Mai Hime question: Just what was Natsuki thinking?

So I was looking at Mai Hime figures over at Hobby Link Japan and saw lots of hot Natsuki love. And it got me thinking about that one episode, early on, where she comes out of swim class to find that her, and many of her classmates', panties have been stolen. If you've seen the episode, then you know Natsuki makes the incredibly unwise decision to "go commando" in her EXCEEDINGLY short skirt (pic provided for reference) http://www.hlj.com/product/GRFMH-01S
(check out the fourth one for details), and of course at the worst possible time a gust of wind bares Natsuki in front of Gawd and Everybody.

But what I am saying is, why didn't she just wear the swimsuit, since she was heading back to her dorm room ANYWAY, why bother with her uniform getting wet from the suit, she could just get a fresh one at home? Was she secretly hoping to be exposed to someone? Or is she just a whole lot stupider than we are led to believe by the show?

Natsuki didn't wear the swimsuit since it would give the lie to her statement that she hadn't been victimized by the thief.

She wasn't heading back to her dorm room, but rather was enroute to the Student Council office (what she hoped to do there I don't know). Iirc, Natsuki doesn't live in the dorms but has a place off campus instead. ;)

Basically it was an opportunity to show another side of Natsuki with some fanservice thrown in as a gag, nothing more. But if I use my brain it could be something where she might not want to walk around in a tight swimsuit through the school, or that she actually couldn't.

Pride. Well if we're looking for an in-story reason. AS others have said it was a gag and a bit of fanservice. But for Natsuki she didn't want to admit she had been robbed as well and at the time she didn't know it was an Orphen that had done the deed. And i'm fairly certain she does live on campus, otherwise how would they have gotten her underware collection there and setup at the dorm so quickly?

It's no surprise that this and episode 6 of Otome are two of ym favorite eps of both shows for mostly the same reasons :D

Otome 6 felt too forced too me. Granted, Nina's reactions and Erstin's pool innuendo was fantastic, but "Mikoto, banzai", Natsuki's collection, and the gust of wind were all far funnier to me.

Course she could have worn her swimsuit under her uniform, she was not going to class, she was going to find some underwear (or maybe a longer skirt). Why not wear the swimsuit? Only her pride prevented it, and she has only her pride to blame for exposing herself to what's-his-name.

This is a hard one for many reasons. It's anime so probably shaved. But considering her personality from a US standpoint probably a neatly trimmed/cut/shaped bush :> :virgin: But from my personal viewing experience, Japanese AV girls almost always seem to have wild jungles down there :blush:
