Hi There,

I've been searching far and wide, high and low for the 1986 Fist of the North Star Movie DVD (R2) but so far have had no luck. Can anyone recommend or point me in the right direction? I'd like to even just have a pic of the front cover and catalogue number for reference.

ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You have no earthly idea how disappointed I was to see this thread's title because I thought it would be "Hokuto no Ken Movie coming out on J R2 on xx/xx/2007 here is a link!"

There is no Japanese R2 DVD of the Hokuto no Ken movie. No DVD has been announced. Why not? It is a mystery.

If you could be so kind, I would greatly appreciate it if you would edit your thread title, please.

The only DVD releases available are the English dubbed Region 1/NTSC US DVD from 1999 (OOP), the unimpressive Region 2/PAL French "Ken Le Survivant - Le Film" DVD with no audio for the end of the film on the Japanese track, and a recent Region 3/NTSC Korean DVD from Premier Entertainment. It includes Japanese dialogue with optional Japanese and Korean subtitles. All of them include the International ending.

The Toei LD from 1987 or so includes a matted widescreen version of the feature and the original theatrical trailer, and features the same ending as the Japanese VHS version.

Track down any/all of these, since Toei's shown no interest in doing a remaster for 20 years now. They may, eventually, but until they do keep your eyes peeled for the Korean DVD and Japanese LD especially. Neither is perfect, but between the two of them (and the Image R1) I'm pretty satisfied.

Can you please point me to the right direction to purchase the Region 3 version? Yes Asia doesn't seem to have it.

Many thanks.

Hokuto no Ken R3 (http://www.dvdfromkorea.com/shop/p_detail.asp?idx=4142&location=Search&genre=)

Enjoy. Sadly I can't help you on the R1 or Toei LDs. I know where to get the French DVD as well, but unless you actually speak French it's not particularly worth-while.
