Evidentally and apparently, hooking up my PS2 to the family big screen TV a few years back is what caused it's demise (although my father got it repaired recently).

Is there really any kind of TVs that consoles could cause problems or damage for? I remember reading in a PS2 game manual about PS2 + projection TVs = no-no.

I'm on the verge of buying a 32"-40" flat panel LCD TV and I want to make sure before every hooking in any consoles to it won't cause problems.

Thanks, and sorry if this topic sounds retarded. Or rather, I sound retarded. :)

The only reason that they say not to use a console with a CRT projection TV is that they used to be very prone to burn-in. Newer TVs don't seem to have as much of a problem, I had a Toshiba HDTV that I used almost exclusively for gaming and never had any issues. You will be fine with an LCD since they are immune to burn-in.

I have the PS2 on my good ol 32" CRT TV. Yeah it isn't the best but it's better then going out and buying a dinky 15-20" LCD TV to play games on. So until I get a PS3 or 360, I like what I have.

Scrutinuze your LCD choice carefully with some actual games you play often to ensure you aren't susceptible to motion blur.
