Yes, folks, it's that time of year. It's time, to pick a winner! (Well, okay, so they've already been picked...) But you can vote! And that's the good part! So be sure to vote and show your support for the new players (and characters) in this draft!

Mizuho Kazami (Please Teacher)
Lafiel (Crest of the Stars)
Sosuke Sagara (FMP)
Eikichi Onizuka (GTO)

You people don't make this easy. At least half of them were potential votes. The above were the ones I like the most of the most. But I can only vote 2, not 4.

Lafiel took first, while Sosuke barely squeezed past Onizuka and Mizuho, on the strength of me having finally seen Fumoffu just recently.

My First Vote (obvious):
Sora Naegino (Kaleido Star)

Nominees for second vote:
Sakaki (AzuDai)
Vash (Trigun)
Light (Deathnote)
Milfeulle (Galaxy Angel)

All 4 were close, but I HAD to give it to Sakaki. Basically all Azumanga characters are a lock for me.

This round was a little tricky for me. Ahiru was easily my favorite one, so that was easy, but then it came down to either Ed or Sakaki. Since Sakaki likes kitties, and it's Al who likes them in FMA, Sakaki gets my 2nd vote.

Lafiel was an easy choice for me. My second vote was much more competitive, but I went with Onizuka.

Light and Lafiel for me, the first for somewhat obvious reasons, and the latter 'cuz, well, I love her.
As a character...yeah.

Onizuka got one of my votes (I suspect I will be voting for my own in most matches) and the second vote of course goes to Ahiru. Sora would otherwise be strong contention for my vote (and possibly Ran).

If it wasn't for the fact that one particular character had been picked in this draft, this would have been VERY tough with Onizuka, Sakaki, Ed and Ran involved...

Thankfully Sora made the decision rather easy for me, with Ahiru of course being my second pick.

P.S. I know into drafting, but if it's O.K to continue my stories for those who wanted them in this thread, can someone give me the thumbs up or down for this please? :)

Keep in mind that this thread is going to have a fairly high turnover. Each round will be given its own thread as to not dwarf any of the other rounds. So next Sunday, this thread will be unpinned. Consider that in your decision. Otherwise, it doesn't matter to me.

How about we put the next poll on the right sidebar, like what I started doing with the Weekly Releases polls? I think we can get more people to vote on these polls if we put them of the right sidebar of the main menu. It seems to work for the Weekly polls as I noticed a significant increase in voter turnout over the last two polls (the small poll from last week and the current one).

Yeah, 10 (well 9) weeks is sorta blaaaaaaaah. Four days should suffice to get the majority of votes in. Especially if we sidebar it like bc suggested.

Round 3 voting starts tonight and a new round of voting will start every 3-4 days.

I agree that voting should be reduced to four days per round (things tend to get rather quiet after the first couple of days), but that won't happen in this draft. This is something that needs to be addressed again when the draft is over and we do our post-mortem and planning for 2008. :D

Right, it won't change for this year. (See last year for changes mid-draft. Not happening again, which is also why, despite my sucky HTML, I'm keeping the rules page in my hands.) The main arguments for keeping it a week (other than tradition) was to ensure that everyone has a chance to vote, since there are some people who are more weekend-oriented, and others might be sick for a few days. It is something that can be addressed at the post-game feedback, though.

I didn't realize there was going to be a decent amount of overlap (2 already started, 3 starting when 1 ends), so I actually don't mind the one week length.

And if it was like this last year, well, I don't remember such things and the rules threads are always too long, I don't start paying attention until people start picking =P

The only change I'm making this year from last is keeping rounds 9 and 10 in seperate threads and still delayed apart like prior rounds. (Last year, 9 and 10 were posted at the same time.)

Who cares about tradition? Four days is long enough, end one poll and start up a new one. I'm certainly going to be pushing for that next year.

Between this (the two dimensional hypocrit scoring really high and the coolest teacher in anime scoring really low) and some of the results in the moe tournament, it official: this board has terrible tastes.

Yes, let's assume everyone voting for Light has terrible taste, and that it has nothing to do with the fact that he's one of the most unique protagonists ever. Much easier.

I didn't vote for Light, and I think he's a complete bastard from what I saw of the anime, but that's exactly why he's so interesting.

I was really hoping for Lafiel to get me a medal, and in one of the toughest rounds in the game I'm glad she did! Going off past thread experiences, the posts rarely make the difference in who gets picked. I got gold in round 2 with Ippo last year and I don't remember a lot of posts about it.

Ah well, somewhat decent support for Onizuka, but still leaning towards the mid-to-low range as I did with Yuki. Probably would have been great characters later on, but the competition stifles them a bit here. I think with Onizuka in particular the challenge is some of the new, prominent male leads which definitely have a big base of support.

When you start a thread, under the Options section, there should be a option that reads "Add poll from this port to the portal". If you click the button on that option, then the poll you set up will be displayed on the right sidebar once you start the thread.
