There sure are a lot of robots, androids and other artificially created characters in anime. Are there any in particular you like? My easy answer is Alpha, Kokone, and Maruko from Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. But then again, that's my favorite manga, so it's no surprise. I like the way they're portrayed as being so close to human, but just missing the mark. But in a way, they're more human than we are.

I'm a huge fan of Treize and the various Tallgeese's in Wing and The Endless Waltz. The mobile suits are given a bigger "wow" factor by its pilot, Treize Khushrenada. He hast this great sense of "honor" if you will that you don't see a lot of in mech shows. That and his men are insanely loyal to him, so he is obviously doing something right. I know that Zechs aka Miliardo pilots the Tallgeese and the Tallgeese III but they're still an all time favorite.

I think you're missing the point. If you have to stick someone inside it to make it move, then it's outside the scope of what I'm looking for here. Giant robots are great, but they're a subject all their own.
