Wellber aired today as well, another series that I was really looking forward to. Production I.G has a hand in this as does Avex. The plot goes something like this:

10 years since the great war, tensions were mounting within the country of Wellber, which was barely capable of keeping peace, as war could commence at any time with its neighboring country, Sangatras. In order to avoid warfare, the king of Wellber, Haidel planned on marrying off his daughter, Princess Rita, to Sangatras` Prince Guernia.

However, Rita stabbed her groom to be and ran away. Infuriated, Sangatras` King Ranbahnhof threatens to wage war unless Rita is captured and publicly executed within 14 days. In order to avoid the worst case scenario, Rita decides to head for the neutral country of Greedom.

Meanwhile, the woman thief Tina sneaks into Castle Wellber, seeking its treasures, when she happens to witness the stabbing of Guernia by Rita.
Whether it be by coincidence or necessity, Tina receives information that the "Wasp Man" she was after is in Greedom, her sworn enemy who took the life of her parents.

Tina agrees to become Rita`s bodyguard as they head out to Greedom. Shouldering their fate and destiny, the two meet, leave, and set out on their journey. What awaits them is war or peace, vengeance or death...

Thats basically what happens in the first episode, so I won't waste time explaining things. What I will do though is post a picture or two. Here are some NSFW shows from episode one (http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/9689/1175632505248gx2.jpg) .

It's certainly setting itself up for it, but thats why we have El Cazador this season. It's hard to tell based on one episode though but it should be fun once it gets going.

I got a chance to look at the raw and wow the backgrounds are really nice. The animation is nice and clean and everything flows fluidly. Animation wise it really reminds me of Le Chevalier D`Eon with the historical setting. The music is decent as I really like the opening theme. The ending theme is pretty good to with a inventive credit scroll. Overall everything is very slick and what you'd expect from Production I.G.

I'm really loving the mechanical tank/knight thing with his own personality, man is he great.

I have doubts about how the animation will hold up over the course of the show. It's not solely an IG production; Trans Arts is involved as well, and IG has bigger stuff to focus on this season.

I approve of boobies! Now all they need to do is put some yuri there and this will be an awesome show!

Yeah, Moribito and so on. But I can't remember an IG show going to hell animation wise even when they were working on Blood + and so on. But for the first episode the animation is slick. It really reminds me of Le Chevalier D`Eon with the painted backgrounds and characters placed on top of them.

I've been interested in this show since I heard about it a couple months ago. It may be the first Production I.G. show that is of any particular interest to me (Chevelier to a lesser extent, but I'm still on the fence about getting it).

And boobies just make it better.

The 2chan thread for this is great as they compare the "comic relief tank" to Optimus. We finally get to see the big CG bridge jumping extravaganza that was shown in the trailer and Production I.G. pulls it off nicely. Visually the show still looks the same and it keeps itself on a very high level. Like expected, you get the "exposition episode" where our budding heroine learns that things aren't that great when you aren't a full fledged princess.

I enjoyed this episode more then the first one mainly because I know the characters more. From all of the trailers and promotional material they really hyped up the "girls on the run" theme and once they actually got into that setting, it makes the show more enjoyable. As long as it doesn't turn into a "problem of the week" or "town of the week" type of series, I can see myself really enjoying this show. While I love the "CG Tank" as I affectionately call it really stands out CG wise compared to I.G's beautifully done backgrounds and scenery. I'm becoming a huge fan of Tina though :virgin:

No wonder I couldn't find the thread for this, no activity in almost two months.

Episode 1:

- Whoever she is, she's cool. Thief chick! And her little floating green fairy thing!
- This is a more laid back show than I expected. Of course I'm not sure what I expected since I didnt know anything about it, but I thought it was a more serious, dark show for some reason. It has a 'modern' vibe (both in music and general feel) amid all the castles and such, and I didn't realize it would.
- Woah. Nakedness and stabbing. Tina plans a major heist in the castle itself, one that will have her set for life. While sneaking through the castle, she comes upon the murder scene... As she's escaping, Princess Rita escapes with her.
- This vibe between Rita and Tina could work out really well. Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not talking about yuri or anything =P Obviously I'd never turn that down, but I just mean that the runaway princess meets master thief thing, while nothing extraordinarily new, should be fun anyway. And Sherry is fun~
- So Rita stays the night at Tina's place. The next day she's out on her own, without telling Tina. In the meantime the King has put a warrant out for her arrest, and one of his guards finds her.
- The king of the opposing country has said he'll declare war against Rita's country if she's not found and publicly executed. Weiss, a servant of the king, finds her and tells her to go to Greedom. Tina runs in at that moment, and offers to be her bodyguard along the way (for a nice sum of course). Weiss will have none of it, until one of the soldiers loyal to the prince Rita killed comes in and swears to kill Rita. Weiss and Tina become allies out of necessity, and he entrusts Rita to Tina. Oh, and Princess Rita isn't so bad a fighter herself, which is good because then she won't have to be "damsel in distress" all the time.
- Oh yeah, they were also saved by a talking A.I. tank. ..... ... . . .
- Off they go, with 14 days until the execution.

I felt like the timing in this episode was off. Things were just handled slightly strangely, in a way that scenes and lines didn't have the impact they should have. It's hard to put into words. Just a general pacing concern, I guess, but nothing that can't be ironed out as they go on. On the whole, this was a good first episode, and I'm looking forward to seeing more. I don't expect great things, but shows don't need to be great to be watchable.

The only thing I really got to liking in Wellber was Production I.G's backgrounds. The show really didn't do it for me and shows like Gigantic Formula and Emma took precedent. Still though I wouldn't be surprised if this got picked up for R1 distribution relatively quickly.

WEll, seems nobody is watching this but by gosh! The princess is running from the evil guys for 12 episodes just to let herself be captured because the bad guys were MISTREATING people This is so stupid, the same thing happened in Romeo and Juliet. Anime characters are so damn stupid.

So what exactly happen in the last episode? Supposedly I heard it's going to be 13 episodes long.

It looks that way. ANN lists it as 13 episodes long with the last episode airing on the 26th. It's puzzling though as to why they'd make a semi interesting and nicely animated show only 13 episodes as I'm sure this is costing them a lot of money. I wouldn't go as far as calling the whole show filler, but I guess it never hit it off with a lot of people.

Not to surprising as I originally expected this to go 24-26 episodes. I wonder if they're just doing what Godannar did and are "taking a break" between "seasons".

I knew they couldn't wrap up everything in just one episode. I guess the show did pretty well on the ratings to get a second season after all.

Well, I just watched episodes 1-3, and so far, I like this show. It has a mixture of great action, humor, and excellent music, which is what I like. However, has episode 4 aired yet? The reason I ask is because I can't find anything beyond ep 3, and I've had that episode for a few weeks now.

Wellber already finished its first season run. It should have 13 episodes for now, but another season is already planned.

Very odd. I'm wondering why this show finished its run without anyone talking about it. Did anyone else here ever finish watching this?
I decided to check this show after hearing some folks on the shoujoai forum talk about it. Having just finished the 2nd season, I must say that this show is one of the hidden gems of the year. Storyline and ending was actually quite well constructed and you can tell that they had planned carefully what direction this show was going to take. This show doesn't exactly pull back on showing blood and death and isn't afraid to kill off important characters. The technological setting is quite interesting too.

Good show. Oh and by the way, there are nipples too.
