Continuation of the v3 thread (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/17445/) :-)
As always the big question is...just what game are you playing now?
I'm still on Shadow Hearts: From the New World. I'm up to the second level of Uyuni Salt Lake after taking some time to go collect as many power ups and doing all the side quest stuff I could. I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed to see how quickly this game seems to be going. I seem to be approaching the end, sans finishing up side quests. However, I think some of the side quests will be as long as story segments, so hopefully that will fill things in nicely.

Nothing new for me, I'm still playing through Resistance and Gundam Musou on the PS3, and will start God of War II shortly.

The thread titles are making the progress. Quality.
Anyway, I started on Jade Empire. Meaning, I'm 12 minutes into it so I have nothing interesting to say other than that I like the PC version.

Let's see after finishing Megamari, I set up three new end game passwords. The first has Alice and Marisa completely swap weapons. Ie every weapon I gave Alice the first time Marisa has and vice versa. However since it's *****ing impossible if you ask me to deal with the "quickman" part of the first castle stage without the ability to stop time, I made another password like the first one I mentioned. Except Marisa keeps Sakuya's weapon. While Alice keeps Yuyuko. The third and final new one is consider my preferred set up for each of them. Marisa gets Reimu, Sakuya, Reisen, and Cirno. While Alice gets Remelia, Yuyoku, Youmu and Erin.
Also yes I'm still progressing slowly, but surely through Xenosaga 2. From what I can gather I'm near the end of the game. Ie I'm in the whole Omega System or whatever Granted yes there is supposedly after game stuff I could do, but honestly I don't think I care enough to even bother. Granted yes the game isn't as bad as my initial impression lead me to believe, but it's still not clicking with me. Hence why I won't bother with the after game stuff.
This map was a blast! I think I found every frickin' hole the Daeins dug on the bridge (most of them in totally obvious places, but I'm not terribly bright at these games), but everybody's so über at this point that the nearest anybody came to dying was Rhys dropping to 8 HP after getting hit by three ballistae. Ilyana took care of that in a jiffy. Anyway, Oscar was the MVP, Haar dealt the killing blow after Jill recruited him, and (as usual) Astrid was damn'd useful. She reminds me of Eirika (Sacred Stones) for her ridiculous evasion and, therefore, near-invincibility.
It occurs to me that I still haven't pulled the free items off the MKDD bonus disc. What's my problem?

Aha. I knew the topic title sounded familiar.
There's going to be a GOOD amount of sidequests at the end. There's a dungeon that will last about two hours (with no save points!), there's Pit Fights, revisiting past dungeons to obtain rare items hidden in the final room (where you normally fight a boss). Getting Souls for Shania's final fusion soul will take some time (make sure to go back to the end of Vilcabamba BEFORE finishing the story segment of the game and before doing any other sidequests, the accessory you find there will increase Soul Energy gain by 20%. Which only makes it useful for boss fights, since normal enemies leave less than 5 Soul Energy).
Hope you enjoy the game!
I'm actually playing it right now again. This is my fifth time, and I'm trying to do a "perfect" game again (my first play was a "perfect," sans missing two snap cards for obvious reasons - final bosses).
Also trying to best my current and best score. Ring Success and Ring Perfects are both at 100% among other things.

I finished two games this past week, Ar Tonelico and Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney. I finished them both on the same day actually.
Now Ar Tonelico has three "phases" in the game. And While I enjoyed Phases 1 and 2, I didn't really like Phase 3 that much. I think part of the reason is because I ended up not liking Reyvateil 3 that much. And Phase 3 has a lot to do with her, along with some odd logic here and there.
Kind of mild spoilers:
I also didn't like her cosmosphere. I don't mind lots of reading, heck, I love lots of reading, I just didn't like her cosmosphere story. Basically, it was just an incredibly corny magical girl story that just kept going and going and going.
I loved Misha's and Aurica's cosmospheres. Sure, they were corny as heck sometimes too, but the psychological aspects and the setting changes were a lot of fun.
Revateil 3's cosmosphere had no such setting changes or psychological aspects.
Eh. Third Revateil also sort of got on my nerves a bit. Take the neediness of Aurica in the begining of the game and add an occasional pretentiousness that comes with a high position and there ya go.
Her English voice acting is also some of the worst in the game. It's like she received no direction at all. Her tones just went all over the place. And her Japanese voice is just regular, lil' girl "moe". Nothing special really.
Now, I'm ASSUMING the changing tones in the English version might partially have to do with trying to translate different forms of Japanese politeness. Still, it just didn't work.
Another thing that bothered me with Phase 3 is just a personal preference. Phase 3 was rather non-linear at times. So there was a lot of-- "Go to these five places, but go in any order you want! WOO!" and of course, with that kind of set-up, you really can't have much of a story during such moments. So for me, I got kind of bored.
Overall, Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the game, I just thought the last chapter dragged on too long. And I wish the character development of the males was handled a bit better. Yeah, yeah, I know, this game is mostly about the girls, but the guys are THERE-- don't just give 'em a couple of lines and then have major developments come from that.
Ayatane, I'm looking at you! Loved the character and his look and his story, but the way it was presented was just... awkward.
Now technically, I can easily access another ending but... I'm in no hurry. The other ending I can get actually involves Revateil 3, and since I'm not a fan of hers, I probably won't do it.
Ah well, I will say that in the end, I'm glad I chose to go with Aurica. She really, REALLY grew on me ^^ . She's ended up my favorite character in the game actually.
Now, concerning the other game I finished recently, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney:
It was so very, VERY good. I actually think it was the top-notch writing in this game that made me have a hard time with the latter parts of Ar Tonelico.
Case 5, the last case, was surprisingly long, and kind of difficult, simply because this case had a lot more evidence to go through than the other cases. It was ever so worth it though.
And I loved the main antagonist in this one. (Er, in a "he's interesting!" way as opposed to a crush sort of way.)
In the end, I found Ace Attorney1 intriguing in a lot of ways, and I loved it the whole way through. I currently have the second game in my backlog, so I'm looking forward to that.
Currently though, I'm playing Trace Memory. Simply because I hear the game is short, and I'm in the mood for a shorter game. Pretty simple reason really~
I'm enjoying it so far though.

God of War II arrived this morning and I've put a couple of hours in already.
Nothing much more I can say other than the game has so far delivered on all that was promised - action, action, action.
Gameplay is great, voice acting is great, music is great, cut scenes are gorgeous (if this is the PS2 at its peak, I can only imagine what the PS3 will be outputting in 3-4 years...).

Trying to juggle Company of Heroes, GRAW 2, and NBA Street: Homecourt (360 rental)...embarassingly enough, I haven't played much out of the three. Personally, I blame work...but that's probably everyone's excuse. :P
PS2: I've progressed pretty far in FFXII and I am getting close to the end. I'm at Giruvegan right now, but I think I will go do some side quests and come back to that. The three main characters I use (Vaan, Penelo, Ashe) are all at Level 60+, so I want to get some of the other characters in my party up a bit more.
Dreamcast - bought a used Dreamcast for $30 a few weeks ago. I've been mostly playing Rival Schools 2 and Puyo Puyo Fever. The Dreamcast rocks, don't know why I didn't buy one years ago.

like johnny, i am playing God of War II
man, too many yrs of only playing racing and fighting games have made me soft. after killing the 2nd leviathan, i was stuck on the doors level for so long! hahaha, i am stupid, i thought the game was broken and there was no way to advance :D
Well, Rhys ate it in Chapter 24, so I had to dump a whole bunch of bonus experience into Mist — right before a stage in which she should not have been a mounty. (Ass.) But Chapter 25 was awesome. I didn't get to the top of the mountain until they'd rolled most of their rocks down on my people (scoring a six-chain on one of them, including their own combatants!). Very bizarre but strangely realistic warfare. MVPs were Kieran and Ike; Astrid kind of got left behind on both battles, having been stuck in the middle of nowhere on 24 and stuck in the mud on 25.

Let's see, on the Wii I'm currently playing Fire Emblem 10 on hard mode. Up to chapter 1-6: the two parter. I should have played this on hard mode the first time. You actually gain the normal amount of exp in battle and the objectives are more unique (escaping is back). Thank god it's not FE6 HM. It's more like FE9 HM. I just wish Micaiah was a little faster. Okay, I played on Normal because I wanted to play through the game without having to frustrate myself and unlock the extras menu. Song titles aren't in English this time (you won't have to worry about this once the game is localized in the US) and there's no character art section. Hmm...maybe IS is saving that for FE11. ;)
On the DS I'm playing Wario: Master of Disguise. I just got past the Pharoh level and I'm not really too happy with it. Unlike Kirby Squeak Squad, it's actually a little difficult, so I give it points for that. The stylus use is okay, but it's annoying when you're up against a boss and you end up drawing the wrong form. I also don't like Wario's tackle in this one. I know the button controls are for left-handed people (like Link), but I wish his tackle was like in the older Wario games where you press B you dash and punch across the screen instead of punch and not move. The other forms are intersting. I like Arty Wario (I always end up drawing POOP when I want hearts or blocks) and Genius Wario mainly for the mechinized punching glove. While gimmicky, the mini games can be enjoyable as well. Overall for a platformer that uses the stylus, I like Super Princess Peach better. :P

I'd love to play that and Super Marisa World, but God hates me and none of the torrents work. :(
Of course, its not like I'd be playing it anytime soon anyways. I'm still not playing anything, haven't played any games at all since early January. I'm currently working on my DVD backlog and when I trim that down enough I'll play games again.

I never really bothered with extra stuff either. I did a little when the Good Samaritan stuff first became available and did 4 or 5 of those and never bothered after that.

Playing the same Wii games as usual, and am currently running back through Okami on PS2 with my 'new game plus'. Just beat Blight in Sei-An City, making my way into Ryoshima Coast now.
I tell ya', if there's one place that game fails, it's in the dialouge noises. It's like Banjo-Kazooie cranked up to the very limits of annoyance. Unfortunately, Issun's sound is one of the most annoying, and that's the one you hear more of than any other character. :(
After the bridge with all the sinkhole booby traps and the hill with the boulders, this was a very tame map. Mia was the MVP and dealt the death blow to the boss (a critical hit; Swordmasters are ridiculous in this game). I think I'm going to have to spend some bonus experience on Elincia, though, who had to stay back and was basically useless. This map might have been more fun if I'd been limited to like 10–12 people, but there was no challenge with 19.
I have an Occult scroll burning a hole in my inventory. Ike already got his, so I'm going to see if anybody else needs an awesome skill. (Most of the non-Occult skills in this game are kind of lame. I mean, Gamble? Sure, I want a 40 percent chance to score a hit with a 12-percent chance to go critical. Yay.)

I'm currently juggling all of these...
Final Fantasy VI Advance (GBA) - I'm pretty much done with this. I'm at the end of the game and have raided Kefka's tower once. Just have to go back in and finish it, beat the Dragon's Den, and the Soul Shrine. I could've done this by now but I've been collecting Gau's Rages and Strago's Lores. I'm trying to get all of each for the first time in my life.
Wii Play (Wii) - Just trying to earn medals. And I've been playing multiplayer Tanks.
Wii Sports (Wii) - Just started playing the Fitness Test again after not touching it for 2 months. Also trying to go pro on all of the sports.
Mario Kart 64 (Wii) - This game is just as much fun as I remembered. Actually, maybe more so because playing with adults that can do strategy (unlike my brothers) is tougher, thus more entertaining.
Guitar Hero/Guitar Hero 2 (PS2) - I lumped them together because I'm trying to do the same thing in both; I'm trying to 5-star all the songs in Medium and finish Career Mode on Hard. I also play multiplayer about half the time. I still love being rhythm/bass on GH2 in Coop mode.

There's sixteen Pit Fight problems in all. The final set (each set - 4) isn't available until you've done a majority of the sidequests.
Don't forget to backtrack dungeons and towns. A number of characters' ultimate weapons are pretty easy to obtain off the bat (all sidequests open up as soon as you -enter- the final dungeon) and will be useful for the other sidequests and obtaining other ultimate weapons and armor.
You need to collect 115 unique snap cards (have at least one of each, but since you need to trade to obtain rare ones, you need to take multiples) to open up the Purgatory sidequest of doom (completing Purgatory will net you a bonus personal skill for Johnny, that transfers through New Game Plus). It's also the only way to have every single unique snap card (don't forget to snap the final bosses at least once), if you have every single one, you can obtain the Eternal Key in your next game (and all new game pluses there-after) to have fun with.

Oh, definitely. The Dreamcast truly is an underrated gem of a console. Just like the Saturn and Nintendo 64. Game Gear had some good stuff too but the hardware itself was a pain to deal with. It ate batteries like no one's business.
Actually, I personally think a lot of consoles and handhelds, no matter their lifespan, has some gems that make it worth owning. Well, unless you're talking about the Game.com or the N-Gage or the Virtual Boy. Those three almost are blasphemy to even mention by a gamer.

Yeah, it sounds like you are pretty close to the end.
Heh I'm a lot closer now since I completed the game and saved the clear data. In any case over all I'd consider Xenosaga 2 at best an average game. Note that I said at best. The battle system is a bit more involved, but it still has too much of a luck factor and feels more tedious than fun. I especially hate the automatic 700 extra turns some of the enemies get.
The story had several interesting moments and it was good to learn more about at least some of the cast. However certain elements had me rolling my eyes. The final battle was kind of nice to be able to do. Still while it is understandable in a sense I do find it odd for one reason. Albedo's sudden return to the story came off as if Albedo suddenly remembered he's supposed to be the final boss. :sd:
So there you have it. As of current save for messing around with things like Megamari, I'm not really playing anything right now. It's a bit too early to decide what to work on next anyway. I'll probably and hopefully give myself a few days first.

I'm just glad I bought the game for $20, not $50. Even then I'm wondering if I got my money's worth, just because of the bad things I keep hearing. I know there's at least one good thing in the game, and that's Yuki Kajiura's music during the cutscenes. I love her music. I still need to play the game though.
Now that you've mentioned RPGs, that reminds me that I need to start playing FFII again once I finish FFVI Advance. However, I think I'm at least halfway through the game, probably more, so it won't take me long to beat. I need to decide what I'm going to play next.
Maybe I ought to continue playing Contact. I kinda got lost in what to do and so put it down about 2 months ago. My backlog is bad enough. I shouldn't stop games in the middle like this.

Actually, I personally think a lot of consoles and handhelds, no matter their lifespan, has some gems that make it worth owning.
In a lot of sense that's definitely true. Of course the key is giving the said console a chance to shine and then finding those titles that click with you. It's been awhile since I messed with the Dreamcast, but I did play things like Evolution, Grandia II, and Tech Romancer. I need to find Evolution 2 one of these days.
Oh yeah speaking of the Saturn the gem for me would have to be Guardian Heroes. Nicole is the awesome cleric of awesomeness. Fear her "barrier" of death. As for the N64 I have to admit Mario 64 was interesting. Although we never had the system that long. Let's just say I'm not the one that decided that. Gamegear I never really played to be honest.
As for the Virtual Boy. Err let's just say the system had me seeing red and thus I felt it was better to play other things instead. It was definitely a bleh concept. As for the N-Gage I never played it myself, but yeah I've heard about it being a very meh system.

Heh I can't remember how much my brother paid for the game, but in a sense it's funny. On one hand I'm glad to have finally completed the game, but on the other hand I don't regret how I constantly kept putting the game. Especially since a lot of the other games I put off for were better. I say a lot in case I'm forgetting about a few duds.
My backlog is bad enough. I shouldn't stop games in the middle like this.
Sadly I find the problem is often the backlog. It's because you realize you have other games to play you start to think maybe you should postpone the game you're currently working on. Yet the same situation occurs when you choose the next game. It also doesn't help that new games are constantly gotten. It's kind of fun how some new games I put off until later while others get the next slot almost instantly. Such as the way of life.
Still at least I'm getting a bit better about leaving saves dormant. The only save I know for certain that I currently have dormant is Wild Arms Advanced Third. Which was temporarily brought out of that state since I did not have access to Xenosaga 2 at the time. Since I have not decided what to play next it could continue to remain in dormancy for awhile. At least until if/when I decide it will be the next game.
Okay there is also a save I have in Dragon Quest 3 for the GBC, but I just can't get into that. Oh yeah there is also Zelda: Oracle of Ages, but I've just about had enough of the stupid cheating Goron Dance mini game and won't play it again until I find a way to get Link to roast them alive. :>

Honestly I can't remember. Even if I did, I may feel differently about it today than I would have in the past. Especially since I'm growing more used to the idea of dungeon crawlers. Even if I am playing the apparently more forgiving ones like Children of Mana, but we all have to start somewhere.
Your little pun there had my laughing. I don't know why I find bad jokes funny, but I do.
Well the nice about puns and bad jokes like that is they're easy to come up with and easy to recognize. Which is why they can sometimes be more effective than a joke that requires extensive research and study.

Alright, I'm about 5 hours or so into Jade Empire Special Edition and... I really like it. The combat feels a lot better than it did in the Xbox version... the AI isn't as stupid and the game does feel more difficult overall... which is actually a good thing. The graphics look surprisingly good especially considering that this is based on a 2-year-old Xbox game. The storyline is also pretty interesting... moreso than I was expecting, and thankfully, the dialogue is well written since there is a lot of it. Overall, it just feels like an extremely fun, well polished action RPG. I definitely intend to finish this one.
I totally pussed out at the end of this one (those who've been know exactly what I'm talking about). Astrid was the MVP, Boyd slew the boss. So I'm gaining on it. With a little perseverance, I'll put this one in the finished pile in a few days. Then it's back to Children of Mana.

I'm playing Phantasy Star Universe latly. I'm really enjoying it again. I finally got my Partner Machine to lvl 100 in TECHNIC, so I can synth some nine star A rank wands and rods with about a 50% chance. It's making me a ton of money in the game... Some days more than others depending on my luck.
ATM my characters lvl is 53, and I'm playing as a Fortetecher type, which is currently at lvl 6. So only 27 more character lvl ups to go till I hit the cap..., but I doubt I'll reach the cap before they raise it again. I'm not all that hardcore about lvl grinding in this game.
So that's it for me, other than that, because of this recent PSU addiction I haven't even played Virtua Fighter yet, or Crackdown and God of War II. I'll have to do something about this backlog I'm building...

The one that made me not finish the second city is the one out in the oil rig. I got over to the broken round stairwells and just couldn't work my jumps right in order to make it up to the top.
Unsurprisingly, that's also where I am now on the 3rd city with Wang and his tower. Made it up to the damn big yellow hanging things and fell all the way down several floors. Frustration level is growing.

I've just grabbed Splatterhouse on VC. There are a few amusing edits for anyone who knows the arcade version well - most obviously the hockey mask looking not so, well, Jason-esque, but they've removed some religious symbols here and there as well (the part at the end of the church looks really odd if you've played the original).
Still, its otherwise a pretty good conversion of the arcade version, as evidenced by the fact that I still can't get past the mutant girlfriend :sd:

I'm still playing Crackdown. The first city I cleaned up completely. The second one there was a boss I couldn't do (nor the final crime obviously). The third one, I have one boss left and then the final crime.
Yeah, I'm currently at the final boss of the second city. First city was easy enough and, once powered up enough, the second one has been too but this final guy is a complete pain in the ass.
I'm about to go to the 3rd city and do as much there as I can and hopefully be powered up enough to take on that city two boss.
It is a great game though.
The one that made me not finish the second city is the one out in the oil rig. I got over to the broken round stairwells and just couldn't work my jumps right in order to make it up to the top.

That's the one I'm on too actually. I've it and the boss to beat.
You don't actually need to get up the broekn stairwell (which also caused me a lot of trouble).
If you swim around to the back of the rig you can get up an entirely different way. Loads of enemies though.
Tried a bit of the Wang level. Lethal is all I can say. And definitely frustrating too.

Yeah, the game is damn annoying when it tries to be a platformer :sigh:
I think I might have ended up taking the oil rig all guns blazing after only managing to get halfway up the inside. Its a lot more fun than all that stealth stuff anyway.
I didn't really have many problems with Wang (I was going to ask what route you took into the building, but I can't remember if there even was more than one). Its the guy I took out before Wang (the other one in a skyscraper near to Wangs building) I had problems with - with the area he hung out in being fairly open, on a couple of occasions I got blown clean from the roof by a grenade launcher :sigh:
Still, I got my revenge in the end by kicking him off the damn building to kill him :D

Alright, I'm about 5 hours or so into Jade Empire Special Edition and... I really like it.
I want to buy this game so bad. However, I typically also don't buy PC games until they drop to $20. They drop so fast that it doesn't feel worth buying a game at retail unless I absolutely can't wait or I want a limited edition. I waited for both KotOR and KotOR2 to go $20 and that was nice. I believe it was just a mere 6 months or so after the games came out that I got them for that cheap.
Speaking of which, I noticed Fable for PC is now $20. I should go buy it. :D

Yeah, Jade Empire was $30 somewhere... maybe it was Circuit City. Well anyway, I also intend to buy Fable in the near future but unfortunately, every store near me is sold out of it except for Gamestop. They have this practice of opening shit up, removing the discs, scratching them, etc... so I'd rather not deal with that. Guess I'll have to buy it online.

God of War II is complete and the only way to describe the experience is by saying that it truly is fucking phenomenal. Without a shadow of a doubt the game of the year so far, one of the best PS2 games out there and definitely in my top 10 games ever.
The ending was a hell of a cliffhanger though. Roll on the PSP version and #3 on PS3.
Up next (although it's gonna be hard to go back to just 'great' or 'good' games after GoW2) is either Karous or EDF3. Maybe even a couple of Saturn games (Batsugun and Keio Flying Squadron 2) I bought recently.

I wish I could remember the oil rig and the tower well enough, but it was such a blur for the former at 2 in the morning. I just remember playing it through with my friend and somehow beat it.
As for Wang, my friend rushed me through that one...sort of pissed me off, to be honest, that I didn't get to experience it properly. Oh well. I tossed the bastard off the top of the tower after killing him for the shot put achievement. :D Felt good, too. :P

I'm still playing Izuna for the DS. Currently I'm in the 6th dungeon with just one more storyline dungeon after that. The 100 level dungeon that you access after beating the 6th dungeon apparently isn't part of the regular storyline.
In any case the first 5 dungeons weren't as deep as I thought as #1 is 6 floors, #2 is 6 floors as well, #3 is 11 floors, #4 is 11 floors as well, #5 is 16 floors and #6 which I am currently on is 21 floors and quite a bit harder for sure with multiple traps and harder and multiple monsters as well. So far I've made it to the 14th floor before having to return to town. The final storyline dungeon is 41 floors so that's quite a jump in levels between dungeons!
After I beat #3 I didn't die for a long time since I had plenty of return talismans but I foolishly played one session of the 6th dungeon without enough return talismans as they all got burnt up in the fire traps and and so I died and even lost one of the weapons that I had spent so much time building up by burning in talismans to raise stats - no return to storehouse talisman on that one since I had just burnt in some talismans in the dungeon. Losing the weapon/armor isn't that much of a problem but losing the LUV levels associated with it by using it multiple times does make a difference as your attack and probably defense levels increase with higher LUV levels.
Some people farm items and experience by replaying easier dungeons that they have already beaten but I'm a bit stubborn! :P One good reason to replay the dungeons is after you beat the story line of the game as apparently the bosses gain a level after you beat them so they get harder every time. In any case I think I have a good idea of how to beat the 100 level dungeon of the game after I beat the storyline by taking advantage of some of the traps.
I'll probably put Izuna on hold for a while after beating the storyline since your experience goes to zero if you want to access the 100 level dungeon. My next game will likely be Rocket Slime for something quite different.

I'm up to the second level of Uyuni Salt Lake after taking some time to go collect as many power ups and doing all the side quest stuff I could.
Just arrived at Uyuni again. I keep forgetting how much I hate this dungeon. It's the worst (very expansive puzzles, confusing solutions in order to obtain some good items, such as an almost-ultimate weapon for Mao and Frank). Since this time I'm trying to do without shop discounts (0% - I don't take charity) I don't have much to spend. I was only able to upgrade everyone's weapons and buy one new armor. I'm going to go ahead and start backtracking to earlier dungeons to pick up some hidden items and to build up some cash so I can upgrade everyone's armor before completing Uyuni.
BTW, I didn't mention this before, but I think you can only obtain about 3 of each power up item ("Seal of..."). But you can receive a few of them as battle bonuses and rare drops. In Shadow Hearts II, you could steal these with Anastasia's album skill (from boss enemies who'd drop them), but that's impossible here. :(
Also, don't use the Seal of item that increases SP on anyone but Johnny.
I won't reveal why, but you'll want Johnny to have as much SP as possible, and with 3 Seal items for SP, he should get a nice bonus of 9 SP (if you use these during battle, and get STRIKE!)

Wow...I can't imagine trying to do that! I loves my charity, at least as much as I can get (30-40% depending on how I'm hitting the other rings).
BTW, I didn't mention this before, but I think you can only obtain about 3 of each power up item ("Seal of...").

Good to know on the seals. I've pretty much been using them exclusively on Johnny. I figure he's gotta be more than just a "kid detective" and just keep waiting for them to reveal what that something more is :D
Well, that's done! My top five were Oscar, Ike, Mia, Soren, and Kieran; Astrid was my only level-20 finisher.
After playing the GBA Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, there was no way to avoid disappointment in the battle graphics on this one. The close-up fighting scenes were not just ugly but also rather slow; I turned them off after the first battle. Character movements in the 3D environments looked awkward, especially simply moving from place to place; maybe it would have been harder to make them run on a straight or curved path to their destinations, but the effort would have made the game look better than holding them so tightly to the grid. I can understand sticking to the grid in a 2D-graphics game because of the limited number of character sprites, but in a fully 3D game, it looks awful. Most of the battlefields were also quite drab. On the other hand, the story graphics and FMVs were quite excellent, and menu design was also æsthetically pleasing.
Sound wasn't anything really special — basic RPG sound effects, a small orchestra putting out the tunes. The voice acting was competent for the better part; I think the only character whose voice made me cringe was Mist. I'm still a fan of the 'silent' video games, so I was glad they kept the voices to a few key scenes rather than barf them all over the game.
The actual game flow was not terribly different from previous Fire Emblem games, which is mostly a plus. I still think that there should be a chance to save your dead characters, but I guess the sheer size of your party helps to alleviate the sting of losing a second-tier person. Still, I found myself resetting more than once to save a preferred character. Having said all that, the game's tactical engine is well designed and presents information very clearly. This game is very easy to play (though at times hard to master).
I was generally pleased with the new bits, such as the sinkholes on the bridge stage or the boulders on the mountain stage, and I hope they think to do that kind of thing more often in future games in the series. The Laguz were not a favorite part, though, for their part-time uselessness.
There isn't a whole lot extra to do in the game — less, even, than in Sacred Stones, which at least had a world map. The chapter structure is a bit confining, but it needs to be said that this game is long. I was at it for about 33 hours at the end of all, and even though I enjoyed it, I'm kind of glad it's done. This is one of the rare cases in which the hyper-linear structure of the game may actually be a good thing.
In the meantime, I don't know when or even if I'll be playing it again. Still, this game was great fun and counts as one of the great Gamecube games. Anyone who skipped the Cube but got a Wii should try to track Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance down.

Now! Back to Children of Mana!
Because you need to stare at Tamber as she whacks poor innocent creatures all over the place and even into each other. What type of player could be that cruel to such defenseless beings all for the sake of staring at a pretty girl? *Looks in mirror* Well that answers my question. Apparently I'm that type of player and proud of it. One of these days I need to get back to Children of Mana since the games claims I still have stuff to do, that I should leave no stone unturned.
In any case I'm still unsure what to play next, but that doesn't mean I'm playing nothing. Since my brother randomly handed me the DS yesterday, I decided to kill the final boss of Final Fantasy 3 again. It's too bad there's no save points in dungeons. Then it would be less time consuming to try out the various class combinations. Still there's no ****ing way I'm trying the final boss with a party of freelancers and no matter what I'll have either a Sage or a Devout. Sometimes actually both.

Now that God of War II is done, I decided to move on to Karous and, while the Dreamcast was out, start Bangaioh which I also bought recently.
Firstly, Karous. Before this was released, watching the videos of the game it looked pretty much like Radilgy 1.5 rather than a new game.
That's pretty true - the combat system is pretty much the same (A to shoot, B for sword, X for special barrier) but it works well so I can't complain.
Graphically it's similar to the cel-shading seen in Radilgy although in contrast to that games bright tones, it's mostly black and greys here but it suits the tone of the game well.
Warashi spoilt us with the amount of options and modes in Trigger Heart Exelica so the sparse modes and options here show even more than usual. There's the normal Yoko and Tate modes but no option for wallpapers or anything, unless these become available after finishing the game.
There's no real story mode either. You get little text messages every now and then like in Radilgy, but nothing like THE with it's voice acting and so on.
Overall though, the game is really nice and fairly tough (haven't beaten the final boss yet).
Another thing worth mentioning is the stunning Drum n Bass soundtrack. Shmups always need a good dancey soundtrack and, like the trance found in Cave games, the DnB here really suits the feel of the game (anyone know if a soundtrack is available? I've looked at the normal places and there doesn't seem to be one, at least not yet).
If the rumours about Sega stopping GD-ROM production are true, then this really is likely to be the last Dreamcast game (official one anyway) so it's worth picking up for that reason alone.
Like I said, I also got round to starting Bangaioh. I hadn't bought this game before are it's generally pricey and, although it's from Treasure (a sign of quality), the videos I'd watched made me think the game was a little cluttered and clumsy to properly enjoy.
At first it is pretty clumsy, especially with the default controls (the ABXY shooting option really is a must) but once I got to grips with it I've found I'm really enjoying the game.
It's got a great learning curve, great visuals and some really nice music.
I'm sure there are plenty other more sensible people here who didn't hesitate on this game - anyone have any thoughts on it?

Bangai-O reminds me of a cross between Robotron and Gauntlet. It's got a little bit of maze navigation and tons of enemies, bullets and spawn boxes to be destroyed. I wished the Dreamcast controller had a right-handed control stick for this game, but the ABXY scheme isn't completely hopeless, either. It's still great fun and the sparse story is completely insane.
I never quite finished it, though. I got stuck at the second-to-last level, which had a couple of wide-open spaces lined with spawn boxes and the boss. I'd either spend ~20 minutes clearing out the level of small enemies before being killed by the boss, or I'd rush straight to the boss and die even faster. Eventually I moved on to something else.

I've got the basic plan finally down now. The main three games I'm going to play are the following Wild Arms Advanced 3rd, Xenosaga 3, and Final Fantasy 12. Once I've finished/dropped them it will become much easier to take other games into consideration. The only thing left is deciding the exact order to play the three games in. I guess it will partially depend on just how much of a time gap I want to have between Xenosaga 2 and Xenosaga 3.
I'm definitely leaning towards at least a single game gap. Which would mean either WA3 or FF12 next. Although to be honest it's not like I can predict how long a single game gap would last. Since it's not just a matter of how long the game is, but how often/much I play. Then there is also the matter of potential for having trouble with certain areas. Perhaps even areas that others can beat simply by blinking.
Granted this plan may fall apart in the long run. However so long as I choose to complete one in the short run and finish/drop it I'll make a dent in the backlog. I guess the first question is "How much of a gap do I want between Xenosaga 2 and Xenosaga 3?" and the second is "What game(s) should fill that gap?" Well I guess if I decide on a 0 game gap then the answer to the second question is obvious.

Tough one. Taking everything into account I would say:
1. Under Defeat
2. Trigger Heart Exelica
3. Karous
Although ask me on a different day and I'd put THE above UD.
The huge amount of options in THE helps it really.
Although I think people should be buying all 3 :P

Heh knowing me I'm sure comment on what I play regardless. So yeah when the time I probably will make some comments on Xenosaga 3. Although how much and how often will be hard to say. I got round to starting yet another game today, Chikyuu Boueigun 3 AKA Earth Defense Force 3 on the 360.
Can't believe I didn't just buy this when it came out last year as this is one of the most mindlessly fun games I have ever played.
Shooting the shit out of giant ants, space ships and God knows what else FTW! And I haven't even got to the levels where you can pilot the mech/helicopter! :D
So yeah, the game comes to the US tomorrow. If you have a 360, BUY THIS!
As for me, I'm off to buy the two previous PS2 games in the series.

Okay, so I know most here aren't sports games and/or EA fans, so I'll keep this short.
This weekend I rented Tiger Woods 2007 for the Wii, because I'm convinced that golf games in the future will only be good with the Wii remote and I wanted to see how a first version game works. After a long, hard learning curve (a little harder than SSX), I remained convinced that the potential for awesome golf games on the Wii is there, if not quite perfect yet.
Pros
You can hook, slice, top spin, back spin, and use a variety of clubs, so that already makes this much more full featured than Wii Sports Golf. Plus it has all the career and arcade mode games to play, just a richer feature set. There's also something really rewarding with standing in front of the TV, whacking a 130-yard shot, and slowly watching it roll into the hole while doing some voodoo dance to the gods and yelling "GO IN BALL!!". After I got a hang of the controls, I was having a blast with each and every round. The game does a good job at creating that "feel for the game" type of play, not relying on power meters and bars.
Cons
No one-to-one control mapping. This is the one advantage Wii Sports Golf has. Instead of mapping your backswing, the character model just does the full backswing right when you start moving back. If you want to do a half-power swing, you have to start your down stroke halfway through the backstroke. It's a little touchy, and sometimes it did half-swings when I was trying to do full. Putting is also not very responsive as I'd like, so just be sure to use the practice strokes liberally. Also, you're going to have to learn how to keep your wrists straight to hit, or else suffer the slice from hell. But, this is a sim golf game, right?
Now I got better the more I played, but man, get ready to SUCK at first. 1st couple rounds I was about 40 over par total. Then I failed to make the cut for 3 straight tournaments. Now I'm in a tournament going into the 3rd day in 2nd place, and it's really starting to be a lot of fun to play.
Also, after playing about 180 holes of Wii golf over two days, I'm a little sore. :sd: (Damn, I need to get back to playing some hoops and get in shape)
Because you need to stare at Tamber as she whacks poor innocent creatures all over the place and even into each other.
I'm not the type to just kill the ugly creatures and leave the cute ones alone. Discrimination isn't going to save the Mana Tree. (Damn'd rabites, anyway. They breed more than tribbles.)
I'll say this, though, regarding the Wii-as-Gamecube: Nintendo needs to make a firmware update for two things in particular. First, where's the shim to let me use the Wii internal memory and Wii Classic controller instead of having to screw around with Gamecube accessories? And second, building off the first, why can't I hit the Wii Menu button and exit Gamecube games? Maybe they'll include those things in the DVD-enabled version of the Wii hardware?

I wouldn't bother with the first EDF, just get the second one. There's also a grid based strategy title, but I've heard it's REALLY bad.
EDF2 is supposedly coming out in Europe... one of these days. The release has been delayed a few times, but apparently still on it's way out.
After dreaming about buying a Wii for myself, I finally caved in and took a trip to Shinjuku. I couldn't believe my luck when I, after checking out Sakuraya and Bic Camera without luck, went to Yodobashi and found a line where you were guaranteed to get your hands on a Wii (they had just been resupplied)! So I got my Wii (with tears in my eyes) and a few games. :)
So far I played some sort of starting up game (with shooting games, fishing games etc) to get the feel of the control, and I really like them, though I suck at the cow race... I'm quite good at the shooting game though. I used to play some sort of shooting game with a pistol-like controller for my old nintendo, and I guess the feeling is pretty much the same. I wouldn't mind if a similar shooting game like that was released for Wii.
I also played Wii sports, and despite never being a big fan of sport games, I've become so addicted to the tennis and baseball game that I ended up with muscle pain from swinging the control too much after 2 days. :sd: I'm currently resting my poor, aching arms, but I look forward to going back to the game later. Wii is even more fun than I had imagined! The golf course isn't really my thing though and I didn't try the boxing yet. The bowling is quite fun thoug, especially if you're 2 players or more.
I also bought Zelda Twilight Princess, but I'm saving that for later. Need to get more used to the control pads first.

Well, if you go with FF12 (I've already given you my thoughts on the game) you will be investing quite a bit of time in that one, probably even if you skip any side missions. You WILL spend time grinding at some point, either for experience, license points, or money.
I'd go with Wild Arms 3. I played some of it several years ago (it is currently one of many games in my backlog which I am making zero progress on) and I enjoyed it and I will certainly play and finish it (and many others) before I finish FF12. Have you played any of the other Wild Arms games?
I was looking through a packing carton of CDs in my garage, trying to find the Flogging Molly album Within a Mile of Home, and I found …
• Brave Fencer Musashi (PSX)
• R-Types (PSX)
I thought I'd sold these before I bought my PS2 in 2000! Holy fucking cow! (Didn't find the Flogging Molly CD, though.)
Now this puts my plans into a stir. I'd meant to continue Children of Mana and maybe start up Ar tonelico as well, but now I have to think this over.
Decided to start on Ar tonelico and had a very strong Chrono Cross vibe for some reason. I think it has mostly to do with the interface, not so much from environments. Bizarre. The voice actor for the main dude sounds about 50 pounds too heavy for the role (much deeper and rougher than you'd expect from a fairly small animé guy). Still, should be an interesting time. Unless I change my mind (again) and go back to Wind Waker (the #2 best-looking Generation 6 game, behind Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door — and yes, I did factor in Fran's cleavage {fore and aft} when making that determination).

Have you played any of the other Wild Arms games?
I tried a bit of Wild Arms, but could never really get into it. I then tried Wild Arms 2nd Ignition and something about it just clicked. I think it has something to do with the Lilka factor. Also yeah battles were kind of fun. It became the first Wild Arms I seriously played and completed. I then tried Wild Arms Advanced 3rd, but had trouble getting into at the time. I wasn't feel much motivation to play it. Also the radar system felt a lot worse than Wild Arms 2nd Ignition for some reason.
Later on I played Wild Arms 4th Detonator and found it to be quite enjoyable. It helped restore my interest in the series which had been a bit lacking. Because of it I was convinced to try Wild Arms again. However I ultimately decided to just give up on the game and play Wild Arms: Alter Code F instead. Well partially because Alter Code F has Jane as a playable character. Jane is awesome. Yeah I know some will say I should have completed the original, but it wouldn't be the first time I passed on the original for a remake.
In any case part of the reason I'm reconsidering Wild Arms Advanced 3rd is because of the renewed interest in the Wild Arms series. Also to be fair to the game from what I remember at the time I was playing it I was too worried about completing my backlog. To the point it was impossible to enjoy anything. Thus another part of the reason. Granted through while I've been considering it for awhile, I have yet to truly move forward. Then again that can be partially blame on it not being the only choice.
On a side note before playing Wild Arms 4th Detonator, I would have been extremely hesitant to try Wild Arms 5th Vanguard. However now that I've completed Wild Arms 4th Detonator and Wild Arms Alter Code F, I'm now actually looking forward to Wild Arms 5th Vanguard. Granted I may still wait for it to drop to $20-$30, but regardless I'm less likely to pass on the game now.

I started watching the Tales of Phantasia anime, so I thought it would be a good time to go back and finish Tales of Phantasia for GBA. Of course it took me a while to realize where I left off (had to read a guide to get me back where I was in the game). This means I won't be playing FF VI Advance (GBA) for a while and I still need to beat FF III (DS)......

Jeese, there shouldn't be any doubt that Oblivion is a better option. Not only will it last you, much, much longer, but if the reviews for Armored Core 68 are any indication, Oblivion is also an infinitely better game. I personally love Oblivion, so I approve.

Yeah, I've tried reasoning with myself, but I know that if I walk into the store to buy one of them, I'll walk out with both of them. Besides, Armored Core review scores typically don't mean much to me, I know what I'm getting myself into.
What I SHOULD do is just wait until I finish the games I already have and pick them up when the prices have dropped. I'm sure AC4 will drop pretty fast, at least. But, that's all easier said than done.

I'm in the same position myself. I was going to preorder Armored Core 4 when it came out in Japan, but put it off, then was going to buy it a couple of months ago but decided to wait for the US version. Now that the US version is here, I feel I have no choice but to buy it :sd:
The price isn't too high so I can justify it, but I just know that it will make me order another PS3 game I've been putting off forever, Railfan, so it all adds up :P

In any case I've thought about it for awhile and I've made my decision. I'm going attempt to give Wild Arms Advanced Third a second chance. Ie continue with my (mostly) dormant save. Although I'll probably need a refresher course in some areas. At the very least I want to give it a few days and see how things go. To see how I'll feel about continuing with the game by trying to play it a bit for those few days. Assuming I actually find time to play the game. Either way I'll probably move on to Xenosaga 3 after I finish/drop/postpone Wild Arms 3. Then after Xenosaga 3 it's Final Fantasy 12 time.

For the DS:
Trace Memory
Which, while I enjoy the game quite a bit, I also find it strangely relaxing. Meaning, if I'm comfortable while playing, I start to fall asleep *laughs*.
For the PS2-
I'm playing Phantasy Star 4 and Rule of Rose.
Rule of Rose reaffirms my awareness of what a wimp I am .
Moments that would not scare other people, such as a door closing suddenly when you open it, just freak the heck out of me :sd: .

Yeah I know some will say I should have completed the original, but it wouldn't be the first time I passed on the original for a remake.
For the most part, the remake was just as good or better than the original. I recall thinking that they made one or two things much more obvious ahead of time when they were real shockers in the original, but otherwise the remake was an improvement on all fronts.
I never actually finished the first game myself. I got to Pandemonium and then my memory card (on of those off-brand cards that acted as multiple memory cards) went bad and I didn't feel like re-doing it. Ironically, I got slightly further in the remake before deciding I absolutely had to play something else that came out and have yet to actually finish the final dungeon.
I only rented 2nd Ignition for a bit and never even got to the point where all of the characters joined together. I'm going to get 4th Detonator at some point, but I don't know when.

Since I played through the first two games myself I can understand where you're coming from. Especially in terms of the second game it's fresher in my mind. Yet at the same time I look at this way. Since others "suffered" through the first two games before playing the third then everyone else is required to suffer! :> Okay granted one or both of the first two games. Then there is the worry suffering through 1 and/or 2 will make the potential player afraid to play 3.
Speaking of Xenosaga 3, I hope the break system is executed well. I'm not sure I want a situation where even with the "best" methods I have to hit the boss a millions times to break him, but if he so much as yawns I get broken just like that. Sort of like how in the first two or at least the second the boost system favored the enemy. Hooray for a thousand automatic turns. :sd:

So to make a long story short you have yet to finish a single Wild Arms game. Makes me wonder which one if any you'll complete first. In any case as stated earlier I did decide to start back on Wild Arms Advanced 3rd. As for my current position in the game. Well let's just say I recently got the "Dark Guardian" medium.
In any case I can say that so far in terms of the four leads the one I like least is actually Jet. Something about him makes me want to smack him. The other three I'm fine with. Well at least right now anyway. Still in any due to the money flow, I'm being a hesitant to upgrade my arms. Although I did give Clive a 3rd bullet, increased Virginia's gun damage, and reduced her gun weight.

Yeah, I guess that's the short version. :sd: I'll probably finish Alter Code F first since I'm right near the end. I think I'll do that after I finish Tales of the Abyss which I'll finish whenever I actually start playing video games again.
Speaking of Xenosaga 3, I hope the break system is executed well. It works fine in Episode III. They tossed Episode II's horrid system out. You no longer have certain methods you have to deal with. There are no zones and you don't have other inherent attack attributes and elements to deal with for just your basic attacks (at least not as people; the mechs still have attack attributes for their attacks). Special attacks still have those attributes (like pierce, beam, etc.) but you can usually do at least decent damage with basic attacks so you don't feel forced to use specific attacks to have a chance of winning. Most attacks will cause at least some break damage while some will do heavy break damage for lower HP damage.
Certain enemies or bosses will be much harder to beat if you don't exploit their elemental weakness (or if you attack them with something they are strong against), but that's the extent of it and its not really different from any other RPG.
Also, I don't recall the auto-boosts being much of an issue. Some bosses had counter-attacks but I dont' recall having to deal with that much with standard enemies. It only came up with a few particular bosses.

Ah so part of the strategy will be deciding when to focus on HP damage and when to focus on break damage. That sounds reasonable over all. Especially since I'm sure trial and error will give me an idea of when to do it.

True it's definitely par the course for RPGs. Thus it's something I've gotten used to over the years. Especially since I've played some RPGs where the enemies are strong or weak against certain weapons. *Watches spear do 7 points of damage to skeleton followed by Staff doing 200 points of daamge* Well whatever works.
Also, I don't recall the auto-boosts being much of an issue.
Well that's certainly good to hear. It gives me a bit more confidence in the game. Something I'll need in the future since it's only a matter of time before I play it. It's not like WA3 will last me forever.

It does a fairly good job of covering all of the main points, however I think it covers Xenosaga I+II (the DS game) version of episode I, in that Shion's brother Jin plays a slightly larger role. It's more than just simple candy. It'll make you wish Bioware wrote the newer Star Wars movies, not George Lucas.*
*The KotOR series takes place way before even Star Wars Episode I, however, just to clarify.
I just wish I could find some area's to level up...just got into the undercity. Done some fights, but not many. I'm only at level 4 atm.
That sounds about right. You can only get to level 20 max in KotOR, and you probably won't even hit level 20 by the end of the game. So levels are a bit fewer and farther in between. I liked that though. It forces you to be more creative with what you have. Plus keep in mind that you'll have more party members later. They can help you with things.

Hmm if so that would mean the DS version of Xenosaga 1 was influenced by the anime since well the anime predates Xenosaga 1+II and I believe it also predates Xenosaga II in terms of when it was release and made. Still come to think of it. The fact there was no sequel anime was probably one of the first bad signs for the series.

Anyway, as for what I'm playing. Still got lots in the backlog. I'm making my way through Digital Devil Saga 1. I think I have only one or two more areas left in which to go. One tribe left to eliminate.I think I might like this more than Nocturne. (Though Nocturne was good as well.)
I left my DS, and therefore my copy of Super Robot Taisen OG1 at my friend's apartment. (Not that I was activly playing it.) I don't know why, but I barely want to pick this one up even though I have to force myself to stop and play other games instead of Fire Emblem. Meh.
In lieu of the DS, I have the PSP. And games I have yet to play on it. I've put Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion aside for now. I was in the mood to play some Initial D... and I suck. I'm 3% in, on the second track (the first three races were on the same track) and I can't beat this guy. But I love the music, so I'm okay.

Episode III made it all worthwhile, though the fact that they had to cram an ending into those last couple hours (and you can tell) makes me cry. Almost as much as the stupid decision to remove any and all blood from the game. *cries* I didn't mind the edit or two they did for episode I, however stupid they may have been, but at least those didn't really effect anything. But in episode III, people get shot and stapped and don't bleed and one or two particular scenes are just awkward. I'm looking at the scene from the end of the first disc in particular.
It seems a lot of people (perhaps in other forums moreso than here) hated Episode I, but I thought it was pretty good overall. My main complaint (only, really) is that the attack animations for [whatever the special attacks were called] were too long and couldn't be skipped. On their own, they are fine. For attacks you use rarely use. But when the attacks you use on a regular basis last 5+ seconds... it adds up and even though it doesn't sound long, it feels long after seeing said attack for the 500th time. At least they looked cool...

Xenosaga 1 wasn't a terrible game, but more along the lines of average to me. My main gripe was withs the music in general. The lack of music being played just made things feel boring. *Rushes to battle to hear a tune* Wow the normal battle tune gets old fast. There's not even a boss tune? Aaaaah. Oh wait there is a final boss tune. Some relief in that.

Well the important thing is you now have access to an awesome game over all. Also to be honest it took me awhile to get around to the game myself. Then again at the time it was gotten, I wasn't the main one planning to play it at the time. Started Afteburner PSP tonight. I'm a big fan of Afterburner II on the Megadrive so I went into this expecting a good game, but one not quite as great as that classic.
How wrong I was. The game plays amazingly well. A lot more fluid and responsive than the MD/MCD games, although they're pretty much identical in terms of controls etc.
You have your standard guns and missiles, with Triangle being the barrel roll button. L is used to brake and slow things down and R is used to speed things up with the Afterburner.
There's a lot more customization here too with a whole range of different planes able to be bought tuned however you like.
The first plane is a bit slow but after that they're fast as hell and it's a thrillride just trying to control them which is just the way the series should be.
There's a corny story tacked on about 13 jets going missing (these are the 13 bosses which are at the end of some of the levels) but it isn't essential or anything.
Overall, this is a great update to an all time classic series and has me even more excited for the upcoming PS3/360 port of the new arcade game.

It's so long ago that I played it I honestly can't remember any more, and even then I didn't really play very much of it. I just remember being really underwhelmed. The fact that I didn't even bother to finish it probably speaks volumes for it - I even managed to finish the Xenokomi visual novel thing on Xenosaga Freaks.

Lawl, nub. I already got all the achievements. Now, the 360 release is definitely worse than the PS1 version due to the audio quality, but it's still the best game on the damn system and the first game I've bothered to get all the achievements in.... I like SOTN... a little.

So as I play Wild Arms Advanced 3rd and realize I should perhaps stock up on heal berries one way or the other.
Which I'll apparently have to do now as my supply has lowered drastically. Ie less than five as it were before I decided to repeated kill weak enemies that will hopefully more than once every 7 thousand battles drop some. In any case maybe I need to rethink how the guardians are distributed. I mean Gallows has the advantage of extension, but that's kind of costly. While Virginia has the advantage of speed. Still I'd probably want Gallows with heal. That way double healing is possible. Ie Mystic+Berry + Extension+Heal. Or maybe not.
In any case I've managed to get the Lucky Hand Medium and have yet to even attempt to figure out how to visit the next area. Especially since I'm more concerned with the heal berry thing. In any case a few comments in spoiler mode now.
Heh now I'm curious to see how far Janus' "I want to be the final boss" dream takes him. Yeah I've decided that's what I'm going to consider all of his rant about power boiling down to. Although I can't say if his dream will be realized. Since he's not the only one with a backstab stat.
Right now Virginia's father kind of annoys me. Yeah I know he has his reasons and he did help Jet out. However it would be nice if certain characters would stop playing the "I must abandon my family" card.
In any case so far I like Virginia the best. Clive would be second. Gallows would be third. Jet of course is last. This is only among the four playable characters. I'm not sure about the others right now. *Goes back to board checking and berry collection*

I noticed. I'm happy to have more members in my party now. Wookie is truly man's best friend. :D Seven hours in and I'm finaly in the swoop race. I haven't actualy tried it yet. I'm NOT looking forward to it...I hate majority of racing type games. Oh well. The game is turning out a lot better then I thought it was going to be, so a few bump's like this shouldn't be too bad.

Had the greatest craving to play some Disgaea 2, so I've been doing that this weekend while I've been at the bf's place (he's the one with the ps2, game, and my save file.)
While I'm at work during the week (with my DS), I switch between Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (on the 4th case right now) and Pokemon: Fire Red (I'm getting ready to head into Silph Co.)

On the VC I was playing Super Mario 64, the Japanese version. Or so I thought when I downloaded it off the JP VC. Turns out it's the rumble pak version, with all the changes that were made in the US version. Such as Chain Chomp's bark, A star over Mario's head when he gets a key, and even the trick to collect 1000 coins in the first Bowser stage for the green "M" is gone. I tried it myself, you can only get a MAX of 999. :( I even tried playing this with a [non-wavebird] Gamecube controller controller to try to take advantage of the rumble feature. I don't know if the rumble in my controller was broken or if you don't get a rumble on the GC controller for N64 games that have the option. When you go to download the game, it doesn't even say it's the rumble version. So in the voice of Otto from the Simpsons: "Man, that is completely false advertizing." On the bright side it's still an excellent game.
And on the DS I'm playing Custom Robo Arena. And it looks like I'm the only one playing this right now. :P

For the same reason N64 games that have controller pak features will be missing them I suspect - it would require game re-programming, which is too much effort for a VC game I'm afraid.
I suspect this means no costumes for characters if we get Bomberman 64. :(

I take it that requires the Controller Pak. I don't think any N64 game for VC could age worse than Transfer Pak games like Pokemon Stadium if that's ever offered, which I doubt. Unless you enjoy using rental pokemon. Okay, there's also Mario Golf and Mario Tennis, but I don't think too many people will care for the GB characters. And I don't think Nintendo wants to invest in making anymore primative technology compatable for their current console.

Isn't there a healing spell to pick up the slack? At a certain point you can start growing heal berries, but it's kind of a slow process too....

Yes there is a healing spell. I'm letting Gallows use it since he can extension it in emergencies. However if he extensions it he has to build back up the FP to start healing again. I tend to use the berries only under Mystic unless it's an emergency. As for growing heal berries, I've heard about a secret garden, but haven't made an effort to seek it out yet.

Consider using cremate (fire) on the Afro guy already done. Yeah I'm pass the point of discovering someone is a cosplayer and I like her first choice in terms of cosplay outfits. Thus I now have extra motivation to play the game because of her. Right now I'm in the middle of a dungeon by request of the guy who fixed the memory figure in Clive's hometown

Well in Wild Arms 3 I have now have a Sandcraft. Time to see what I can buy for it. *Takes a look* Err now I'm afraid to spend a single Dragon Fossil minus the ones I've already had to spend in the first place. At least I finally have a way to get some use of the darn things.
I now have three Zelda-type games going (based on gameplay).
• Dewprism Threads of Fate (PSX)
• Children of Mana (DS)
• Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN)
I wonder why they chose to make only the Wii version of Twilight Princess 16:9. The Cube can absolutely support it, and it was never likely that the GCN's would outsell the Wii's (especially since the GCN's is supposedly a limited pressing).

Well, I'm pretty much where I initially left off and I'm actually enjoying it this time around.
Maybe I simply wasn't interesting in this kind of game years back.
I finished the first dungeon in Twilight Princess today despite the game's linear nature precluding me from 1337ing an extra Heart Container. So far, the game is generally fair about enemy locations and quantities, which is a good thing because the L-lock business is finicky. I'm really digging the Gale Boomerang, though. Very cool device. Earned me a few instant kills from dropping land-based enemies in the water. (You don't get hearts or Rupees that way, unforunately …)
I won't say I like the look of Twilight Princess as much as Wind Waker because the latter is so stylish and awesome, but the new one's pretty. I think Dewprism and Children of Mana will, again, find themselves on the back burner.

I think she's focused on world domination and, therefore, doesn't have time to cry. Anyway, I have so many video game girls crying over me that I have to blow-dry the PS2 before switching it on, so one or two more won't hurt anything. Well to be fair I shouldn't blame Rue for how restrictive his monster changing ideal is. I'm probably just bitter that every time I tried to choose a form for a dungeon, I was always forced to drop it unless it was a required form. Still you're right both characters have their good points. I just felt a bit mean at the time.
In any case at least now I have the Secret Garden in Wild Arms Advanced 3rd. So hopefully that will help a bit. Heck maybe after the current dungeon, I'll just mess arond until I get a decent supply of items (especially revive fruit because the stupid revive spell only restores me with 1 HP). Heck I mainly came on to the computer to check an FAQ to see how the Garden work.

Once again Wild Arms Advanced 3rd proves there is nothing more frustrating in an RPG than travel by sea or in this case sand. Took forever to find the Nidhog Pass (East). I do mean forever. :sd: At least Virginia finally has a second tool. I kept wondering when she'd get one. Too bad the apparent price I have to pay for my progress is having Virginia with an empty vitality guage. Hopefully it won't be too long before that problem goes away.
In any case at least I've been making a decent amount of progress in the game compared to the last time I attempted to play the game. Although I definitely still have a lot left to do. That much I'm certain of. I just need to figure out what I should being doing next. Not that I've really attempted to.

Since GG is never gonna get a damn sequel, yeah, I need to play that game.
Finished the Goron Mines stage in Twilight Princess, doing most of my damage against the boss with exactly one-fourth of a Heart left (out of 5). I think that the Wii Remote may have an advantage over the Wavebird in one area in particular, which is aiming the Hero's Bow. There's no reticle and you can't L-lock in the Gamecube version.
On the other hand, I did the Bow demonstration in Kakariko Town and hit the pole next to Talo on my first try. So who knows? But it's definitely tricky to use the Hero's Bow in the middle of a fight.

One of the fun parts to that game was facing the boss that included a remix of the boss tune used for the Wily Stages in the first game. Ie the whole Shadow Devil thing as it does give a nostalgic feel. Too bad X6-X8 ultimately killed my interest. Still it will be interesting to see how X and Zero compare for you. Assuming you do end up trying both over time.
In any case due to a relative visiting for a week, I probably won't be playing much during the week. I guess I can't take advantage of the situation and use this an excuse to take somewhat of a break for a bit. I'll just have to see how things go.
Too bad X6-X8 ultimately killed my interest.
I think it wasn't until X7 that I lost interest, in part because the Nightmares in X6 were cool. (Still, to this day, the only Megaman X game I've finished is X4. The original series was overall awe-all, not just awesome.)

I think it wasn't until X7 that I lost interest, in part because the Nightmares in X6 were cool.
The problem with X6 is the game felt like it was thrown together in five minutes. It had to have one of the worst controls in Megaman history. Then X7 introduced 3D which wouldn't have been so bad if it was more properly introduced. It felt tacked on for the sake of having 3D. X7 was the last one I completed. X8 was a rental and ugh the game just felt rigged even early on and if I remember right the control was a bit off to me.
So yeah X8 was the final straw. Of course the reason I mention X6 is because that is when the downward spiral started. While X7 just increased had us continue on the dark path. Then of course X8 pushed us off the cliff because it's sadsitic.
The problem with X6 is the game felt like it was thrown together in five minutes.
It might feel that way because Infaune (the creator of the MM series) never intended for it to be made. :sd: It was built completely without his supervision. From a Play interview a while back:
Another difficulty arose when it came to continuing the X series after the fifth installment, which Inafune had planned to be the end of the saga. "I was originally planning on ending the series at around X4 or 5," Inafune reveals. "I really expected that to be the ending. And so I was all happy... 'OK, done with X5. That series is now closed off, now let's start Zero. I'm really excited to start the Zero series.' Here's Zero, you know, he's (X5 spoiler)kind of dead, and you power him up and he comes back to life, right? In my mind, in X5, Zero died. And so I'd always planned to make Zero come back to life in the Zero series, but then X6 comes out sooner from another division and Zero comes back to life in that, and I'm like, 'What's this?! Now my story for Zero doesn't make sense! Zero's been brought back to life two times!'"
I liked X6 and X7 (haven't played X8 yet)... but I tend to be pretty forgiving of games with Zero in them. :)
Edit: put spoiler tags on the interview, just in case...
As of this Thursday, I'll have been playing Final Fantasy XI for two years. And finally, I'm just 8k xp away from the level cap of 75. :neko: So much has happened since I logged on for the first time... Aaah, I'm so excited!
Once I actually do hit "endgame", my first priority is hitting Rank 10 and gettin' one of these (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Windurstian_Flag) (and hopefully soon, one of these! (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Federation_Aketon))
Also, I just started raising a chocobo. The thing to remember about Evokers is they randomly choose between two different versions of a summon skill. One of the better onces is Ifrit because it either does damage or heals.
Bards are awesome. Yes the effect of each song only lasts two turns. However their songs are preemptive and thus they always go first. Besides the positive status effects harps you have two rather special ones.
The dream harp will restore HP to all members. During boss battles this may not mean too much, but for normal battles it's good for conserving other methods of healing while trying to keep your HP.
The Lamia Harp does damage based on the remaining HP of the enemy. The higher the bard level the better the percentage. Thus if you stick with you can be doing quite a bit of damage to stronger enemies and hey if starts doing less damage that's a sure fire sign the HP of the enemy is lowering. *Does 9999 to all parts of the final boss repeatedly*
Trust me Bards are aweome so long as you remember they're supposed to sing. Don't have them do normal attacks. Scholars are rather nice too. Especially if you make use of a Thief to steal attack items that the Scholar will use to smite his or her enemies. In other words in Final Fantasy 3 you can draw magic in an indirect sense.

Ah yes I've heard about that and it does help to explain a lot of the problems. Well at the very least why it felt problematic. Still playing Shadow Hearts: From the New World of course. I've gotten to The Gate, which leads off to the end of the game. Before doing that, though, it is now time to finish all the side quests, of which there are many, so that I can get the good ending. :-) A rather sad and interesting twist there with who Lady is and about Johnny's past (with a nice little little tie in to the other Shadow Hearts games).
Current Play Time: 29 hours, 41 minutes
Level: 32 for unused characters, 36-38 for the rest
So I took on the giant bug in the Lanayru region in Twilight Princess, and (as is becoming standard in boss battles) I had fewer than 1 full Heart remaining when I won. The warp zone trios are not nearly as difficult as they used to be, now that I'm becoming used to fighting as a wolf, but the bosses remain tricky regardless of form. So now I'm going to explore a bit in the area and see if I can find some Heart Containers before I take on the next dungeon. Also have to find the zombie wolf warrior and learn the new technique now that I'm myself again.

Oh yeah, I definitely intend to have Refia be a bard and sing her heart out :D It's just that, right now I'm (FF3 spoiler)at the point where Goldor (or whatever his name is) has tied up my ship, and I have to go through the sewers in search of Levigrass shoes.
So I only have the Madrigal harp (the one that casts protect) and Arc has zero summons (I hear there's a town later where I can buy them..?). So really, those two will be severely gimped if I switch them now :( As soon as I can get 'em better equipment though, it's changin' time.
That's an interesting way to think about Scholars, too... An early version of the draw system.. :neko:

Did you enter the Gate yet? Some sidequests require that you enter the dungeon and then walk out first.
If not, heavily prepare yourself for an "honorable" sentry who won't allow you to interfere with Lady's desires.
I'd recommend your party have "Spikes" equipped (evil "Red Gravity" will lower stock).
I owned that sentry last night. With an ultimate 4-member combo. The final member, Awaker, dealt 3600 damage with "Shock Max" Combo Magic. :)
I'm also doing sidequests now, but I'm really trying to get ALL enemies to drop their item drops for my library completion quest. I plan to do EVERYTHING so it will take a while.
There's a lot of easy stuff you could get out of the way too.
Easily acquired ultimate items:

Been avidly playing DDR SuperNOVA recently.
I finally nailed Fall Out Boy's Dance, Dance on Basic. Raised my original "E" to an "A" this morning. I'm now addicted to playing that song. It provides quite a work-out. I was able to "cheat" on my diet a little this morning (I was starving!) thanks to it.
I lost over 40 lbs. within three weeks, and it's gotta have something to do with DDR, as it didn't happen until after I got myself a new dance pad three weeks ago.

If you're planning to take the Bard and especially the Evoker on an actual mission then yes switching now would be a bad idea. So yes it is far better to wait until you can buy a few summons. At the very least the Bard has the advantage of access to a harp. However if you're just planning to gain a few job levels to get them up to speed while doing the classic "walk around town, go to Inn, save, rinse and repeat" then doing a temporary switch may not be such a bad idea. Especially if you say only switch one or two members at a time to a new class while the other two or three rely on their more experienced classes as a safety net.
In past conversations about leveling up Jobs at another board I talked about trying to balance the Job levels I was told not to worry too much about it. That the only real goal to concern yourself with is getting the classic to level 30 or so. Obviously the class will continue to improve after that, but that's the point most if not all classes become viable.
Oh cheap trick for you. Job levels are based on actions. In short if you defend for a round that counts as an action. If I remember right it takes 5-7 actions to get a job level up and you can get one per battle. So if you're evil enough you can level up any class in 99 battles or so. Plus rely on weaker enemies. Hmm I wonder what a low level party with level 99 Jobs would be like.
One of my favorite things to do in FF3 and games with the Job class system is impose the simple restriction of only one character per class. For example in my case only Refia was allowed to be a Scholar and thus if I used her a Scholar during battle I could not take advantage of other classes she had access to to based on my self imposed rule.
It also helps with the magic system. See Luneth being the only Black Mage and Magus is filled with Black Magic spells. Refia as the White Mage and Devout has all White Magic. Ignus as the Evoker and Summoner has all Summons. While Arc is filled with a mixture since he's the Red Mage and Sage. Everything works out perfectly.

I finally finished Resistance last night, and as someone who doesn't play a ton of FPSes, that was an incredibly fun game.
Now it's time to really tackle Gundam Musou. I'd played through Amuro's storyline in official mode last month when I first got the game, but I've made a vow to only play one game at a time this generation.
So I took out the boss of the Lakebed Temple (that was a fun stage), and I feel like I'm finally starting to get the handle on this L-lock fighting system for the first time since I picked up (and put down) Ocarina of Time. It was pretty freaky when the boss shot up out of the orifice at the bottom of the tank, though.
Then I went to the Castle and met with The Twilight Princess — and we all know how that turns out — and moved on to get the Master Sword. I have 9⅕ Hearts, and that's enough for now because I had 3 Hearts remaining when I finished off the Lakebed Temple boss, which means I now have a cushion!
Only thing is, I've tried and I've tried but I can't pull off that rolling back attack thing (Skill #3) except by accident. The only time I've nailed it was in the fight with the zombie warrior. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Did you enter the Gate yet? Some sidequests require that you enter the dungeon and then walk out first.
Yep, I went in, watched the scene, then left LOL
So far I've picked up Johnny's best armor and weapon. Hilda's last two Weekly Arts and her best weapon. Mao's best weapon and his next Cat Touch power up (the Pat Morita cat). Shania's best armor. Frank's best armor. I finished off my less session back at the Lovecraftian Combat area where he had six new challenges for me. I completed two of them, and used the change to get multiple snaps for some of the boss monsters for trading :D
I got a long way to go on the steps yet...I think I was at 4000-5000 when I checked. I went quite aways after first getting it not realizing it wasn't equipped to an active party member :(

Welcome to the darkside my child. With a proper diet and decent amount of play time, you'll get in good shape. I know I was an out of shape slob before I started playing.
If you can, try to grab a copy of ITG. IIRC, you can't technicaly buy it from stores, but I'm sure you can find copies online somewhere. Get it for when the time comes that ten's don't do it for you anymore. Might be awhile, but believe me, if you play often enough, the time will come.

Cobalt Flux (http://cobaltflux.com/site/main.html). Basically they're the best home DDR platforms out there.
They also cost a whopping $300 a piece, but if you're a heavy DDR player it's worth it. The other kinds of DDR pads wear out fairly quickly if you play it a lot. I'm a small, barely over 100 lbs female but I could wear out a standard Konami pad in less than 6 months. When my, ah, large friends got into DDR they wore out even faster. No one can break the Cobalt Fluxes.

First timer to the thread, how y'all doin'. XD
Ever since Christmas, when my sister surprised me with a copy of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, I've been on a Nippon Ichi binge. After logging over 100 hours in Disgaea (and a level 6003 Laharl) I got Disgaea 2 and enjoyed that as well, though it's not as ... charming as the first one was. Still very awesome though. I just recently found a copy of La Pucelle and am now plunging through that.
I've also recently gotten Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii. I'll make this one easy.
Cons: It's not the greatest Sonic game ever
Pros: It's not a broken Sonic game (see 360/PS3 Sonic)
Also I've taken to replaying Shenmue II again (Euro Dreamcast version FTW). Still a beautiful game, screw these next gen systems! XD Once I finish this one I'm breakin' out the Saturn and playin' NiGHTS again to celebrate the announcement of the new NiGHTS game for the Wii! X3

Hallelujah, holy shit! I figured out what I was doing wrong! You have to hit the A button twice to get the roll that leads into the back attack thing.

If you do seriously save up for a Cobalt Flux, make sure you buy the arcade mod (https://www.cobaltflux.com/sunshop/index.php?action=item&id=16&prevaction=category&previd=2&prevstart=0) with it. The mod gives it a arcade feel, and makes navigating the pad a lot easier. Plus you wont suck as much when/if you go to the arcade, since they are about the same (except Flux's are more sensestive).
Heh. ^^;; I'm always excited when someone new wants to enter the realm of rythm games. :neko: Especialy when it's given them positive health benifits like me. :D

Hopefully soon I'll able to get back to playing Wild Arms Advanced 3rd normally again soon. The earliest I expect that to happen would be Sunday. Although I did manage to move forward a bit. Currently I'm in the area where Clive's Professor apparently met his end for the first if not last time.
I'm not sure what to think about the whole "we just awakened/revived this demon dude" aspect of the plot. Sure one should have been expecting some sort of demon to appear and well the three prophets in question did get an err upgrade because of it. However I'm kind of worried that they'll go from major antagonists to reoccurring bosses. Still at least they had their time in the sun. I guess I'll just have to get used to the new guy. Also so much for Janus' final boss desires. That didn't last long.
In any case if there is one thing I seriously need it's a much better healing spell. It looks like "heal" isn't going to cut as much anymore. At least not in boss battles. At least I've learned Clive is the best for the revive spell. Since he often goes last and Virginia often goes first. Well Clive can revive and Virginia can heal in the next round. Saving "revive fruits" for boss battles and the like.

I'm playing Xenogears right now and loving it. :neko: As painfully slow as I am with RPGs, I'm sure it'll take me a long time to finish it. My only gripe at this point isn't related to the game per se--every once in a while the screen blocks up and the music winds down. I can't tell if it's a problem with the game (disc seems okay) or with my PS2... oh well.

Heh no matter how long it takes you to finish a game, you can always take comfort in the fact someone else has yet to start on it. The real fun is when one leaves a save dormant for over a year or in some cases several before finishing a game.
Either way at a certain point Xenogears will start to improve quite a bit so since you already love it then you have plenty to look forward to. Granted the main improvement for me came from the introduction of certain characters that helped make it more interesting.

Hmm I don't remember that happening while playing the game on the PS2. Maybe it has something to do with that smooth texture option the PS2 has for PS1 games or whatever it was called. I can't really be sure and it's not like I can check right now since the PS2 is kidnapped right now aka being used by someone else. For the record I was playing on a slim PS2.

Since I finally got a Wii, I'm now playing the copy of Legend of Zelda: Twlight Princess I bought a couple months ago. I'm glad I held out for the Wii version, because I am having way too much fun using the Wiimote when sword fighting.
On Tuesday, I'm picking up Super Paper Mario, so I'll probably abandon Zelda to play that game alongside my friend in Washington, who is getting her copy then too. Then, with my next paycheck, I plan on getting Cooking Mama for the Wii since I have the DS version already.

It depends on how far I get into Zelda before Tuesday - which probably won't be very far. Right now, I'm still right at the beginning and I'm still getting the basic equipment, mainly because it took me two hours last night to catch two stupid fish. *grumble, grumble* If I get a lot further, I'll probably stick Paper Mario in the stack.

The only thing that would make this statement better is if the words came directly out Mario's mouth instead and it looked like he was ready to score. :> Granted through the result would be Peach, Daisy, Paulina, and whoever else telling Zelda the truth about Mario. Sort of on this topic, Peach has been the hero in several games now (Mario 2, Mario RPG, Super Princess Peach, Super Paper Mario), but the most Zelda's done is stand there with a sword, doing nothing in particular, at the start of Twilight Princess. When does she get her 'hero' game? And when she does, will she do like Peach and wear the gown? Or will she get something skin-tight and :bignosebleed: like Samus after the good ending?

Its actually a good idea. There hasn't been any reason why her name is in the title, she has done nothing but was "born special" and has knowledge of the master sword. The game should be named, the Legend of Link. She should earn her name, so a videogame where she does the saving should be in order.

Actually in a couple other games....Okay, I'm NOT going there. But in addition to Zelda doing something, I just thought I'd pinpoint in Wind Waker she did assist Link with the light arrows in the final battle. But that's still not enough.
I do agree that Zelda should star in her own game, it just depends if Miyamoto-san or if another party company wants to do it. Most likely Capcom. :P

Just thought I'd update.
In Fire Emblem 10 HM, I'm up to chapter 3-3. Okay, Rolf died in the previous chapter (didn't want to restart and everyone was getting excellent growths) and Ike just got wiped out. Aside from that this is easy, even for hard mode. Well part 3 is the easiest and I beat part 2 in a day. I dunno whether if I should feel victorious or dissapointed. Only Micaiah's chapters were on the difficult side.
It just leaves me wondering if NOA will keep N/H/M modes this time and just label them under E/N/H, considering it's not that hard.
Last I wonder how far I'll make it in this game because once I get my hands on Super Paper Mario, this game is going on hold for a while. Not to mention by the time I finish that I'll probably have Pokemon Diamond at that point. Not to mention I still have to transer my XD and JP emerald pokemon into my ENG fire red. :P

I beat Pokemon Ranger today, including all of the extra missions. So now I've got my Manaphy egg all ready for when Pokemon Diamond and Pearl come out. :D
I'm feeling an itch to play another portable game but I don't know what. I'm trying to resist FFIII until I beat FFII. We'll see how long that lasts.

You know what you need? A Generation-7 Kid Icarus game. That way you could get upskirts of Pit in his little toga. And for the rest of us, the game needs to come with a mirrored shield accessory so we don't have to look directly at Medusa.

I tried taking a break from playing PC games and focused on the 360 again...only to get the damn red ring of light yet again. :tired: The first time I unplugged it for about 30 minutes, and it worked again. I tried playing EDF2017 today, and got as far as a cutscene, and it locked on me.

Everyone has flaws. :P He's in the last movie though, and I really like his role in there even though the manga version is funnier.
Speaking of video games, the last manga series that finished up back in 2005 was originally planned as a video game and it's really apparently in the first couple of volumes as various characters are introduced, the party assembled, and things like that.
That's also another video game that I'm trying to play when I have time - Slayers Wonderful for the PSOne. It's the second Japanese video game I played, but in the case of the Sailormoon: Another Story RPG, I found a fan translation of it so I could understand what was going on in the game. This one is pretty easy to understand, but it does test the language skills. But that's been shuffled to the side for Zelda, Mario, etc.
I'm tempted to take my credit card and hit up the Virtual Console today, because I dearly love the first Zelda game. First game I ever defeated at the tender age of 7. :neko:

Actually Gourry is quite a bit smarter in the Slayer novels which are very fast lite reads. They are told from Lina's perspective though so that that as you will!

No, I'm committed to Zelda now. Sorry, Peach, but my princess is in another castle.
*snicker* That's great.
Hey! Link is fanservice for us girls who long after hot-looking guys to drool after in video games. He's sexy in Twilight Princess! I mean, Mario just doesn't cut it and no one has been smart enough to do a next-generation Slayers game so I can die over how hot Gourry would look.

It's easily the most addictive game that I've played for sure. Well worth tracking down as it sells out very quickly. I was lucky enough to be on good terms with the local Gamecrazy so I was able to pick up a copy on the release date even though I didn't preorder it. They only got two copies in that day.

I'd like to play this game.... but then again I haven't played #3 yet either. ;)
Just got Ridge Racer 6 the other day for the Xbox 360 so I've been playing that. So far the game has been pretty fun, though it (literally) starts off kind of slow until you gain access to the class 2 and 3 machines. W/ those things you can just rip through the tracks, and it's classic RR all the way. :D
Anyone else still playing this one online though? Because I'm up for a good match, plus I could use the extra cars. ;) All in all I'd say that this is the best RR since RR4 on the original Playstation, which is saying an awful lot.

Okay then let's see here in Wild Arms 3, I've reached the point of learning about the teardrop. I had no idea where the heck I was supposed to go. So err I decided to become a collector of guardian statues. I managed to get two of them. Wolf which I'll call "B" and Dragon which I call "A". Now A resulted in boss A who was freaking annoying. Yeah I admit it I checked in FAQ in part to find out I over looked the obvious. Still boss B as a result of B was a joke in comparison. Which seemed kind off odd to me unless B was meant to be a joke to make it easier to deal with A, C, and D. Wherever the heck C and D are.
In any case now for the big question. Can I ignore the blasted Sandcraft forever now that I have the flying machine? Or will I still be forced to make use of the thing? If I have to make use of it then I need to figure out a way to get the Sandcraft and the flying machine both near Jolly Roger to make things simple. If that's even possible that is.

Gourry's competition for Lina! That's the problem. Then again it's debatable how much competition he is. There is also the matter of who's brave enough to pursue Lina. Hmm maybe I'm jumping the gun on this being a negative.

The fourth dungeon was a serious pain in the ers, but using the spinner against the boss was fun! Unlike previous bosses, though, this one never put me into serious danger. The dungeon was far more dangerous.
I tried, also, to take the water to the Goron outside of Castle Town, but I can't get past the last line of Leevers. There's not enough time to set down the water barrel and draw them away. I don't know if there's a trick to getting it done, so I've put that side quest aside for the time being.

The trick is to always make sure that Link's footing is goofy before you launch at the boss. (Goofy = right foot forward.) It takes some work, especially if you're dodging the spike things, but it's highly effective.
I wonder if anybody will actually believe that horseshit?

I think it's awesome that you thought you needed to explain what "goofy" meant. But, of course, it's just horseshit. I was getting really bored with the dialog at the beginning and it was initially a huge turn off from playing the rest. Once you start world 1-1, the dialog isn't so bad and the game slowly grows on you. I'm currently at 2-1.

My shiny pink DS owns my soul :D I'm playing Final Fantasy III, Cooking Mama, tons of Puzzle Quest, and still spending at least a little time with Nintendogs. I'm almost done with FFIII/DS - just finished Eureka. I haven't quite settled on my final party... I've definitely got a Devout (so cute ^_______^), Sage, and Knight, but for my second fighter I'm still debating Black Belt vs. Dark Knight. I prefer BB, but DK seems to hold up a bit better in boss fights, so I may stick with that for the end game stuff.
Way down on my 'what-shall-I-play-today' list, I'm also slowly working through Xenogears. I thought I was close to the end of disc 1, but looking at a plot summary, it seems like I've still got quite a ways to go for that. I've enjoyed it, but I'll also be glad when I get to the end. I think I've answered my question about whether I'd be interested in Xenosaga :sd:

I personally went with Geomancer, Devout, Bard, and Warrior the first time myself. Still in reality so long as you have a dedicated heal and use the other classes properly it may not matter that much in the long run who you have.
Black Belt's main claim to fame is the ability to stock for higher damage which is nice, but I'm not sure just how much benefit there is to stock then attack as opposed to attack twice. I'll have to check that later. Either way it's not exactly a class I found to be that special myself.
Dark Knight's special attack is good for normal battles and can be nice for multi-target bosses, but losing HP at that point can be risky depending on level. So in reality DK may come out as just another fighter if you decide to avoid it. Although it's defense would be a bit better than Black Belt if I remember right.

I rarely if ever use my fighters' specials, so I'm mostly concerned with stats and equipment - DK is attractive for me now that I've got a second set of crystal armor and masamune. I should also say that I'm almost as concerned with having a party that's aesthetically pleasing as with it actually being effective. Silly, I know, but I won't use a job if I don't like its outfit. I could do something completely different too - a Dragoon might look good, although I've never been a fan of Jump (outside of Tactics, which is a completely different story).

Well there are times it's better to just attack anyway. Still the most important equipment may be the four ribbons in the final dungeon. As for stats I can't say for certain, but keep in mind you're looking at both magical and physical defense.
I should also say that I'm almost as concerned with having a party that's aesthetically pleasing as with it actually being effective. Silly, I know, but I won't use a job if I don't like its outfit.
Honestly there's nothing wrong with that. So long as one of your members is a healer. Granted the tough part can be having enough staying power for the entire dungeon. Although with each boss you beat you will get restored and the actual final dungeon isn't that long. About the only way you could go wrong is if you decide to head straight to the final battle and skip the sub-boss battles. Simply because it's impossible to defeat the final boss that way.
I could do something completely different too - a Dragoon might look good, although I've never been a fan of Jump (outside of Tactics, which is a completely different story).
Actually if you were to switch to Dragoon, I'd recommend using Jump anyway. Since it does do at least double damage, you're not really losing out by making use of it. Plus you will end up avoiding some attacks. In case you're wondering yes Jump damage is effected by row. In short jump from the front row for more damage.

Man... this game is REALLY strange... I mean, even more than the one for the Gamecube.
Apparently, it's played like a 2D scroller, but you can turn the game into "3D"...
The funny thing is that the "3D" view of the game is deemed as a "different dimension" giving you the impression that the people in the game only understand reality as a 2D side-scroller...
It's friggin' surreal and unusually thought-provoking (?!), when you think about it like that.
That said, it's great, but not as charming as Thousand Year Door for the GC (given that that game had a TON of variety)...
Oh, and there was a HUGE PARAODY about OTAKU in the game... it's easily the most I've laughed at a videogame in years.
No, really... its accuracy in regards to its portrayal is incredibly alarming.

All right I finally have a complete collection of Guardians in Wild Arms 3. Although deciding who gets what guardian can be a headache. Still I suppose a cheap trick would be to let Virginia have Cosmic Clog and the personal skill force charge. *Tests it out* Ah good so I'm not restricted in my options while Time is froze. Summon Chronos, defend to gain 25 FP, use full carrot, use healing/restorative item, use other if need be, and finally whatever. This could be good for emergencies. You must escape from this dark path while you still can. Other wise the end result is not only a headache, but losing any sense of being able to decide what to play. I speak from personal experience of how annoying this is. I definitely regret the mistake of trying to play too many games at once. That's proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy (to borrow a phrase from Ben Franklin, who was also correct when he used it to refer to beer).
Yeah, that's where I saw it.... complete with a plastic bat and ball. I looked up the game on Gamespot and it doesn't seem to be getting good reviews, so I wouldn't actually go out and get the game. It just amused me when I saw it in the store today. ;)

In Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn "hard" mode I got as far as chapter 3-7. I'm stopping there because I want to play this new game I got.
I'm currently on level 1-2 in Super Paper Mario. Very long prolouge I thought would never end. The 2D/3D is cool and really feels like an old Mario game. I just don't like holding the Wiimote sideways. I would have prefered the classic controller and use the wiimote when you point at the screen.
BTW, I'm currently typing this post on my Wii. :P

I finally started Super Paper Mario on Wednesday and I'm at the point right before I start Chapter 2 and have just picked up a new addition to my party. I'm really liking the game, because for me it's combining the best of RPs with platformers. At first, I thought I was going through chapters 1-1 through 1-4 too fast, but then when there was a lot of exposition and action between main chapters, it definitely reminded me of the last Paper Mario.
I really hope that the original Paper Mario comes out via Virtual Console soon!

I would not be surprised if in general they decide to give the Mario titles much higher priority in part due to how popular Mario is. So despite having never played it, I'm confident you'll see Paper Mario for the Virtual Console soon.
So I uncovered the secret (to everybody) of getting the hot springwater to the old Goron, which is, I stayed all the way on the edge of the field, only entering one Moblin's attack range and never seeing a Leever the whole way through. It was just a little bit sad, that I had so much trouble with this side quest when there was such an easy solution.
Up next? I'm finding more bugs for Agitha so I can afford the Magic Armour, and then I go back to the Yetis' Mansion to finish that stage. I still have to get three pieces of the Twilight Mirror, so I certainly have a way to go, but I'm only about 30 hours in, so there you are.

All right that's that I've finally managed to completed Wild Arms Advanced 3rd. Before anyone asks yes on occasion and especially near the end I did start resorting to Final Arts or as I call it "Fine the battle's gone on long enough just die already!". People weren't kidding when they said the final boss and its multiple forms was excessive.
In any case over all I'd say the main problem with the game is the extremely bleh start and it feels kind of slow. However it does improve with time and does become a lot more interesting. At the same through some of the stuff does come off as rather silly and corny, but then again that's apparently required to be a Wild Arms games. Just as the world is required to be a wasteland. Although with the way the story is set up it feels less like one continuous story and more like separate events tied together. Ah it's kind of how it goes It's the Evil Prophets. No wait it's the Blue Menace. Yet in the end everything can be blame on a brat. What?
In terms of the characters and their abilities I noticed one thing. I rarely if ever made use of Accelerator. More often than not Jet was fast enough that it made no difference. Even taking into account that often Virginia went before him I saw no real point to it. In contrast Mystic, Extension, and Lock On got a lot of use.
I'm not sure what to think about the ending. It's not that what they actually showed was terrible, but rather that the ending was lacking in content. It feels like it should been longer. In other words it needed more scenes if you ask me. In short it's underwhelming due to being on the short side.
Final thoughts are I kind of wish that Maya had been playable or at the very least she could have had more forms to switch to. I mean seriously you only get to face at most three versions of her and that includes the normal one.
Enough of that. Either way it's time once again for the break period however long that will be. Unless I change my mind by the time the break period is over the current plan is to play Xenosaga 3 next. Although I may mess around with other things during the break period. The whole let's kill a random final boss thing for no apparent reason other than I'm evil.

That's half the fun!
Just as the world is required to be a wasteland.
More with each game, even! We didn't even get open water this game. I'm afraid when I get around to 4, they won't even have air.

Doesn't the fastest character always end up with accelerator? What's up with that?

Yeah, needed much more Maya. Also there needs to be Maya/Virginia yuri fanfic, because they totally had this "You're so annoying I want to rip off your clothes" thing going on. No, really. Uh, I guess that's not really related to your point. How 'bout that Armenguard, eh?
