I'm still wondering when they will implement DVD upconversion...

They also need to enable Blu-ray 720p, and it would be nice to see some of the BC glitches worked out.

I purchased a PS3 off Ebay today, so literally just made the plunge into Blu-ray.
What are "BC glitches"?
I've been reading up on the 720p issue and I have a question regarding it. I have an Olevia 542i, which is a 720p set, but supports 1080i, will I have issues with Blu-ray movie playback?

You'll be fine, just be sure to enable 1080i playback. If 720p is set as the highest resolution, blu-ray movies are downconverted to 480p.
BC is an abbreviation for backwards compatibility. There are some older games that don't run correctly, mostly graphical glitches, but a few titles freeze at certain points.

Even more-so on a PAL PS3.
Kingdom Hearts 2 for example, at least on 1.60, has a boss that cant be beaten.
Of course, the 1.70 update seems to have added other games to the PAL BC list (tho they havent updated the FAQ yet) so it might of fixed that problem (ill be giving it a try tomorrow)

Does FFXII run perfectly now on the PS3? (meaning the same as it does on the PS2)
I'm astonished by the amount of jaggies in this game. I've seen some pictures of FFXII supposedly running on a PS3 development unit, that is doing an upconversion of the game and the result is night and day from what I'm getting. I don't plan on haulting my playing of FFXII in a wait for something that might never come.

I haven't played much of it yet, but it seems to be the same on both systems. The jaggie problem was fixed back at update 1.5

What is wrong with FFXII on the PS3? I ask because I still haven't completed every side quest, and my g/f still needs to complete the main quest.

As far as I know, nothing is wrong currently. Before a certain firmware update, it looked worse than it already does, as far as jaggies are concerned. (I think the color was off too) I know some people swear by hooking up both HDMI and composite cables to their TV at the same time. Play PS3 games using HDMI and play PS2 games using composite. (Sending a 480i signal to the TV, which supposedly lessens the jaggies)
The game would look pretty good if the PS3 did upconverting of PS2 games.

I havent had a problem with ff12 on the ps3 either, although I still havent finished the game.
I do have 2 games that I have freezes on, playing on the ps3. Shin Megumi Tensei Nocturne, and to be honest, I forgot what the second was.
The game doesnt lock up completely. Backgrounds still move, and you can confirm certain button presses. But, the game just stops. Got me frustrated enough with Nocturne to stop playing for now. Might give it another go sometime, or maybe dig out the ps2 out of storage to finish it.
