Robotech: Shadow Chronicles

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I wanna know something. I've never watched Robotech, but I know of it's past, being a combo of 3 different unrelated Anime series. So my question is purtaining to the new movie coming out......is this movie just some Random Mecha Anime that they slapped Robotech onto? Or is this an Animated Film being created by America to look like Anime? Thanks

Robotech: Shadow Chronicles is entirely made up of new footage, mecha design based on Genesis Climber Mospeada and retaining the anime look was something the producers where trying to do.
