a provocative female android involved in the fight against the "claws of the panther", a type of space mafia made up of only women, whose goal is to get rid of all earthly women and to secure all men for themselves.

The main character attends an all-girl catholic school whose lesbian teachers keep harassing her with obscene propositions. When circumstances require the powers of the android heroine, her costume appears in a "flash", but only after having left her completely naked for a few seconds. Anime 1958-1988 (Protoculture Addicts book)

Old school. 1973. Go Nagai. Needs licensing. Demand your anime!

Seconded! This is a retro classic! Somebody needs to license this and Cutey Honey Flash soon. I will pick this one up if it were to get licensed. This show is a definite Go Nagai classic with a retro beat! :D Someone please save this gem from obscurity. :)

HUH!? I've seen about half of the original T.V. series and I don't remember the P.C. gang being anything like that. I don't know, maybe the manga is just much different, but they seemed to be pretty standard criminals. They didn't seem to care about "earthly women" one way or another, they just wanted to rob banks and stuff. And while all the super powered members were women, the trench coat and fedora wearing, pistol and knife wielding goons who get killed at a rate of about 40 per episode were men.

I think this is (in part) a result of Anime: A Guide To Japanese Animation (1958-1988) being a translation of a translation. I was told that the Italian edition is (IIRC) an unauthorized translation of an Animage book—probably the two volume The Art Of Japanese Animation)—so the languages go Japanese —> Italian —> English. A description of the book (http://www.textfiles.com/media/stuf10.txt), an English citation (http://books.google.com/books?id=u3K0z7s0Z7cC&pg=PA71&lpg=PA71&dq=animage+%22the+art+of+japanese+animation%22&source=web&ots=u2OMCQJgOV&sig=VzxWSbTuU1cVSqhqBeP3i-qcgos), and images of volume 1 (http://img257.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/1/2/8/3/ydhwx503-img600x450-1170492208p1190492.jpg) (ISBN 4198181209) and volume 2 (http://img257.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/1/2/8/3/ydhwx503-img600x450-1170492850p1190508.jpg) (ISBN 4198190100).

As for Cutey Honey itself, David L. Williams stated at Anime Boston that (I believe) Matt Greenfield would love to license it, but that vintage anime does not sell. (The video recording of the ADV panel is here (http://animenewsnetwork.com/convention/2007/anime-boston/advfilms).) Personally, I also would love to see it licensed (I'm the one who yelled out a reminder of the movie during the panel.)

I'd love to see it licensed to, but I always knew the chances of that happening weren't much. As to that loopy description of Cutie Honey, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a "space opera", pulp magazine Cutie Honey show, with her traveling to strange alien planets and battling Space Pirate/mafioso Jill and all her weird alien hench-girls. Well thats probably not going to happen either :sd:
