-order it, but I'm also going to get Final Fantasy 6 for GBA

If EBgames is to believed then it's a March Title (http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=T000640). Late enough in March that it may be more of an April title for some. I have a definite interest in the title myself. I'm also going to be realistic and not expect it to be a clone of Secret of Mana. In fact from what I've read I can be certain about that.
In any case I have nothing really planned for February. Final Fantasy 6A is tempting, but I still have yet to get FF4A and FF5A. Then there is Ar Tonelico, but due to my indecisive about it even if I were to get the game it may not be until months later. Hence why I can only say nothing right now. Especially since I may want to make some progress in advancing my none-game related interests. Such as well that mysterious thing called anime. :D

Oh crap, I forgot about that. Put me down for one of those too. :D I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

I'm not sure whether to go for this or not. It seems really cool but with an RPG backlog consisting of FFIII, FFXII, Disgaea, Phantom Brave and Atelier Iris 2 I'm not sure how much of it I will be able to get through.
What's the preorder bonus stuff btw?

and Atelier Iris 2
Just throw that game in the trash if you wanna shorten up your backlog. Just my opinion, but I thought the Atelier Iris games were crap big time.

I'm kind of thinking about picking up Ar Tonelico myself. I hear it's similar in tone to Thousand Arms, and I loved that game. Er, oddly enough ^^;.
That, and I'm been dying to play a enjoyable turned based rpg lately. Also, I've noticed that I haven't really been giving any new series a shot and I keep on going for sequels to pre-established series instead. I need to branch out more.
I missed out on getting the nifty box though ;_; ....
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that Game Informer magazine game the game a bad review, and that generally means that it will be a good rpg :) .

Similar in that they both have dating sim elements, at least. I'm under the impression that there will only be two "dateable" characters in it though. I'd prefer a bit more variety, but I'll take what I can get. From what I've seen, it looks like it will be fun (supposedly has some good dialogue, according to GI) even if its a bit lax on the story. But its not like every RPG needs a groundbreaking and deep story to be good (though it helps).
I've had the game pre-ordered since October (the trailer looked nice and had kickass music, so I bit), but I wasn't aware of any pre-order bonus. That wasn't via website only, was it? I pre-ordered at Game Crazy.

It was online only from NIS America's website. http://www.onfulfillment.com/nisamerica112/

Just Crackdown, Bleach 2nd and Professor Layton preordered for me (probably the first month ever that I have more DS purchases planned than any other format). I guess you can include Soul Cradle since that slipped a week. Fatal Inertia has slipped too, by the way, in the same way that Bladestorm has slipped from March.
I was going to go for VF5, but I realized I'll never be able to work up the motivation to play it enough to get any good at it, and not buying it saves me buying the arcade stick as well, so I can wait for a decent PS2>PS3 controller convertor to be able to use my Hori RAP 2.

If that's the case then I think I have an idea of which two characters. As for bonus stuff for Ar Tonelico. Besides what Chacranajxy already mentioned concerning ordering from NIS America, it seems if you buy the game from EBgames you may get the artbook, but they don't mention the CD. I say may because you know how things are.

So how many RPGs are in your backlog? Hmm I wonder if we should start a topic about backlogs in general to mention what games are in our backlogs. With of course occasional updates to remove titles either because they've been completed or dropped permanently.

Which aspect would make you cry? Reading the lists of other posters or showing your own list to other posters? Perhaps both?
Edit: Either way the thread (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showpost.php?post/349697/) is created. Thus you and johnny need to make sure your tears are epic!

Another easy month for me, with just Diddy Kong Racing and Izuna for DS and Chulip for PS2 coming out. I have high hopes for Diddy Kong, I'm not sure what to think about Izuna, and I suspect Chulip will be very, very awesome. I still need a controller that works, though.

Final Fantasy VI Advance has approximately a 75% chance of being bought on release date.
I also want Jade Empire for PC but I'll wait for it to get cheaper.
That's all for me.

Metal Slug for the PSP and the PS2 for me in Feb. Probably Samurai Warriors 2 Empires as well. The UK version of Shinobido for the PSP is a maybe since I keep on hearing rumors of a US version.
I'm waiting for Hokuto No Ken arcade for the PS2 in March

I know you're a Tenchu fan - you heard that Tenchu Senran on the 360 is coming to the US as Tenchu Z? Can't remember if you have a 360 (or maybe you've even played Senran) but IMO it's the best in the series in quite a while and is definitely worth checking out.

That's the highlight of March for me. Too bad it's coming out at the very tail end of the month, but at least we're getting it.

I don't have a 360. I still haven't made up my mind on which next gen system I want. Ya I heard about Tenchu Z (or Senran)coming to the US. That and a few other games(Lost Planet, Gears of War) might persuade me to buy a 360.

Honestly in terms of Ar Tonelico, I've decided to wait off on getting the game. It's not that I don't want to get the game. It's just likely by the time I get around to playing the game it will probably have gone down in price. Perhaps months down the road I'll go for the game, but right now I have other things to concern myself with first. Heck maybe I should apply the same reasoning to a few other new games.

Was only planning on getting one game this month, SSX Blur (Wii), which I already have pre-ordered. But after watch the 2nd Lunar Knights (DS) (http://www.gamebrink.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13410) trailer, I might have to pick this one up as soon as I get through Hotel Dusk and Phoenix Wright. Seeing that Studio 4C did some animation pretty much sold me on it.

I am really, really close to pulling the trigger on Bleach DS 2 partially because I have a $10 off $50 coupon at Play-Asia. Anyone care to push me over the edge?

Cheaper than retail + Treasure + 2D fighter + online play + you don't own the first one = you have no choice over whether to buy this or not!
My order at PA was "ready to be shipped" last night and IIRC NCS reported stock was in early so if you hurry you could have it by the end of the week :)

MMMMmmmm mmmmmm.... them's some delicious deals. Ended up using the $10 off $50 coupon to get Ouendan (finally) and 3 boxes of Hello Kitty pocky. Then I used the $15 rebate off of a $30 Paypal purchase to get Bleach DS 2 from NCSX. I'm the only winner today.

A little late to this thread, but oh well....
Diddy Kong Racing DS (DS)
Crackdown (360)
Completely forgot about Lunar Knights until I read this thread, so I'll probably get that eventually, too (though I haven't finished Boktai 1 yet....).
In addition to preorders, I picked up Luigi's Mansion and all 9 of the Mario Party games that are currently out over here in anticipation of MP8 for Wii.
