Wanted to bring your attention to the Fist of the north Star game just out in japan now for the PS2, its a port of the arcade game made by the Guilty Gear guys.
without going into details it is a lot of fun, the fatel KO trademark moves are fun to try and do with some of them quite easy to link in combos makes for a fun beat em up.
Has the origanal FOTNS intro music and uses a lot of the nice touches, have a look youself...
Opening with intro song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4eLMweKMzk)

Yep, I said a few words about it in the "What are you playing thread." This is the exceedingly rare anime based game that isn't insulting. In fact, this and Bleach DS 2 are the only anime based games I've played that I've enjoyed... though I still have to try out that copy of Jump Ultimate Stars I have.
Anyway, yes, FOTNS is a fantastic fighting game and definitely exactly what a fan of Guilty Gear would enjoy.

This sound great where can I get a copy. We need all the R1 releases of the anime.

I'd recommend NCSX.com or Play-Asia.com for getting the game. It ain't cheap.
And yeah, we definitely need the anime released in R1. Manga's "attempt" doesn't count.

Anybody know what changes/revisions, if any, are on the PS2 version of FOTNS compared to the arcade? There were definitely a few infinites that could've used fixing at the very least...

From what I'm reading, they have made some changes. At least, I know that people find themselves unable to do any of Rei's infinites anymore... dunno what they did about Toki though.

My friend played the arcade more frequently than i did, not to mention that he plays with Rei most of the time. He told me that there are many bugs and issues that were corrected in the PS2 version from the Arcade. I guess that would explain the 2 years gap between the two releases.
Btw, did anyone play the new Saint Seiya game ? any thought ?

The one review on gFAQS so far seems to put it as an overall improvement to the first one...with some quirkiness no doubt also (still) present. Really, it seems to be the "DIMPS effect" in action yet again. Posits on how the ending goes down that another one must surely be in development.
I've yet to find a single blasted video or anything on this one though despite finding a couple decent clips for the first game...grr.
It is up to the Euro Heroes on this one to fill the rest of us in this time it seems.

HNK is a pretty solid fighter. One of the few anime related games I've played that is actually good.
Love the soundtrack too.
Is it me or are controls kinda tight? I'm using a the Logitech wireless controller which has a decent d-pad. Some moves are hard to do consistently. Maybe I'll try the Saturn PS2 pad.
I'd like to see a PSP version.

If you are referring for a US release, well it's not unlikely but given the no love for HNK it probably won't :( the same goes for the anime as well

Wouldn't there be hella licensing issues with the HNK game? Either way, 2D fighters don't sell in the US, so like every other 2D fighter, we won't see this here.
and I'd like to see a PSP version to... mainly to see people break their PSP when trying to play the game due to the fantastic controls the PSP offers fighting game fans.

lol I'd smash mine. Ya the psp is quite the turd when it comes to 2-D fighter controls. The Guilty Gear games aren't that bad. The Capcom games play terrible. I'd like to see a PSP version of FOTNS just to have it. The controls would probably have to be simplified or something.
I doubt the FOTNS PS2 game will ever come to the US. Maybe the UK. 2-D fighters tank here nowadays.
Shit, we can't even get most of the anime to come here. Who knows about the new movies and OVAs. American anime fans rather watch some highschool romantic comedy bullshit or anime featuring maids..
This game is freaking awesome though. I had a blast with it last night. Cranked up the stereo, drank some Czech and Polish beer and played for hours. My wife was thrilled lol :P
