Geez... can't win them all I guess. Well, there's no doubt about the moeness with the current finalists, but they're both quite boring compared to some of the characters that made it far in the contest.

Just finished Haruhi the other night (which was awesome), and I absolutely have to vote for Asahina.

This is definitely going to be an interesting finals, as both girls definitely fit the definition of "moe" IMO.

As for voting, while Haruhi Suzumiya is the better anime, when it comes to moeness, Mikuru can't top the cuteness of one Nodoka Miyazaki.

A worthy final indeed - however the vote was easy. Mikuru is a gorgeous time traveller but her moe-ness (is that a word?) comes mostly from the abuse she gets from Haruhi...

Nodoka however is simply moe in EVERY scene she is in. Talking, moving, her nerves around Negi, hugging her best friend, worrying about her own thoughts, etc.

If Mikuru doesn't win here, then this tournament is officially a failure in my book (just like every other moe tournament that I've ever voted in...), especially with the anti-Mikuru comments in this thread.

Nodoka doesn't have the looks to be as adorable as Mikuru, and from what I've read, it doesn't sound like she acts as adorable as Mikuru either. Plus, she's a loli, and loli-moe is not my favorite kind of moe. (especially the clingy, jelous onee-san types... ugh)

I went with Nodoka by default. I've only seen one episode of Negima a while back and don't remember if I even saw her but I've been well convinced by the other posters to vote for her over Mikuru, whom I have found to be just a downright helpless and pathetic character based on the 3 episodes I've seen of the show. For some reason, it just really turned me off and disgusted me.

She's dealing with Haruhi... if the SOS brigade doesn't keep her entertained and happy, then there's a fair chance that Earth and the future as she knows it may cease to exist. It might prove to be a very bad idea for her to fight back. (and Kyon can't do anything more about it than yell at Haruhi for the same reason... if she gets really pissed, that could be it for Earth)

If anything, Mikuru's the most underrated of the TMoHS character... she's clearly the most adorable, but she also has the most haters and the least amount of fans on most forums. Makes me sad. :cry:

Sorry, I don't agree with you. Nodoka's demeanor and attitude doesn't make her a "loli". Along with being a quiet and timid girl, she's also an adrophobe, and I can't really view her as a loli since she is androphobic. Plus, she's in love with a person who's four years younger than her, so the small age difference is basically a non-factor. If there really is a loli among the Negima girls, it's definitly Asuna.

Most likely people were misled by the image that Aya used for Nodoka. While her Pactio card is pretty cool, unless you actually read the manga and/or watched the anime, it doesn't really describe what type of character Nodoka really is. Perhaps a better image of her might be this one (http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/9571/miyazakinodokasl3.jpg) , in which I'm currently using as my wallpaper on my home PC. :D

Well done Honya-chan - from the very start she had to be one of the favourites and she proved it to the end - she obliterated almost all her opponents - only Hazuki and Mikuru in the end came even close to stopping her, yet the bookworm prevailed.

Negima also seemed to follow in the previous years winner in having a lot of representatives get pretty far. Last year, Sister Princess absolutely dominated the competition with a one-two finish for Kaho (winner) and Hinako (runner up) not to mention semi finals and quarter finals for Marie, Haruka and Mamoru.

This year, Setchan, Kono-chan and Honya did the Negima girls proud, with decent performances as well from Eva-chan, Sayo-chan and Makie, so again, one series seems to dominate the competition, and in the end, a rep came through.

2005: Kaho (Sister Princess)
2006: Nodoka (Negima)

Yes, some of the votes in both years (Naga WTF?) were shocking, but I think that in both years, we can agree the winners definitely fit a moe tournament...

Actually, when it comes to the manga, Nodoka is now technically a third-year student (and is now 15 years old).

As for her being a "loli", compared to Evangeline, Yue, and the twins, she's a normal girl.

As for Nadoka being loli... no, not really. The twins and Eva are definitely loli and I guess Yue too. But I think Nadoka falls a bit short of qualifying as loli.

My early bet for the 2008 Invitational is "Unyuu", not "Uguu".

I lean towards "Unyuu" myself, but I think both will go far in next years tournament unless they face each other early on. At this point, I don't think I could predict one this far out. We've still got at least six month's worth of new shows that will qualify for next year and Honya-chan will be in next year's tournament as well (and, frankly, despite being from a different series, many people will probably vote for her for the same reasons).
