I've never watched Neon Genesis Evangelion before, but now I've landed the DVDs, and I'm wondering in which order I should watch them. I have the platinum DVDs, The Director's cuts (Genesis Reborn and Resurrection), Death and Rebirth, and End of Evangelion.

So, what's the best viewing order? (No spoilers please!)

Platinum DVDs, switching out for the director's cuts, all the way to the end, Death for a stylish recap with a small amount of new stuff, after the intermission skip Rebirth entirely and go straight to the End of Evangelion

Seconded 100%. Best way to watch the series. Death even though a recap is incredibly well made, and if you segue into End of Eva after the intermission rather than rebirth, it's an amazing experience. (actually Rebirth isnt even included on the newer Eva movie DVDs in Japan. Its just death and End of Eva)

The ideal viewing order has already been given to you, but know that...

The Director's cuts (Genesis Reborn and Resurrection)

...are now obsolete, redundant, and superceded by the Platinum edition volume 6 and 7 AFAIK. (Except for maybe extras.) I feel no need to get Reborn and Resurrection since I have the Platinum edition, where volumes 6 and 7 have the DC episodes.

Happy viewing!

And then watch TV episodes 25 & 26.
