Finally got a new PC!
What are the best games exclusive to PCs, i.e no current console alternative.
(Which specific PC games are better than the console altenatives? - must go with a reason!)

Well, could you give some preferences? It could be a very long list of games if you're not very picky about it...that, and it's getting harder to say, considering that most hit PC games eventually get turned into a console port. :tired:
And congratulations on the new PC. :)

Exclusive to PCs?
Far Cry, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, Medieval II
Games that are better than the console counterparts though? That's pretty much everything.
Oblivion - superior graphics, faster loading.
FEAR - Superior graphics, has the expansion available on PC
Rainbow Six Vegas - Better graphics on PC
the Splinter Cell series (excluding DA): Much better graphics on PC.
See the pattern? Anyway, those are all really good games and definitely worth looking into.

You also have the endless lists of MMOs (for those interested), not to mention some PC RPGs like Neverwinter Nights 1 + 2, also online fragfests like Battlefield 2 and 2142....

I can't really agree with your argument that "Better graphics = better game"....Though most of the examples you've given are better than their console counterparts.... Well, if your computer can run Oblivion at a decent pace; FEAR is a given on the PC; Vegas looked pretty good on an HD setup...and as for Double Agent, I got the Xbox version because of the better co-op setup. :D
Don't mind my endless rambling, I'm trying to say it's all in the gameplay...though for the most part, the gameplay would be the same (most obvious exclusion I can think of is GRAW....the 360 version beats the living shit out of the PC version).

I'll second "Dawn of War" and it's expansions. My girlfriend and I have loads of fun killing each other in that game. The campaign mode in "Dark Crusade" x-pack is really fun too.

I know that gameplay is really what matters, but considering that the games are identical in terms of gameplay, graphics would be the one thing that really differentiates them. Stuff like GRAW is an exception because it's extremely rare that the PC ends up with a completely different game. The DA port we got on the PC though was a disaster. As for stuff like Oblivion, I believe that Njr keeps up with hardware and he's got something damn nice right now, so it's definitely worthwhile for him to grab the PC version of the game.
