I can't wait to tend levels full of Nightopians once more - and occasionally send them to their doom when they get in my way. I hope they'll use the system clock to add lots of season-specific levels too, ala Christmas NiGHTs.

If they do that would people be willing to wait for the said season to actually come up? Or will they instead mess with the system clock if they can?

April fools joke anyone?

If it were a screenshot or a article, I'd say yes.

But on the cover? A cover they posted on their own website? A cover they posted on their own website, then had to backtrack on their website a bit and replace the NiGHTS character with his siholette? And in addition, the UK Nintendo Magazine also seemed to be implying they'd be revealing a new NiGHTS game in their April issue.

Somehow, I doubt they could go this far just for a 'joke'. People would completely disown their magazines.

This also the magazine that leaked the first information and screens of HALO 3, and that proved to be completely legit.

My problem with this is that Naka isn't working on the property and given Sega's recent track of releases, especially in regards to Sonic Team, I'm more nervous than anything else.

While I would like to see a Nights sequel, I'd rather see no sequel instead of a bad one.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but whatever happened to the sequel to Yakuza on the PS2? Did it come out yet? Because the original was one of the best games to come out of Sega in a loooooong time.

But man, I have a lot of fond memories playing the original on the Saturn. I still remember the old commercial Sega used to run, "Prepare to fly fluid and free, in real-time 3D." Ah, the memories. And back then all the game mags were going on about the big holiday "showdown" between Sony's Crash Bandicoot, Nintendo's Mario (64), and Sega's NiGHTS.

The good 'ol days.

QFT. I sympathize with you Wiir's. Just look what Sega has done to Sonic. Nights was always this beloved Sega gem. I do hope for a lot of people's sakes they don't taint it with a shitty one.

Wouldn't that be a good thing, especially with his recent history at Sega? :>

While I'm a huge Phantasy Star fan, come on. The last slew of Sonic games haven't been great and things like Billy Hatcher flopped. I love Sonic, I love Phantasy Star, but you have to call a spade a spade.

It came out in Japan back in December. I haven't heard anything about a Us release which is a shame. Given that the Ps2 is on it's last legs, I'm not holding out much hope.

Did you read the article I posted? Sonic Team suffered major losses after Sonic Adventure 2 (their best 3D Sonic title). The rest of the personnel started dwindling after that so it's not a surprise the quality of their titles haven't been so good.

Like I said before, I'd rather have people who worked on the first title make the second one. If no one who was primarily involved in the original title is working on the second one that doesn't necessarily bode well (especially regarding a classic, arguably ground-breaking game like Nights).

Bottom line - I would've felt better to at least have Naka at the helm of a Nights 2.

I agree with you on that and wasn't entirely getting what you were saying. So we're on the same page their. I thought you were trying to be an apologist for the slew of decent to mediocre Sonic games that we've had over the years.

If Nights 2 does end up being poorly received then that will probably kill the chances for a third one in the future or if you prefer far future. Still all one can do is wait and have reasonable expectations.

Disclaimer: Reasonable does not mean pretending that Nights healed the sick and cured cancer. It also does not mean expecting Nights 2 reveal the meaning of life. *Realizes few out there will listen*

I do believe it says that there will be a 2-player mode with online support. It's also exclusive to Wii.

Hmm the images give the indication they are going to try and retain the feel of the first game. As opposed to making drastic changes. Of course the real key comes to how well it works with the wiimote. Yeah people may claim it's perfect for it, but it all takes is one bad programmer to any form of control worthless.

One hopes they can get this right; even a closet gamer like me who barely scratched this last several gens before getting a Cube has heard of this one. Reimu is right, especially since it is still very early in the Wii's lifespan and you can't say they have got the Wiimote controls down pat yet. One can only hope they will do some serious testing on this before releasing it, something I wish for just about every game that gets released, though that doesn't seem to happen often enough these days.

I know I will certainly get it when I have the opportunity; here's hoping it lives up to it's predecessor. :sd:

And from the buzz going around, it's going to be developed by Sonic Team.

Heh well to be fair expecting anyone else to be the development team for the game would be pointless hope. Although I'm sure many have their own alternative idea regardless of how (un)realistic they may be.
