Who do you think I should go monthly with?

Gamefly (http://www.gamefly.com/)?

Red Octane (http://www.redoctanerentals.com/)?

Or the mysterious and as-yet-revealed "Other"?

For example, with NetFlix, I have a 'two-a-month' plan and it's perfect for me. I have just enough time to watch two DVDs, during the week, and the return the following week for another two DVDs.

Gaming is a little tricky. I might be playing a new game a lot (obvs), with the few free hours I have. But then there will be weeks or months where I might not play anything at all. However, I really want to sample a lot of the games out there before I plunk down anywhere from $30 to $60 for 'em; especially RPGs and action games. I figured I would rent them, play a few levels or hours and decide from there. If I like the game, I'll just buy it and continue from where I left off with the save data.

Platform? PS1/2 to start. Oh, and I live out on the east coast. Delivery and return times aren't really a factor, unless they're ridiculously unreasonable (i.e. well over a week to ship).

So, what's the verdict, gamers? I'd appreciate hearing any pros and cons you have to share. Thanks.

I've been a happy Gamefly subscriber for the last two years. I haven't tried the other service, so I can't judge it.

I'd only go for one of those renting services if you plan to rent a decent ammount of games fairly regularly. With Blockbuster and other places charging 6 dollars for five days, Gamefly is kind of nice if you plan to rent a couple games. But if you want to rent one or two games a month, paying twenty bucks isn't the best way to do it.

I was subscribed to gamefly and was happy with their service. I cancelled because I am too busy at the moment to take full advantage of it.

Has Gamefly gotten more distribution centers? I tried the service 2 or 3 years ago and they shipped to me from California. I'm on the east coast so games took a week or more to get to me. Thus I cancelled the service, as it felt like some of my monthly fee was being wasted waiting for games.

A week, huh? According to their FAQ (http://gamefly.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/gamefly.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=37&p_created=1114705126&p_sid=B9J1wRsi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfc m93X2NudD0xMTYmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N 2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfc GFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1), they say they still ship out from California. Like you said, that was two or three years ago.

Thanks for chiming in. I still haven't decided on anything, but everyone's opinions have helped.
