All in all, the figures aren't that great, especially compared with the Ryuk one that came with the first volume. Hopefully the Rem figure with volume 6 will as nice as Ryuk.

Yes, there are only two boxes. I bought two more "just to be on the box safe side" as far as TRSI's Region 1 release goes. I figure if they don't release a box, I'm covered. Now on the other hand if they do, well I'm still covered. :P And I can just sell off what I don't need.

I did the same thing with Black Lagoon. Which judging by the packaging questions with that series, may have been a good bet.

If there is a box for a series I like, I'll pick up at least one sometimes (like here) two just to be safe in the event of a non-boxed R1 release (Kasimasi, Divergance EVE, Yukikaze, Planetes, Scrapped Princess (R4 for those last two though).

I've been really into Genshiken lately, and having been inspired a little by Madarame's now infamous speech about which type of porn a person prefers, I decided not to hold back anymore on getting some of the books by my favorite artists. Gunma and Shiwasu no Okina are probably my top 2. Shining Musume is a pretty fun read. I thought there was a volume 6, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

I was pretty surprised how much I liked the Getsumen to Heiki Mina series. It's really fun and didn't try to be more than what it was. I should have the first vol in next week...

That is a nice box, I'm not a fan of the filler's costume design for Ishida, but it actually looks ok on the box. Sadly I need to cut back on R2s and I decided to stop collecting Bleach after this arc is released so I'm going to miss the boxes after this one.

The Syoujyo Robot CD-ROM is a pretty neat extra (about 20 color illustrations by Itaru *glad it included the CD art she did for one of Togoshi Magome's STB-Lab Doujin CD releases*, some rough art plus guest art and some Omake stuff on the CD itself *Neko Mecha CG short clip plus Mari-san Screensavers ^_~).
I agree with you on the Doujinshi itself (while most of Itaru's Doujins do contain interviews with her this one was quite extensive and didn't leaf much space for her art...but the included rough designs are *as usual* to die for :bigsmile:)
Btw. Jumbo really nice Avatar ^_^

Admitted TECH GIAN sure has the best exclusive features on the games but IMO Bug Bug comes pretty close to that (i.e. the short all color Mitsuki Mantarou done manga for Figure @ Carnival). I'd gladly pay a little more for Bug Bug if they would include such a decent bonus DVD as they did with the Anniversary issue.

Thanks for sharing! It's nice to see good Kuroda again after the train wreck that is Kaibutsu Ojou. If only he'd get back together with Gonzo and they would put as much time and effort (And money I suppose ^^;) into a new series as they did into Vandread... I'd love to see him doing original character design for a TV anime with a good budget again. (Don't get me wrong though, I don't technically have anything against Sora-Muzi per say, other than I'm not much of a Hentai anime fan myself.)

Btw. Gatts speaking of Himajin, you don't happen to know the character designer for the Amour (http://www.mon-amour.biz/) brand work Inyou Mushi The Animation? The Official page for the project doesn't feature staff details and I wasn't able to find any info on the anime.

As for the SHIMAHOKKE Doujins good luck in finding the 9th one! I had to spend a litle fortune on this one but it was definitely worth it (lovely color introduction pages and pretty much the whole sketches/storyboard roughs for the ecchi scenes of the first OVA episode plus rough art by Kuroda for the promotion art for the project).


Congrats on finally getting a hold of Ozone and also filling out your I've PV collection. ^_^ I hope that like for me, with all the other tracks ending up on other albums, that you still enjoy Jyuuyon no Tsuki as much as I (still) do. Regarding Ozone I love the CD to bits. "Jyuuyon no Tsuki" was a neat surprise as Ozone album original song and the Ozone version of "Ai no Uta" has instantly become my personal favorite take on that song (I also like "Uchuu no Hane" but prefer the ULYSSES version of that song a bit more).
The HAYATE GUMO DVD is a nice I've goodie as well, but I only got it because it was sold as complete set with diRTY GiFT (which is such an awesome album..."SWAY" has become my favorite Utatsuki Kaori song ^_^). Now I just have to go for the first PV Collection to complete the trilogy ^_~

Very nice update. I often wonder how big of a haul you would end up with if you actually attended Comiket or some other event where doujin material was being sold. Sort of makes it hard to just focus on dvds & calendars when you post such a variety of other merchandise.

Well, they ~are~ actual telephone cards (Most public phones in Japan have a card slot for pre-paid type phone cards as well as a slot for coins) but only a heathen would ~dare~ use them at all to risk scraping the lovely artwork up and depreciating their collectible value.

So considering the rise of the cell phone in Japan and how they are about collectibles in general anyway, they pretty much serve the purpose of yet another item to entice fans. (Mainly by hiring artists to do exclusive art for said telecard that usually isn't reproduced anywhere else. (Though some art books will include such images depending on the artist, publisher and company.)

Basically they can be looked at as the Japanese version of baseball cards for anime/game otaku. ^^;

Since the telecards are only usable within Japan and their cost vs. availability, Yahoo Japan Auctions through a proxy service is probably your best bet if you want to obtain them.

I can't think of any stores that really "carry" them per say outside of used goods stores such as Mandarake, K-books or Liberty, (Which would have them in store behind a glass case in the store itself) let alone stores that would ship internationally.

littleharlock would probably have a better list of options and more experience at handling this question than me though. ^^;

As Jumbo already explained it comes done to this "yeah Telecards are certainly not made to make a call with them" :bigsmile:
In fact a lot of jp online stores that carry/sell Telecards do label them as damaged (and sell them at a much lower price) if they *are* used.

The fascination of them is hard to explain but it has (for me at least) a lot do to with the exclusive art. Of course prices for Telecards themself can range immensively (just like with other collector items) depending on "elements" like popularity of the artist, brand and series/project they're made for/by (i.e. in case of the cards I purchased/posted pictures of here it was fairly easy *in regards of price* to get the Bokukoi Sofmap Telecard illustrated by Hinoue Itaru for pekoe/Visual Art's for a normal price of about 1,500 Yen while the above posted Key/Visual Art's cards by the same artist were "a bit more" price intensive).

I'm not aware of a shop that sells Telecards international (and honestly speaking I didn't really look hard yet either for one). As for the Y!AJ I hardly make use of auctions to go for Telecards (only if it's a card I *really* want and can't find anywhere else *like the Bokukoi LAOX Telecard or some other Itaru-sensei illustrated ones I purchased*) because the fees in relation to the price the cards end up are financial killers and stick more to jp shops that either have Telecards as part of their stock or are focused on selling them.

I thought about getting this, but looking at it now, I would still have passed.

I don't know what it is, but Eclair's face (regardless of other features) looks somewhat off-model to me. Doesn't quite feel right.

Gotoh's drawings do seem to be oddly hit-and-miss at time.

There's new eyecatches by each of the principals plus some new static pans. Only one actual new scene though, which was short, so it was a bit of a disappointment really. There's footage of Aya on the DVD mind, which is never a bad thing, along with Ryoko Nagata in a Kimono, Mami Kosuge, Ikue Kimura, Gotoh, Kimura and Megumi (who seems really shy).

PS: the Gigantic Formula box art is by Megumi and is very nice, I haven't had time to scan it yet.

I got his last two doujinshi from last comiket (got 2 copies of each somehow...) anyways, if you'd see the pinup of Eclair 2nd form he drew in there, you almost wouldn't recognize that it's her.

Well all of the art he's done for Gigantic Formula isn't as extreme as what's on that Kiddy Grade box however.


PS: the Gigantic Formula box art is by Megumi and is very nice, I haven't had time to scan it yet.

Here's another shot (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/marsh-/Random%20Pics/DSC00202.jpg) of the Claymore LE. It came with the first dvd containing 2 episodes (the next LE's should have around 6), a second disc with extras (clean OP/ED, interviews, promo videos), and a color booklet. The box was only meant to hold the stuff that came with it and it's pretty sturdy. Kind of wish there was character artwork on it though. Maybe we'll get that with subsequent volumes.

With the box art above its actually Lumiere who looks most off-model face-wise, but something wierd has happen to Eclair boobs, which I didn't notice till I put all the scans together. His new eyecatch (http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/shirobane/KiddyGradeIgnition/photo?authkey=pksX8F43r-4#5092757699526275618) is similar in style to the box art but the colouring is unlike his usual work.

I'm probably not going to watch the whole movie in the next day or two. I'm waiting for my new LCD to arrive before I watch it. There is a thread in the HD forum (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/23694/). Chris or someone else will probably do a better review than I could ever do.

I only watched the first few minutes of it. Ghost in the Shell is an older movie so there is a bit of grain through out the movie. I don't think theres a huge jump video quality wise compared to the DVD that came with it. I can't really rave about the audio either because it only includes the Japanese PCM and English DD tracks. You must be a GitS fan if you have 6 releases of the movie. If you already have a Blu-ray player why not pick up the movie. It certainly won't make the movie any better. It will give the movie a semi new viewing experience.

This Saiban book is further proof that Capcom puts together a mighty fine art book. Comes in a slip case that holds two separate books. One for Naruhodo Ryuuichi (Phoenix Wright) that holds art from Gyakuten Saiban 1~3 and a smaller book titled Odoroki Housuke (Protagonist of the 4th game) which contains art from Gyakuten Saiban 4. Over 250 pages of all color artwork from the series. Good, good stuff.
