So I just purchased my first Anime cel at Katsucon, after having wanted to pick a few up for years. Now that I purchased my first one, I just bought three more, and am really looking about getting into collecting them. For anyone on these boards who does collect, what are some good online places to browse or purchase cels? Also, are there any good frames that would house cels? I've been looking for a frame that would display two or even for cels in the same picture frame. Has anyone come across any.
And just for fun, if you do collect cels... what series do you collect from? What was your first cel? And which is the pride of your collection?

I find most of my cels on Yahoo Japan's (http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/) auction site, via a deputy service like Shopping Mall Japan (http://www.shoppingmalljapan.com/) or Rinkya (http://www.rinkya.com). An occasional cel turns up on eBay, but that's rare. I'm not big on framing cels either, so I'll let someone else answer that one.
Most of my cels are El-Hazard ones, as I'm a bit of a specialist. The first one I ever bought was this hanken cel (http://tuffy.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=85448) from the Wanderers soundtrack. It's not quite as nice as the El-Hazard 2 OST (http://tuffy.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=94453) one I picked up later, which I'm still quite fond of.
There's also a general-purpose cel thread running here (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/11679/), if you're interested.

Hi there;
I have some cels, and besides Yahoo JP auctiones, there's this site in English (http://www.anime-world-star.com/2000/index.htm) who has cels from different series.
About framing the cels, I don't think it could be a goog idea either, since the paint of the cels can deteriorate due to sunlight or extreme temperatures.
An idea is to collect the as if they were trading cards, that is, to store them in a binder, in that way you can preserve the cels more adequately.

I have 2 KOR TV Madoka cels & 1 Hikaru, 1 SKOR Madoka cel, 2 Rurouni Kenshin cels of Kaoru, & 2 Hyper Police Natsuki cels.
Its fun watching through a show & realising that a particular expression, for a second or 2, is your cel! You own the original that created that small part in an episode or movie. I've noted down series, volume, episode, H:M:S for each of my cels.
Also own 2 Eva Misato fan made cels.
Don't leave any cels near sunlight, the colours bleach very quickly!

Favourite? It most definitely has to be this:
Onizuka losing at the races. (http://nork22.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=60253) :D
Then there's my Mint cel (http://nork22.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=86314) from Galaxy Angel.
And then there's the uber-cuteness with my Cardcaptor Sakura cels (http://nork22.rubberslug.com/gallery/master_query.asp?SeriesID=25586).
Least not forget my first Ah! My Goddess cel (http://nork22.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=179421).
So yeah... it's kinda hard to pick a favourite. :D :D :D

Since most of the other questions have been answered, I'll focus on the framing question. First of all, if you display them, they will fade. All you can do is slow the fading down, but that can take years and years if done right. (Plus, they may fade due to chemical reactions even if stored).
You want to use UV glass and acid-free materials. Plus, do not display in an area where they get exposed to much light or heat on a regular basis...such as near a window or heater.
The best bet is to have it professionally done...especially if the cel is non-standard size (~9 x 10 1/2). Just make sure that the framer does not dry mount the cel. Also insert a spacer between the cel and the background so that it does not stick over time. If you have a standard sized cel, you can buy a 11x14 frame and the materials from a art supply store and do the job yourself for about half the cost of a professional.
Here are a couple of the ones that I have framed:
BGC 2040 pan cel (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/kymaera/bgc_pan.jpg)
Nanami (El Hazard) cel (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/kymaera/nanami_framed.jpg)
I collect from way too many series..I currently have cels from 86 series. My first was this one (http://www.kymaera.net/cel_gallery/luna1.html) of Luna Varga. Too many to pick from to give an absolute favorite, but overall, I think I have a decent Saber Marionette J collection. (http://www.kymaera.net/cel_gallery/Saber_Marionette_J.html)

Yes, asking where there are good cel sites can be very dangerous... to one's wallet at least. It certainly is a lot of fun at first, but it is easy for cel collecting to turn into an obsession.
Now, that you have been warned, I can share a couple of mine:
My 1st cel? I bought a few at an AX as my 1st, but I will go with this one:
Sylia Stingray (http://falcon.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=146951)
My favorite cel? I thought this was going to be easy, but it seems my opinion has changed since last year.
Priestess Kris (http://falcon.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=184487)
I imagine that Sylia can't be too happy about this, but oh well.
As for framing/sunlight issues, I've had the Kris cel on the wall now for too long. I wouldn't dare expose her to direct sunlight, but with the days getting longer, I have to worry about reflected light, so sadly, I'd better put her away for the summer. :(
I've thought about framing some cels, but I just don't think I trust anyone (including myself) to do it right. So, other than the Kris cel, they are all in folders.

I forgot to mention this link for framing a cel. If I ever get around to framing one, I will look at this again:
Cel Framing Info (http://users.animanga.com/kallred/FrameIt.html)
Framing a cel w/o UV glass is a no-no. It only gives false security...

Hehehehe! Maybe I should turn around now while I still can.
By the way, what is a Rilezu cel?

By the way, what is a Rilezu cel?
A post-production cel. They take the sketches used in the production and make a cel from it as if they had done it for filming. Though, it's not something that was used in the actual anime. These are limited to be unique. Kinda like a one of a kind, hand-done repro cels in a nutshell.

Until I know, a Rilezu cel are created only for collecting purposes, since many series are done using CG.
Therefore, they are also called "post-production" cels
They usually depict important scenes form the series, with all details included.
Another characteristic is that those kind of cels are quite expensive.
For example, the Onegai Teacher cels were sold for about 300-400 dlls. each.
If you're interested in one, you can consult this Link (http://rilezu.com)

With the shift to CG shading, the old fashioned acetate cels stopped being used -4-5 years ago.
Relizus were created to provide cel collectors with something to collect. Since the shots are selected post-production, cels are generally created from key scenes and poses and not every frame will be made into a cel.
Here are a couple of examples. Kannaduki no Miko was a CG shaded production: Himeko and Chikane (http://evilarrex.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=131524)

A relizu cel is basically a cel created to take the place of the production cel if the traditional cel animation method had been used. It's a sort of "pretend production cel". Therefore, with a relizu cel there should be only produced of that scene. If more than one copy is made, then it'd really just be a reproduction cel instead of a relizu cel.
I have two relizu cels, one of Chibi Natsume Maya (http://natsumemaya.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=140757) from Tenjou Tenge, and one of Neko-mimi Kasukabe Saki (http://natsumemaya.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=202177) from Genshiken.
(Edit: forgot I own a third relizu cel - Nemu (http://natsumemaya.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=140739) from Haibane Renmei.)
I have one reproduction cel, of the main characters (http://natsumemaya.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=140759) from Whisper of the Heart. This is a framed cel. The paint on Shizuku's shoulder seems to have changed colour  I suspect it's due to the picture being framed and exposed to sunlight, though I've hung it in a place where there should be no direct sunlight.
My favourite cels are probably my two Evangelion cels, one of Akagi Ritsuko (http://natsumemaya.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=140726) (probably my favourite image of Ritsuko from the entire series, so I'm happy, but also much poorer, to have this cel) and one of Katsuragi Misato (http://natsumemaya.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=140730).
