Which one? The new member coupon or the CD Universe coupon?

The one for CD Universe.
The details for the Google Checkout (not new member) promotion, listed HERE (http://www.cduniverse.com/promo/google.asp?style=movie&cart=513881427), states that purchases must be made by April 8th 11:59pm EST

Lame. I had an order that I was about to confirm with the $10 coupon applied, but then, I decided to swap some items, so I emptied my cart. When I was getting ready to confirm my revised order, the $10 coupon was no longer applied. Ah well, not like the savings were so huge anyways. :sd:

Preorders generally don't work for Google Checkout coupons. Sometimes they'll let you preorder one thing, depending on the store, but not mix and match with in-stock items or preorders from different days. Sometimes preorders don't count at all. Sometimes they'll count if they're only a week or two from release, and so forth. Used items are generally a no-go too.

It varies by store and sometimes isn't even consistent within the same store...

CD Universe allow preorders, and all I did was substitute Black Lagoon for Rozen Maiden, which has the same release date. I tried substituting the original item back, but the price still did not change. Only was saving $1 or $2 anyhow, so no biggie for me...I just hope none of them LE's go OOP soon...

CD Universe allow preorders
I tried to buy a number of preorders from them and the coupon was always grayed out. Could have been a fluke in the system that left it active the first time?

Odd, I've always been able to get it to work fine with pre-orders at CD Universe. Did it a while back for the FLCL boxset a couple months before its release, and got it to work with this recent promotion for the Haruhi LE.

It does not specifically say "Borders only" but I see no mention of Waldenbooks in the e-mail or on this web page. (http://www.bordersstores.com/features/list.jsp?list=tokyopop)

Yeah! I just got the email as well and I don't see any sign of Waldens being included. I can find out this Friday (I have Good Friday off), when I go to my locale Waldens. I know the Manager quite well there.

Very YMMV, but I found a really good deal. EBGames just marked down a lot of their used DVD's to $1.99 - including a lot of anime disks. Also they are running a Buy 2 Get 2 Free sale on top of that.

I ended up getting four disks for $4, including three anime titles:
Wings of Honneamise (Manga release)
Tsukikage Ran vol 2
Ex-Driver vol 1

Also saw more volumes of Tsukikage Ran, Spiral, and others at that price. I don't know if it is just the one near me or if they are all doing it to clean house.

Of course it is luck of the draw of what has been turned in used, but for $1 a disk it may be worth checking out. Who knows what else they may have marked down.

Looks like a revival of the sale they had a few months ago. I might have bought into some things, but 1) thats because they had a GC coupon going that wasn't just for new customers and 2) everything was out of stock =(

Probably going to pass again this time unless they get in on the GC $10 off $30 before this ends, though I think all I'd want is Happy Lesson and that'd be short... hmm.

Kmart has Beet the Vandal Hunter DVD #1 for $3.99. This isn't directly from the studio, but part of a relabeled assortment that comes into the stores in a white tray.

Borders has an assortment of Tokyopop manga in their bargain section for $3.99. I've only seen it at one store and not the other store near me and not in the Express store near me. They have a red label on the front and a black line on the bottom of the book. The titles I remember seeing are .hack//AI Buster #2, Ai Yori Aoshi #10, Life #1, and Gundam Seed novel #1. There are more that are eluding me right now, but it wasn't a huge selection, maybe a two foot shelf.

BookCloseouts.com has gotten in a whole bunch of Tokyopop manga. Almost all of them are $3.99.

There isn't any particular category they're in, but a search for "tokyopop" or "manga" brings up more than 900 matches. Or just do a search for a particular title.

Search for "tokyopop" (http://www.bookcloseouts.com/default.asp?Ntt=tokyopop&N=0&Dx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&D=tokyopop&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&Ntk=Default&sort=p_TitleSort&dir=ASC)

Search for "manga" (http://www.bookcloseouts.com/default.asp?submit.x=20&Ntt=manga&N=0&Dx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&Nty=1&submit.y=13&D=manga&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&Ntk=Default&sort=p_TitleSort&dir=ASC)

I'm not even going to try to list all of the titles, but among them they have Fruits Basket, Suikoden III, various CLAMP works like Chobits and Cardcaptor Sakura, DN Angel, Loveless, Rozen Maiden, and Saiyuki. Also, a bunch of manhwa and amerimanga, a couple anime-based novels, and the CLAMP "North Side" and "South Side" artbooks and kiseki (for $12-13 a pop).

Googling, I found these coupons:
* dealdude/bookcloseouts - $5 off $35
* dealdude-2/bookcloseouts - $10 off $60

ETA: Forgot to mention - if you have a Fatwallet.com account, you can get 7% back that way, too.

Wow, pretty nice. Since I have not used them, how is their service (if you have used them)? I have a few holes to fill (Angelic Layer,Chobits, Paradise Kiss. CLAMP North and South Side, The One I Love) and the prices for them are too good to pass up (shipping seems ok, coming from Canada to the US).

Sure! I made an order and got the books in last week (and didn't think to post the deal here till now, whoops), so here's my experience:

They charge $1 for handling on the last screen before you submit your order, so the shipping cost is a liiitle higher than you think.

Books arrived in a week from Canada (I'm in OH) via USPS. There was some thick brown paper wrapped around each stack of books, and the books were packed tightly in a box.

One book was canceled after ordering. The only way I could tell this, is that on the packing slip it said "0" under "qty shipped" for that book (and they didn't charge me for it). No other cancellation notice was sent. I used a coupon and was right over the minimum before the book was canceled, and the coupon was still applied.

(That book only had 1 left in stock when I ordered, so I figure that if you order a book with 1-2 left, you've got a good chance of having it canceled.)

All of the books were shiny and new, with no damage from shipping. One book had a really thick upc sticker on the front that was hard to get off without damaging the cover. That was the only one like that, though - no stickers or marks or anything on the rest, that I can see.
ETA: just realized that some of the books do have black marker swipes on the bottom. (Missed this before, sorry.)

I didn't have any problems where I had to actually try to contact them, so I can't comment on that.

I'm pretty happy with the order; it was totally worth it for less than $4 a book. I'm probably going to order again when I figure out what to order. (I'm using it to try out new series that I probably wouldn't buy otherwise.)

All of the nine I ordered had a swipe on either the top or bottom. That's about the only thing that irks me a little about them. Doesn't look like the marker bled onto any of the pages really at all, so I'm satisfied enough not to send them back, but now that I know about that I doubt I'll be ordering from them again in the future.

BCO sells exclusively remaindered books - every book they sell is like that, and always has been. It's how they sell them for that cheaply. Honestly, I'll take a sharpie mark on a book if it means 70% or more off.

I just got my order today (it shipped on Sunday, so it took five business days to get from Ontario to Alberta -- same as Amazon.ca).

With one exception, everything was in perfect condition (there were non-bleeding black marks on either end of every book, but I was expecting those). That exception was a volume that had some rough corners, and a creased spine; it had obviously been read in-store by someone who just generally doesn't take good care of their things. I'm not complaining, though, since the volume has been out-of-print for a while (and it was the last one in stock), the actual contents are fine, and it's not like the cover was torn or stained or anything.

For $4, including shipping, I can deal with a dented Robofish, and the marker swipes don't bother me at all.

-Edit-
I decided to contact CS over that volume just to see how they'd respond (also 'cause I was bored and I often measure the quality of e-tailers by the CS they provide).

I got a response within one business day, and I was offered an reasonable price adjustment (if it weren't a volume of manga that was marked down by 60% to begin with). It was a favourable outcome, and it was totally hassle-free, which is more than I can say for most CS departments I've dealt with.
