Haruka Suzumiya, Honya-chan, Primula, and Mikuru
No doubt these set of matches will be the toughest, most intense matches in the tournament. The way Honya has been winning her matches in the tournament thus far, she might be primed for a major upset. I guess the only characters that have the capability to beat Honya are the ones that actually know her - specifically, her classmates! :sd:

Mostly easy choices:
Konoka: Konoka is awesome and one of my favorite Negima characters but I'm not a huge Haruka fan (don't dislike her either, I'm just not a big fan)
Nadoka: I like Setchan a lot, but I like Nadoka more. It's a tough choice though as they are both amont my favorite Negima characters.
Asa: This was the only tough choice this round. Sorry Rim-chan.
Fate: Fate is awesome and moe, Mikuru... she just gets abused by Haruhi. I'm not much of a Mikuru fan.

It just keeps getting harder than harder...
Konoka Konoe (Negima) vs. Haruka Suzumiya (Rumbling Hearts)
Kono-chan is a darling, no doubt about that. She's cute, charming, sweet and a great in-between character for Negi and Asuna, and of course the possibility of a match with Setchan is always a plus. However, whilst I prefer Konoka as a character, poor Haruka suffers so much most physically and emotionally in the past and present, not to mention her cuteness herself, that I had to vote for Haruka.
Setsuna Sakurazaki (Negima) vs. Nodoka Miyazaki (Negima)
The all Negima round...again tough. Setchan is a Sakaki like moe - tough looking (and acting) but next to her beloved ojou-sama, she is a quivering mass of utter cuteness. However...she's up against Honya. There are so many cute moe characters in Negima it's hard to keep count, but at the top, it's always Nodoka. Cute, shy, nervous, every movement and word she utters is a sugar rush in adorability. Sorry Setchan...
Primula (Shuffle!) vs. Asa Shigure (Shuffle!)
Abstained. Reason: I HAVEN'T SEEN SHUFFLE...I SUCK...
Mikuru Asahina (Mel. of Haru Suzu) vs. Fate Testarossa (M.G.L. Nanoha A's)
I think the phrase here is holy crap...
IMO, whoever wins this wins the east side of the tournament. Probably completely wrong but on one side, you have Mikuru's nervousness, lolita face with omega body, not to mention Haruhi's costume attacking Mikuru every 5 seconds...every whimper and hiding behind something (usually Kyon, I would say poor smchuck but if it's Mikuru...) - she defeated Yakumo comfortably last round and would probably be my pick now for almost anybody.
Keyword...almost. Her opponent is Fate. Yeah, she's badass. But she's also an adorable young girl who wanted to please her mother. And how does this mother repay her? Oh by
physically abusing her 'daughter' even when Fate isn't really her true daughter. She fights Nanoha, and yet by blowing each other up, they reach a friendship which is among the best I've ever seen in anime. And Season 2, she discovers more friends which intensfies her cuteness...and then even when a dream nearly brings her to a life she wish she had, she exchanges it for the life she has NOW.
So costume shy girl from the future or badasss little girl with a tragic past.
Victory to Fate-chan!
Bout 1 took no time for me. It had to be Konoka. Even if Haruka didn't infuriate me to no end, she never had a prayer against my favorite Negima! character. I just hope Akamatsu backlash doesn't end her run prematurely.
Bout 2 needed a bit more thought. I think that I might have gone with Setchan before seeing Negima! volume 6, but Nodoka blew her up in that arc. This was a tough one, but I made a choice I can live with.

After the last round of eliminations, my enthusiasm has dwindled. Konoka, Nodoka, and Mikuru are certainly moe, but I don't care about them much. It's going to be a tough fight, but I hope Haruka advances. I'm also hoping Fate will pull out an upset against Mikuru.

Match 1: Konoka Konoe vs. Haruka Suzumiya
Konoka is definitely who I like more as a character. She's very sweet, friendly, a tease, and just a lot of fun to watch. Haruka, on the other hand, drips with melodrama to the point that you just wanna slap her. Despite her constant state of pity, Haruka finds a reason to live on even after being rejected, she tries to find good things in people, even people she doesn't like, and she tries to accept what has happened. Moe looks, moe personality, moe backstory. She's the whole package. The vote goes to Haruka.
Match 2: Setsuna Sakurazaki vs. Nodoka Miyazaki
The Pactio Battle begins with two girls who are moe, but obviously different kinds of moe. Setsuna's moe is more subtle where is Nodoka is moe at all times of the day in every scene she's in. She's clearly the favorite to win and has been demolishing opponent after opponent after opponent. Possible upsetter Kazumi Yoshida was even kicked to the curb after a 21-7 loss. Nodoka is more than likely going to win this, and then go on to win it all in the Western division. But I give the vote to Setsuna, simply to even out the playing field.
Match 3: Primula vs. Asa Shigure
Poor Rimu-chan is up against the head mother of the girls and that's not good. Asa bleeds "girl next door", a classic type of moe, and has a rather tragic backstory to boot. However, I was not an Asa fan in the latter episodes and especially not after the last episode. Come on, your new boyfriend has to cut himself for you to use magic powers you could use at any time and save your own ass?! You are some piece of work, girl! The vote goes to Primula.
Match 4: Mikuru Asahina vs. Fate Testarossa
I hear the LotR battle music in the background. The fight of destiny is finally here. Whoever wins this goes to the Eastern finals, and most likely wins it all. Mikuru's moe is pity. She cries a lot, is ditzy, and gets molested a lot. After a while, this gets annoying. Yes, it is possible to get bored with watching her get molested. The ear biting was the pinnacle. Haruhi just couldn't top it without some nipple... ahem, back to the battle, on the other hand is Fate, the darling of the Nanoha universe. Though she did not stand out as much in A's as she did in the first season, Fate managed to have her shining moments. Her first appearance in the new season, looking for a cell phone, and all of Ep. 11. Of course, that was the clincher. A moe character overcoming her own tragedies for the sake of being happy herself. You don't see that very often anymore. And also because she is the unofficial winner of the Saimoe (I do not accept those results and never will), the vote goes to Fate. She deserves it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Haruka is moe but even goes beyond that in appeal IMO.

Nodoka (Honya FTW)
Primula (Ruri-Ruri lookalike > Asa-sempai)
Mikuru (Mikuru Beam >>>>>> anything else)
02-24-2007, 07:21 PM
wow... these results so far are totally unexpected. With Mikuru catching so much flak from the Haruhi and Yuki fanbase, I never would have imaged her getting the furthest along
Go Mikuru, fight for the top!!!
... tough choice between her and Nodoka though... hmmmmmmmm
Asa and Konoka got my other votes

Haruka, Nodoka, Asa, Fate.
Looks like Konoka is going to have a real battle on her hands for this round. :>

I went with Mikuru and the two girls of the Library Exploration Club (Nodoka and Konoka).
02-27-2007, 03:17 PM
Konoka, Honya-chan, Rimu-chan. Mikurun
02-28-2007, 02:08 PM
:D Wow, Honya-chan kicked Setsuna's butt, didn't she? If I'm Nana-chan, I'd be very afraid. I don't think anyone will beat Nodoka now. :P
The Haruka-Konoka match was very close, but I'm glad the Haruka moved on to the semifinals. I also had a feeling that the two Shuffle girls ended up in a draw. From what I've been reading they seem to be the two most popular characters in the series.
02-28-2007, 02:12 PM
Woohoo... at least one thing goes right this round... go Haruka!
02-28-2007, 02:16 PM
What is up with the Shuffle! girls constantly tying?! Oh well, congrats to Haruka. At least she goes through...
*sheds a tear for Fate*
You deserved this so much more...

Here's a tidbit about the quarterfinalists.
5 are not human (Hazuki, Nana, Eruru, Primula, Ama), and one is half-human (Asa), and Mikuru is the only full human quarterfinalist on the Eastern side.
Damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it. Just one more vote. Haruka people, I tells ya. :sigh:

I'm disappointed that Konoka lost and I'm depressed that Fate lost, especially to Mikuru.
At least Nodoka won (not suprising).
